The Dodgers won game one and didn't have to ask much of their pen to get the 1-0 lead in the series. This is an important factor when betting totals as the series progresses, because of how heavily taxed both starters and relievers were in beating the Braves. Tony Gonsolin, who threw 41 pitches Sunday, will get the game two start for the Dodgers. Expect three efficient innings to be the limit for Gonsolin. Even if Gonsolin gives less Los Angeles didn't have to ask much of their bullpen in game one. Dave Rocberts has a fresh Brusdar Gaterol, Blake Treinen, and Kenley Jansen to support Gonsolin and possibly Dustin May to follow. Despite the game one loss, Tampa also has a fresh bullpen after Josh Fleming ate up 2.2 innings in relief. Game two starter, Blake Snell, threw just 86 pitches in game six of the ALDS five days ago and was visibly unhappy with being lifted from a game the Rays eventually lost. I like the combination of Snell having a chip on his shoulder and a bunch of flamethrowers in the pen. Pitching will dominate game two with the under cashing easy.

Expect a steady dose of Raven backs. grinding it out. The Baltimore defense isn’t the brick wall you might think it is. It’s been good at keeping teams from scoring, but it gives up a whole lot of yards. That will be this week’s game against the Bengals. The Ravens will give up big yards to Burrow, but there will be a whole lot of bending without breaking. Jackson will be fine, the Baltimore offense will be fine, but still come up short of that total.

The world likes this game to go UNDER, forgetting what we just saw from the Flames offensively. This is also an elimination game which can cause teams to do things out of desperation, leading to defensive lapses. It looks like that Flames top line is heating up with Sean Monahan joining the party in game three. It wasn't so much that the Flames scored six but the manner in which they did it with Winnipeg allowing numerous high end scoring chances. The jets were lazy at best defensively. Their sloppiness led to 3 Flames PP goals. The Flames have not been without their flaws. There were better in game three but in the first two match-ups it was Calgary giving the Jets all kinds of power play time. I'm not ready to declare the PK fixed until I see a trend, which is not one game. If there was a label to be put on Calgary this season, it's that you don't ever know what you're going to get. The Angels line-up will have a new face with the call-up of Jo Adell who is replace Shoeei Ohtani. It looks as if Adell will hit 5th. Justin Upton has not produced in the DH role, likely pushing him into a platoon role with Ohtani when healthy enough to hit. The Hawks will be shorthanded with Drake Caggiula serving a one-game suspension after a hit on Tyler Ennis, hurting Chicago's depth on the 3rd line. Chicago's focus should be keeping the Oilers off the Power Play where they scored three of their goals in game one. Tonight will be a different story. Take the UNDER for the win.

Gabe Kapler has brought his unique style of managing to San Francisco, no one knows that more than Jeff Samardzija who was supposed to be the Giants #2 but that honor went to Johnny Cueto. I'm guessing that didn't sit well with the former Notre Dame Football star. His mound opponent, Zach Davies, should feel comfortable with his former youth baseball catcher, Austin Hedges, behind the dish. The Giants have been silent about who their starters were the last two nights but it appears as if they've settled on Drew Smyly who will be making his first start as a Giant. His career numbers are average at best but he did pitch s well with the Phillies over 12 games than he did for much of hos career. He has always been better when playing for better teams so I don't put much into his eight plus ERA with the Rangers to start 2019. Gabe Kapler's decision to announce his starters late didn't go over well with Dodger manager, Dave Roberts, but that choice seemed to work for Logan Webb, helping the Giants to a win, Saturday. Julio Arias will get the start for LA. Urias was a sensational 4-3 with a 2.49 era last season, mostly out of the pen. We may see him used as a 'Opener' today but that doesn't bother me because of the Dodgers depth. I expect him to go deeper into games with the shortened season. The vibe out of San Francisco is that many of the players are already unhappy with Kabe Kapler's managing of the pitching staff. I think that this may be the way you keep Los Angeles unbalanced.

However, in the year 2020 we can count on guys going longer in an effort to getting them ready to play for real. This leaves me handicapping exhibition games closer to what I'd do for a regular season game. The line-ups for both teams feature a line-up that you would see on opening day.
