04-08-21 | Brewers -133 v. Cardinals | 1-3 | Loss | -133 | 4 h 43 m | Show
Milwaukee Brewers are 3-3 to start the season and have won their last two games. They face the St Louis Cardinals who are 4-2 and have won three games in a row. The Brewers will start Corbin Burnes today. Burnes is 0-1 after his first start. He had an excellent game, going 6 1/3 innings against the Twins, allowing just one hit and one run to go with 11 Strike outs. St Louis starts Adam Wainwright. Unlike Burnes, Wainwright did not have a good first start. He went just 2 2/3 innings against the Reds, allowing 7 hits and six runs. Burnes pitched in bad luck in his first start and I'm going to back him here today against the Cards. Play Milwaukee. |
04-06-21 | Mets v. Phillies +119 | 8-4 | Loss | -100 | 8 h 26 m | Show
Mets finally getting to play some games after having to sit through some Covid issues with the Nationals. They have played just one game and that was a loss yesterday to these Phillies, 3-5. Meanwhile, Philadelphia improved to 4-0 this season after their win over the Mets on Sunday. Now today they are a small dog at home against this Mets team that has just the one game played. I'll take the dog line here today. Play Philadelphia. |
04-06-21 | Cardinals v. Marlins -125 | Top | 4-2 | Loss | -125 | 8 h 0 m | Show |
St Louis off to a 2-2 start to their season while the Miami Marlins are 1-3. John Gant will make his first start of the season for the Cardinals. Sandy Alacantara will make his second start for the Marlins. Alacantara had an excellent first start against the Rays back on opening day. He went six innings and allowed just two hits and no runs in a no decision. I like Alacantara again here today. Play Miami. |
04-04-21 | Cardinals -109 v. Reds | 1-12 | Loss | -109 | 2 h 53 m | Show
St Louis and Cincinnati have split the first two games of this series. Carlos Martinez gets the start here today for the redbirds. Jeff Hoffman will counter for the Reds. The Reds took Saturday's contest, 9-6 after losing on Thursday, 6-11. This contest looks to be another high scoring affair, but for me I'm leaning toward the visitor in this one. Play St Louis. |
04-04-21 | Braves v. Phillies +100 | 1-2 | Win | 100 | 2 h 47 m | Show
Philly looking for the three-game sweep here today against Atlanta. The Phillies send Zach Eflin to the mound for his first start while the Braves look to get their first win with Ian Anderson on the hill. Philly took the first game back on Thursday, 3-2 and then shutout the Braves on Saturday, 4-0. The Braves offense looks to be a bit behind right now and for me that means I'll take Philly again here today. Play Philadelphia. |
04-03-21 | Braves -112 v. Phillies | 0-4 | Loss | -112 | 5 h 56 m | Show
Both teams had Friday off, but return here today for game two of their series. The Braves tied the scored 2-2 late in game one, but lost in the 10th on a walk off base hit by the Phillies. The National League East champs from last year look to rebound here today at Philly. Braves pitcher Morton had a down year with Tampa Last year so he's looking for some redemption this year. I like the Braves to bounce back here today. Play Atlanta. |
04-02-21 | Rays -105 v. Marlins | 6-4 | Win | 100 | 10 h 44 m | Show
A pair of Florida rivals meet here today on the 2nd day of the baseball season as the Tampa Bay Rays take on the Miami Marlins. The Rays will start Ryan Yarbrough. Glasnow got the start yesterday and went a strong six innings and allowed just one hit in the team's win over the Marlins. Yarbrough was 1-4 with a 3.56 ERA in his 11 games from 2020. The Marlins will start Pablo Lopez. Lopez was 6-4 with a 3.61 ERA in his 11 appearances in 2020. Line is basically a picke'm here, but I'll stick with the team from the West Coast. Play the Rays. |
10-27-20 | Rays +130 v. Dodgers | Top | 1-3 | Loss | -100 | 21 h 4 m | Show |
The Dodgers on the edge of winning their first World Series since 1988. They showed little effects of that horrid loss in game four with a bounce back to take game five and a 3-2 lead. Blake Snell will try to keep the Rays in the series tonight. Snell did well in his start against the Dodgers, going 4 2/3 innings and allowing two hits and two runs. Tony Gonsolin will start here tonight for the Dodgers. Gonsolin started against Snell in their last matchup with Gonsolin going just 1 1/3 innings, allowing one hit and one run. I have a big edge in starters here tonight to the Rays. Yet they are still a dog. I'll take that dog price. Play Tampa Bay. |
10-25-20 | Dodgers v. Rays +150 | 4-2 | Loss | -100 | 10 h 14 m | Show
What a great game four in the World Series. Back and forth they went with each team taking leads multiple times. Then Jansen came in the 9th with the Dodgers leading 7-6 and of course with two outs and a 1-2 count on Phillips he gave up the hit to tie the game and a subsequent error allowed the winning run to score. Why HC Dave Roberts continues to use Jansen in situations like this I have no idea. With all the young, strong arms he had available he had to go to Jansen. Well, it cost you Dave and maybe the World Series and possibly your job if you lose. For me, this was a huge let down for the Dodgers and that might just carry over to today's game. The Rays have their ace in Glasnow going and Kershaw has been excellent, but it is the playoffs. I'm taking the nice dog price with the Rays who should be pumped up here today. Play Tampa Bay. |
10-23-20 | Dodgers v. Rays +146 | 6-2 | Loss | -100 | 29 h 53 m | Show
The Rays tied up the series on Wednesday with a 8-3 win over the Dodgers. Their bats finally came alive, especially that of Lowe. Lowe was their best hitter during the regular season, but has had a horrible post season. He finally broke on in game two with a pair of home runs. In fact, all the bats have improved for the Rays. The Dodgers went the bullpen way, starting Gonsolin as he went just over one inning and then turned the game over to the pen who could not hold the Rays down. Dodgers Ace Walker Beuhler will start here on Friday. Beuhler got the big win over the Braves in the NLCS, going six strong innings and allowing no runs and no walks. Charlie Morton will toe the rubber for the Rays. Morton has won all three of his postseason starts, allowing just two runs over his 15 2/3 innings. I'm sticking with the live dog here in game three. Play Tampa Bay. |
10-21-20 | Rays +124 v. Dodgers | 6-4 | Win | 124 | 8 h 26 m | Show
Game 2 of the World Series here on Wednesday. Game 1 looked to be a great pitcher's duel early between Glasnow and Kershaw. Both pitchers were cruising along until the 4th when the Dodgers got on the board with a 2-run home run. Then in the 5th the Dodgers broke it open and never looked back in their 8-3 win. Tonight, the Rays start Blake Snell. Snell lost to the Astros in the ALCS, allowing two runs and three hits over his four innings. Snell has an overall 3.23 ERA on the season. The Dodgers will start Tony Gonsolin. Gonsolin was hit hard by the Braves in the NLCS, giving up five runs over 4 1/3 innings. That's now nine runs he's allowed over his last 10 1/3 innings. Almost a must game here tonight for the Rays. I'll take the dog price again and look for a better outcome tonight. Play Tampa Bay. |
10-20-20 | Rays +165 v. Dodgers | Top | 3-8 | Loss | -100 | 20 h 60 m | Show |
The LA Dodgers pulled the big upset in the NLCS after being down 1-3 to pull out the next three wins and advance to the World Series. The Tampa Bay Rays also had something similar happen when they blew a 3-1 lead to the Astros, but held on for the win in game seven. Tyler Glasnow gets the start here in game one. Glasnow was 7-2 on the season with a 4.23 ERA. He lost to the Astros in the ALCS, allowing eight hits over six innings to go with four runs. The Dodgers will start Clayton Kershaw. Kershaw lost to the Braves in the NLCS, going just five innings and allowing seven hits and four runs. Kershaw was battling back problems and had is start pushed back a few days. The Rays have excellent starting pitching and in game one I look for a upset winner on the Rays. Play Tampa Bay |
10-18-20 | Braves +147 v. Dodgers | 3-4 | Loss | -100 | 4 h 50 m | Show
Dodgers were down 1-3 in this series with the Braves, but have clawed their way back to tie it up and force a game seven. The Astros did the same to the Rays, but just couldn't overcome the deficit as today's winner fill face Tampa Bay in the World Series. Ian Anderson goes for the Braves. I really like this pitcher. He's only 3-2, but he has an ERA of just 1.95 and a WHIP of 1.08. Anderson faced the Dodgers back in game two, going four strong innings and allowing no runs and just one hit. Only problem was he walked five batters, something he can ill afford to do here today. The Dodgers have yet to announce a starter, but it looks like they will go the same route as they did in game two and start a reliever in Gonsolin. Either way, I like Anderson as a dog and that's who I'm taking no matter who the Dodgers start. Play ATLANTA. |
10-14-20 | Rays -137 v. Astros | 3-4 | Loss | -137 | 19 h 30 m | Show
Errors and lack of clutch hitting have really hurt the Houston Astros in this series. The Astros are down 0-3 to the Tampa Bay Rays after another error filled third game, especially by 2B Altuve who opened the door for big innings in these games. Altuve looks to have taken a page out of the Steve Saks playbook all of a sudden and can't make routine throws. In addition, the Astros have left 31 runners on base through the first three games of this series. The pitching has just been superb for the Rays. They allowed the Astros one run in game one, then two runs in game two and another two in game three. The Astros face game one starter Tyler Glasnow. Glasnow only went 2 1/3 innings in game one, but allowed no hits and no runs to the Astros. It was thought Zack Grienke would miss this series with a sore arm, but he's received extra time off and looks ready to go here tonight. Grienke gave up four runs and five hits in his postseason start vs the A's. Just too much on the side of the Rays as I look for the sweep here on Wednesday. Play Tampa Bay Rays. |
10-13-20 | Braves +158 v. Dodgers | 8-7 | Win | 158 | 6 h 53 m | Show
This NLCS looks to be dominated by pitching and that's just what we got in game one as the teams were tied 1-1 late into the game until the Braves finally broke out with a 3-1 win to take a 1-0 series lead. Tonight Jim loves the dog in this game because of their starting pitcher. Ian Anderson gets the start for the Braves with a 5-2 record in his eight starts. Anderson has a great 1.43 ERA and 0.977 WHIP. Anderson has not allowed an earned run over his last three starts (17 1/3 innings. Still, he's a big dog tonight because he's facing veteran Clayton Kershaw. Kershaw is 8-2 on the season with a 2.12 ERA and 0.816 WHIP. Kershaw did allow three earned runs over six innings to the Padres in the NLDS. Really, Anderson has outpitched Kershaw this season and I'll take the big dog price here tonight. Play Atlanta. |
10-12-20 | Astros v. Rays -123 | 2-4 | Win | 100 | 6 h 34 m | Show
The Rays took a 1-0 lead in this best of seven series with a 2-1 win in game one on Sunday. This looks to be a very tight pitching series and that's just what we say in game one. The Astros will start Lance McCullers here today. McCullers is 3-3 in his 12 starts with a 4.27 ERA and 1.237 WHIP. McCullers got hit fairly hard vs Oakland in the ALDS, giving up four earned runs over four innings. Prior to that start he had allowed no runs over his previous three starts (17 2/3 innings). Charlie Morton will get the nod for the Rays. Morton was 3-2 on the season with a 4.40 ERA. Morton beat the Yankees in the ALDS, allowing just four hits over five runs with one earned run. Morton has been very consistent, allowing three runs or fewer in each of his nine starts. I'm taking the Rays again here in game two as I believe their pitching is just better overall. Play Tampa Bay. |
10-09-20 | Yankees v. Rays +144 | 1-2 | Win | 144 | 15 h 27 m | Show
The Yankees forced a fifth and decisive game here today with the Rays with the winner moving on to the ALCS. The Yankees won game four, 5-1 and have scored at least four run in every game of the series. Gerrit Cole gets another start in this series. Cole got the win in game one, going six innings and allowing six hits and three earned runs. The three runs were the most he's allowed since August 31st. Tyler Glasnow went five innings in game one, allowing four runs on three hits. The Yankee bats aren't as hot as they were in the Wild Card round and the first few games of this series. This game will likely be settled by the bullpens and for me, that's an edge to the Rays. It's just a plus that I get the Rays as a dog here today. Play Tampa Bay. |
10-06-20 | Yankees v. Rays -120 | Top | 5-7 | Win | 100 | 20 h 13 m | Show |
The New York Yankees are healthy for the first time all season and it's showed here in the playoffs as their bats have been on fire. The TB Rays kept them down most of the night on Monday as the score was 4-3 Yankees heading into the top of the 9th. However, the Yankees bats once again exploded in the 9th for five runs. The Yankees take a 1-0 lead in this best of five series. The Rays can ill afford to go down 0-2 in this series and will turn to Tyler Glasngow in game two. Glasnow was 5-1 for the Rays this year with a 4.08 ERA. Glasnow has not allowed more than two earned runs in any of his last three starts. The Yankees Deivi Garcia will toe the rubber on Tuesday. Garcia was 3-2 this year with a 4.98 ERA. Garcia hasn't pitched that well of late, allowing 10 earned runs over his last 9 2/3 innings. This is the spot for the Rays to take a win against a Yankee pitcher in Garcia that has struggled of late. No love lost between these teams so the Rays would love nothing more than to run up the score. Play Tampa Bay. |
10-06-20 | Astros v. A's -110 | 5-2 | Loss | -110 | 17 h 40 m | Show
Dodger Stadium is usually a pitcher friendly park, but it wasn't so on Monday as these teams used it as a launching pad as the Astros took game one of this best of five series, 10-5. Game two here on Tuesday has Framber Valdez making the start for the Astros. Valdez was 5-3 on the season with a 3.57 ERA. Valdez has won four straight games and has allowed just two earned runs over his last three starts. Sean Manaea will oppose for the A's. Manaea was 4-3 on the season with a 4.50 ERA. Manaea has not allowed more than three earned runs in any of his last seven starts. A's need this game today or fall down 0-2 in a best of five series. I'm taking the A's in this one. Play Oakland. |
10-06-20 | Marlins +182 v. Braves | 5-9 | Loss | -100 | 14 h 11 m | Show
The Miami Marlins are 7-0 in their playoff history winning series. They have their work cut out for them in this series thought against the Atlanta Braves as they begin their best of five in the NLDS. The Braves are led by their pitching, which was on display in the Wild Card round vs the Reds as they swept Cincy 2-0 and didn't allow a single run in 22 innings. The Marlins followed a similar script, allowing just one run in their sweep the Chicago Cubs. Braves Ace Max Fried will start game one here today. Fried is 7-0 on the season with a 2.25 ERA. He went seven innings vs the Reds and allowed six hits and no runs in the win. The fish will start Sandy Alcantara, who was 3-2 this season with a 3.00 ERA. Alcantara went 6 2/3 vs the Cubs and allowed just one run and three hits. Should be a series dominated by pitching, but I'm taking a chance here with the high dog price on a very good Marlins team. Play Miami. |
10-01-20 | White Sox v. A's -101 | 4-6 | Win | 100 | 3 h 48 m | Show
Final game of this series as the White Sox took game one and the A's rebounded in game two, 5-3. No day off here as the teams come right back on Thursday for the third and final game of this series. The A's might be without their closer in Hendricks who had to go last night to preserve the win. Hendricks doesn't usually go in back-to-back games, but he might be forced to here today. Dane Dunning will go for the Sox with a 2-0 record and 3.97 ERA on the season. He will be opposed by Mike Fiers who is 6-3 with a 4.58 ERA. Tough game here today, but I give the edge to Fiers who has been winning games all season. The A's might not need their closer in this one if they blow them out. Take the A's |
09-30-20 | Yankees -116 v. Indians | 10-9 | Win | 100 | 8 h 15 m | Show
This best of 3 series could be the end today for the Cleveland Indians if they can't find a way to slow down this Yankees lineup. The Yankees led the AL in runs and they proved it to the Indians in game 1 with 12 runs in the AL Wild card series. Masahiro Tanaka will start for the Yankees today. Tanaka was 3-3 in his 10 starts with a 3.56 ERA. The Indians will send Carlos Carrasco to the hill. Carrasco was 3-4 in his 12 regular season starts with a 2.91 ERA. Carrasco will have his hands full with this Yankees lineup today. I'm going to stick with the hot bats and those are the Yankees. Play New York. |
09-29-20 | Yankees v. Indians -104 | 12-3 | Loss | -104 | 20 h 40 m | Show
The Yankees and Indians start their playoff series here today. Gerrit Cole starts for the Yankees and he finished the season great with a 7-3 record and 2.84 ERA. Cole allowed just two runs over his last three starts (21 innings). Shane Bieber was equally as good for the Tribe with a 8-1 record and 1.63 ERA in his 12 starts. Bieber allowed 1 run or fewer in five of his last eight starts. Both these pitchers have been excellent, but for me I'm going with Bieber who has been much more consistent. I'll take Bieber at this great price. |
09-29-20 | Astros v. Twins -157 | 4-1 | Loss | -157 | 15 h 39 m | Show
The Minnesota Twins won the AL Central, barely getting by both the White Sox and the Indians who each finished one game back. The Houston Astros won one of the Wild Card games as they finished 2nd in the AL West, seven games back of the A's. The Astros didn't even finish at .500 with a 29-31 record. Meanwhile, the Twins finished 12 games over the .500 mark. Zack Greinke will start for the Astros with a 4.03 ERA and a 3-3 record. He will face Kenta Maeda for the Twins who was 6-1 in his 11 starts with a 2.70 ERA and 0.750 WHIP. Maeda was consistent all season, allowing three runs or fewer in every start. I like the Twins in this opening game. Play Minnesota. |
09-22-20 | Rays -125 v. Mets | 2-5 | Loss | -125 | 6 h 54 m | Show
Tampa Bay and the Yankees have both clinched playoff spots. The Rays look to hold onto the top spot as they have a 4.5 game lead in the AL East over the Yankees. Both teams have been hot with the Rays winning seven of their last 10 and the Yankees winning eight of their last 10. Blake Snell goes today for the Rays. Snell is 4-1 in his 10 starts with a 3.05 ERA. Snell has allowed just one run over his last 10 2/3 innings. Seth Lugo will toe the rubber for the Yankees. Lugo is 1-1 in his five starts with a 5.30 ERA and 1.500 WHIP. Lugo has been hit rather hard of late, allowing nine runs over his last 7 innings of work. I like the visitor in this one. Take the Rays. |
09-21-20 | Cubs -150 v. Pirates | 5-0 | Win | 100 | 6 h 48 m | Show
Cubs looking to clinch a playoff spot this week as they are in 1st place in the NL Central with a 31-22 record. They have a 3 1/2 game lead over the Cardinals. Jon Lester will start today for the Cubs. Lester is 2-2 on the season with a 4.91 ERA. Lester has pitched well of late, allowing two runs over his last 11 innings with 9 KO's and 3 Walks. The Pirates have lost four straight and nine of their last 10 games. J.T Brubaker will start for the Pirates. Brubaker is 1-2 with a 5.58 ERA and 1.500 WHIP. Brubaker has allowed eight runs over his last 10 1/3 innings. Cubs should have no trouble today with the Bucs as they close in on clinching that playoff spot. Play the Cubs. |
09-21-20 | Brewers +115 v. Reds | 3-6 | Loss | -100 | 5 h 22 m | Show
These two teams are still in the race for a playoff spot, but only one could likely get the spot. The Reds are in 3rd in the NL Central and the Brewers are in 4th, one game back in the loss column to the Reds. The Brewers start Brandon Woodruff today with a 2-4 record and 3.45 ERA. Woodruff has allowed just three runs over his last 14 innings with 17 KO's and no walks. Luis Castillo will toe the rubber for the Reds today with a 3-5 record and 3.19 ERA. Castillo has also been very good of late, allowing just one run over his last 16 innings with 16 KO's and four walks. Both these pitchers are on hot streaks and for me that means an UNDER here today. |
09-20-20 | Twins v. Cubs -147 | 4-0 | Loss | -147 | 8 h 1 m | Show
Despite their 31-21 record and 1st place in the AL Central, the Chicago Cubs have not yet clinched a playoff spot. The Cubs have won seven of their last 10 games and lead second place St Louis by 4 1/2 games. The Twins have clinched a playoff spot with their 32-22 record. Yu Darvish is having a great season, something we can't say for a number of years now. Darvish is 7-2 in his 10 starts with a 2.00 ERA and 0.937 WHIP. Darvish has yet to allow over three runs in any of his 10 starts. Jose Berrios has had an up and down season with his 4-3 record and 4.15 ERA. Berriors goes through stretched of excellent starts then has a letdown for a few starts. For me, Darvish has been consistent all season and he's the one I'm backing here on Sunday. Play the CUBS. |
09-20-20 | Royals +134 v. Brewers | 3-5 | Loss | -100 | 3 h 3 m | Show
The Royals won't make the postseason with just a 21-31 record, but that hasn't put any quit into them. The Royals have won seven of their last 10 games. The Brewers have had a disappointing season at just 25-26. They have won three straight and six of 10. Brad Keller starts for the Royals with a 4-2 record and very nice 2.06 ERA. Keller is off a rare 9 inning complete game where he allowed no runs to the Pirates. Josh Lindblom will start for the Brewers with a 1-3 record in eight starts and a 5.55 ERA. Getting the Royals and Keller as a dog here today is too good to pass on. I'm taking the ROYALS. |
09-20-20 | White Sox v. Reds -125 | 3-7 | Win | 100 | 2 h 2 m | Show
A number of teams have already clinched playoff spots and the White Sox are one of them. The Sox hold first place in the AL Central with a 34-18 record, three games ahead of 2nd place Minnesota. The Sox have won eight of their last 10 games. The Cincinnati Reds are 26-27 and in 3rd place in the NL Central. The Reds have been hot too, winning seven of their last 10 games. The Sox will start Dylan Cease here today who is 5-2 on the season with a 3.20 ERA. Michael Lorenzen will go for the Reds. Lorenzen has just one start but it was a good one, going five innings vs the Pirates and allowing just one run on four hits with no walks. I'm going to try Lorenzen out here today. Take the Reds. |
09-18-20 | Twins v. Cubs -119 | 0-1 | Win | 100 | 9 h 47 m | Show
The Minnesota Twins dropped back to three-games back in the AL Central behind the Chicago White Sox. The Chicago Cubs are in first place in the NL Central, 5 1/2 games ahead of the Reds and six games ahead of the Cardinals. The Cubs have won four straight games and seven of the last 10. Rich Hill starts for the Twins today. Hill is 2-1 in his six games with a 3.81 ERA and 1.346 WHIP. Kyle Hendricks is 5-4 in his 10 starts with a 3.29 ERA and 1.051 WHIP. Hendricks has put together three excellent starts in a row, allowing a total of four runs over 21 2/3 innings with 17 KO's and just two walks. |
09-16-20 | Twins v. White Sox -144 | Top | 5-1 | Loss | -144 | 6 h 30 m | Show |
Big matchup here in the AL Central between the 1st place Chicago White Sox and the 2nd place Minnesota Twins. The Sox have won six in a row and nine of their last 10 games while the Twins have lost two in a row. The Twins will start Jake Odorizzi who is not having a good season. Odorizzi has a 0-1 record in three starts with a 8.10 ERA and 1.60 WHIP. Lucas Giolito will go for the Sox and he has a 4-2 record in his 10 games with a 3.43 ERA. Giolito has won five straight games. I like the White Sox here tonight. Play Chicago. |
09-12-20 | Indians -113 v. Twins | Top | 4-8 | Loss | -113 | 19 h 6 m | Show |
The Minnesota Twins have won eight of their last 10 games, yet they still trail first place Chicago White Sox by one game. The Cleveland Indians have lost four straight games and dropped 2 1/2 back in the AL Central. Zach Plesac starts today for the Tribe. Plesac is 3-1 in his five starts with a 1.32 ERA and 0.735 WHIP. Plesac has allowed either no runs or one run in four of his five starts. Rich Hill starts for the Twins. Hill is 1-1 in his five starts with a 3.86 ERA and 1.381 WHIP. Hill has pitched well enough, allowing more than two runs in a game just once in his five starts. I like the Indians to snap their four game losing streak here today. Play Cleveland. |
09-12-20 | Orioles +167 v. Yankees | 1-2 | Loss | -100 | 12 h 3 m | Show
The Baltimore Orioles have not played badly this year considering they are usually huge dogs in games. In fact, I don't know of any other team in baseball that has won more games as a +1.50 dog than the O's have. They have lost three straight though as they enter Saturday's game at the Yankees. Dean Kremer will start only his second game of the year for the O's. Kremer pitched well in his other start, going six innings vs these Yankees and allowing just one run in a win as a +1.80 dog. Now he gets to face them again here today. The Yankees will send Jordan Montgomery to the hill today. Montgomery is 2-2 in his seven starts with a 5.72 ERA and 1.411 WHIP. For the price, lots of value here today with the Orioles. I'll take a shot with them. Play Baltimore. |
09-11-20 | Reds v. Cardinals +106 | 3-1 | Loss | -100 | 15 h 43 m | Show
The St Louis Cardinals have moved to within three games of first place in the NL Central with their 19-18 record. The Cincinnati Reds are 19-25 and in fourth place. The Cards start one time Ace Luis Castillo. While Castillo is only 1-5 on the season, his ERA is 4.15 with a 1.477 WHIP. The team has also won just two of his eight starts this season. Meanwhile Adam Wainwright has been excellent for the Red birds with his 4-0 record in his six starts. Wainwright has a nifty 2.68 ERA and 0.917 WHIP. Big difference in starters in this one, yet the Cards are a slight dog. I believe the Cardinals should be the favorite here, but I'll take the small dog price. Play St Louis. |

09-10-20 | Astros v. A's -141 | 1-3 | Win | 100 | 4 h 44 m | Show
Astros and A's fighting for the AL West top spot in the division. The A's holding fast to that 5 1/2 game lead means the Astros need to cut into that here today. They will try with Jose Urquidy who has just one start under his belt this year and that was a 3 2/3 outing where he allowed four hits and two runs. The A's counter with Sean Manaea who is 3-2 in his eight starts with a 5.09 ERA. Manaea has been very good of late though, allowing just one earned run in each of his last three outings (15 innings). I like the A's here today to increase their lead. Take Oakland. |
09-08-20 | White Sox -125 v. Pirates | 4-5 | Loss | -125 | 7 h 22 m | Show
The White Sox continue to be the surprise team this year in baseball as they are now 26-15 and have won four straight games and seven of their last 10. The Sox have received great pitching out of today's starter, Dylan Cease. Cease is 5-2 in his eight starts with a 3.29 ERA. The Pirates would like to forget 2020 and especially this season on the diamond. The Bucs are in last place in the NL Central with a 13-26 record. They did win yesterday though over the Reds, 3-2. Joe Musgrove looking for his first win as he starts his fifth game today. Musgrove is 0-4 with a 6.62 ERA. I am sticking with the team that has done well for me all season. Take the White Sox. |

The Yankees will counter with Montgomery who is two and two in his starts this year. Montgomery has a 5.76 ERA and a 1.279 whip. For me i'm sticking with the Home team and this one and the better pitcher. Take the Blue Jays. |

The Seattle Mariners and the Texas Rangers finish their four game set here on holiday Monday. The Rangers will send Allard to the hill on Monday. Allard is zero and four and his starts and the team is two and four and his starts having lost his last four. Allard has a 5.40 ERA and a 1.280 whip. The Mariners will send Gonzalez to the mound. Gonzalez is four and two this season and the team has won his last two starts. Gonzalez has a nifty 3.09 ERA and 0.916 whip. The Mariners playing well, I like them here on Monday. Take the home team and play the Seattle mariners. |

The Mariners have moved into 3rd in the AL West thanks to a four game win streak and seven wins in their last 10 games. The M's will send Justin Dunn to the hill. Dunn has a 2-1 record in his six starts with a 4.33 ERA. Dunn is coming off back-to-back quality starts where he has alloed no runs over 12 innings. I like the host here in this one today. Play Seatte. |
09-06-20 | Padres v. A's -103 | 5-3 | Loss | -103 | 5 h 47 m | Show
The Padres bolstered their starting rotation by picking up Clevinger from the Indians. The Padres have moved into 2nd place in the NL West behind the Dodgers, six games back. The Padres having a nice season at 24-17 and while Clevinger won't start today but they will go with Garrett Richards. Richards is 1-2 in his eight starts with a 4.63 ERA. Richards is coming off his best start where he allowed no runs to the Rockies and one hit in a limited 3 2/3 performance. Despite seven starts, Richards has not gone past four innings in his last three starts. The A's are in 1st place in the AL West with a 23-13 record, 3 1/2 games ahead of the Astros. Michael Fiers starts today with a 4-1 record in his seven starts with a 4.86 ERA. Fiers coming off a six inning outing vs the Rangers where he allowed no earned runs. I am a bit surprised the A's are not laying any money here today. I'll take that. Play the Athletics. |

Cueto has a 4.75 ERA and is coming off a nice start against these same D'backs where he held them to three hits and one run over 6 2/3 innings. I like the Giants here today. The D'backs are just playing about as bad as any team in baseball right now. Play San Francisco. |

AL East contest here today has 3rd place Toronto Blue Jays taking on the last place Boston Red Sox. The Red Sox have now lost three in a row and seven of their last 10 games. The Red Sox pitching has been terrible, in fact they have allowed more runs (232) than any team in baseball. Martin Perez will try to do better today for the Sox. Perez is 2-4 in his seven starts with a 4.58 ERA and a 1.273 WHIP. Perez had been pitching well until his last start where he allowed six runs over four inning vs the Nationals. Taijuan Walker starts for the Jays today. Walker is 3-2 in his six starts. Walker has a 3.27 ERA and has allowed just three runs over his last three starts (19 innings). ERlin has a 4.50 ERA and nice 0.917 WHIP. He's pitched well, though he only goes about four innings. Still, the Braves much better than the Sox right now. I'll take the Braves here on Wednesday. |
09-01-20 | White Sox -102 v. Twins | Top | 2-3 | Loss | -102 | 9 h 10 m | Show |
The White Sox are one of the surprising teams thus far this year as they are now first in the AL Central with a 22-13 record and have won eight of the last 10 games. The White Sox have bolstered the starting pitching and today's starter is an example. Dallas Keuchel starts with a 5-2 record in his seven starts. Keuchel has a nifty 2.70 ERA with a 1.039 WHIP. Keuchel has not allowed more than two runs but one time in his seven starts. Michael Pineda makes his first start of the season here tonight for the Twins. Not sure how Pineda will do tonight, but I do like Keuchel in this one. Play the White Sox. |
08-29-20 | Dodgers v. Rangers +140 | 7-4 | Loss | -100 | 6 h 14 m | Show
The Rangers pulled a big upset on Friday as they beat the Dodgers, 6-2. The Rangers are in 3rd in the AL West with a 12-19 record and have lost eight of their last 10. That make it even more impressive in their win over arguably the best team right now in baseball in the Dodgers. LA is 24-10 in the NL West and have son seven of their last 10 games. They will send Ross Stripling to the hill today. Stripling is 3-1 in his six starts with a somewhat high 5.46 ERA. Lance Lynn toes the rubber for the Dodgers. Lynn is 4-0 in his seven starts with a 1.59 ERA. Yet, we get Lynn as a home dog here on Saturday. Worth another shot with the Rangers best pitcher on the hill. Take Texas. |

Fiers has been decent of late, allowing five total runs over his last 11 1/3 innings. The Rangers counter with Kolby Allard. Allard is 0-2 in his four starts with a 7.81 ERA and 1.815 WHIP. Allard had started the season good with back-to-back good starts. However, his last two starts have resulted in 10 runs over 3 2/3 innings. I like the A's against the ice cold Rangers here tonight. Play Oakland. |

We get a great price here with the Braves and their best pitcher on the hill today. Play the Braves. |
08-25-20 | Dodgers v. Giants +188 | 8-10 | Win | 188 | 4 h 30 m | Show
The LA Dodgers have the best record in baseball at 22-8. They lead 2nd place San Diego by 4-games and have won four straight and nine of their last 10. They take on the 14-16 Giants here tonight from San Francisco. Anytime these hated rivals get together you can throw out the records. LA will start Julio Urias who is 2-0 in his five starts with a 2.74 ERA. Johnny Cueto starts for the Giants. Cueto is 2-0 in his six starts with a 4.35 ERA. |||||||
08-25-20 | Red Sox v. Blue Jays -125 | 9-7 | Loss | -125 | 1 h 21 m | Show

08-24-20 | Royals +171 v. Cardinals | Top | 3-9 | Loss | -100 | 20 h 59 m | Show |
The KC Royals are in dead last in the AL Central division. They have lost two straight games and six of their last 10. The good news is that they start one of their bright spots so far this season in Brad Keller. Keller is 3-0 in his three starts with a 0.00 ERA and 0.905 WHIP. That's right, he has not allowed a run to go with his eight total hits over 17 2/3 innings. The Royals will be a big dog here on Monday despite Keller starting. The Cardinals are in 2nd place in the AL Central but are just one game over .500 at 9-8. Jack Flaherty will start for the Redbirds. He is 1-0 in his two starts with a 3.11 ERA. I like dogs and especially with a pitcher as good right now as Keller is. I'll take the Royals here on Monday. |

The White Sox look to continue their hot streak here Sunday against their intercity rivals, the Cubs. The Sox have now won seven straight games and eight of 10 to climb into third place in the AL Central, just one game back of division leading Minnesota. The Cubs are still in first place in the NL Central, despite losing seven of their last 10 games. The Central has become the weakest division in baseball, with the Cubs the only team above the .500 mark. Yu Darvish starts for the Cubs today. He's 4-1 in his five starts with a 1.80 ERA and 0.900 WHIP. Darvish has been a bright spot after some less than stellar seasons recently. The Sox will counter with Dylan Cease. Cease is 4-1 in his five starts with a 3.16 ERA and 1.346 WHIP. Cease has been very good for the Sox. No way the Sox should be such a big dog here today. They are red-hot and Cease is just as good as Darvish. I see lots of value here in the dog. Play the White Sox. |
08-22-20 | Blue Jays -115 v. Rays | 1-2 | Loss | -115 | 7 h 53 m | Show

Ryu has allowed just two earned runs over his last 12 innings of work with 10 KO's and two walks. Meanwhile, the Rays are tied for first in the AL East with the Yankees at 17-10. The Rays have won eight of 10 but saw their streak ended by the Jays on Friday. Aaron Slegers makes his first appearance of the season here today. The Angels start Andrew Heaney here today, who is 1-1 in his five starts (team is 1-4) with a 4.74 ERA. Heaney started the season with three good starts, allowing four runs over 16 1/3 innings. However, it's been downhill his last two starts, with nine runs allowed over his last 9 1/3 innings. The A's continue to play well with a 18-8 record and first place in the AL West. Michael Fiers is 2-1 in his five starts (Team is 4-1) with a 5.96 ERA. Fiers coming off a nice start where he allowed two runs over six innings to the Giants. The LA Angels are just 8-17 on the season and in 4th in the AL West. The Angels have lost two straight games and seven of their last 10. The Angels will start Jose Suarez here tonight. Suarez will make his first appearance this season. I like the Giants tonight. They are on a small win streak and have a power pitcher on the hill. Play Giants. |
08-20-20 | Reds v. Cardinals +131 | 4-5 | Win | 131 | 10 h 31 m | Show
The St Louis Cardinals got a break due to a Covid-19 positive test, but they are back. The Cardinals have just 13 games under their belt and area 6-7, but in 3rd place in the NL Central. Adam Wainwright has pitched very well for the Cards this year in his two starts. Wainwright is 2-0 with a 1.64 ERA and a 0.818 WHIP. The Cincinnati Reds are in 4th place in the NL Central with a 10-12 record. Sonny Gray gets the start today. Gray is 4-1 in his five starts with a 2.05 ERA and 0.913 WHIP this season. Great pitcher's duel here today, but I'll take the well rested Cardinals. Play St Louis. |

The D'backs are a big dog here tonight and I'm not sure why with a very good pitcher on the hill and a small win streak going. take Arizona. |
08-19-20 | Rangers +121 v. Padres | 3-6 | Loss | -100 | 20 h 18 m | Show

The Padres have dropped to 4th in the NL West at 13-12. Chris Paddack gets the start today. Paddack is 2-2 in his five starts with a 4.91 ERA. The Rangers have been hot with this pitcher on the hill. I'm taking the Rangers as a small dog on Wednesday. |
08-19-20 | Mets -215 v. Marlins | 5-3 | Win | 100 | 18 h 16 m | Show
The Mets look to build on their Tuesday win over the Miami Marlins, 8-3. The Mets are still in 4th place in the NL East at 11-14. They will have their ACE going today in Jacob deGrom. deGrom is 2-0 in his four starts with a 2.45 ERA and 0.955 WHIP. deGrom has been solid, not allowing more than two runs in any of his four start. The Marlins are in 2nd place in the NL East, despite just a 9-8 record. The Marlins have lost four straight now and seven of their last 10. Pablo Lopez will toe the rubber for the Marlins. Lopez is 2-1 in three starts with a 2.25 ERA. Price too steep here on the Mets, but I'm parlaying them with the Yankees for a 2-teamer here on Wednesday. |
08-19-20 | Rays v. Yankees -170 | 4-2 | Loss | -170 | 18 h 11 m | Show
Tampa Bay Rays took their game from the Yankees on Tuesday, 6-3. The Rays are now just 1 1/2 games back of the Yankees in the AL East and have won nine of their last 10 games. It won't be easy for the Rays here on Wednesday as they face the Yankees Ace in Gerrit Cole. Cole is 4-0 in his five starts with a 2.76 ERA and 0.852 WHIP. The Rays will counter with Tyler Glasnow. Glasnow is 0-1 in his four starts with a 7.004 ERA. Price too high for the Yankees, but as part of my 2-team parlay I will lay the price with them. Take Yankees as part of 2-team Parlay. |
08-19-20 | Phillies -140 v. Red Sox | Top | 3-6 | Loss | -140 | 13 h 43 m | Show |
The Boston Red Sox have really struggled this season, currently in last place in the AL East at 6-17. They have lost eight games in a row and nine of their last 10. The loss of Mookie Betts to the Dodgers seems to be playing a much bigger role then expected. The pitching staff has got hit hard, allowing a 2nd worst A.L 143 runs. The Sox will turn to Kyle Hart here on Wednesday for his second start of the season. Hart got pummeled in his only start, going 2 innings against the Rays and allowing seven hits and seven runs. The Philadelphia Phillies are in 3rd in the NL East at 8-9. They have won three straight so things are looking up for the team. Jake Arrieta is 1-2 in his three starts with a 4.02 ERA and 1.213 WHIP. I'm going to take the Phils here. Arrieta may not be his old self, but the Sox are really not their old selves. Take Philadelphia. |

Zack Godley will toe the rubber for the Sox with a 0-2 record in his three starts and a 11.33 ERA. Godley has not made it past four inning this season and is coming off a eight run performance against Tampa Bay. Tough call here but I give the Phillies the edge in this one. The Cubs are one of the best teams in baseball right now with a 13-6 record and 3 1/2 game lead in the NL Central. The Cubs have lost two straight games, but still have won seven of their last 10. Veteran Jon Lester gets the start today. Lester is 2-0 in his three starts and pitching excellent. Lester has a 1.06 ERA and 0.647 WHIP. Milwaukee is 9-10 on the season and looking to climb back to the .500 mark here today. They will start Josh Lindblom who is 1-0 in his three starts with a 5.68 ERA and 1.579 WHIP. |||||||
08-16-20 | Indians -136 v. Tigers | 8-5 | Win | 100 | 2 h 34 m | Show
The Indians continue to be one of the bright spots in this shortened season as they now are 12-9 on the season and 7-3 in their last 10 games. Their pitching staff is one of the best and have allowed just 57 total runs over their 21 games. Adam Plutko gets the start today for the Tribe. Plutko is 1-1 in his two starts with a 2.70 ERA and 1.000 WHIP. Plutko has pitched well in both his starts with just one free pass and six KO's. The Tigers have now lost four straight games and six of their last 10. They will send Michael Fulmer to the hill today. Fulmer has no record in his two starts with a 6.35 ERA and 1.764 WHIP. The Indians are hot and they have the much better staff. I'll take Cleveland here on Sunday. |

08-16-20 | Nationals v. Orioles +158 | 6-5 | Loss | -100 | 1 h 29 m | Show
The Baltimore Orioles have found themselves big dogs in a lot of their games, this despite being in 2nd place in the AL East with a 12-8 record. The O's have won seven of their last 10 games. Here again today they find them selves +1.60 dogs to a Washington team that is in last in the NL East with a 7-11 record. The Nationals have also lost seven of their last 10 games. In addition, the Nats will start John Means who is 0-1 in his two starts with a 7.71 ERA and 0.714 WHIP. Lots of value here on the Orioles as such a big dog. Let's take a chance and look for another payoff with them Play Baltimore. |
08-13-20 | Nationals v. Mets -129 | Top | 2-8 | Win | 100 | 2 h 54 m | Show |
Early action on the diamond here as the Nationals take on the Mets. Both these clubs are struggling so far this shortened season. The Nationals are 6-8 while the Mets are right behind them at 8-11. Neither club's pitching has look all that strong, especially the Mets who have had injuries to their starting staff. The Nats will start Austin Voth, who is 0-1 in his two starts. Voth has pitched well though with a 1.80 ERA and 0.700 WHIP. Voth has gone five innings in both starts and has allowed two total earned runs. The Mets will have David Peterson toe the runner today. Peterson is 2-1 in his three starts with a 3.78 ERA and 1.320 WHIP. Peterson seems to have a bit more innings under his belt and has been good enough thus far. I'm taking the Mets here on Thursday. |
08-12-20 | Diamondbacks v. Rockies -104 | Top | 13-7 | Loss | -104 | 4 h 35 m | Show |
Colorado still on top of the NL West at 12-5 and having won their last game and seven of their last 10 games. They have the 2nd best run differential in the West at +28. Antonio Senzatela gets the start today. He's 3-0 in his three starts with a 2.65 ERA and 1.176 WHIP. Senzatela has pitched very well so far for the Rockies. Arizona still in last place in the West at 7-11 overall. They have the worst run differential in the West at -26. Luke Weaver toes the rubber today for the D'backs. Weaver is 0-3 in his three starts with a 12.20 ERA and 2.130 WHIP. Big difference in pitchers here and teams. Everything falls to the Rockies in this one. Play Colorado. |
08-10-20 | Diamondbacks v. Rockies -125 | Top | 12-8 | Loss | -125 | 9 h 41 m | Show |
The Colorado Rockies have the top spot in the NL West with a 11-4 record. The Rocks did lose on Sunday, but have won seven of their last 10 overall. They have a run differential of +31, which is second in the NL to the Dodgers +41. The Rockies will start Jon Gray today. Gray is 0-1 in his three starts with a respectable 3.30 ERA and 0.979 WHIP. Gray has not allowed more than three earned runs in ay of his starts so he'll keep the team in the contest. Arizona has struggled, they are last in the NL West with a 6-10 mark and have the 2nd worst run differential in the NL with a -29. Robbie Ray will start today for the D'backs. Ray is 1-2 in his three starts with a horrible 9.45 ERA and 1.949 WHIP. Ray is coming off a five inning performance vs the Astros where he gave up six runs and six hits including three home runs. Going to be a tough night for the D'backs and Rays against this very good Rockies club. Play Colorado. |
08-09-20 | Indians -145 v. White Sox | 5-4 | Win | 100 | 7 h 23 m | Show
The Cleveland Indians rebounded nicely on Saturday as I had them to win and they did just that over the Sox, 7-1. The pitching has been great for the Tribe and continues to be so, holding each of their last eight opponents to three runs or fewer. In fact, they had back-to-back shutouts of the Reds and then held the Sox to just one run on Saturday. Shane Bieber starts today for the Tribe with a nifty 3-0 record in his three starts with a 0.83 ERA and 0.692 WHIP. Bieber has 27 KO's in his three starts with just three walks. Lucas Giolito toes the rubber today for the Sox. Giolito is 1-1 in his three starts with a 5.17 ERA and 1.404 Whip. The Indians pitching has been so good it's difficult to pass on them here with this pitcher. Play Cleveland. |
08-09-20 | Yankees v. Rays -126 | 3-4 | Win | 100 | 1 h 26 m | Show
The NY Yankees are 9-4 this season and three games ahead of 2nd place Baltimore. However, the Yanks have lost two of their three games to the Rays thus far. James Paxton starts for the Yankees. Paxton has really struggled in his two starts, going just four total innings and allowing eight runs. That's a 13.50 ERA and 3.250 WHIP for Paxton. The Rays will counter with Charlie Morton. Morton is 1-1 in his three starts with a 5.52 ERA and 1.363 ERA. While Morton hasn't been great, he has been light years ahead of Paxton. Take the Rays. |
08-08-20 | Astros v. A's -135 | 1-3 | Win | 100 | 5 h 10 m | Show
The Oakland A's are in first place in the AL West, now 3 1/2 games ahead of second place Houston. The A's are playing very well having won seven straight games including last night's extra inning win over the Astros, 3-2. The pitching has been excellent with just 45 runs allowed over 14 games. Frankie Montas will start today for the A's with a 1-1 record in his three starts. Montas has a 2.25 ERA and 1.313 WHIP. He has yet to allow more than two earned runs in any of his three starts. The Astros have now lost three straight games and six of their last 10. They will look to Framber Valdez here today. Valdez lost his only start this season, a 4 1/3 inning outing to the Dodgers. Valdez pitched well, allowing just two earned runs. Still, tough matchup here today for the Astros up against this red-hot A's team. I'll lay the price with the Athletics. |
08-08-20 | Indians -120 v. White Sox | 7-1 | Win | 100 | 3 h 10 m | Show
The Cleveland Indians look to rebound from their loss last night to the White Sox,0-2. Th pitching has been great for the Tribe, holding each of their last seven opponents to three runs or fewer. In fact, they had back-to-back shutouts of the Reds before last night's loss. Zach Plesac may be 0-1 in his two starts, but he's pitched well with a 1.80 ERA and 0.533 WHIP. He's allowed just seven total hits and three earned runs over his 15 innings with 17 KO's and just one BB. The White Sox are playing well, having won seven of their last 10 games. They will go with Matt Foster today who has yet to start a game this year. I'll take the visitor here today. I know what I have with an excellent pitcher in Plesac while the Sox pitcher has yet to show us anything. Play Cleveland. |
08-07-20 | Astros v. A's -121 | Top | 2-3 | Win | 100 | 10 h 37 m | Show |
The Houston Astros have just a 6-6 record and trail first place A's by 2 1/2 games. The Astros have lost two straight, but have a +9 run differential this season. The A's are 9-4 and atop the division. They have won six straight games and have a +15 run differential. The Astros will start Zack Greinke. Greinke has struggled thus far in his two starts with a 5.00 ERA. The A's will go with Chris Bassitt. Bassitt has two starts and is 1-0 with a 0.93 ERA and 0.931 WHIP. Bassitt is pitching great and I look for that to continue here tonight. Play Oakland. |
08-07-20 | Blue Jays +102 v. Red Sox | 3-5 | Loss | -100 | 8 h 58 m | Show
Blue Jays and Red Sox holding down the bottom two positions in the AL East right now, which is strange for both these teams. The Jays are 4-6 after having lost their last game. They have a -10 run differential. The Red Sox are 4-8 and have lost seven of their last 10 games. They also have a -10 run differential. Toronto will start Tanner Roark today who is 1-0 in his only start. Roark went five innings vs the Nationals and allowed three hits and one run. The Sox will counter with Ryan Weber who is 0-2 in his two starts with a 11.57 ERA and 2.429 WHIP. Jays have the much better starter going here today. Both teams struggling, but we can see why when Boston has to start the likes of Weber. Play Toronto. |
08-03-20 | Dodgers v. Padres +133 | 4-5 | Win | 133 | 13 h 36 m | Show
Padres are 6-4 to start their season, having lost two straight games. They return home where they started out 3-1 vs the Diamondbacks. The Padres have scored the most runs in the NL so far with 59. They will face a stingy Dodgers' pitching staff that has allowed only 24 runs thus far and is 7-3 on the season. The Dodgers opened up with two wins over then Giants, then dropped their next to the San Francisco. Since then they are 5-1. Walker Buehler starts for LA after going just 3 2/3 innings in his first start at Houston. He allowed two earned runs in that no decision. San Diego will start Chris Paddack who is 1-0 in two starts. He's allowed two total runs over 11 innings of work with just one walk and 10 KO's. The way Paddack has pitched I like getting the home team here as a little dog. Paddack should keep the Padres in the game. Take the dog here, play San Diego. |
08-02-20 | Rangers v. Giants -104 | 9-5 | Loss | -104 | 4 h 5 m | Show
Rangers are in last right now in the AL West with a 2-5 record. More concerning is the lack of run production. The Rangers have just 18 runs in seven games, last by a long shot in the A.L. Kolby Allard will make his first start here today. Allard came over to Texas from the Braves. Allard replaces Corey Kluber. Allard has 12 big league appearances with a 6.08 ERA. The Giants are 5-4 to start their season and have won two straight. Jeff Smardzija makes his second start of the season. He went four innings in his first start against the Padres, allowing four hits and five runs. I'm not very high on the Rangers and now with Kluber gone and Allard in, I'll take the Giants here on Sunday. Play Giants. |
08-02-20 | Mets v. Braves -120 | 0-4 | Win | 100 | 2 h 42 m | Show
Braves lost their opener and since then they are 4-0. Conversely, the Mets won their opener and now have lost four straight. Mets have suffered some big injuries to their starting rotation and that is going to hurt what was once one of the best starting rotations in baseball. Mets have to start David Peterson here today. Peterson did do well in his first start, going 5 2/3 innings vs the Red Sox and allowing just two runs. Braves will start Kyle Wright who is 0-1. Wright went just 2 2/3 innings with five earned runs. I still like the home team here today as they are on a winning streak and looking much better than the visitor. Take the Braves. |
07-29-20 | White Sox -113 v. Indians | Top | 4-0 | Win | 100 | 7 h 37 m | Show |
This rivalry was one of the first times Chicago has done so well over Cleveland. The White Sox won last year's series with the Tribe, 11-8, the most win by the Sox over the Indians since 2012. Cleveland starters have gone 2-0 in the restart with a 1.89 ERA. The Indians are 4-1 to start back up here and atop the AL Central. They have allowed just 11 runs and scored 22. Despite their opposite records with the Sox having just one win and the Indians four, I'm taking the visitor here. I had good success earlier with Giolito and I'm sticking with him here on Wednesday. |
07-27-20 | Mariners v. Astros -220 | 5-8 | Win | 100 | 11 h 6 m | Show
Seattle plays their final game of this series with the Astros. Seattle is 1-2 in the first three games. Very rare for the M's to beat the Astros. In fact, this weekend's win snapped a 19-game losing streak to the Astros. Houston averaging over 6 runs per game thus far in the season. Houston big favorite, but they are part of my 3-team parlay. Play Houston. |
07-27-20 | Brewers -165 v. Pirates | 6-5 | Win | 100 | 11 h 1 m | Show
Part of 3 team parlay: Both teams started the season at 1-2 as Milwaukee visits Pittsburgh here on Monday. Neither starter has much to go on here as both are questionable at best. However, I do give a big edge to the Brewers bullpen and hitting edges. I'll take the Brewers here on Monday. |
07-27-20 | Diamondbacks v. Padres -116 | 2-6 | Win | 100 | 8 h 5 m | Show
Part of 3 team parlay: Padres pitching and hitting looking very impressive thus far. Padres now have won seven of the last 10 meetings with the D'backs in San Diego. This has really been a home series and with the Pads at home here for game four, I'll take them. Play Padres. |
07-25-20 | Royals v. Indians -230 | 3-2 | Loss | -230 | 6 h 27 m | Show
Part of my 3-team parlay are the Indians. They should have little issue here today taking care of the Royals. Big price but value as part of this parlay. Tribe struggled a bit to score on Friday, but don't expect that to happen again here on Saturday. |
07-25-20 | Blue Jays v. Rays -142 | 1-4 | Win | 100 | 4 h 27 m | Show
Part of my 3-team parlay for Saturday is a big play on the Rays to bounce back after losing at home on Friday to these Jays. |
07-25-20 | Orioles v. Red Sox -192 | 7-2 | Loss | -192 | 3 h 53 m | Show
Early start here with the Sox as part of my 3-team parlay. Sox had no issues with this O's team on Friday and I expect same here today. Price to big to play straight, but part of this 3-team parlay we get some value. |
10-29-19 | Nationals +165 v. Astros | 7-2 | Win | 165 | 18 h 3 m | Show
What a roller coast of a World Series we have had thus far. The Nationals looked like they were going to sweep this series initially, taking the first two games at Houston. Then the Astros went into Washington and promptly returned the favor, sweeping all three games. Now the Nationals face elimination today as they go back to Houston for game six. Stephen Strasburg starts for the Nationals. Strasburg has four postseason starts as the Nats have won all four of those games. Strasburg has pitched 25 postseason innings and allowed six total runs. The Astros counter with Justin Verlander. Verlander has not been good in this or the past few postseasons. He has 25 innings in this year's playoffs as the Astros have won just two of those five starts and he's allowed 14 runs. I don't trust Verlander here today, especially at this price. I'll take the Nationals and see if we can get a game seven. Play Washington. |
10-25-19 | Astros v. Nationals +126 | 4-1 | Loss | -100 | 9 h 10 m | Show
The Washington Nationals look like a team that can sweep this series. Yet, here we are in game three back in Washington and the Nationals are once again a dog. I'm a bit surprised by that considering the Nationals have already won when Cole and Verlander have started for the Astros. Arguably the Astros 3rd or 4th starter in Zack Grienke goes tonight and is a favorite. Yes, really is a must win for the Astros, but teams in must win spots always have the most pressure. Grienke has three postseason starts and has allowed 10 runs in 14 innings. The Astros are 1-2 in those three starts. Anibal Sanchez looks to toe the rubber tonight for the Nats. Sanchez last start was Oct 11th vs the Cardinals and he brought a no-hitter into the eighth inning before allowing one hit over 7 2/3 innings for the 2-0 win. In fact, in his two post season starts he's allowed five total hits over 12 2/3 innings with just one run allowed. I had the Nationals as that big dog in game two and I'm taking them again here in game three. |
10-23-19 | Nationals +168 v. Astros | 12-3 | Win | 168 | 7 h 12 m | Show
Nationals seemed to be the charmed team this postseason. They are getting timely hitting, especially with two outs where they seem to do most of their damage. And, they are getting excellent pitching. They were a big dog in game one of the World Series to the Astros and pulled out the win, 5-4. Max Scherzer went a strong five innings in game one, allowing just five hits and two runs. More importantly, the Nats got to Gerritt Cole of the Astros. Cole went seven innings, but gave up eight hits and five runs. You have to go all the way back to May 22 for the last time Cole gave up that many runs. Game two tonight, the Nats will be another big dog as oddsmakers are making you pay for the Astros here tonight. Stephen Strassburg will go tonight for the Nats. Strassburg has gone 19 innings in the postseason, allowing just five total runs with 29 KO's and one walk. Justin Verlander will try and get the Astros even. But what's disconcerting with Verlander is how he's performed in the World Series. Verlander is 0-4 with a 5.67 ERA in five World Series starts. He's also allowed five home runs in his last 17 innings. Value here with the Nationals as they put all the pressure on the Astros in game two. The Nationals are worth a play as a big dog tonight. Play Washington. |
10-18-19 | Astros -140 v. Yankees | Top | 1-4 | Loss | -140 | 7 h 22 m | Show |
The Yankees are on the verge of elimination in the ALCS. They had their best shot in game four yesterday against a struggling Zack Grienke, but failed to capitalize. Now they have to face Justin Verlander in an elimination game. Verlander has started three games in the playoffs and the Astros are 2-1 in those starts. Verlander has allowed six runs over his 17 2/3 playoff innings. He hasn't been as sharp as normal, but he's was great in his first start and excellent in his third. The Yankees will turn to James Paxton tonight. Paxton has two playoff starts, with the Yankees 1-1 in those starts. Paxton has gone seven innings and allowed four runs. For some reason he hasn't been around long and don't expect much more tonight. If Paxton even hints at being in trouble the Yankees will go to the pen or another starter. At this point all pitchers for the Yankees will be available, except Tanaka. Still, the Yankees have to feel it's all over now. I'm taking the Astros to close out the ALCS and move on to face the Nationals in the World Series. Play Houston. |
10-17-19 | Astros v. Yankees -119 | 8-3 | Loss | -119 | 24 h 48 m | Show
The Astros have taken a 2-1 lead in this best of seven series after winning game three in New York, 4-1. The Yankees and Astros had the day off on Wednesday because of rain, so these pitchers have received an extra day off. Masahiro Tanaka gets the start today for the Yankees. Tanaka is 13-8 on the season with a 4.26 ERA. This is a matchup of game one. Tanaka went six innings and allowed one hit and no runs in that game. In fact, he's now 2-0 in the playoffs going 11 total innings and allowing four hits and just one run. The Astros counter with Zack Greinke. Greinke is 18-7 on the season with a 3.30 ERA. In the playoffs he's made two starts, taking losses in both games. Grienke has struggled, going 12 innings and allowing nine runs with the Astros being outscored in those starts, 3-17. The Yankees can't afford another loss here and go down 1-3 so this is the game and the pitching matchup they can do just that. Play the Yankees. |
10-15-19 | Cardinals v. Nationals -160 | 4-7 | Win | 100 | 7 h 30 m | Show
Thanksgiving is still more than a month away, but you can stick a fork in these birds because they are done. The Cardinals just don't have any answer to the Nationals pitching and it showed once again in game three as St Louis shook their lineup to see if they could get something going and all that did was result in one run. The Nats starting pitching is just too much for this team. Couple that with great two-out hitting by Washington and it's all but over now. Pat Corbin will toe the rubber for the Nats. Corbin is 14-8 with a 3.20 ERA. In his one postseason start, Corbin lost to the Dodgers, going six innings and allowing two earned runs. Corbin has also come in from the pen in key spots to get outs for the Nats. St Louis counters with Dakota Hudson who is 16-7 and has a 3.32 ERA. Hudson went 4 2/3 innings against the Braves in his one postseason start. He allowed four runs, but only one was earned. I don't really see how the birds can win this one, so I'm sticking with the team that I've been on each of the first three games. Play the Nationals. |
10-15-19 | Astros -154 v. Yankees | Top | 4-1 | Win | 100 | 14 h 23 m | Show |
The Astros look to regain home field advantage here in game three as the ALCS moves to Yankee Stadium. The Astros lost the opener 0-7 and then took game two, 3-2. Today, Gerrit Cole takes the mound. Cole is 22-5 on the season with a 2.37 ERA. Cole got two wins in the ALDS against Tampa Bay, going a total of 15 2/3 innings, allowing just six hits and one earned run. Cole has now allowed one run or no runs in seven of his last eight starts. The Yankees will counter with Luis Severino. Severino is 1-1 with a 1.13 ERA in just four starts. Serverino did pitch in the Twins series, going four innings and allowing four hits and no runs. Coles could last a while in this one, while I expect Severino will be gone in the first four to five innings. I like the Astros here in game three. Coles has been too good for too long to bypass. Take the Astros. |
10-14-19 | Cardinals v. Nationals -124 | 1-8 | Win | 100 | 24 h 32 m | Show
What can you say about this Nationals' starting pitching. Could be the hottest starting group in recent memory. Anibal Sanchez took a no hitting into the 8th inning of game one for the Nats becofe Martinez broke it up with a hit. Then on Sunday, Max Scherzer did almost the same, taking no-no into the late innings. The Nats pitching has held the Cardinals to just one run in this series thus car. If there is any chance for the Cardinals back in Washington, it lies on their Ace, Jack Flaherty. Flaherty was only 11-8, but had a 2.75 ERA. Flaherty pitched that game 5 win over the Braves, allowing four hits over six innings and just one run in a 13-1 blowout. The Nats will look to Stephen Strasburg. Strasburg was 18-6 this year with a 3.32 ERA. In his three postseason appearances, Strasburg has gone 15 innings and allowed just four earned runs. The price is reasonable in this one because of Flaherty. I'm taking the Nationals, they are just too hot to pass on right now. |
10-11-19 | Nationals +124 v. Cardinals | 2-0 | Win | 124 | 8 h 19 m | Show
The Nationals looked dead in the water in their game five at LA, trailing 0-3 before a late run and then back-to-back home runs by Rendon and Soto tied the game off reliever Clayton Kershaw. The Nationals then added a grand slam in the 10th by Kenrick and the Dodgers season came to an end. The Nationals have got timely hitting from the middle of their lineup and great starting pitching. They have used Strasburg and Corbin in relief too. Anibal Sanchez gets the start here in game one of the NLCS. Sanchez is 11-8 on ht season and pitched in the Dodgers series. He gave up one run over five innings for a no decision in the 4-10 loss. Sanchez has not allowed over three runs in any of his last five starts. The Cardinals used a 10-run first inning to put a quick end to the Braves season in game five. Today they start Mile Mikolas. Mikolas went five innings in the NLDS and gave up three hits and one run. He's now 9-14 on the season with a 4.10 ERA. I'm taking the small dog here in the Nationals. I love their pitching and they are getting timely hitting. Play the Nationals |
10-09-19 | Cardinals -107 v. Braves | 13-1 | Win | 100 | 6 h 24 m | Show
Game five of this NLDS to determine who goes to the NL Pennant matchup. The Cardinals opened this series with that big win at Atlanta, 7-6. They then lost the next two, 0-3 and 1-3 before taking game four at home, 5-4. Every game in this series has been close, three by just one run and the other by two runs. Jack Flaherty will get his second start in this series. In game two, Flaherty was a road favorite and allowed three runs over seven innings in the 0-3 Loss to the Braves. He's still been amazing, allowing just those three runs over his last 21 innings. He's struck out 25 batters in those three starts to just 4 walks. The Braves will also counter with game two starter, Mike Foltynewicz. Foltynewicz had a great start in game two, allowing no runs over seven innings. I look for a low scoring game here as both starters should go into the 6th or 7th the way they are throwing. I also like Flaherty to win this rematch. He's been the better pitcher recently. Take the Cardinals. |
10-07-19 | Yankees -140 v. Twins | Top | 5-1 | Win | 100 | 10 h 7 m | Show |
The Yankees can put an end to their best of five series with the Twins today as they lead the series 2-0. The Yankees power has come to the front in this series with 18 runs scored in the two games and allowing just six runs. Luis Severino gets the start. Severino has started just three games and has a 1-1 record this year and 1.50 ERA. He's pitched very well, allowing two total runs over 12 innings. The Twins will turn to Jake Odorizzi to keep them in the series. Odorizzi is 15-7 on the season with a 3.51 ERA. I see these teams as two different entities. The Yankees are made for the playoffs, while the Twins are a regular season team. It's showing right now in this series and I think the Twins are done today. Play the Yankees. |
10-07-19 | Astros v. Rays +128 | 3-10 | Win | 128 | 3 h 32 m | Show
Tampa Bay on the verge of elimination in their best of five series with the Houston Astros. The Rays will turn to Charlie Morton today to keep them alive. Morton had a great season with a 17-6 record and 2.97 ERA. Morton has not allowed a run in his last two starts (12 innings). Moreover, Morton has allowed three runs or fewer in each of his last six starts. Houston will look to Zack Greinke to close things out. Greinke is 18-5 on the season with a 3.06 ERA. Greinke has won his last four starts, allowing a total of five runs during that span. Not very often we get the Rays at home as a dog with a quality starter like Morton on the hill. I'm taking a chance that Morton keeps them in this one and we have a chance to take the game as a nice little dog. Play Tampa Bay. |
