08-22-21 | White Sox v. Rays -126 | 0-9 | Win | 100 | 3 h 31 m | Show
The Tampa Bay Rays continue to hold onto 1st place in the AL East, now 4-games ahead of the Yankees. The Rays have won seven of their last 10 games. They lost the opener of this series with the White Sox, 5-7 and won last ngiht, 8-4. The White Sox are running away with the AL Central, comfortably leading the 2nd place Indians by 10.5 games. The Sox will start Reynaldo Lopez today. Lopez is 1-0 in his three starts with a 0.82 ERA. Lopez has been good, but he's only gone 3,3 and 5 innings his his three starts. The Rays will start Chris Archer. Archer returns since making his first start back on April 10. Archer missed all of 2020 after having surgery. Tampa re-acquired Archer from the Pirates in a one-year deal. Should be interesting to see how far Archer goes in this one. Don't expect either starter to be around long. I'll take the Rays pen in this game. Play Tampa Bay. |

08-22-21 | Braves -154 v. Orioles | Top | 3-1 | Win | 100 | 2 h 26 m | Show |
The Baltimore Orioles have seen their losing streak reach 17 games after losing to the Braves on Saturday, 4-5. The O's have generated very little offensively during this losing streak, while the pitching has been ok at times, but not good either. The Braves have taken the first three games of this four game set with Baltimore. The Braves have a 8-game win streak and lead the Phillies by 5-games in the NL East. The Braves start Touki Toussaint today who is 2-2 in his six starts with a 4.01 ERA. He has allowed over two runs just one time in his six starts. John Means will toe the rubber for the Orioles today. Means is 5-5 in his 18 starts with a respectable 3.44 ERA. He's been worse of late though, 1-4 with a 6.54 ERA over his last seven starts. I'm sticking with the Braves again here today. |
08-21-21 | Diamondbacks v. Rockies -140 | 2-5 | Win | 100 | 9 h 44 m | Show
The Colorado Rockies continue to prove why they are one of the best home teams in baseball. Not only are they now 42-21 at Coor's Field, but they have won four straight on this homestand including a 3-game sweep of the San Diego Padres. They beat the D'backs last night, 9-4. The D'backs are one of the worst if not the worst teams in baseball with a 41-82 record. They are just 14-46 on the road. Azc Gallen starts for the D'backs with a 1-7 record and 5.03 ERA. He's been worse lately, going 0-4 with a 6.55 ERA his last seven games. Kyle Freeland will start for the Rockies. Freeland is 4-6 with a 4.40 ERA. However, he's been better of late, going 3-4 with a 3.38 ERA. I'm sticking with the heavily home favored rockies here. Play Colorado. |
08-19-21 | Mariners -135 v. Rangers | 9-8 | Win | 100 | 3 h 8 m | Show
The Seattle Mariners are not out of the race in the AL West, just 5.5 games back of Houston. They have taken the first two games of this set with the Rangers, both games by the same 3-1 score. The M's have now won six of their last seven games. The Rangers have lost 11 of their last 13 games and find themselves in last place in the AL West. The Mariners start Chris Flexen who is 10-5 on the season with a solid 3.78 ERA. The Rangers start Spencer Howard who is still looking for his first win of the season after nine starts. Howard has a 4.88 ERA and a 7.15 ERA at home. Mariners playing well and the Rangers, well this is always next year. Play Seattle. |
08-18-21 | Red Sox +107 v. Yankees | 2-5 | Loss | -100 | 7 h 29 m | Show
The Red Sox have lost two straight games and that has dropped them to 5-games back of the Rays in the AL East. The Yankees 5-game win streak has moved them into a 2nd place tie with the Yankees and 1 percentage point ahead of them though both teams are 5-back in the race. Nick Pivetta starts for the Red Sox with a 9-5 record and 4.20 ERA on the season. Andrew Heaney will counter for the Yankees. Heaney is 7-8 on the season with a 5.78 ERA. He's been slightly worse of late, going 3-2 with a 6.51 ERA over the last seven games. The Yankees have taken that 2nd Wild Card spot away from the Red Sox, at least for now. I look for a high scoring game here today. Play the OVER. |
08-18-21 | Indians -105 v. Twins | Top | 7-8 | Loss | -105 | 2 h 34 m | Show |
A pair of AL Central teams meet here on Wednesday, though both likely out of the race. The White Sox are running away with the division, now 11-games ahead of the Indians. The Indians and Twins have split the first two games of this series with Cleveland winning last night 3-1. Zach Plesac starts for the Indians today with his 7-4 record and 4.64 ERA. The Twins counter with Lewis Thorpe. Thorpe is 0-2 in his three starts this year with a 4.15 ERA. Plesac a much more seasoned veteran than Thorpe who has just three starts. I'll take Cleveland here today. Play Cleveland. |
08-17-21 | Padres v. Rockies -105 | 3-7 | Win | 100 | 11 h 51 m | Show
The Colorado Rockies are one of the biggest Home/Away teams in baseball. First, the Rockies are 24-games back in the NL West with a 53-66 record. The Rockies have a 14-45 road record, tied for the least road wins in baseball. However, at home in Coors field they are 39-21 after beating the Padres on Monday night. Only a few other teams in baseball have more home wins then the Rockies. For me, I don't really even care who the starters are going to be here today. I'll take a action play on the Rockies when they are playing at home. Play Rockies. |
08-17-21 | Cubs v. Reds -161 | Top | 2-1 | Loss | -161 | 9 h 21 m | Show |
The Chicago Cubs slide continues. Ever since they cleaned house at the trade deadline this team looks to be done. They have now lost 12 straight games after dropping Monday's game to the Reds, 4-15. Don't expect things to improve for the Cubs going forward. Kyle Hendricks will start today for the Cubs. He's been the loan brightspot with a 13-5 record on the season. His ERA is 4.15 and slightly worse of late with a 4.95 ERA. Vladimi Guierrrez starts for the Reds with a 8-3 record and 3.95 ERA. He's been better of late, posting a 5-0 record in his last seven starts with a 3.05 ERA. Still going against the Cubs here on Tuesday. Play Cincinnati. |
08-16-21 | Padres v. Rockies +123 | 5-6 | Win | 123 | 22 h 47 m | Show
The Colorado Rockies are one of the biggest Home/Away teams in baseball. First, the Rockies are 24-games back in the NL West with a 52-66 record. The Rockies have a 14-45 road record, tied for the least road wins in baseball. However, at home in Coors field they are 38-21. Only a few other teams in baseball have more home wins then the Rockies. Ryan Weathers starts for the Padres here on Monday. Weathers is 4-5 with a 4.72 ERA and 1.33 WHIP. Weathers only went 4 2/3 innings in his last start at home vs Miami, allowing seven hits and six earned runs. Antonio Senzatela starts for the Rockies. He's 2-9 on the season with a 4.71 ERA. However, those two wins came at home where he has a 4.04 ERA. The Rockies are 4-0 the last four games against the Padres in Colorado and 7-3 overall the last 10 meetings. Big home field advantage to Colorado and I plan to take advantage of it. Play Colorado. |
08-15-21 | Blue Jays v. Mariners +103 | 8-3 | Loss | -100 | 5 h 54 m | Show
The Toronto Blue have lost three straight games and have dropped 8.5-games back in the AL East. The Jays have dropped the first two games of this 3-game set, losing Friday 2-3 and then yesterday 3-9. Meanwhile the Mariners have won four straight games and are 8-games back of the Astros with a respectable, 63-55 record. The Jays will start Steven Matz with a 9-7 record and 4.28 ERA. He's been slightly worse on the road with a 2-4 record and 4.31 ERA. Logan Gilbert will toe the rubber for the M's. Gilbert is 5-3 on the season with a 4.05 ERA. He's been better of late with a 3-1 record and 3.86 ERA. I'll take the Mariners in the sweep today. Play Seattle. |
08-15-21 | Cubs v. Marlins -152 | 1-4 | Win | 100 | 2 h 38 m | Show
The Cubs losing streak has now grown to 10-games after losing Saturday's contest to the Marlins, 4-5. It looked like they would break their streak last night, but couldn't hold a late lead. The pitching has been horrible, the hitting horrible, this team is just bad right now. The Marlins may be in last place in the NL East, but they have won three straight games and are now tied with the Nationals in the division. Alec Mills will start for the Cubs with a 3-4 record and 3.46 ERA. The Marlins will counter with Elieser Hernandez who will make just his third start of the year and first since June 3rd. Hernandez gave up just one run in his last start at Pittsburgh but has no decisions on the season. Really I don't care who the Marlins start, they are playing the Cubs who look to have no desire to be on the field. Play Miami. |
08-14-21 | Yankees v. White Sox -133 | 7-5 | Loss | -133 | 8 h 36 m | Show
The White Sox walked off the Field of Dreams with a 9-8 exciting win over the Yankees in what might have been the best game of the year. The White Sox have a comfortable 11-game lead in the AL Central. The Yankees are 7.5-games back in the AL East. Jameson Taillon starts today for the Yankees with a 7-4 record and 3.82 ERA. Dylan Cease will toe the rubber for the Sox. Cease is 9-6 on the year with a 3.99 ERA. He's been better at home with a 5-2 record and 2.20 ERA. Excellent game here today with two good pitchers. Take the White Sox. |
08-14-21 | Cubs v. Marlins -148 | 4-5 | Win | 100 | 7 h 36 m | Show
The Miami Marlins have won two straight games, including last night's scorefest over the Cubs in game one of their series, 14-10. The Cubs have now lost nine straight games after cleaning house at the trade deadline. Zach Davies gets the start for the Cubs today. Davies is 6-9 on the season with a 5.26 ERA. He's been worse of late, with a 1-4 record and 7.76 ERA over his last seven starts. Additionally, he's allowed 14 runs over his last six innings. Zach Thompson will start for the Marlins. Thompson is 2-5 with a 3.28 ERA. He's been even better at home with a 2-2 record and 2.80 ERA. Take the Marlins today. |
08-12-21 | Yankees v. White Sox -160 | Top | 8-9 | Win | 100 | 9 h 53 m | Show |
Field of Dreams game here tonight as these teams meet in the Iowa cornfield made famous in the Field of Dreams movie. The Yankees and White Sox begin their series here today with the Sox. The Yankees took two of three games from the Royals, including last night's 5-2 win. The White Sox are leading comfortably in the AL Central with a 10.5-game lead over the Indians. The White Sox are the only team in the division with a positive run differential of +129 runs. The Yanks start Andrew Heaney who is 7-8 on the season with a 5.45 ERA. He's been worse lately, with a 3-3 record and 6.88 ERA over his last seven starts. The White Sox start Lance Lynn. Lynn is having an excellent season with a 10-3 record and 2.04 ERA. He's been even better of late, going 3-0 with a 1.85 ERA over his last seven games. The White Sox look to be the play I like best tonight. Play Chicago. |
08-11-21 | Tigers -112 v. Orioles | 5-2 | Win | 100 | 8 h 15 m | Show
The Tigers took game one of this series with the Orioles on Tuesday, 9-4. It was their fifth win in their last eight games. The Orioles have now lost six straight games after dropping Tuesday's contest. The Tigers will start Tarik Skubal tonight. Skubal is 7-9 on the season with a 4.39 ERA. He's coming off a start where he allowed no runs over five innings to the Red Sox in a win. The well traveled Matt Harvey starts for the O's. Harvey is 6-10 on the season with a lofty 6.13 ERA. I'm sticking with the team I had last night and that's the Tigers. Play Detroit. |
08-11-21 | Cardinals -161 v. Pirates | Top | 4-0 | Win | 100 | 7 h 4 m | Show |
The Cardinals took game one of this series with the Pirates on Tuesday, 4-1. The pitching staff combined for a 1-hitter vs the Pirates. That was the team's third win in the last four nights. The Pirates have now lost six straight games. Adam Wainwright starts for the Cardinals tonight with a 10-6 record and 3.48 ERA. Wainwright is 4-1 with a 3.26 ERA over his last seven games. William Crowe starts for the Bucs tonight. Crowe is 3-6 on the season with a 5.40 ERA. I'm going to take the visitors in this one. Play St Louis. |
08-10-21 | Tigers -121 v. Orioles | Top | 9-4 | Win | 100 | 7 h 21 m | Show |
The Detroit Tigers sit in third place in the AL Central with a 54-60 record, now 13.5-games back of the White Sox. The Orioles are in last place in the AL East, 29-games back of the Rays. The O's have lost five straight games and seven of their last 10 games. Casey Mize will start today for the Tigers. Mize is 6-6 on the season with a respectable 3.57 ERA. Keegan Akin is still looking for his first win of the season for the O's after eight starts. Keegan is 0-5 with a 8.82 ERA and 1.990 ERA. You won't win many games with those kind of numbers. Tigers have the much better starter on the hill against a poor O's team with a terrible starter. Take Detroit. |
08-10-21 | Reds v. Braves -105 | 2-3 | Win | 100 | 6 h 41 m | Show
The Atlanta Braves just two-games back of the Phillies in the NL East as they have won seven of their last 10 games to close in on 1st place. The Reds are in 2nd in the NL Central, just 5.5-games back of the Brewers. The Reds have won seven of their last 10 also. Sonny Gray starts for the Reds with a 4-6 record and 4.44 ERA. He's been a bit worse over the last seven starts with a 5.56 ERA. Drew Smyly will toe the rubber for the Braves. Smyly is 7-3 on the season wwith a 4.50 ERA. He's been better last seven starts with a 3-0 record and 3.41 ERA. I'll take the Braves here tonight in this battle of 2nd place teams. Play Atlanta. |
08-07-21 | Angels +253 v. Dodgers | 3-5 | Loss | -100 | 10 h 4 m | Show
Freeway series here has the LA Angels at Chavez Ravine to take on their cross-town rivals, LA Dodgers. Can't say both teams having same success this year. The Angels are in 4th place in the AL West with a 56-54 record. They have won four straight games though. The Dodgers are 65-45 and in 2nd in the NL West, 4-games back of the Giants. The Angels will start Jaime Barria who is 2-0 in his only two starts this year. Barria has allowed just two runs over 13 2/3 innings for a 1.32 eRA and 0.805 WHIP. The Dodgers will start Julio Urias who is 13-3 on the season with a 3.40 ERA and 3.88 ERA at home this year. If Barria pitches the way he has in his first two starts, this has the chance for a major upset here on Saturday. I'll take that shot. Play the Angels. |
08-07-21 | Red Sox v. Blue Jays -158 | Top | 0-1 | Win | 100 | 4 h 35 m | Show |
The Blue Jays have won four straight and eight of their last 10 games to move within 6.5-games of 1st place in the AL East. The Red Sox have dropped to 2.5-games back of the Rays in the East after losing two straight games and eight of their last 10. Today, it's a doubleheader and in game one Jim has his play set to win. Nick Pivetta will go for the Sox in game one, he's 8-5 on the season with a 4.57 ERA. Robbie Ray will toe the rubber for the Jays in the first game. Ray is 9-5 with a 3.04 ERA and slightly better 2.47 ERA in his last seven starts. I'm sticking with the hot team here. Take the Blue Jays in game one with Ray. |
08-06-21 | Marlins v. Rockies -155 | Top | 2-14 | Win | 100 | 9 h 27 m | Show |
Battle of bottom dwellers here as the last place Miami Marlins take on the 2nd to last Colorado Rockies. The Marlins are 5-5 in their last 10 games and have a 20-35 road record. The Rockies are one of the worst if not the worst road teams at 13-40. However, at Coors field they are pretty good with a 35-21 record. Miami starts Sandy Alcantara who is 6-9 on the season with a 3.05 ERA. He's slightly worse on the road with a 3.57 ERA. German Marquez starts for the Rockies who is 9-8 on the season with a 3.51 ERA. He's been very good at Coors with a 6-2 record and 3.29 ERA. This one is all about home field for the Rockies who win at home. Play Colorado. |
08-06-21 | Tigers v. Indians -134 | 1-6 | Win | 100 | 8 h 58 m | Show
Cleveland and Detroit are two and three in the AL Central, but have a lot of work to do as the Indians trail first place White Sox by 9.5-games and the Tigers trail by 11-games. The Tigers will send Matt Manning to the hill today. Manning is 2-4 on the season with a 5.58 ERA and is much worse on the road at 0-3 with a 8.19 ERA. Cleveland starts Cal Quantrill who is 2-1 on the season with a 4.18 ERA. He's been even better his last seven starts with a 2-0 record and 3.11 record. I'll take the host in this one. Play Cleveland. |
08-06-21 | Red Sox v. Blue Jays -134 | 4-12 | Win | 100 | 5 h 12 m | Show
Blue Jays have been hot of late, winning eight of their last 10 games and three in a row. They are trying to stay in the AL East as they are 4th, but only 6.5-games back of the Rays. Red Sox are 2nd in the division, now 1.5-games back of the Rays after losing seven of their last 10 games. The Sox will start Nathan Eovaldi who is 9-6 on the season with a 3.63 ERA. He isn't quite as good on the road where he is 4-3 with a 4.25 ERA. The Jays will start Alek Monoah who is 3-1 on the year with a nifty 2.47 ERA. He's been very good at home with a 2-0 record and 1.54 ERA. I'll take the host here today, play Toronto. |
08-06-21 | Mets v. Phillies -106 | 2-4 | Win | 100 | 5 h 9 m | Show
NL East leader NY Mets will play a pivotal series here with the second place Phillies in Philadelphia. The Mets lead by just a half game and the Phillies have been hot, winning their last five games. Marcus Stroman starts for the Mets with a 7-10 record and 2.80 ERA. He's been not too good of late, posting a 1-5 record and 3.93 ERA over his last seven games. Kyle Gibson will go for the Phillies. Gibson is 7-3 on the year with a 2.86 ERA. He's been great at home with a 5-1 record and 1.77 ERA. I'm taking the Phillies here tonight as they take over 1st place in the East. |
08-05-21 | Red Sox -127 v. Tigers | 1-8 | Loss | -127 | 3 h 38 m | Show
The Boston Red Sox have lost six of their last 10 games and dropped to 1-game back of the Tampa Bay Rays in the AL East. Detroit is in 3rd in the AL Central, 12-games back of first place Chicago White Sox. Martin Perez starts for the Sox today. Perez is 7-7 on the season with a 4.56 ERA. He's been better on the road with a 4-3 record and 3.40 ERA. The Tigers will start Tarik Skubal who is 6-9 on the season with a 4.61 ERA. He's been slightly worse over the last seven games with a 2-3 record and 4.80 ERA. I'll take the Sox here today as they fight for first place. Play Boston. |
08-04-21 | Braves v. Cardinals -103 | Top | 7-4 | Loss | -103 | 7 h 37 m | Show |
The Braves and Cardinals have almost identical records, however the Braves are just 2.5-games back of the Mets in the NL East while the Cardinals are 10-games back of the Brewers in the NL Central. Both teams are 5-5 over their last 10 games. The Braves took the opener in this series on Tuesday, 6-1. The Braves start Drew Smyly who is 7-3 on the season with a 4.40 ERA. He will face JA Happ who came over from the Twins in a trade. Happ was just 9-10 for the Twins with a 6.77 ERA. I like when pitchers come over from the AL to the NL in their first start. I'll take a shot here tonight with Happ and the Cardinals. |
08-03-21 | Cubs v. Rockies -132 | Top | 6-13 | Win | 100 | 9 h 6 m | Show |
The Chicago Cubs pretty much cleaned house at the trade deadline, moving most of their high priced talent to other teams. Most visible being Chris Bryant, who was sent to the Giants. The Cubs are obviously playing for the future as they sit 13-games back in the NL Central and have little hope for closing that distance. The Rockies aren't in any better position. Colorado is 21-games back in the NL West. The Rockies have a horrible road record of 13-40, but respectable at home with a 33-20 record. Zach Davies starts today for the Cubs with a 6-7 record and 4.39 ERA. The Rockies start Kyle Freeland who is only 1-6 on the season with a 4.52 ERA. However, Freeland has been much better of late with a 1.98 ERA in his last seven starts. I'll take the Rockies at home tonight where they have been very good. Play Colorado. |
08-01-21 | Red Sox v. Rays -160 | 2-3 | Win | 100 | 7 h 29 m | Show
The top two teams in the AL East battle it out for first place here today. The Rays lead the Red Sox by just a half game, so a Boston win puts them back into the lead. The Rays have taken over the top spot thanks to a three-game win streak coupled with a 3-game Boston losing streak. Nick Pivetta starts today for the Red Sox with a 8-4 record and 4.51 ERA. Shane McClanahan starts for the Rays. McClanahan is 4-4 with a 3.80 ERA and slightly better 3.13 ERA over his lat seven starts. I'm sticking with the home team here today. Play Tampa Bay. |
08-01-21 | Astros v. Giants -112 | 3-5 | Win | 100 | 4 h 27 m | Show
The NL leading SF Giants got a welcome addition to their lineup with the big trade deadline acquisition of Chris Bryant from the Cubs. He should provide a much need punch to this lineup. The Giants beat the Astros last night in a homerun slugfest, 8-6. The Giants hit 5 Home runs in the win. Luis Garcia starts today for the Astros. Garcia is 7-4 with a 3.20 ERA on the season. Though he is coming off a outing where he allowed five runs over 4 2/3 innings to the Mariners. Logan Webb starts for the Giants. Webb is 4-3 with a 3.41 ERA and a nifty 2-0 record and 1.67 ERA at home. I'll take the Giants here in game three of this series. |
08-01-21 | Mariners -138 v. Rangers | Top | 3-4 | Loss | -138 | 3 h 56 m | Show |
Very rare win for the Rangers on Saturday, just their second in their last 16 games. They needed extra innings to win 5-4 after trailing in the bottom of the 10th. Jonah Heim hit a walk-off home run for that very rare of wins lately. Can the Rangers win two in a row? I don't believe they can. Marco Gonzales will start for the M's here today with a 3-5 record and 5.35 ERA. Mike Foltynewicz gets the go for the Rangers. Foltynewicz has not been good with a 2-10 record and 6.11 ERA. He's 1-3 with a 7.30 ERA over his last seven starts. I'm betting the Rangers can win another in a row today. Play Seattle. |
07-31-21 | Mariners -128 v. Rangers | Top | 4-5 | Loss | -128 | 8 h 48 m | Show |
The Mariners beat the Rangers in last night's series opener, 9-5. It was the team's fifth win in their last seven games. The Rangers have lost two straight and 14 of their last 15 games. The M's will start Tyler Anderson tonight with a 5-8 record and 4.35 ERA. The Rangers will start Taylor Hearn with a 0-1 record in his two starts with a 9.81. Rangers just having a world of issues these days and it doesn't look to improve tonight. Play Seattle. |
07-30-21 | A's -111 v. Angels | Top | 2-0 | Win | 100 | 10 h 42 m | Show |
The Oakland A's have won two straight games, though they still trail 1st place Houston by 5.5-games. They will take on the 4th place Angels, who trail Houston by 11.5-games. The A's will start Chris Bassitt, who is having a great season with a 10-3 record and a 3.46 ERA. The Angels will counter with Patrick Sandoval who is 3-4 on the season with a 3.36 ERA and slightly worse 4.41 ERA at home. I'll take the visitor in this one. Play Oakland. |
07-30-21 | Mariners -147 v. Rangers | 9-5 | Win | 100 | 8 h 9 m | Show
The Seattle Mariners look to snap a 2-game losing skid here tonight. The M's are 8-games back in the AL West with a 55-48 record. They will take on last place Texas tonight. The Rangers have lost nine of their last 10 games as these teams open their 3-game series. The Rangers are 26.5-games back in the West. The Rangers will start Kolby Allard, who is just 1-8 on the season. Allard has a 5.30 ERA and slightly worse 6.29 home ERA. While the M's are officially undecided on their pitcher, it looks like it could be Logan Gilbert who is 4-2 on the season. Gilbert has a 3.81 ERA and a nice 2.35 road ERA. No matter who starts for the Mariners I'll be on that side here tonight. Play Seattle. |
07-30-21 | Yankees v. Marlins +150 | 3-1 | Loss | -100 | 7 h 14 m | Show
Interleague action here on Friday has the Miami Marlins hosting the NY Yankees. The Marlins are last in the NL East, but they still have a +4 run differential. The Yankees have a -6 run differential and are in 3rd place in the AL East, 8.5-games back of the Red Sox. The Yankees will start Jameson Taillon who is 6-4 on the season with a 4.36 ERA. He's been much worse on the road with a 6.08 ERA in eight starts. Zach Thompson may only be 2-3 in his seven starts, but he has a nice 2.73 ERA and is 2-1 at home with a 2.81 ERA. Marlins a big dog here and a live one with Thompson on the hill. Play Miami. |

The Cincinnati Reds and Chicago Cubs finish their four game set here today. The Reds are up 2-1 in this series. The lost the first game 5-6, but have since outscored the Cubs by a 15-6 margin. Luis Castillo will start for the Reds. Castillo is 4-10 with a 4.20 ERA. However, he's improved greatly with a 2-1 record and 1.61 ERA over his last seven starts. Alec Mills will start for the Cubs. Mills is 2-3 with a 3.58 ERA. Cubs likely will be dumping some high priced talent as the trade deadline looms closer. I'll take the Reds here today as they have the hitting and Castillo is improving. Play Cincinnati. |
07-29-21 | Yankees -122 v. Rays | 0-14 | Loss | -122 | 1 h 54 m | Show

Patino has allowed 11 runs over his last 11 1/3 innings. Cole may not be having the great year, but he's still one of the best and faces a poor pitcher here today for the Rays. Take the Yankees. |
07-28-21 | Reds -106 v. Cubs | 8-2 | Win | 100 | 8 h 11 m | Show
Cincinnati in 2nd place in the NL Central with a 52-49 record, 7-games back of the 1st place Brewers. The Cubs are in 4th place, 9.5-games back of the Brewers. Cubs looking to start dumping high priced players as it looks like they won't make the postseason. Zach Davies starts today for the Cubs with a 4.30 ERA and slightly worse 4.84 ERA over his last seven starts. Tyler Mahle will toe the rubber for the Reds. Mahle is having a fine season with a 7-3 record and 3.83 ERA. He's been very god on the road with a 5-1 record and 2.11 ERA. I'll take the Reds here today. Play Cincinnati. |
07-28-21 | Cardinals -108 v. Indians | 2-7 | Loss | -108 | 2 h 39 m | Show
Interleague action today has the St Louis Cardinals playing at the Cleveland Indians. The Cardinals are 51-50, finally climbing back over the .500 mark. They have won seven of their last 10 games. The Cleveland Indians may be in 2nd in the AL Central, but they trail first place Chicago by 9.5-games. Kwang-Hyun Kim will start for the Cards. Kim is 6-5 on the season with a 2.88 ERA. HE's been even better of late with a 5-1 mark and 1.88 ERA. The Indians will start Zach Plesac. Plesac is 5-3 on the season with a 4.30 ERA. He's been slightly better at home with a 4.07 ERA and 0.952 WHIP. I like this to be a lower scoring game. Play UNDER. |
07-28-21 | Tigers +125 v. Twins | 17-14 | Win | 125 | 2 h 38 m | Show
Tigers came from behind on Tuesday as a big dog to get the money in extra innings over the Twins, 6-5. Now they look to do it again here tonight, only as a smaller dog. The Tigers have snapped a 5-game losing streak, but had won seven in row before that. They are in 3rd in the AL Central, 13-games back of the White Sox. The Twins are in last in the Central, 17.5-games back. They had lost six of their last 10 games. Wily Peralta will start today for the Tigers. Peralta has been good in his seven starts, posting a 3-2 record and nice 2.65 ERA. JA Happ will start for the Twins. Happ is 5-5 in his 18 starts with a 6.14 ERA. He's allowed 11 runs over his last 13 innings of work. Still not sure why the Tigers are a decent dog against a last place Minnesota team. They have the better start pitching too. Take Detroit. |
07-27-21 | Rockies v. Angels -129 | 12-3 | Loss | -129 | 10 h 0 m | Show
Interleague game here on Tuesday as the Angels welcome the Colorado Rockies to twon. The Rockies have the bad luck of plying in the best division in baseball, the NL West, where they are 19.5-games back and done for the year. The Rocks have lost three straight games and six of their last 10. The Angels have won three straight games but still train in the AL West by 10-games to Houston. Colorado will start Austin Gomber. Gomber is 7-5 in his 16 starts with a 3.74 ERA. However, he hasn't done well on the road with a 3-4 record and 5.06 ERA. The Angels start Jose Suarez for just the fourth time this year. Suarez is 1-2 with a 3.95 ERA. I'll take the Angels here today. Play LA Angels. |
07-27-21 | Tigers +175 v. Twins | 6-5 | Win | 175 | 8 h 57 m | Show
AL Central battle here has the third place Detroit Tigers taking on the last place Minnesota Twins. The Tigers have lost four straight, but that they have been battling. They lost to the Royals by run run and lost last night to the Twins by one run. Before this recent losing streak they had won seven straight games. The Tigers start Tyler Alexander today who is 0-0 in his four starts with a 3.37 ERA. The Tigers have won three of his four starts this season. Kenta Maeda starts for the Twins. Maeda is 4-4 on the season with a 4.75 ERA. Not sure what warrants the Twins being almost a 2-dollar favorite here today. The Tigers battle in just about every game and that makes them a good shot at this price on Tuesday. Play Detroit. |
07-27-21 | Nationals v. Phillies -119 | 6-4 | Loss | -119 | 7 h 27 m | Show
NL East battle here today as Philadelphia hosts Washington in game two of their series. The Phillies rallied for three runs in the bottom of the 9th inning to take game one of the series, 6-5. The Phils are now just 3.5-games back of the Mets in the East while the Nationals dropped to 8.5 back. The Nationals have also lost five straight games. Erick Fedde starts for the Nats today with a 4-7 record and 4.88 ERA. He's been slightly worse of late, going 1-3 with a 5.51 ERA over his last seven starts. Matt Moore starts for the Phillies. He's still looking for his first win after going 0-2 in his first eight starts with a 6.32 ERA. Neither pitcher looking all that good, but I like the Phillies bullpen to be the standout in this game against a Nationals team mired in a losing streak. Play Philadelphia. |
07-26-21 | White Sox -116 v. Royals | Top | 3-4 | Loss | -116 | 8 h 31 m | Show |
The Chicago White Sox are walking away with the AL Central division, now up 9-games over 2nd place Cleveland. They are also the only team in the division with a winning record and a plus differential in runs with +115. The Royals sit four in the division, 16-games back of the Sox. The Royals have won five straight games. Kansas City will start Mike Minor today, who is 7-8 on the season with a 5.45 ERA. He's been worse than that over his last seven starts with a 2-5 record and a 7.28 ERA. Dallas Keuchel will start for the Sox with a 7-3 record and 4.16 ERA. He's bee slightly better in his last seven starts with a 3.82 ERA. I like the Sox here today with the better team and starter going. Play Chicago. |
07-23-21 | Tigers +108 v. Royals | 3-5 | Loss | -100 | 9 h 36 m | Show
The Detroit Tigers playing great ball of late as they have won seven straight games. They just swept the Texas Rangers four games to none and the Twins before that, three games to none. The Royals have a modest 2-game win streak going here. Wily Peralta will start for the Tigers with his 3-1 record in six starts. Peralta has a nifty 1.71 ERA and 0.947 WHIP. Kris Bubic will start for the Royals. Bubic has a 1-3 record in eight starts with a 6.34 ERA. I like the visitors here today as they are on nice win streak and have the better starter going. Play Detroit. |
07-23-21 | Yankees +110 v. Red Sox | 2-6 | Loss | -100 | 8 h 36 m | Show
This storied rivalry continues here on Friday as the Yankees lost to the Red Sox on Thursday, 4-5. The Red Sox hold a one-game lead in the AL East over the Tampa Bay Rays with the Yankees a distant 8-games back. The Yankees will start Gerrit Cole here tonight. Cole has a 10-4 record this season with a 2.63 ERA. The Sox will counter with Eduardo Rodriquez, who is 7-5 on the season with a 5.19 ERA. Cole the much better starter here today while the Sox playing the better ball overall. I'm going to take the visitors in this one. PLay the Yankees. |
07-22-21 | Cubs v. Cardinals -115 | Top | 2-3 | Win | 100 | 8 h 58 m | Show |

Kim is 5-5 on the season with a 2.87 ERA. He's been very good of late with a 4-1 record and 1.64 ERA over his last seven starts. I had the Cards last night, I'll be on them again here tonight. Play St Louis. |
07-21-21 | Cubs v. Cardinals -118 | Top | 2-3 | Win | 100 | 8 h 12 m | Show |
NL Central matchup here today has the 3rd place Chicago Cubs and St Louis Cardinals meeting up. Both teams tied with 47-48 records. Adam Wainwright will start tonight for the Cards. Wainwright is 7-6 with a 3.71 ERA. However, he's been better at home with a 4-4 record and 2.84 ERA and 0.973 WHIP. Cubs will send Kyle Hendricks to the hill tonight. Hendricks is 12-3 on the season with a 3.90 ERA. He's been slightly better on the road with a 3.40 ERA. This should be a very good matchup. I will take the Cardinals here tonight with Wainwright pitching well at home. Play St Louis. |
07-20-21 | Rangers v. Tigers -118 | 1-4 | Win | 100 | 10 h 21 m | Show
The Texas Rangers are last in the NL West, now 21.5-games back of Houston. The Rangers have lost six straight games and eight of their last 10 games. The Detroit Tigers are in 3rd in the AL Central with a 44-51 record. They are 13.5-games back of the White Sox and have won four straight games. The Rangers start Dane Dunning tonight. Dunning is 3-6 on the season with a 4.21 ERA. He's been much worse on the road with a 0-4 record and 6.54 ERA. The Tigers will start Tarik Skubal tonight who is 5-7 on the season with a 4.45 ERA. He's been better at home with a 3.78 ERA. Rangers in a bad slump with a poor pitcher on the hill. I'll take the host in this one. Play the Tigers. |
07-19-21 | Mets v. Reds -111 | Top | 15-11 | Loss | -111 | 9 h 22 m | Show |
The NY Mets continue to hold onto their first place slot in the NL EAST, with a 2-game lead over the Phillies and a 4-game lead over the Braves. The Mets have lost two games recently after a 5-5 stretch over their last 10 games. The Cincinnati Reds are in 2nd place in the NL Central, but they are 7-games back of the Brewers. The Reds look to snap a 3-game losing streak today at home to the Mets. The Mets will start Jerad Eickhoff who is 0-1 after just two starts this season. His last start coming on June 28th at Washington where he allowed five runs and eight hits over six innings. Vladimir Gutierrez will toe the rubber today for the Reds. Gutierrez is 4-3 in his nine starts with a 4.29 ERA. He has two excellent starts in a row, allowing three total runs over 12 innings. I'll take the Reds to bounce back today and snap that losing streak. Play Cincinnati. |
07-18-21 | Padres v. Nationals -107 | 7-8 | Win | 100 | 3 h 58 m | Show
The San Diego Padres have faded to 3rd in the NL West, now 5.5 games back of the Giants. At 5-5 in their last 10 games that's just not good enough to stick with two of the best teams in baseball in the Giants and Dodgers. Meanwhile, the Nationals are 4th in the NL East with a 42-48 record. The Nats have lost five straight now after Saturday's setback. Max Scherzer will try and end that losing skid today. Scherzer is 7-4 on the season with a nifty 2.66 ERA. He's been better at home with a 1.90 ERA and sizzling 0.697 WHIP. Joe Musgrove will toe the rubber today for the Padres. Musgrove is 5-7 on the season with a 3.18 ERA. His ERA has gone up the last seven games to 4.30. Today, I like the Nats to end their losing streak with their Ace on the hill. Play Washington. |
07-18-21 | Twins v. Tigers +115 | Top | 0-7 | Win | 115 | 3 h 41 m | Show |
An AL Central battle here of teams in the mid-part of the race. The Minnesota Twins have climbed out of last place and now are in 4th, 16-games back of the White Sox. Meanwhile, the Tigers are in 3rd, 14-games back. The Tigers have won two straight against the Twins and look for the sweep here today before welcoming to Texas to town. The Twins start JA Happ today. Happ is 5-4 on the season with a 5.90 ERA. He's been slightly worse over his last seven starts with a 6.75 ERA. The Tigers will start Wily Peralta today. Peralta is 2-1 in his five starts with a 2.19 ERA. He has one start at home where he beat Houston, allowing no runs in a no decision. I'll take the Tigers in a sweep here today with Peralta. Play Detroit. |
07-17-21 | Astros +103 v. White Sox | 1-10 | Loss | -100 | 9 h 41 m | Show
The Houston Astros are holding onto a 3.5-game lead in the AL West over the Oakland A's. The Astros have won two straight games and seven of their last 10. The Chicago White Sox are in 1st in the AL Central and lead the Cleveland Indians by 8-games. The White Sox lost to the Astros on Friday but have won six of their last 10 games. Jake Odorizzi will start today for the Astros. Odorizzi is 3-4 with a 3.95 ERA. He's been better of late with a 3-2 record and 2.55 ERA over his last seven starts. Lucas Giolito starts for the Sox with a 7-6 record and 4.15 ERA. Giolito is 2-2 with a 4.79 ERA over his last seven starts. Astros playing too well to overlook in this spot. Take Houston. |
07-17-21 | Marlins +107 v. Phillies | 2-2 | Push | 0 | 7 h 7 m | Show
The Miami Marlins are a very strange team. They are in last place in the NL East with a 40-51 record, yet they have the best run differential in the division at +21 runs. The Philadelphia Phillies are in 2nd in the division with a 45-45 record and 3-games back of the Mets. Zach Thompson starts for the Marlins with a 2-2 record in his five starts. Thompson has a nice 2.63 ERA and 1.000 WHIP. He has allowed two runs or fewer in four of his starts and three runs in his last start. Vincent Velasquez will toe the rubber for the Phillies with a 3-4 record in his 14 starts. Velasquez has a 5.24 ERA and a 6.89 ERA over his last seven starts. Marlins have the better starter and always a good dog play. Play Miami. |
07-16-21 | Mariners +131 v. Angels | 6-5 | Win | 131 | 11 h 59 m | Show
The LA Angels finished the first half of the season with a 7-3 run in their last 10 games. Still, they are 4th in the AL West with a 45-44 record, 9-games back of the Astros. The Seattle Mariners were 6-4 to close out the first half of the season and are in 3rd in the West, 7-games back of the Astros. Chris Flexen will start for the Mariners today. Flexen had a nice 1st half of the season with a 8-3 record through 16 starts. He had a 3.51 ERA and a 2.62 ERA his last seven starts. Andrew Heaney will go for the Angels. Heaney was 5-6 in the 1st half with a 5.38 ERA. He was 4-3 in his last seven starts with a 5.45 ERA. Flexen has been really good and the better starter today. Plus we get him at a dog price. Value here on the visitors. Play Seattle. |
07-16-21 | Dodgers v. Rockies +180 | 10-4 | Loss | -100 | 10 h 2 m | Show
The LA Dodgers had a fine first half, one of the best in baseball if not for the Giants. The Giants lead the NL West with baseball's best record of 57-32. Dodgers have second most wins in baseball, but still 2-games back of the Giants. The Rockies have been steadily improving, though they have no shot in this division sitting 18-games back. Julio Urias will start for the Dodgers. Urias is 11-3 on the season with a 3.64 ERA. Antonio Senzatela is 2-8 for the Rockies through 17 starts. He has a 4.58 ERA and an even better 3.75 home ERA. Considering the Rockies improved play and playing at home with a pitcher that has been decent in Coors, I'll take the huge dog price here with the host. Play Colorado. |
07-11-21 | Diamondbacks v. Dodgers -227 | 4-7 | Win | 100 | 6 h 34 m | Show
Dodgers scored 22 runs on Saturday against this Arizona team. The D'backs likely used everyone in the pen and that is bad news for today. Dodgers to big a favorite to lay by themselves, but they are part of my 3-team MLB parlay. |
07-11-21 | Rockies v. Padres -176 | 3-1 | Loss | -176 | 6 h 33 m | Show
It's a 3-team race in the NL West as the Padres right now are that third team in third place. The Padres continue to be a big hitting team and today should have little issue with this poor Rockies team. Play San Diego as part of my 3-team Sunday MLB parlay. |
07-11-21 | Nationals v. Giants -193 | 1-3 | Win | 100 | 6 h 31 m | Show
Giants holding onto a slim lead in the NL West over the Dodgers. Giants are a big favorite here today but I'm going to include them as part of my 3 team baseball parlay. |
07-10-21 | Yankees v. Astros -104 | Top | 1-0 | Loss | -104 | 18 h 31 m | Show |
The New York Yankees took game one of their series with the Houston Astros on Friday, 4-0. Even with that win, the Yankees are just 5-5 their last 10 games and 9-games back of the Red Sox in the AL East. The Astros have dropped two straight, but still maintain a 4.5-game lead in the NL West over the Oakland A's. The Yankees will start Gerrit Cole here today who is 8-4 on the season with a 2.91 ERA. However, he has struggled a bit over his last seven starts with just a 2-2 record and 4.69 ERA. Zack Greinke will start for the Astros with a 8-2 record and 3.64 ERA. He's 4-0 with a 3.15 ERA over his last seven starts. Two veteran, top line starters here today, but I'll take the Astros in this one. Play Houston. |
07-10-21 | Phillies v. Red Sox -156 | 11-2 | Loss | -156 | 6 h 33 m | Show

The Phillies are in 3rd in the NL East with a 42-44 record. The Phillies will start Matt Moore today. Moore is 0-1 in his five starts with a 6.30 ERA. The Red Sox will start Martin Perez with his 7-4 record in his 17 starts. Perez has a 3.89 ERA and has allowed just four runs over his four start. Take the Red Sox today. |
07-09-21 | Nationals v. Giants -143 | 3-5 | Win | 100 | 12 h 49 m | Show
Total collapse of the Washington Bullpen last night in San Diego. The Nationals jumped out to a 8-0 lead and then gave it all away to lose 8-9 in the 9th inning. They used about every reliever they had in the bullpen last night. Now they have to go to 1st place San Francisco to play the Giants. Paolo Espino is 2-1 for the Nats with a 2.41 ERA, but he doesn't have enough starts yet to know if he's that good or just has been fortunate. Logan Webb will start for the Giants with a 4-3 record and a 3.94 ERA. He's allowed just two total runs over his last three starts (17 innings). Have to side with Giants here against what should be a depleted Nats bullpen. Play the Giants. |
07-09-21 | Yankees v. Astros -130 | 4-0 | Loss | -130 | 9 h 23 m | Show
The New York Yankees are tumbling in the AL East, now 9-games back of the Boston Red Sox. They lost yesterday and are 4-6 over their last 10 games. They also have a -3 run differential on the season. Meanwhile, Houston has been getting better, now opening up a 4.5-game lead in the AL West over the Oakland A's. The Yankees will start Nestor Cortes. Cortes is only making his 2nd start of the season. His first went just 3 1/3 innings and he allowed two hits and one run. Expect something similar here today as he likely won't go much past the third inning. The Astros will start Jake Odorizzi, who is 3-3 in his nine starts with a 4.10 ERA. He's been better of late, allowing just a 2.43 ERA and a 3-1 record over his last seven starts. I'll take the Astros at home over a Yankee team that is struggling. Play Houston. |
07-09-21 | Braves v. Marlins +121 | Top | 5-0 | Loss | -100 | 20 h 41 m | Show |
The Miami Marlins lost to the Dodgers on Thursday to finish out their series with LA, 1-6. Still, the Marlins took three of four from the Dodgers but are still in last place in the NL East with a 38-48 record. The Atlanta Braves had Thursday off as they open this series in Miami on Friday. The Braves are in 3rd in the East with a 42-44 record. Surprisingly, the Marlins though in last, have the best run differential in the division at +20! The Braves will start Charlie Morton who is 7-3 in his 17 starts. Marton has a 3.82 ERA and a 1.130 WHIP. The Marlins will counter with Zach Thomson who is 2-2 in five starts with a nice 2.63 ERA and even better 1.64 home ERA. Morton has been very good though his record doesn't reflect his hart work. I'm taking Miami as a home dog with a good pitcher on the mound. Play Miami. |
07-08-21 | Nationals +134 v. Padres | 8-9 | Loss | -100 | 4 h 9 m | Show
Washington has climbed to 2nd in the NL East with a 42-43 record, now just 4-games back of the Mets. Max Scherzer gets the start today with a 7-4 record in his 16 starts. He has a very nice 2.10 ERA and has been better of late, posting a 1.89 ERA over his last 7 starts. The Padres are just 5-5 over their last 10 games and have fallen into 3rd in the NL West, 4.5 games back of the Giants. Yu Darvish will to the rubber tonight. Darvish is 7-3 in his 17 starts with a 2.65 ERA. However, he's only 2-2 in his last seven starts with a 4.02 ERA. Scherzer is too good to pass on this dog price with him and the Nationals. Play Washington. |
07-07-21 | A's v. Astros -147 | 3-4 | Win | 100 | 8 h 35 m | Show
The Houston Astros look to extend their win streak to six games here tonight vs the A's. The Astros took over first place from the A's and have now opened up a 4.5-game lead in the AL West. The A's have lost two straight and seven of their last 10 games to drop to second in the division. Sean Manaea will start for the A's tonight. Manaea is 6-5 in his 17 starts with a 3.13 ERA. Luis Garcia will start for the Astros. Garcia is 6-4 in his 14 starts with a 3.1 ERA. He's been even better at home with a 2.52 ERA. Astros playing very well and while these pitchers are evenly matched, the teams are going in opposite directions right now. Play Houston. |
07-05-21 | Reds v. Royals -117 | 6-2 | Loss | -117 | 7 h 45 m | Show
Interleague action here today has the Kansas City Royals hosting the Cincinnati Reds. The Reds are in 2nd place in the NL Central, 7-games back of the Milwaukee Brewers. The Reds have won four straight games and six of their last 10. The Royals are in 4th place in the AL Central with a 35-48 record. They are 14-games back of the White Sox and are just 2-8 their last 10 games. Victor Gutierrez starts tonight for the Reds. Gutierrez is 3-3 in his seven starts with a 4.93 ERA. The Royals will turn to Mike Minor. Minor is 6-6 in his 17 starts with a 5.32 ERA and slightly worse 5.57 ERA at home. Minor has allowed 14 runs over his last 10 innings of work. Neither pitcher doing all that well as both are having mediocre seasons. I'll take the Royals at home today. Play Kansas City. |
07-04-21 | Cardinals v. Rockies -153 | Top | 2-3 | Win | 100 | 4 h 42 m | Show |
The Colorado Rockies definitely not having the kind of season they expected when this campaign started. The Rockies are 17-games back in the tough NL West division with only Arizona worse. They face the St Louis Cardinals today. The Cards are in 4th in the NL Central, 10-games back of the Brewers. The NL Central is being dominated by the Brewers, who are 8-games ahead of the next team (Reds). Carlos Martinez starts for the Redbirds today. Martinez is 4-9 in his 15 starts with a 6.15 ERA and and even worse 7.08 road ERA. German Marquez will start for the Rockies with his 7-6 record in 17 starts. Marquez has been very good of late, allowing just one run and four total hits over his last three starts (23 innings) for three straight wins. I like Marquez again here today. Play Colorado. |
07-04-21 | Astros -139 v. Indians | 4-3 | Win | 100 | 2 h 42 m | Show
The Houston Astros have won three straight games and opened up a 3.5-game lead in the AL West division over the Oakland A's. The Cleveland Indians are in 2nd in the AL Central, now six games back thanks to a 5-game losing streak and losing eight of their last 10 games. Zack Greinke starts today for the Astros. Greinke is 8-2 in his 17 starts with a 3.65 ERA and 2.06 road ERA. Cal Quantrill will start for the Tribe with his 0-1 record in six starts. Quantrill has a lofty 7.06 ERA and has allowed 10 runs over his last 7 2/3 innings of work. Astros continue their streak here today. Play Houston. |
07-04-21 | Padres v. Phillies +126 | 11-1 | Loss | -100 | 2 h 36 m | Show
The San Diego Padres have dropped back to 4.5-games behind the San Francisco Giants in the NL West. The Padres have lost three straight games. The Phillies have won two straight games and are four back of the NY Mets in the NL East. The Mets are the only team in the East with a winning record. The Padres will start Blake Snell who has a 5.29 ERA this season. Snell has been great at home, posting a 3-0 record in his seven starts with a 1.43 ERA. However, on the road that number is 0-3 with a 10.36 ERA. The Phillies will start Vincent Velasquez who is 3-2 in his 12 starts with a 3.99 ERA. Valasquez is coming off a very nice start, allowing no runs and just two hits over seven innings vs the Marlins. Have to take the Phils here today as Snell has been horrible on the road for the Padres. Take Philadelphia. |

07-03-21 | White Sox -117 v. Tigers | 5-11 | Loss | -117 | 5 h 26 m | Show
The Chicago White Sox have opened up a 6-game lead in the AL Central over the Cleveland Indians. This is thanks to a 5-game winning streak by the Sox. The Detroit Tigers are 3rd in the conference, 13.5-games back of the White Sox. The Sox will start Dallas Keuchel today. Keuchel is 6-2 in his 15 starts this season with a 3.87 ERA. He's allowed more than three earned runs just one time in his last seven starts. The Tigers will send Tarik Skubal to the hill today. Skubal is 4-6 in his 14 starts with a 4.13 ERA and slightly better 3.20 ERA at home. Skubal has not allowed more than three earned runs in any of his last seven starts. Both pitchers are good, but the Sox hold all the other edges. I'll stick with the team on a hot win streak. Play Chicago. |
07-02-21 | Rays v. Blue Jays -118 | Top | 1-11 | Win | 100 | 7 h 21 m | Show |
The Tampa Bay Rays and Toronto Blue Jays both fading away in the AL East as the Boston Red Sox have won seven straight games. The Sox now lead the Rays by 3.5 games and the Jays by 8.5 games. Both Tampa and Toronto come into this series starting tonight on losing streaks with the Rays losing three straight and the Jays two. Tampa will start Luis Patino tonight, making just his fourth start of the year and first since May 18th. Patino was 0-1 in those three starts with a 4.50 ERA and 10.81 ERA in his one away start. Toronto starts Alek Monoah who is 1-0 in his six starts with a 3.34 ERA and home 3.86 ERA. He's coming off a nice start on June 25th where he allowed Baltimore just four hits over six innings with no earned runs. Two young starters here tonight, both trying to get their teams back to winning. I'll take the home club tonight. Play Toronto. |
07-01-21 | Giants -136 v. Diamondbacks | 3-5 | Loss | -136 | 10 h 23 m | Show
The San Francisco Giants saw their lead over the Dodgers in the NL West cut to just 1.5-games after losing all three games in LA. Now they turn to the worst team maybe in all of baseball, the Arizona Diamondbacks. Arizona is just 22-60 on the season and 29.5-games back of the Giants. They have also lost four straight and eight of their last 10 games. The Giants start Johnny Cueto tonight, who is 6-3 on the season with a 3.63 ERA. He's been slightly better at home with a 5-2 record and 2.81 ERA. Merrill Kelly will to the rubber for the D'backs. Kelly is 4-7 on the season with a 4.73 ERA and slightly worse 5.73 road ERA. This one can be billed as the Penthouse vs the Outhouse and for me, I prefer the Penthouse. Play San Francisco. |
06-30-21 | Angels +118 v. Yankees | 11-8 | Win | 118 | 8 h 40 m | Show
The LA Angels take on the NY Yankees tonight and will start Shohei Ohtani. Ohtani not only has a nice 3-1 record with a 2.58 ERA, but he's hitting .278 on the season with 28 home runs. Ohtani makes a double threat for the Angels, something not really seen on this level since Babe Ruth. Ohtani homered twice in the house that Ruth built on Tuesday, making three round trippers at Yankee stadium over the last two days. Domingo German will try to stop the Angels today with a 4-5 record and 4.32 ERA. For me, getting the Angels as a small dog here with Ohtani on the hill and in the batter's box is good enough. Play the LA Angels. |
06-29-21 | Giants +137 v. Dodgers | 1-3 | Loss | -100 | 8 h 10 m | Show
The Dodgers drew a game closer to the division leading Giants with a win over San Francisco last night, 3-2. The Giants now lead the Dodgers by 2.5 games in the NL West. The Giants will start Kevin Gausman tonight. Gausman is 8-1 in his 15 starts with a 1.49 ERA and 0.755 WHIP. Gausman has been even better on the road with a 5-1 record and 1.02 ERA. The Dodgers start Walker Beuhler tonight. Buehler is 7-1 on his 15 starts with a 2.51 ERA. Both these pitchers are outstanding and this should be a great matchup. Giants are a nice sized dog and they should be in this game until the end. I'll take the live dog with the Giants. Play San Francisco. |
06-29-21 | Padres v. Reds +131 | 5-4 | Loss | -100 | 6 h 1 m | Show
The Cincinnati Reds are in third place in the NL Central, 6-games back of the Milwuakee Brewers. They take on the 3rd place NL West San Diego Padres tonight. The Padres were in first for a while, but have now dropped four games back of the Giants. The Padres start Blake Snell tonight. Snell is just 3-3 on the season with a 5.29 ERA. Snell has been great at home where he is 3-0 with a 1.43 ERA. However, on the road he's just 0-3 with a 10.36 ERA in his eight starts. The Reds will counter with Tony Santillan. Santillan is 1-1 in his three starts with a 3.29 ERA. Getting the Reds as a home dog here against a poor road pitcher in Snell is too much to pass on. Play Cincinnati. |
06-29-21 | Marlins -109 v. Phillies | 3-4 | Loss | -109 | 7 h 42 m | Show
Miami Marlins are a bit of an enigma. They are in last place in the NL East, 8.5-games back of the NY Mets. Yet, they have the best run differential in the division at +17 runs. They will face a Philly team that is in 4th place in the division, 5-games back of the Mets. The Phillies will start Vincent Velasquez today who is 2-2 in his 11 starts with a 4.53 ERA. The Marlins start Trevor Rogers today. Rogers is 7-4 in his 15 starts with a 2.18 ERA and 2.01 road ERA. Marlins have some decent pitching, evidenced by their plus run differential. I'll take them here today. Play Miami. |
06-28-21 | Giants +162 v. Dodgers | 2-3 | Loss | -100 | 12 h 1 m | Show
The San Francisco Giants have opened up a 3.5-game lead over the LA Dodgers in the NL West as these two hated rivals open a pivotal series here tonight at Chavez Ravine. The Giants start Anthony Desclafani who is 8-2 in his 15 starts with a 2.77 ERA. He's been very good on the road with a 4-1 record and 1.84 ERA. Trevor Bauer will start for the Dodgers with a 7-5 record in his 16 starts and a 2.57 ERA. Dodgers are a very big favorite here tonight. With Desclafani on the hill I see a lot of value with this dog. Play San Francisco. |
06-24-21 | Nationals -110 v. Marlins | 7-3 | Win | 100 | 7 h 27 m | Show
The Washington Nationals move up the NL East division continues as they not only have won four straight games, but nine of their last 10. They now are just 4-games back of division leading NY Mets. The Miami Marlins are last in the division with a 31-42 record and have lost three straight and seven of their last 10 games. The Nats will start Joe Ross today. Ross is only 3-7 on the season with a 4.54 ERA. He's a bit better on the road with a 2-4 record and 3.76 ERA. Ross saw his 14 inning scoreless streak come to an end last game as he lost at the Mets allowing five runs over five innings. Cody Poteet toes the rubber for the Marlins. Poteet is 2-2 in his six starts with a 3.90 ERA. For me, this game is about momentum. The Nationals have it and the Marlins don't. Play Washington. |
06-23-21 | A's -135 v. Rangers | 3-5 | Loss | -135 | 8 h 17 m | Show
The Oakland A's have dropped out of first place in the AL West, now trailing the Houston Astros by one game. The Astros have been red hot, winning 9 straight games. The A's have won seven of their last 10, but it wasn't enough to see them drop from the top spot. The A's look to get back to top dog with their game tonight at Texas. The Rangers are 2-8 over their last 10 games and are 19-games back of the Astros in the West. The A's will start James Kaprielian who is 4-1 on the season with a nice 2.84 ERA. Mike Foltynewicz starts for the Rangers. Foltynewicz is 1-7 in his 14 starts with a 5.59 ERA. Rangers slumping too much to play on them with a poor starter. I'll take Oakland here on Wednesday. |
06-23-21 | Nationals -103 v. Phillies | 13-12 | Win | 100 | 1 h 17 m | Show
The Washington Nationals look to continue their surge as they go for their fourth straight win here today. The Nats have also won eight of their last 10 games. They are now just four games back of division leading NY Mets, as they are tie with Both Atlanta and Philly for 2nd place. The Philadelphia Phillies have lost two straight and now trail the Mets by four games. They are also in a dogfight with the Braves and Nationals, all three tied for 2nd place. The Nats will start Erick Fedde who is 4-4 on the season with a 3.33 ERA. Fedde has been excellent of late, allowing no runs over his last three starts (19 innings). The Phils will start Vincent Velasquez who is 2-2 on the season with a 4.18 ERA. I really like the way Fedde is pitching and the Nationals are hot. Play Washington. |
06-22-21 | Rockies v. Mariners -150 | 1-2 | Win | 100 | 11 h 27 m | Show
The Colorado Rockies travel to the Northwest tonight to take on the Seattle Mariners. The Rockies are in 4th place in the NL West, 16.5-games behind division leading San Francisco. The Rockies look to snap a two-game losing streak here tonight. They will do this with Kyle Freeland on the hill. Freeland is 0-2 in his five starts with a lofty 9.58 ERA and slightly better 9.00 ERA on the road. The Mariners are in 3rd place in the AL West, 7-games back of the Astros. The M's have won four straight. Chris Flexen will start tonight with a 6-3 record and 4.12 ERA. He's been better at home with a 4-2 record and 2.16 ERA. I'll take the M's at home tonight. Play Seattle. |
06-22-21 | Blue Jays v. Marlins -119 | 2-1 | Loss | -119 | 6 h 23 m | Show
The Miami Marlins are in last in the NL East, 8-games back of the first place Mets. The Marlins are coming off a loss to the Cubs, 0-2. However, they did take the series from Chicgao, two games to one, scoring 21 runs in their two wins. The Toronto Blue Jays have won two straight games, yet they are still 7-games back in the AL East. They will send Ross Stripling to the hill today. Stripling is 2-4 in his 10 starts with a 4.32 ERA. Sandy Alcantara will toe the rubber for the fish. Alacantara is 4-6 in his 15 starts with a very respectable 2.99 ERA and 2.38 home ERA. I'm going to take the Marlins here with a solid Alcantara on the hill. Play Miami. |
06-21-21 | Reds -111 v. Twins | Top | 5-7 | Loss | -111 | 20 h 55 m | Show |
The Cincinnati Reds hope that this new IL series starting today in Minnesota will break their 4-game losing streak. The Reds are now four games back of the Cubs and Brewers who are tied for 1st in the NL Central. The Reds were swept by the Padres in their four game series, including Sunday's loss 2-3. Meanwhile, the Twins have won four straight games, but still are 12.5-games back of the White Sox in the AL Central. The Reds start Tyler Mahle today. Mahle is 7-2 in his 14 starts with a nice 3.27 ERA. He's been even better on the road with a 5-1 record and 1.45 ERA. J.A. Happ starts for the Twins. Happ is 3-3 in his 12 starts with a lofty 6.12 ERA. Happ has allowed at least four runs in six of his last seven starts. I look for the Reds behind Mahle to get back in the win column today. Play Cincinnati. |
06-20-21 | White Sox v. Astros -144 | 2-8 | Win | 100 | 2 h 18 m | Show
The Houston Astros have climbed their way back into the AL West race with the Oakland A's. The Astros gained a game and are now just one-game back of Oakland thanks to a six-game winning streak by Houston. The Astros have the best run differential in baseball with a +106 number. Today they face the AL Central leading Chicago White Sox. The Sox hold a 3.5 game lead over the Cleveland Indians. The Sox start Dallas Keuchel today. Keuchel is 6-1 in his 14 starts with a 3.66 ERA. Houston counters with Lance McCullers who is 3-1 in his 10 starts with a 2.89 ERA. Both pitchers are good but I'm sticking with the red-hot Astros in this one. Play Houston. |
06-19-21 | Phillies v. Giants -108 | 13-6 | Loss | -108 | 3 h 30 m | Show
The San Francisco Giants ran their win streak to five games and have won seven of their last 10 games. They still have a 2.5-game lead in the NL West over the Dodgers and the Padres have fallen six games back. The Phillies are in 2nd place in the NL East, 4.5-games back of the division leading Mets. The Phillies will start Aaron Nola here today. Nola has a 5-4 record and 3.69 ERA this season. He's a bit worse on the road with a 4.99 ERA. Alex Wood starts for the Giants. Wood is 6-3 with a 3.71 ERA. I'm sticking with the hot Giants and Wood here today. Play San Francisco. |
06-17-21 | White Sox v. Astros -120 | 2-10 | Win | 100 | 8 h 29 m | Show

The Sox also have the best run differential in MLB with +107. The Houston Astros are in 2nd place in the NL West, 2.5-games back of the Oakland A's. The Astros have won three straight games and seven of their last 10 games. The Sox start Dylan Cease who is 5-2 on the season with a 3.37 ERA and a little worse 5.79 ERA on the road. The Astros start Jose Urquidy, who is 4-3 in his 11 starts with a 3.77 ERA and slightly better 2.83 ERA at home. Two excellent starters here and I'll be on the home team. Play Houston. |
06-16-21 | Orioles v. Indians -159 | 7-8 | Win | 100 | 8 h 36 m | Show
The Baltimore Orioles are in last place in the AL East with a 22-44 record. They are 20-games back of first place Tampa Bay. The O's have lost six straight and seven of their last 10 games. The Indians are in 2nd place in the AL Central, 4.5-games back of the White Sox. The Indians have won two straight games. The O's start Keegan Akin today who is 0-1 in his three starts with a 2.63 ERA. The Indians send Aaron Civale to the hill. Civale is 9-2 in his 13 starts with a 3.17 ERA. Both starters have been very good, but Akin plays for a terrible Baltimore team while Civale has the benefit of playing on a good Indians club. Play Cleveland. |
06-16-21 | Angels v. A's -116 | 4-8 | Win | 100 | 4 h 3 m | Show

A's with the home advantage and edge in pitching. Play Oakland. |

The Mets have the best run differential in the division with a +20. The Chicago Cubs are tied for first place in the NL Central with the Milwaukee Brewers. The Cubs have the best run differential in the division with a +40. The Cubs start Alec Mills today. Mills started one game this year at Milwaukee and went four innings allowing two runs. The Mets will start Taijuan Walker who is 5-2 on the season and has a very nice 2.07 ERA and even better 1.23 ERA at home. Walker has allowed one or no runs in five of his last six starts. I like the Mets with Walker here tonight. Play NY Mets. |
06-14-21 | Pirates v. Nationals -120 | 2-3 | Win | 100 | 3 h 13 m | Show
The Pittsburgh Pirates have lost seven straight games and that has them in last place in the NL Central, 14.5-games back of 1st place. The Washington Nationals having a disappointing season as they sit in last in the AL East, though they are just seven games back of 1st place NY Mets. The Pirates start J.T. Brubaker today. Brubaker is 4-5 in his 11 starts with a 3.90 ERA and slightly worse 4.91 road ERA. Washington starts veteran Jon Lester today. Lester is 0-2 in his eight starts with a 4.19 ERA. He's pitched well of late though with just three total runs allowed over his last three starts (13 2/3 innings). I'll take the Nationals against this reeling Pirates team. Play Washington. |
06-13-21 | Cardinals v. Cubs -124 | 0-2 | Win | 100 | 7 h 5 m | Show
The Chicago Cubs are tied for first in the AL Central with the Milwaukee Bucks, both with 37-27 records. The Cubs have won four straight games. The Cardinals have dropped to five-games back of first place thanks to a 2-8 record over their last 10 games. The Cardinals will start Carlos Martinez today. Martinez is 3-6 in his 11 starts with a 6.21 ERA. He's been even worse on the road with a 1-4 record and 7.04 ERA. Martinez has allowed 15 runs over his last 4 2/3 innings of work. The Cubs will start Zach Davies today. Davies is 3-3 in his last 13 starts with a 4.45 ERA and a slightly better 3.52 ERA at home. Davies has allowed one or no runs in three of his last four starts. Cubs should have little trouble in this one day against a slumping red bird team with a poor starter on the hill. Play Chicago. |
06-12-21 | Astros -106 v. Twins | 2-5 | Loss | -106 | 8 h 59 m | Show

The Twins have struggled all year, going just 25-38 on the season and now 14-games back of the White Sox. The Twins have lost seven of their last 10 games. Houston starts Luis Garcia today. Garcia is 5-2 with a nifty 2.72 ERA on the season. He's allowed two runs or fewer in each of his last five starts. The Twins send Jose Berrios to the hill. Berrios is 6-2 for the Twins in 12 starts with a 3.58 ERA. He hasn't been as good at home with a 4.71 ERA. Astros have been hot and they have a hot starter on the hill. Play Houston. |
06-12-21 | Blue Jays v. Red Sox -115 | 7-2 | Loss | -115 | 5 h 54 m | Show
Blue Jays have dropped to 4th in the AL East after losing six of their last 10 games. The Red Sox have climbed to within 1-game of the AL East lead as they have won two straight and seven of their last 10 games. The Jays start Steven Matz today. Matz is 6-3 in his 12 starts with a 4.50 ERA. Nick Pivetta will start for the Sox with a 6-1 record in his 12 starts and a 3.78 ERA. Both pitchers doing well, but I'll stick with the hotter team here in the Red Sox. |
06-12-21 | Royals v. A's -155 | 2-11 | Win | 100 | 5 h 51 m | Show
The Oakland A's have a slim lead in the AL West division, just 1-game over the Houston Astros. Looks to be a two-game race between the A's and Astros with the Angels now six games back. The A's have won seven of their last 10 games. Kansas City is in third place in the AL Central with a 30-32 record. They have lost six of their last 10 games. The Royals will start Jackson Kowar for just the second time this season. He went only 2/3 of an inning in his first start at the Angels, allowing three hits and four runs in his quick exit. James Kapreilian will toe the rubber for the A's. Kapreilian is 2-1 in his five starts with a 3.08 ERA. Kapreilian has allowed over two runs in just one of his five starts. Take the A's. |
06-12-21 | Giants -144 v. Nationals | 0-2 | Loss | -144 | 3 h 48 m | Show

The Nationals are in last place in the NL East, 8-games back of the division leading Mets. The Nats are 4-6 in their last 10 games. The Giants will start Kevin Gausman. Gausman is a perfect 7-0 in his 12 starts with a nifty 1.27 ERA. He's been even better on the road with a 0l71 ERA in his eight away games. The Nats will start Erick Fedde who is 3-4 in his eight starts with a 4.35 ERA. He's been worse at home with a 7.56 ERA in his four starts. Gausman and the the Giants just too good to pass on right now. Play San Francisco. |
06-11-21 | Royals v. A's -128 | 3-4 | Win | 100 | 9 h 7 m | Show
The Oakland A's holding onto their slim lead in the AL West with a 1-game advantage of second place Houston. The A's look to extend that lead here tonight at home against the Kansas City Royals. The Royals are in their place in the AL Central, 7.5-games back of the White Sox. The Royals will start Brady Singer tonight. Singer is 3-5 in his 12 starts with a 4.88 ERA and 5.91 road ERA. Singer has allowed 12 runs over his last three starts (14 innings). Cole Irvin will toe the rubber for the A's. Irvin is 4-7 in his 12 starts with a 3.89 ERA. Irvine is coming off a nice start at Colorado where he allowed just one run over six innings for the Win. I'll take the A's here tonight at home with the slightly better starter on the hill. Play Oakland. |
06-11-21 | Angels -134 v. Diamondbacks | 6-5 | Win | 100 | 9 h 7 m | Show
Interleague action here on Friday has the LA Angels vising the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Angels are in fourth in the AL West, 6-games back of division leading Oakland. The Angels have played much better of late, winning three straight and seven of their last 10 games. The Arizona Diamondbacks are done for this year, they play in the very competitive NL West where they are in last place, 19-games back. They have lost seven straight games and eight of their last 10 games. The Angels start Shohei Ohtani, who is 2-1 in his eight starts. Ohtani has a 2.76 ERA and has allowed more than two runs just once in his last five starts. Merrill Kelly starts for the D'backs. Kelly is 2-6 in his 12 starts with a 5.12 ERA. Kelly has allowed nine earned runs over his last 12 2/3 innings. Hard to be on the D'backs side as bad as they have played. Take the LA Angels. |
06-09-21 | Royals +135 v. Angels | 1-6 | Loss | -100 | 11 h 52 m | Show
The Kansas City Royals have dropped four straight games after Tuesday night's 1-8 loss to the Angels. The Royals are still in 3rd place in the AL Central, but have dropped back to 7.5-games back of the White Sox. The Angels have won two straight and seven of their last 10 games. They still sit in fourth in the AL West, 6.5-games back of the A's. Brad Keller will start today for the Royals. Keller is 6-4 in his 12 starts with a 5.50 ERA. However, Keller has been much better of late, allowing three earned runs or fewer in each of his last eight starts. Griffin Canning will start for the Halos. Canning is 3-4 in his nine starts with a 5.71 ERA. He's been a bit worse at home, posting a 6.35 ERA. We get a small dog price here today with the Royals who I believe have the better starter going. That makes this a live dog. Play Kansas City. |
06-09-21 | Blue Jays v. White Sox -151 | Top | 6-2 | Loss | -151 | 9 h 24 m | Show |
The White Sox won their 2nd game in a row and seventh of their last 10 games with the win over the Jays on Tuesday, 6-1. They still hold a somewhat comfortable 4-game lead in the AL Central. The Jays have now lost two straight and have fallen back to 7-games behind AL East leading Tampa Bay. The Blue Jays will start Alek Manoah today. Manoah is 1-0 in his two starts and has a 3.86 ERA. After an initial start where he allowed just two hits and no runs to the Yankees he got bounced out early by the Marlins after 3 1/3 innings by allowing four hits and four run including three home runs. Lance Lynn toes the rubber for the Sox. Lynn having a excellent season with a 7-1 record after 10 starts and a 1.38 ERA with 0.937 WHIP. Lynn has not allowed more than two runs in any of his last six starts. Not a bad price here today with a excellent team and excellent starter. Play Chicago. |
06-09-21 | Mets -125 v. Orioles | 14-1 | Win | 100 | 8 h 20 m | Show
The Mets took the short end of a 3-10 loss on Tuesday night at Baltimore. The loss dropped the Mets to 28-24 as they still sit atop the NL East, 2.5 games ahead of the Braves. The are out of the race in the A.L, now 16-games back in the East. However, they have still won two straight after Tuesday evening. The Mets look to send Taijuan Walker to the hill today. Walker is 4-2 in his 10 starts with a 2.17 ERA and 1.056 WHIP. Walker coming off one of his worst starts of the season, allowing seven hits and three earned runs in a 3-4 loss at San Diego. Matt Harvey will toe the rubber for the O's. Harvey is 3-6 in his 12 starts with a lofty 6.62 ERA. Harvey had one of his best starts last time out, but only went three innings. He allowed just two hits and one run to the Twins. I don't see the Mets losing two straight to the Orioles, especially against their one time starter in Harvey. Play New York. |
