The Brooklyn Nets hope to see Kyrie Irving back on the court when they host the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday night. Irving has experienced periodic groin issues this season and the latest bout of soreness caused him to miss Thursday night's 130-113 road victory over the Indiana Pacers. Brooklyn coach Steve Nash would prefer seeing Irving on the floor versus Portland and Kevin Durant seated on the bench. Durant matched his season-high of 42 points in 36 minutes during the rout of the Pacers in the front end of a back-to-back.

Turnovers have been a problem for the Jazz coming out of the NBA All-Star break. Utah had 17 against Houston on Friday. Utah eventually won 114-99 but saw a large lead cut to four in the fourth quarter because of repeated miscues. While the Jazz got away with a lackadaisical effort, the same wasn’t true against Golden State on Sunday. At practice on Saturday, Frank Vogel announced that Marc Gasol and Kostas Antetokounmpo will miss at least the next two games due to the NBA’s health and safety protocols. Then, later in the day, the team announced that Alex Caruso had been placed in the NBA’s concussion protocol after suffering a head contusion against the Indiana Pacers on Friday. But the biggest injury news from the Lakers’ locker room came on Sunday, when the team announced that Jared Dudley had suffered a torn MCL. Dudley missed Friday’s game with a right knee contusion, but further testing revealed a right MCL tear. Suffice to say, the Lakers will be going into their final matchup of the season with the Golden State Warriors on Monday a little shorthanded and the Warriors are coming off of an impressive win over the Utah Jazz.

If Sacramento wants to remain in the hunt for a play-in spot, it begins and ends with the defensive end. As Walton alluded to, the Kings can score with any team in the league but remain abysmal at protecting their own end. That can’t happen against a Hornets squad that has won four of their last five outings. Led by Ball, Hayward and Rozier, Charlotte has climbed back over the .500 mark and will be a handful for the Kings backcourt. The trio combines to average 57.1 points per game, so De’Aaron Fox, Buddy Hield and Harrison Barnes will need to be on point defensively.

Caris LeVert appears set to make his long-awaited Pacers debut on Saturday night in Phoenix, when Indiana (16-20) faces the Suns (25-11) on the second stop of a three-game Western Conference road trip. The Pacers acquired LeVert from Brooklyn in a four-team trade that sent Victor Oladipo to Houston and James Harden to Brooklyn in mid-January, but a post-trade physical revealed a mass on LeVert's left kidney. Subsequent tests determined the mass was renal cell carcinoma and LeVert underwent surgery on Jan. 26 to remove it. No further treatment is necessary, but the surgery sidelined him for the ensuing month. With the addition, I'm guessing that most will be on the over but experience says it will take a game or so for the offense to come around.

With both back on board and the Cowboys now healthy, Oklahoma State must take advantage of what Kansas State exploited – and they could potentially avoid the season sweep. If the quarterfinals were any indication, then this game will come down to two things: turnovers and inside play. Against the Wildcats, Baylor turned the ball over a season-worst 21 times – but Kansas State failed to capitalize, being outscored in points off turnovers, 18-17. Oklahoma State, meanwhile, is also coming off a game with 20 turnovers – and paid for it, with the Mountaineers maintaining a 22-13 edge in points off those miscues.
