08-31-22 | Dodgers +149 v. Mets | Top | 1-2 | Loss | -100 | 9 h 45 m | Show |
A battle of the top National League teams as the Dodgers and Mets play game two of their series. The Dodgers won game one on Tuesday in a nail-biter, 4-3. Today we get a great pitching matchup as 12-2 Tyler Anderson of the Dodgers will face 3-1 Jacob deGrom of the Mets. The Dodgers won three straight games and Anderson has a 2.71 ERA and a 2.08 ERA in his last seven starts. deGrom has a 2.15 ERA and a 1.53 ERA at home. deGrom has just five starts but has been very good since his return. Dodgers a farily big dog here and how often this year will we get them at this price? Probably not again. I'll take the value with the dog Dodgers here today. |

08-30-22 | Phillies v. Diamondbacks +124 | Top | 3-12 | Win | 124 | 10 h 0 m | Show |
The Phillies look to snap a 2-game losing streak here tonight as they game two of this series in Arizona tonight. The Phillies still hold onto the 2nd NL Wild Card slot right now, 1.5-games ahead of the Padres and 3-games ahead of the Brewers. The Phils will start Aaron Nola tonight who is 9-10 in his 25 starts with a 3.08 ERA. Arizona just came off a three-game sweep of the White Sox and then took game one of this series with the Phillies last night, 13-7, despite trailing 1-7 in the early innings. Zach Gallen has been excellent for the D'backs with a 9-2 record in his 24 starts and a 2.73 ERA. He's been on fire of late, going 5-0 in his last seven starts with a 0.80 ERA. I get Gallen as a dog here tonight, that's too much to pass on for me. Take Arizona. |
08-30-22 | Royals +115 v. White Sox | 9-7 | Win | 115 | 9 h 31 m | Show
The Chicago White Sox are watching their postseason aspirations slide away. They now trail in the AL Wild Card by 6.5 games and they trail in the AL Central by 5-games. It doesn't help that the Sox are coming off a three-games sweep at the hands of Arizona. They will start Lucas Giolito tonight with a 10-7 record and 5.14 ERA. He's ERA has gone up of late with a 6.29 ERA in his last seven starts. The Royals are coming off a win against the Padres on Monday, 15-7. They will send their best pitcher to the hill tonight in Brady Singer. Singer is 7-4 in his 18 starts with a 3.07 ERA. He's been better of late with a 3-1 record in his last seven starts and a 1.79 ERA. I'm taking the Royals as a live dog here tonight. |
08-28-22 | Braves v. Cardinals -122 | 3-6 | Win | 100 | 8 h 46 m | Show
The Atlanta Braves continue to try and win the NL East, as they trail 1st place NY Mets by 3-games. However, the Braves have a strangle hold on the top Wild Card spot in the NL, leading by nine-games. As for the Cardinals, they have used the last 30 days to leap frog over the Brewers in the NL Central and now lead Milwaukee by 6-games. The Braves will start Jake Odorizzi today, who is 5-5 in his 16 starts with a 3.95 ERA. That number goes up slightly over his last seven starts with a 1-3 record and 4.62 ERA. The Cardinals will start Adam Wainwright today. Wainwright is 9-9 in his 25 starts with a 3.11 ERA. Wainwright's allowed just three total runs over his last three starts (22 innings). I'll take the Cardinals and Wainwright here today. |
08-27-22 | Braves v. Cardinals +110 | 5-6 | Win | 110 | 9 h 19 m | Show
The Atlanta Braves trail the NY Mets in the NL East by just 2-games. However, they have a strangle hold on the top NL Wild Card slot with a 10-game lead. The Braves have won four straight games after Friday's win over the Cardinals, 11-4. That makes 25 runs scored over their last two games. Charlie Morton will start today for the Braves with a 6-5 record in his 24 starts and a 3.99 ERA. He's been a bit worse on the road with a 2-4 record in 11 starts and a 5.08 ERA. The Cardinals are cruising in the NL Central, with a 6-game lead over the Brewers. They will start Jordan Montgomery today with a 7-3 record in his 25 starts and a 3.08 ERA. Montgomery has been great of late with just one total run allowed over his last four starts (25 2/3 innings). I'll take the Cardinals to even this series here today. |
08-27-22 | Rays -120 v. Red Sox | 1-5 | Loss | -120 | 6 h 14 m | Show
Tampa Bay continues to hold onto that Wild Card top spot in the American League, a 1/2 game ahead of both Toronto and Seattle with Baltimore 2.5 games back. Tampa Bay saw its six-game win streak snapped on Friday by Boston, 8-9. The Rays look to get back in the win column today with Jeffrey Springs on the hill. Springs is 5-3 in his 17 starts with a 2.76 ERA. Springs has allowed just two runs in his last two starts (10 2/3 innings) and three runs over his last four starts (21 2/3 innings). The Sox snapped their four-game losing streak on Friday with their win. Rich Hill will start today with a 5-5 record in his 18 starts and a 4.79 ERA. He has not done well at home, going 1-3 in seven starts with a 7.12 ERA. I'll take Tampa Bay to bounce back today. |
08-24-22 | White Sox v. Orioles +108 | 5-3 | Loss | -100 | 6 h 27 m | Show
The Orioles need to keep winning if they hope to have a shot at one of the three AL Wild Card plays. Right now they are 4th in the race, 2.5 games back of both Toronto and Seattle. Minnesota is right behind them at 4 games back. The Orioles took game one of this three game set on Tuesday night, 5-3. The Sox will start Lucas Giolito today with a 9-7 mark in his 22 starts and a 5.34 ERA. He's been worse of late, posting a 6.03 ERA in his last seven starts. He has also allowed 11 runs over his last 10 innings. The O's turn to Spenser Watkins today. Watkins is 4-3 in his 16 starts with a 3.84 ERA. He's been good of late, with a 3-2 record and 2.70 ERA in his last seven starts. O's a small dog here and for me they should be favored. Play Baltimore. |
08-22-22 | Mets -150 v. Yankees | 2-4 | Loss | -150 | 7 h 19 m | Show
Subway series renews here tonight as the battle for the Big Apple between the Mets and Yankees play game one of this series. The Mets coming off a series with the Phillies where they took three of four games. Max Scherzer starts today and even though he has nine wins, that's fourth on this team in wins. Scherzer also has a 2.15 ERA and other than his last start where he gave up four runs to the Braves, he's allowed two runs or fewer in the previous 10 games. The Yankees have hit a bit of a skid of late. They did win on Sunday vs the Blue Jays, 4-2. However, that was the only game of their four-game set with Toronto they won. Moreover, they have now lost six of their last eight games. Domingo German will start tonight with a 1-2 record in his six starts and a 4.45 ERA. I'm taking the Mets here tonight as Scherzer is way better than German has been. Play the Mets. |
08-21-22 | Marlins +154 v. Dodgers | 3-10 | Loss | -100 | 6 h 50 m | Show
The Marlins have a tough task, beating the best team in baseball on their home field. That's the case today as Miami has to play at the LA Dodgers. Miami has lost the first two games in this series, getting outscored 1-9. The good news is that they have their ACE Sand Alcantara on the hill. Alcantara is a legitimate NL Cy Young candidate as he has a 11-5 record in 24 starts and a measy 1.92 ERA. The Dodgers have just about everything to make a big run at another World Series Title. However, today's starter is a bit of a question mark. Ryan Pepiot makes his seventh start of the season with a 4.26 ERA. He's made it into the fifth inning just once in those six previous starts. I can't pass up on Alcantara as a big road dog here today. Take Miami. |
08-21-22 | Brewers v. Cubs +139 | 5-2 | Loss | -100 | 4 h 60 m | Show
The Milwaukee Brewers have dropped the first two games of this series with the Cubs. If they want to keep pace with the Cardinals in the NL Central then they can't let these games slip by. The Brewers now trail St Louis by 4-games in the division. Brandon Woodruff will start today for the Brewers with a 9-3 record in his 18 starts and a 3.53 ERA. The Cubs have won five straight games as they look for the sweep here today. Justin Steele will start for the Cubs with a 4-7 record and 3.43 ERA. However, he's been very good his last seven starts, posting a 1.66 ERA. Cubs a very live dog here today and that's all I need to be on them Play Chicago Cubs. |
08-20-22 | Mets -115 v. Phillies | 1-4 | Loss | -115 | 8 h 18 m | Show
Game 2 of the doubleheader here on Saturday has the Mets taking on the Phillies. The Phils hold the second Wild Card spot in the NL. Atlanta either wins their division or has the top Wild Card spot as they Braves are 7.5 games ahead of second place Philly. However, it's a three way race for those final two Wild Card spots between the Phils, Padres and Brewers. The Mets beat the Phillies on Friday, 7-2. David Peterson starts game two for the Mets with a 5-2 record in his 14 starts and a 3.17 ERA. he's been better the last seven games with a 3-1 record and 2.39 ERA. Bailey Falter makes his eighth start of the season here this evening for the Phillies. Falter is 0-2 with a 4.83 ERA. I'm sticking with the Mets here today and the better starter in Peterson. Play NY. |
08-20-22 | Angels -158 v. Tigers | Top | 3-4 | Loss | -158 | 3 h 43 m | Show |
The Angels took game one of this series with the Tigers on Friday, 1-0. Neither team will be going to the postseason, and it's a extreme longshot for either team to get break the .500 mark. Ried Detmers will start today for the Angels with a 4-3 record in his 18 games with a 3.45 ERA. Detmers has been even better of late, going 2-0 in his last seven starts with a 2.41 ERA. Detmers has allowed two runs or fewer in each of his last six starts. The Tigers look to snap a two-game losing streak here tonight. The bullpen hasn't been much use of late, posting a 7.32 ERA in their last seven games. Tyler Alexander looks for his first win of the season here today after posting a 0-7 mark in his first eight games. Alexander has a 5.67 ERA. I'll stick with the Angels here today as not much confidence can be put in the Tigers and Alexander. |
08-17-22 | Orioles +155 v. Blue Jays | 1-6 | Loss | -100 | 4 h 19 m | Show
The ever changing Wild Card picture in the American league now sees Seattle Mariners holding the top spot with Tampa Bay in 2nd, the Jays holding the third and final spot and the Orioles a half game back in 4th. The Twins and White Sox box one-game back of the group. The Baltimore Orioles have won two straight games and look for the sweep in this important series with the Jays. Austin Voth toes the rubber today for the O's with a 3-1 record in his nine starts and a 3.22 ERA. He's been even better on the road with a 1-1 record in four starts and a 2.20 ERA. Toronto will start Ross Stripling tonight. Stripling returns from the IR after missing the last three weeks. Stripling is 4-3 in his 15 starts with a 3.01 ERA. Not sure how well Stripling will be here today, so I'll take the O's who have been playing very well. Play Baltimore. |
08-16-22 | A's +106 v. Rangers | Top | 5-1 | Win | 106 | 10 h 21 m | Show |
The Oakland A's look to snap a 9-game losing streak here tonight in Texas. The A's dropped Monday's contest in game one of this set with the Rangers, 1-2. They will turn to JP Sears to get things back in the win column. Sears has only three starts, but they have been very good starts. He's 2-0 with a 1.13 ERA and 0.750 WHIP. Sears has allowed no runs in two of his three outings this season. The Rangers have won three straight games including taking two of three from the Mariners. The Rangeers' will debut Kohei Arihara today as he makes his 2022 debut. Arihara was called up from Triple-A Round Rock where he had a 4.18 ERA in 18 games (14 starts). Sears has impressed me thus far and I'm not sure Arihara will do the same for the Rangers. I'll take the A's tonight. |
08-12-22 | Mariners -154 v. Rangers | 6-2 | Win | 100 | 10 h 58 m | Show
The Seattle Mariners continue to make their run at one of the three Wild Card games in the A.L. as they have won two straight games over the Yankees. The M's are now in the 2nd spot for a Wild Card and just a half game back of the Jays for a 3-game set that gives them home field. Gone are the one and done Wild Card formats, now it's best of three so home field could be huge. Seattle starts George Kirby today who is 3-3 with a 3.40 ERA in his 15 starts. Kirby has been excellent of late, allowing two runs or fewer in each of his last five starts. The Rangers won't be going anywhere but home this postseason. They have lost three of their last four games.Texas will go with a bullpen starter tonight in Josh Sborz. I doubt anything will help as the Mariners have owned the Rangers. Sborz is 0-0 with a 5.87 ERA in the pen this year. I'll take Seattle here on Friday. |
08-12-22 | Orioles +135 v. Rays | 10-3 | Win | 135 | 9 h 4 m | Show
The Baltimore Orioles are in the playoff hunt! That's right, the O's are in 4th place right now for three Wild Card slots in the AL. However, they are just a half game back of that third spot behind Tampa Bay. That makes this series with the Rays huge for that Wild Card positioning. Austin Voth will start for the O's today with a 2-1 record in his eight starts and a 3.19 ERA. He's been good in his three road starts, with a 1.64 ERA. The Rays will start Corey Kluber today with a 7-6 record and 4.05 ERA. Very nice dog price here today with the Orioles and for me that's too much to pass on. Play Baltimore. |
08-11-22 | Orioles +112 v. Red Sox | 3-4 | Loss | -100 | 8 h 40 m | Show
The Baltimore Orioles had yesterday's game postponed to prepare for tonight's contest at Boston. The Orioles have been hot, winning two straight and seven of their last eight games. With three AL Wild Card berths this year the O's are tie for that third spot right now with Tampa Bay and just 2-games out of the top spot. Dean Kremer will start tonight for the O's with a 4-3 record in his 11 starts with a 3.43 ERA. Kremer coming off a excellent start where he went 6 1/3 innings and allowed just four hits and no runs to the Pirates. The Red Sox look to be going the wrong way in the AL East, losing four straight and six of their last seven games. Josh Winckowski starts today with a 5-5 record in his 10 starts and a 4.68 ERA. He's been worse at home with a 3-3 record in his six starts and a 6.18 ERA. I'm sticking with the hot Orioles tonight as a small, live dog. Play Baltimore. |
08-09-22 | Yankees v. Mariners +122 | Top | 0-1 | Win | 122 | 11 h 27 m | Show |
The Yankees snapped their 5-game losing streak with their win over the Mariners on Monday, 9-4. Yankees have little doubt of winning the AL East, but are happy to get back in the win column. Gerrit Cole makes the start today with a 9-4 record in his 22 starts and a 3.56 ERA. He's been slightly worse lately with a 3-2 record in his last seven starts and a 4.70 ERA. The Mariners have their eyes set on a AL Wildcard spot and they went out and picked up today's starter, Luis Castillo, just to achieve that. Castillo makes his second start for the M's and gets a rematch with the Yankees and Cole for his second start. Castillo beat the Yankees last week, going 6 2/3 innings and allowing three runs. I like the M's to bounce back here tonight with their newest pitcher on the hill. Play Seattle. |
08-08-22 | Yankees v. Mariners -102 | Top | 9-4 | Loss | -102 | 11 h 12 m | Show |
The Yankees hope a new series here on Monday will break their current 5-game losing streak. The Yankees were swept by the red-hot Cardinals in their three game series and lost two of three in the previous series to the Mariners. Jameson Taillon will start for the Yankees today. Taillon is having a fine season at 10-2 with a 3.96 ERA. However, he has struggled a bit lately with a 2-1 record in his last seven games and a 5.71 ERA. The Mariners making a big push for one of the new Wild Card spots by bolstering their pitcher staff with Luis Castillo. The M's have won four of their six games though they are coming off a four-game split with the LA Angels. Their top pitcher gets the start today in Logan Gilbert. Gilbert is 10-4 with a 3.16 ERA though a slightly higher 4.54 ERA his last seven starts. I'll take the M's at home and I'll see if I can still get them as a slight dog here. Play Seattle. |
08-07-22 | Yankees v. Cardinals +120 | Top | 9-12 | Win | 120 | 5 h 60 m | Show |
I was on the Cardinals yesterday as I looked for Montgomery to show his old team, the Yankees, that they should have let him go. And he did just that, shutting out NY as the Cards won, 1-0. The Yankees in an uncharacteristic 4-game losing skid as they head into today's contest. Frankie Montas makes his Yankees debut today as he looks to avoid the Cardinals sweep. Montas comes over from the Athletics. Montas was 4-9 with a 3.18 ERA with the A's. The St Louis Cardinals are in 1st place in the NL Central, thanks to a 6-game win streak. They look for sweep today, holding the Yankees to three runs in their first two games. Adam Wainwright will start today for the Cardinals with a 8-8 record and 3.11 ERA. He's been even better at home with a 4-3 record and 1.79 ERA. Cardinals are a dog today and for me that's a very live dog with their momentum and the better pitcher on the mound. Take the Cardinals. |
08-06-22 | Yankees v. Cardinals -108 | 0-1 | Win | 100 | 8 h 6 m | Show
The Yankees and Cardinals play game two of their Interleague series. The Cardinals won the opener on Friday, 4-3. The Yankees have dropped three straight games. However, that makes little dent in their AL East lead as they still have a 10.5-game cushion over 2nd place Toronto. Domingo German will make just his fourth start here today. German is 1-1 with a 6.39 ERA. He has two starts on the road with a 8.21 ERA. Meanwhile, the Cardinals have won five straight games. They have finally caught the Brewers in the NL Central and are tied with Milwaukee for the division lead. Jordan Montgomery will make his first start fro the Cardinals since he was traded for outfielder Harrison Bader. Montgomery makes the start against his old team. the Yankees. Montgomery was upset with the trade, thinking he would be a Yankee for life. Does he want to show his old team that they made a big mistake letting him go? I think so, and I'll take the hot Cardinals with Montgomery here today. |
08-06-22 | Pirates v. Orioles -149 | Top | 3-6 | Win | 100 | 6 h 56 m | Show |
The Pittsburgh Pirates look to even their I.L. series with the Baltimore Orioles here today. The Pirates lost their opener on Friday, 0-1. The loss snapped a 3-game win streak by Pittsburgh. They will send J.T. Brubaker to the hill today. Brubaker has had a rough season with a 2-9 record and 4.40 ERA. He is also coming off a terrible start where he allowed 12 hits and seven runs over 4 1/3 innings to the Phillies. The Orioles won their fourth straight game on Friday. The pitching staff has been very good, allowing three runs or fewer in each of their last five games. The bullpen has been solid all year, with a 3.08 ERA and a 2.33 home ERA. Austin Voth gets the start today. Voth is 1-1 in his seven starts with a nice 2.77 ERA. Voth has allowed just one earned run over his last two starts (8 innings). I'll take the O's here tonight to keep their win streak going. |
08-05-22 | Rockies v. Diamondbacks -125 | Top | 5-6 | Win | 100 | 12 h 56 m | Show |
Colorado salvaged the final game of their four game set with the Padres, taking Thursday's contest 7-3. That snapped a five-game losing streak for the Rockies. The Rockies will start German Marquez today who is 6-9 in his 20 starts with a 5.29 ERA. Arizona has lost five of their six games after Thursday's setback at Cleveland, 4-7. They will send veteran Madison Bumgarner to the hill today. Bumgarner is 6-10 in his 21 starts with a 3.83 ERA. He's been slightly better at home with a 5-3 record and 3.03 ERA. The Rockies haven't done well on the road, going 17-36 over their last 53 away games. That includes teams with losing records as they are just 5-13 in their last 18 on the road vs those clubs. Meanwhile, Arizona has won five of their last six home games. I'll take the D'backs here today. |
08-05-22 | Red Sox v. Royals +101 | 7-4 | Loss | -100 | 10 h 26 m | Show
The Boston Red Sox lost their opening game at Kansas City on Thursday, 3-7. That makes them on a two game losing skid as they play game two of four here in KC tonight. The Sox will send Josh Winckowski to the hill today. He's 4-5 in his nine starts with a 5.00 ERA. The Sox haven't been a good bet of late, going 6-15 in their last 21 games and 3-11 in their last 14 road games. The Royals look to put back-to-back wins together for the first time since July 24 and 25th. Veteran Zack Greinke will toe the rubber for the Royals today. Greinke is 3-6 in his 17 starts with a 4.41 ERA. However, he's been great at home with a 3-1 record in eight starts and a 1.65 ERA. I like Greinke on the hill tonight. Take the Royals. |
08-03-22 | Royals +136 v. White Sox | 1-4 | Loss | -100 | 2 h 28 m | Show
Kansas City and Chicago play the rubber game of this three game set. The teams have split the first two games with the Royals taking game one, 2-1 and the White Sox game two, 9-2. The Royals will send Brady Singer to the hill today. Singer is 4-3 in his 13 starts with a 3.42 ERA. He's been slightly better of late, posting a 3.05 ERA in his last seven starts. The White Sox have won three of their last four games. Lance Lynn starts tonight with a 1-4 record in his nine starts and a 6.42 ERA. Lynn has allowed four runs or more in four of his last five starts. I'll take a shot with the dog Royals here today at this nice price against a struggling Lynn. Play Kansas City. |
08-03-22 | Orioles v. Rangers -148 | 6-3 | Loss | -148 | 2 h 23 m | Show
The Baltimore Orioles looking for the three-game sweep here in Texas today. The O's won the first two of this series, 7-2 and 8-2. Kyle Bradish will get the start today with a 1-4 record in his 11 starts and a 7.01 ERA. He's been worse in his last seven starts with a 8.40 ERA. The Rangers will counter with Martin Perez. Perez is 9-2 with a 2.52 ERA in his 20 starts. Perez has allowed three total runs over his last three starts (19 innings). Perez and the Rangers a mid-size favorite here today, but I look for them to take this rubber game and salvage something from this series. Play Texas. |
08-03-22 | Mariners +156 v. Yankees | Top | 7-3 | Win | 156 | 3 h 32 m | Show |
The Seattle Mariners made a serious commitment to making the playoffs this year with the acquisition of the top pitcher in the trade market, Luis Castillo. The Mariners have made big strides, especially heading into the All-Star Break. They have won 18 of their last 24 games to 56-49 overall. While they likely won't catch Houston, they are a contender for one of the new Wild Card slots. Castillo makes his first start for the Mariners here today and it will be against the best team in the A.L, the NY Yankees. The Yankees will start Garrit Cole today. Cole is 9-3 in his 21 starts with a 3.30 ERA. He is coming off one of his poorer starts, going six innings and giving up seven hits and five runs to the Royals. I'm going to take a shot with a nice dog price on Seattle here today. The Yankees haven't seen Castillo and he might just shock them with a win. Play Seattle. |
08-02-22 | Tigers +172 v. Twins | 5-3 | Win | 172 | 7 h 22 m | Show
The Detroit Tigers look to snap a 3-game losing streak here tonight as play game two of their series with the Twins. They lost on Monday to Minnesota, 3-5. Despite losing three in a row the bullpen has been excellent of late, posting a 1.61 ERA over their last seven games and 3.05 on the season. Matt Manning will make just his third start of the season and his first since April 16. Manning had a 2.25 ERA in his first two starts before being injured. The Twins now just 1-game ahead of the Guardians in the AL Central. Minnesota has lost four of their last five games. They turn to Chris Archer tonight. Archer is 2-5 in his 17 starts with a 4.04 ERA. I'm looking at Manning returning as making the Tigers a live dog here tonight. The price is right, come on down! |
07-31-22 | Rangers v. Angels -111 | Top | 5-2 | Loss | -111 | 14 h 55 m | Show |
The Angels with the big comeback win on Saturday. LA was down 7-5 going into the bottom of the 9th when they put a five spot on the board to win, 9-7. The Rangers had taken the first two games of this four-game set with LA, 7-2 and 2-0 before that bad loss on Saturday. Dane Dunning will look to get them back on the win track today. However, he's just 1-6 in his 19 starts with a 4.38 ERA. More important the Rangers are 0-10 in his 10 road starts. The Angels will counter with Reid Detmers today. Detmers is 3-3 in his 15 starts with a 3.84 ERA. He's been better of late with a 2.88 ERA over his last seven starts. He's also allowed just two earned runs over his last three starts (17 innings). I'll take the Angels here in the final game against a Rangers' pitcher that has yet to get a team win on the road. Take the Angels. |
07-30-22 | Brewers -100 v. Red Sox | Top | 9-4 | Win | 100 | 5 h 7 m | Show |
Milwaukee extended their win streak to 3-games with their win over Boston on Friday, 4-1. The Brewers are maintaining their 3-game lead in the NL Central over St Louis. Eric Lauer gets the start today for the Brewers with a 6-3 record in his 18 starts and a 3.85 ERA. Boston can't seem to string any win's together, having lost eight of their last 10 games. Nick Pivetta will start today with a 8-7 record in his 20 starts and a 4.35 ERA. Pivetta has been a bit worse of late, posting a 2-2 record in his last seven games with a 6.00 ERA. I'm sticking with the 1st place Brewers here tonight with a slightly better starter on the hill. Play Milwaukee. |
07-29-22 | Cubs +125 v. Giants | 4-2 | Win | 125 | 18 h 33 m | Show
The Cubs and Giants play game two of their series here tonight in San Francisco. The Giants took the opener on Thursday, 4-2. That loss snapped a Cubs six-game win streak. During that win streak the Cubs allowed three runs or fewer in each contest. Marcus Stroman will start today for the Cubs. Troman is 2-5 in his 12 starts with a 4.38 ERA. He's been good on the road though, with a 2-2 record and 2.31 ERA. And overall his last seven starts he's posted a 3.82 ERA. The Giants playoff hopes drop each games as they now are below .500 at 49-50. Coming into this season it was the Giants bullpen that was one of the best in baseball. This season, horrible at 4.55 ERA. And last seven games, a 8.68 ERA. Alex Cobb starts for the Giants tonight with a 3-4 record and 4.62 ERA. Cobb allowed eight hits and four runs last time out to the Dodgers over 5 2/3 innings. Cubs a live dog here tonight, especially the way the Giants bullpen has performed lately. Take Chicago. |

07-29-22 | Twins v. Padres -110 | Top | 1-10 | Win | 100 | 17 h 57 m | Show |
Both these clubs had Thursday off to prepare for this InterLeague matchup in San Diego as the Padres host the Twins. The Twins lead the AL Central but that lead has dwindled to just 1.5 games over the Guardians. The Twins look to snap a two-game losing streak here tonight after being swept in Milwaukee. The Twins will start Joe Ryan here tonight, their pitcher with the most wins at 7-3. Ryan has a 2.89 ERA but has been slightly worse of late with a 2-1 record and 3.58 ERA over his last seven starts. The Padres hopes of a NL West title are fading as they are now 11.5-games back of the Dodgers in the NL West. The Padres still have to fight for one of the new Wild Card slots though. Blake Snell will start for the Padres tonight. Snell is 2-5 with a 4.74 ERA. He is coming off one of his best starts, allowing four hits and no runs over five innings to the Mets. I like the Padres as I hope Snell's last start is just an indication of what's to come for him. Play San Diego. |
07-29-22 | Rangers -102 v. Angels | 7-2 | Win | 100 | 12 h 58 m | Show
The Texas Rangers snapped their three game losing streak with a win over the Angels in game one of their series on Thursday, 2-0. The Rangers and Angels now both near the bottom of the AL West, as only Oakland has a worse record. The Rangers best pitcher will start tonight in Martin Perez. Perez is 8-2 in his 19 starts with a 2.59 ERA. He's been slightly better on the road with a 4-0 record in nine starts and a 2.37 ERA. The Angels had won two straight games before their loss last night. The Angels have been in a bad stretch, going 5-15 in their last 20 games. Patrick Sandoval starts tonight with a 3-6 record in 16 starts and a 3.43 ERA. He's been slightly worse in recent starts, going 0-5 in his last seven outings with a 4.25 ERA. Hard to believe the Angels a slight favorite here tonight. Perez is excellent for the Rangers while Sandoval has been bad of late. Take Texas. |
07-29-22 | Brewers -158 v. Red Sox | 4-1 | Win | 100 | 14 h 27 m | Show
The Milwaukee Brewers had yesterday off while the Boston Red Sox beat the Guardians, 4-2. The Brewers are still in 1st place in the NL Central, but their lead has shrunk to just 3-games over St Louis. Milwaukee has won two straight games and five of their last six games. Brandon Woodruff will start tonight for the Brewers with a 8-3 record in his 14 starts and a 3.73 ERA. Woodruff has been very good in recent starts with a 4-1 record and 2.33 over his last seven outings. The Red Sox have struggled of late, losing two straight and seven of eight and 11 of 13. Brayan Bello will start for the Sox today. Bello is 0-2 in his three starts with a 10.50 ERA. Bello has gone four innings in each start and has allowed eight walks against just nine KO's. I'll be on the Brewers here today. |
07-29-22 | Mets v. Marlins +110 | 6-4 | Loss | -100 | 14 h 58 m | Show
The New York Mets have won three straight, including a 2-games sweep at Yankee Stadium over their cross-town rivals. The Mets hold a slim 3-game lead over the surging Atlanta Braves. Chris Bassitt starts today for the Mets with a 7-7 record in his 18 starts and a 3.63 ERA. Miami won at Cincinnati on Thursday, 7-6. The Marlins have alternated wins and losses their last seven games. Today their get their Ace on the hill in Sandy Alcantara. Alcantara is 9-4 in his 20 starts with a 1.81 ERA. He's been slightly better at home with a 1.66 ERA. Alcantara has allowed more than two earned runs in a start just twice in 20 starts. Hard to believe this guy is a home dog to a average Mets starter. I'll take this live dog with Miami today. |
07-28-22 | Mariners +125 v. Astros | Top | 2-4 | Loss | -100 | 10 h 11 m | Show |
The Seattle Mariners completed their 3-game sweep of the Texas Rangers with a win on Wednesday, 4-2. After that big 14-game win streak the club lost three straight and now has won three in a row. They will travel to Houston here tonight to start a 4-game series. They trail the Astros by 10-games in the AL West, but have a good shot at a Wild Card slot. Their top pitcher takes to the hill tonight in Logan Gilbert. Gilbert is 10-4 in his 20 starts with a 2.85 ERA. Gilbert has been slightly better on the road with a 6-1 record and 2.42 ERA. The Astros return home following a six game road trip that saw them lost all three at Oakland, two of those games as -2.00 favorites. Jose Urquidy will start today with a 9-4 record and 3.93 ERA. Urquidy has been very good for the Astros this year. This should be a very good pitching duel tonight but I'll take the dog price with the Mariners and their Ace on the hill. Play Seattle. |
07-27-22 | Astros v. A's +185 | 2-4 | Win | 185 | 4 h 59 m | Show
The Houston Astros look to salvage one game of their three-game set with the A's here today. The Astros lost Monday as a 2.10 favorite, 5-7 and then as a 1.50 favorite on Tuesday, 3-5. Cristian Javier starts today for the Astros. Javier is 6-5 with a 3.62 ERA. The Oakland A's have had a rough season, however they have been decent of late. The A's are 5-1 over their last six games. They have also won four of the last five vs the Astros, three of those games as a +1.90, +1.82 and +2.30 dogs. Cole Irvin starts today with a 5-7 record in his 17 starts and a 2.99 ERA. He's been even better at home with a 3-2 record in nine starts and a 1.63 ERA. The A's have been beating the Astros as big dogs and I will take another shot with them here today. Play the Athletics. |
07-27-22 | Padres -135 v. Tigers | Top | 3-4 | Loss | -135 | 2 h 16 m | Show |
The San Diego Padres in a fight right now for a NL Wild Card, as they trail first place LA by 8.5-games in the West. The Padres snapped a two game losing streak with a win over the Tigers on Tuesday, 6-4. Today, they send one of their best pitchers to the hill in Yu Darvish. Darvish is 9-4 in his 18 starts with a 3.28 ERA. He's been even sharper in recent starts with a 4-1 record over his last seven starts and a 2.81 ERA. The Tigers won't be going anywhere this postseason. The Tigers have lost four of their last five games and eight of their last 10 games. Tarik Skubal gets the start today with a 7-8 record in 19 starts and a 3.71 ERA. Skubal has been a decent starter for the Tigers, but the Padres are one of the better road teams in baseball with a very good pitcher on the hill. Your play is on the San Diego Padres. |
07-26-22 | Angels v. Royals -118 | Top | 6-0 | Loss | -118 | 18 h 20 m | Show |
The Kansas City Royals took game one of their series with the Angels on Monday, 7-1. The Angels just can't seem to put back-to-back wins together. The last time the Angels won two in a row you have to go back to June 26 and 27 vs Seattle. The loss on Monday was the club's 6th in their last seven games and and 15th in their last 18 games. Jose Suarez will start today for the Angels as he's looking for his first win in 10 starts. Suarez is 0-4 with a 6.34 ERA and 1.644 WHIP. The Royals win on Monday was their third in a row. Angel Zerpa will make just his second start of the season here tonight. Zerpa is 1-0 and went five innings for the win vs the Blue Jays in his first start. He also gave up just four hits and one run in the win. The Angels have been horrible and they have a bad pitcher on the mound. I'll take a shot with Zerpa here tonight and the Royals. |
07-25-22 | Angels v. Royals -105 | 0-7 | Win | 100 | 9 h 32 m | Show
The Angels snapped their five game losing streak by salvaging the final game of their three game set with the Braves, 9-1. Still, the Halos are just 2-10 their last 12 games. Noah Syndergaard will toe the rubber today for the Angels with a 5-7 record in his 14 starts and a 4.00 ERA. Syndergaard is slightly worse on the road with a 5.96 ERA and 1-5 record. The Royals won their second straight game on Sunday over Tampa Bay, 4-2. The Royals are just 38-57 overall on the season and well back in the AL Central. Veteran Zack Greinke gets the start today with his 3-6 record and 4.63 ERA. Greinke has been really good at home though, with a 3-1 record in his seven games and a 1.86 ERA. I'll take the Royals here tonight against a very poor Angels team. |
07-25-22 | Guardians +100 v. Red Sox | Top | 1-3 | Loss | -100 | 8 h 32 m | Show |
The Cleveland Guardians trying to make up ground on the Minnesota Twins in the AL Central. The Guardians are 48-46 and trail 1st place Minnesota by 3-games. However, losing two straight games doesn't help close that gap. Cleveland split their four game series with the White Sox, taking the first two and losing the last two. Zach Plesac will start for the Guardians tonight. Plesac is 2-7 in his 17 starts with a 3.93 ERA. Plesac has not allowed over three runs in any of his last nine starts. The Red Sox bring a five-game losing streak into today's contest. The Sox lost two of three to the Yankees and then got swept over the weekend by the Blue Jays, getting outscored 10-40 by Toronto. Nick Pivetta will start tonight for the Sox. Pivetta is 8-7 in his 19 starts with a 4.50- ERA. He's coming off two bad starts where he allowed 13 runs over 7 2/3 innings. I'll take the road team here as the Sox look to be in a free fall. Play Cleveland. |
07-24-22 | Blue Jays -139 v. Red Sox | Top | 8-4 | Win | 100 | 13 h 54 m | Show |
Toronto and Boston conclude their series here on Sunday and the Blue Jays looking for the sweep after taking Saturday's contest, 4-1. That makes four wins in a row for Toronto and six of their last seven games. While the Jays have little shot of catching the Yankees in the AL East, they can still garner one of the Wild Cards slots in a newly revamped Wild Card playoff postseason. This year they play the best of three Wild Card round games instead of the one and done format of previous years. Ross Stripling will start for the Jays today with a 4-3 record in his 13 starts and a 2.84 ERA. Stripling has allowed two runs or fewer in seven of his last eight starts. He also has a 2.41 ERA over his last seven starts. Boston is seeing their postseason aspirations dwindle as they have lost three straight games and seven of their last eight. Brayan Bello will start today for the Sox with a 0-1 record after two starts. Bello has a 10.13 ERA and has yet to make it past four innings of work. The Jays are hot, they have a hot pitcher on the hill and the Red Sox are struggling. This will have me on Toronto again here on Sunday. Play Toronto. |
07-23-22 | Nationals v. Diamondbacks -148 | 2-7 | Win | 100 | 8 h 58 m | Show
The Washington Nationals play game two out West vs the Arizona Diamondbacks tonight. Washington lost game one on Fridayy, 1-10. That was their 10th loss in their last 11 games and 18th in their last 20 games. Anibal Sanchez makes just his second start since Sept 26, 2020 here tonight. Sanchez sat out all of last season and the first half of this season. Arizona has won two straight including last night's contest over the Nats. Madison Bumgarner will toe the rubber tonight for the D'backs. Bumgarner is 5-9 this season with a 3.83 ERA. He's been slightly better at home with a 3.15 ERA in 10 starts. I'm going to take Arizona tonight since who knows how Sanchez will perform. And he likely won't be around long in either case. Take Arizona. |
07-23-22 | Blue Jays -135 v. Red Sox | Top | 4-1 | Win | 100 | 5 h 25 m | Show |
Toronto realistically fighting for a wild card spot at this point in the AL East as the Yankees are 13.5-games ahead of them. Still, with a 51-43 record the Jays have a good shot at a playoff spot with this year's new Wild Card format. Toronto has won four straight, including a monster blowout win on Friday over the Red Sox, 28-5. That also makes six of their last seven games a win. Alek Manoah will start today for the Jays with a 10-4 record and 2.28 ERA. The Red Sox will try and snap a 3-game losing streak. They have also lost seven of their last eight games as their Wild Card aspirations look to be dwindling. Kutter Crawford gets the start today with a 0-1 record in his four starts and a 3.60 ERA. I'm going to stick with the hot Blue Jays and one of the best pitchers in the American League. Play Toronto. |
07-22-22 | Astros v. Mariners +106 | Top | 5-2 | Loss | -100 | 21 h 19 m | Show |
The Houston Astros opened the 2nd half of the baseball season in fine fashion by taking both ends of a home doubleheader away from the Yankees on Thursday. Now they travel to NorthWest to take on Seattle, arguably the hottest team in baseball. The Astros will send Jose Urquidy to the hill tonight. Urquidy is 8-4 in his 17 starts with a 4.09 ERA and slightly higher 5.20 road ERA. The Mariners hated to see the break come as they are on a 14-game win streak and have leapt into 2nd place in the AL West, 9-games back of the Astros. Marco Gonzales makes the start today for the M's with a 5-9 record in his 18 starts and a 3.50 ERA. The Astros had to play two games yesterday and that will have taken a toll on the players and the bullpen. I'll take the hottest team in baseball here tonight. Play Seattle. |
07-22-22 | Yankees v. Orioles +150 | 7-6 | Loss | -100 | 18 h 15 m | Show
The Baltimore Orioles were hot to close out the first half of the baseball season, winning 11 of their last 13 games. Though they did drop two of three game to the Tampa Bay Rays in that final series. Still, the O's have built some momentum has they take on the Yankees here tonight. The Yankees had to go play a doubleheader yesterday in Houston and were swept in both ends by the Astros. They then had to hit the road to come here to Baltimore to play the Orioles. That should benefit Baltimore tonight as they catch the Yankees with a tired pen and some weary players. The O's will send Tyler Wells to the hill with a 7-5 record and nifty 3.37 ERA. He's been very good at home with a 2-0 mark in is seven starts and a 2.75 ERA. The Yankees will counter with Jemeson Taillon who is 10-2 in his 18 starts and a 3.86 ERA. Tallion has allowed 12 runs over his last 15 1/3 innings however. Baltimore a good sized home dog and with the Yanks playing two yesterday and then traveling, I see the O's as a live home dog tonight. Play Baltimore. |
07-21-22 | Yankees v. Astros -128 | Top | 2-3 | Win | 100 | 2 h 0 m | Show |
Game one of this doubleheader here has two of the best in the American league and possibly a AL Pennant matchup with the Yankees taking on the Astros. The Yankees closed the first half with two wins over Boston, outscoring the Sox 27-3. Jordan Montgomery gets the start today with a 3-2 record in his 18 starts and a 3.26 ERA. The Houston Astros, like the Yankees, are cruising in their division as they lead the AL West by 9-games over the Seattle Mariners. The Astros will start Cristian Javier today who is 6-5 in his 13 starts with a 3.76 ERA and a 3.11 home ERA. Both teams are very good and both pitchers are top notch. I expect a split here today, but in this one I'm backing the home team. Play Houston. |
07-17-22 | Mariners -122 v. Rangers | Top | 6-2 | Win | 100 | 4 h 23 m | Show |
The Seattle Mariners remained the hottest team in baseball as we enter the All-Star break. The Mariners won their 13th game in a row on Saturday, though it did take extra innings this time over the Rangers. The Mariners now have Wild Card aspirations with this spurt that has moved them to 50-42 overall. Chris Flexen gets the start today with his 6-8 record in his 17 starts. Flexen has a 3.84 ERA but has been very good during this win streak, winning his last two starts while allowing just one earned run over 12 2/3 innings. The Rangers are in danger of getting the four game sweep by the Mariners today. They will Glenn Otto to the hill to try and get the win. Otto is 4-5 in his 12 starts with a 5.50 ERA. He's been much worse at home with a 2-4 record and 8.07 ERA. I'm going to sick with the red-hot Mariners here on Sunday. Play Seattle. |
07-16-22 | Orioles +108 v. Rays | 6-4 | Win | 108 | 6 h 16 m | Show
The Baltimore Orioles joined the Seattle Mariners and LA Dodgers as one of the hottest teams in baseball. That's right, the Orioles! They had won 10 straight games before losing on Thursday to Tampa Bay, 4-5. And as they say, "The Price is Right." None of those 10 wins had a price higher than -1.10 and all the way up to +1.35. Today, Dean Kramer looks to get them back to another streak. Kramer is 3-1 in his seven starts with a nice 2.15 ERA. He's been great on the road with a 2-0 record in three starts and a 0.51 ERA. The Rays have rattled off 5-straight wins of their own after Friday's game. Ryan Yarbrough will toe the rubber today looking for his first win of the season after six starts. Yarbrough has a 6.20 ERA and 7.59 ERA at home. I'll take the small dog price on the Orioles here today with a better pitcher on the hill. Play Baltimore. |
07-16-22 | Mariners -134 v. Rangers | Top | 3-2 | Win | 100 | 14 h 7 m | Show |
The Seattle Mariners remain the hottest team in baseball after winning their 12th straight game on Friday over the Rangers, 8-3. They also closed another game on division leader Houston, now trailing by 10-games. Seattle has their best pitcher on the mound today in Logan Gilbert. Gilbert is 10-3 in his 18 starts with a 2.89 ERA. The Rangers dropped their second game in a row with Friday's loss. The bullpen has been hit hard in recent times with a 6.68 ERA over their last seven games. Spencer Howard will get the start here on Saturday. Howard will make his fourth start with a 1-0 record. However, his ERA is a very high 8.25. Hard to go against a red hot team with their best pitcher on the hill. And I won't, I'll be back on the Mariners here today. |
07-16-22 | Mets -132 v. Cubs | 2-1 | Win | 100 | 12 h 22 m | Show
The Mets took their opening game with the Cubs on Thursday, 8-0, making that their second win in a row. The Mets are trying to hold off the surging Braves who now are just 2.5 games back in the NL East division. The Mets will start Taijuan Walker in game one of their doubleheader today. Walker is 7-2 in his 15 starts with a 2.63 ETA. Walker has not allowed more than three runs in any of his last six starts. The Cubs look to snap a 7-game losing streak here today. Chicago was swept in LA and then returned home and was swept by Baltimore. Marcus Stroman will make his 11th start with a 2-5 record and 4.51 ERA. Stroman has been very inconsistent, pitching well one game and then not the next. I like the Mets against a floundering Cubs team here today. Play New York. |
07-15-22 | Mariners -155 v. Rangers | 8-3 | Win | 100 | 8 h 29 m | Show
The Seattle Mariners are the hottest team in baseball right now, having won 11-straight games to improve to 48-42. They are still 9.5 games back of Houston in the AL West, but easily in 2nd place. Robbie Ray will toe the rubber today with a 7-6 record and 3.51 ERA. Ray has allowed one run or no runs in each of his last six starts. The Rangers are coming off a loss to Seattle last night, 5-6. The Rangers are 41-46 in the AL West. Matt Bush starts tonight for the Rangers with no record in his three starts and a 3.00 ERA. Bush has pitched well in limited action, but Ray has been great as have the Mariners. I'll be on the Mariners again tonight. |
07-15-22 | Phillies v. Marlins -157 | 2-1 | Loss | -157 | 7 h 3 m | Show
The Philadelphia Phillies look to snap a 4-game losing streak here tonight as they start a new series at Miami. The Phillies will start Kyle Gibson here tonight. Gibson is 4-3 in his 17 starts with a 4.53 ERA. He's been slightly worse on the road where he's 0-2 in his eight starts with a 5.22 ERA. Will be tough for Philly tonight as they take on the Marlins Ace in Sandy Alcantara who is 9-3 on the season. In addition, he's got a excellent 1.73 ERA and even better home ERA of 1.59. Alcantara has not allowed a run over his last two starts (15 innings). I'll take the Marlins here tonight with their Ace on the hill. |
07-14-22 | Red Sox v. Rays -124 | Top | 4-5 | Win | 100 | 8 h 52 m | Show |
The Boston Red Sox look to avoid a 4-games sweep at the hands of the Tampa Bay Rays today. The Sox have lost the first three games of this series, including Wednesday's game, 1-4. The Red Sox trail the Rays for 2nd place in the AL East by 1.5 games. Kutter Crawford looks to make his fourth start of the season here today. Crawford is 0-1 with a 3.21 ERA. The Rays will counter with Drew Rasmussen. Rasmussen is 5-3 in his 14 starts with a 3.10 ERA. He's been very good at home with a 3-0 record (team 5-1) in his six starts and a 1.65 ERA. I'll take the Rays to sweep this series here today. |
07-13-22 | Mariners +105 v. Nationals | 6-4 | Win | 105 | 2 h 31 m | Show
Game one of a DH has Seattle looking to extend their 8-game win streak at Washington. The Mariners just came off a four game sweep of Toronto and a 2-game sweep of San Diego. Chris Flexen starts game one here today with a 5-8 record in his 16 starts and a 4.00 ERA. Flexen has been very consistent, allowing three runs or fewer in each of his last eight starts. Meanwhile the Nationals have lost four straight games, including a three game sweep at the hands of Atlanta. Josiah Gray will start game one with a 7-5 record in his 16 starts and a 4.14 ERA. He has been worse at home with a 2-5 record and 6.42 ERA. I'll take Seattle here in the opening game of their doubleheader. |
07-11-22 | Padres v. Rockies +139 | 6-5 | Loss | -100 | 9 h 33 m | Show
The San Diego Padres split their four game series with the Giants over the Weekend. After winning the first two games, they dropped the last two, including Sunday's, 0-12. They now trail the LA Dodgers in the NL West by 8-games. Sean Manaea will start today for the Padres with a 3-4 record in his 15 starts and a 4.18 ERA. The Rockies begin their four game set with the Padres tied for last in the NL West with the Diamondbacks at 38-48. Jose Urena will make just his second start of the season for the Rockies. His first start was excellent, going 6 2/3 innings vs the Dodgers and allowing five hits and just one run. I'll take a shot with the home dog Rockies and see if Urena can duplicate his first effort. Play Colorado. |
07-10-22 | Angels v. Orioles +102 | 5-9 | Win | 102 | 2 h 20 m | Show
The LA Angels continue to struggle as they dropped Saturday's game at Baltimore, 0-1. That makes three in a row that the Angels have lost to Baltimore as game four plays here on Sunday. The Angels have also lost seven of their last eight games. Jose Suarez will start today for the Angels with a 0-2 record in his seven starts an a 4.94 ERA. Meanwhile, the Orioles have quietly won seven games in a row. Austin Voth will look to make it eight in a row today. Voth is 0-1 in his four starts with a 3.46 ERA. Voth has pitched well in all four of his starts this year. Yet, here the Angels are once again the favorite. Not sure how that is with the Orioles in a win streak and an equally good pitcher on the hill. I'll take them again here on Sunday. Play Baltimore. |
07-09-22 | Blue Jays v. Mariners +112 | 1-2 | Win | 112 | 11 h 22 m | Show
The Toronto Blue Jays have dropped two straight games to just 45-40. The Jays will have to now focus on a Wild Card berth as the Yankees are running away with the AL East at 61-23. Alek Monoah will start today with his 9-3 overall record in 16 starts and a 2.33 ERA. The Jays have lost three of his last four starts though, including last game at Oakland, 1-5. Meanwhile Seattle has won six straight games to finally get back above the .500 mark at 43-42. Robbie Ray will toe the rubber today for the M's with a 7-6 record in his 17 starts and a 3.62 ERA. Ray has been even better at home with a 4-2 record in nine starts and a 2.33 ERA. I'll stick with the hot Mariners today with a very good Ray on the hill. Play Seattle. |
07-09-22 | Rays -147 v. Reds | 4-5 | Loss | -147 | 5 h 21 m | Show
Tampa Bay dropped game one of this IL Series with the Reds on Friday, 1-2. That loss now has the Rays 15-games back in the AL East despite having a record 7-games above .500 at 45-38. Drew Rasmussen will start today for the Rays with a 5-3 record in his 13 starts and a 3.30 ERA. Rasmussen came back off the IL with a nice start at Toronto, allowing just five hits and two runs over 4 2/3 innings. The Reds have won two straight games to improve to 30-54 on the season. Hunter Greene has had a rough season thus far at 3-10 overall in 16 starts with a 6.01 ERA. Greene has allowed 19 runs over his last four starts (19 2/3 innings). I'll take Tampa Bay to rebound here today in game two. Play the Rays. |
07-09-22 | Angels v. Orioles +106 | 0-1 | Win | 106 | 5 h 17 m | Show
The LA Angels look to snap a two game losing streak here today as they drop the first two games of this series with the Orioles. The Angels lost last night to the O's, 4-5. That makes them losers of six of their last seven games. Patrick Sandoval starts today for the Halos with a 3-3 record in his 13 starts and a 3.09 ERA. Sandoval coming off one of his worst starts last time out where he allowed eight hits and five runs over just five innings in a 1-9 loss at Houston. Meanwhile the Orioles have won six straight games. They still are three games under the .500 mark however. Today Dean Kremer will start today with a 2-1 record in his six starts. Kremer has a 2.48 ERA and has allowed one run or no runs in four of his six starts. Not sure the Angels should be favored over anyone these days, especially on the road. I'll take the Orioles here today. |
07-08-22 | Phillies v. Cardinals +113 | 2-0 | Loss | -100 | 10 h 40 m | Show
The Phillies look to build on their win from Thursday over the Nationals, 5-3. They still trail 1st place NY Mets by 8-games in the NL East. Zack Wheeler will get the start here today with a 7-4 record in his 15 starts and a 2.66 ERA. He hasn't been quite so good on the road where he's 2-2 over six starts and a 4.45 ERA. St Louis also coming off a win on Thursday over Atlanta, 3-2 as a +2.15 dog. That win snapped a four-game losing streak for the Cards. Adam Wainwright gets the start today with a 6-6 mark over 16 starts and 3.26 ERA. He's been better at home with a 3-2 record in seven starts and a 2.25 ERA. Cards as a home dog here today is a too much to pass on for me. I see very good value with St Louis at home. Play St Louis. |
07-08-22 | Angels v. Orioles -124 | 4-5 | Win | 100 | 9 h 32 m | Show
The LA Angels win streak was brief at just one game as they lost game one of this series with the Orioles, 1-4 on Thursday. That makes them 1-5 over their last six games. Their bad run is now 17-35 over their last 52 games. They are also 5-17 in their last 22 road games. Meanwhile, Baltimore has won five straight games having swept Texas and now game one with the Angels. Tyler Wells starts today with a 7-4 record and 3.09 ERA. He's been better at home with a 4-2 record in his six starts with a 2.20 ERA. Wells has allowed one run or no runs in each of his last four starts. Reid Detmers will toe the rubber with the Angels. Detmers is 2-3 in his 12 starts with a 4.66 ERA. O's playing well and Wells has been excellent. Great price too on the O's at home. Play Baltimore. |
07-08-22 | Rays -165 v. Reds | Top | 1-2 | Loss | -165 | 8 h 7 m | Show |
Inter League action here today has the Tampa Bay Rays heading to Cincinnati to take on the Reds. The Rays just took two of three from Boston and has also won five of their last six games to improve to 45-37 in the AL East. Unfortunately they are pretty much playing for a Wild Card at this point since the Yankees are 14.5-games ahead of them in the AL East. Shane McClanahan will get the start for the Rays with a 9-3 record in his 16 starts and a 1.74 ERA. He's been even better on the road with a 2-1 mark in five starts and a 1.44 ERA. McClananhan has allowed one run or no runs in each of his last five starts and two runs or fewer in 11 straight games. The Cincinnati Reds split their two games with the Pirates, taking Thursday's contest, 5-1. The Reds are now just 6-15 in their last 21 games and 5-16 in their last 21 home games. Luis Castillo will start today with a 3.4 record and 3.09 ERA. Castillo has pitched well of late, allowing one run over his lat 13 innings. Even with the success of late of Castillo, McClanahan looks to be a AL Cy Young candidate right now and is just too good. Play Tampa Bay. |
07-07-22 | Angels v. Orioles -107 | 1-4 | Win | 100 | 8 h 35 m | Show
The LA Angels snapped their four game losing streak with a win over Miami on Wednesday, 5-2. The Angels who once contended for the AL West are now double digits back in the standings. Chase Silseth starts today for the Halos with a 1-2 record in his five starts and a 5.23 ERA. The Orioles won their fourth in a row with their win on Wednesday over Texas, 2-1. They swept their 3-game series with the Rangers. Jordan Lyles will start today with a 4-7 mark in his 16 starts and a 4.70 ERA. He's been very good at home this year with a 1-2 mark in six starts and a 2.92 ERA. I look for the Orioles to beat LA here today behind Lyles who is coming off one of his best starts of the season. Play Baltimore. |
07-06-22 | Giants v. Diamondbacks +115 | 7-5 | Loss | -100 | 10 h 33 m | Show
The San Francisco Giants are fading fast in the NL West. Once a favorite to battle the Dodgers for the division crown, the Giants looked good early in the season only to fall on hard times in recent weeks and months. They have lost six straight games and now trail LA by 10.5-games. The once mighty bullpen has also taken a beaten with a 7.24 ERA over their last seven games. Alex Cobb gets the start today for the Giants with a 3-3 record over his 11 starts with a 4.94 ERA. He's been worse on the road with a 6.41 ERA. Arizona has taken two straight from the Giants as they look for the sweep today. Merrill Kelly is 7-5 in his 16 starts with a 3.46 ERA. He is coming off an excellent start where he allowed just one run over seven innings in a win over Colorado. I'll take the D'backs here today as they take the 3-game series from SF. |
07-06-22 | Rays +116 v. Red Sox | 7-1 | Win | 116 | 10 h 50 m | Show
Tampa Bay and Boston have split the first two games of this series with Boston winning game one on Monday, 4-0, and Tampa Bay winning last night, 8-4. Only one game separates these two AL East teams in the division, but both trail the Yankees by over 10 games. The Indians will start Corey Kluber today. Kluber is 3-5 on the season and has a 3.91 ERA. After a fine string of starts, Kluber only lasted three innings in his last start at Toronto, allowing five runs. The Sox look to have Brayan Bello make his major league debut here today. With the Red Sox starting staff having injuries, Bello was called up to get his first start. Bello was a combined 10-4 with a 2.33 ERA in the minors and is one of Boston's top prospects. For me, I'll stick with the Rays here today and Kluber who has looked much better in recent starts. Play Tampa Bay. |
07-05-22 | Rangers v. Orioles +100 | 9-10 | Win | 100 | 8 h 17 m | Show
The Texas Rangers look to snap their two game losing streak here tonight in the 2nd game of their series in Baltimore. The Orioles took game one on Monday, 7-6 as the Rangers couldn't hold a 6-5 lead going into the bottom of the 9th inning. Spencer Howard makes just his second start of the season here tonight. Howard went just three innings in his first start at Toronto, giving up six hits and six runs. The O's will counter with Austin Voth. Voth has just three starts with a 0-1 record and 2.08 ERA. He's pitched well, though he has only gone a maximum of three innings thus far. I'll take a shot on the Orioles at home here today. |
07-05-22 | Angels v. Marlins -130 | 1-2 | Win | 100 | 8 h 51 m | Show
The LA Angels have lost three games in a row after getting swept by Houston. They were outscored 4-21 in the series. The only hope the Angels really had to get back in the race was taking that series, instead they were swept. Noah Syndergaard will get the start today with a 5-6 record after 12 starts with a 3.86 ERA. The Angels have lost three of his last four starts. Meanwhile, the Marlins ran their win streak to five games after sweeping their four game series with the Nationals. Their Ace, Sandy Alcantara starts today with a 8-3 record and 1.95 ERA after 16 starts. Alcantara has allowed two runs or fewers in 10 of his last 11 starts. Miami is now 11-1 their last 12 games vs a team with a losing record. They are also 7-2 in their last nine home games. I'll take the Marlins here on Tuesday. |
07-04-22 | Cardinals v. Braves -161 | Top | 3-6 | Win | 100 | 16 h 3 m | Show |
The St Louis Cardinals wrapped-up their series with the Phillies by getting shut-out on Sunday night, 0-4. The Cardinals recent 4-6 skid has seen them d rop to 2-games back of the Brewers in the AL Central. The Cardinals will send Dakota Hudson to the hill today. Hudson is 6-4 in his 15 starts with a 3.82 ERA. The Cardinals have not done well on the road vs a team with a winning record, evidenced by their 5-13 record their last 18 times. The Braves lost on Sunday to the Reds, 3-4. That loss coupled with the Mets win dropped the Braves to 3.5-games back in the AL East. The Braves send Kyle Wright to the hill with a 9-4 record in his 15 starts. Wright has the most wins on the team and just a 3.03 ERA this season. Atlanta is 23-7 their last 30 games and 11-3 in their last 14 home games. I'll take the Braves here on this Holiday Monday. |
07-04-22 | Rangers v. Orioles -103 | 6-7 | Win | 100 | 10 h 48 m | Show
Texas dropped their last game of their series at the Mets on Sunday, 1-4. The Rangers lost the series to the Mets one game to two. They open up this holiday Monday with a 3-games set at Baltimore before heading to Minnesota, Oakland and Seattle on what is a long road trip. The Rangers send Dane Dunning to the mound with a 1-6 record and 4.09 ERA. He's been a bit worse on the road with a 0-5 record and 5.58 ERA. In fact, the Rangers are 0-8 in Dunning's eight road starts. The Orioles beat Minnesota on Sunday, 3-1. Dean Kramer will toe the rubber for the Orioles. Kramer is 2-1 in his five starts with a 1.29 ERA. Kramer has not allowed a run in any of his last three starts (18 2/3 innings) and only four total runs all season. The Orioles look to be a good bet here on Monday with Kramer on the hill. Take Baltimore at this bargain price. |
07-03-22 | Cardinals v. Phillies -148 | Top | 0-4 | Win | 100 | 8 h 11 m | Show |
The St Louis Cardinals are just one-game back of the Milwaukee Brewers now in the NL Central after their win over the Phils on Saturday, 7-6. The Cards are just 3-8 in their last 11 road games and 5-13 in their last 18 on the road vs a team with a winning record. Adam Wainwright will get the start here today for the Cardinals. Wainwright is 6-5 in his 15 starts with a 3.07 ERA. Philly looks to take this three game set as they send Zack Wheeler to the hill. Wheeler is 6-4 in his 14 starts with a 2.89 ERA. He's been even better at home with a 4-2 record in eight starts and a 1.85 ERA. The Phillies have won nine of the last 13 in this series and six of the last eight in Philly. I'll take the home team here tonight. Play Philadelphia. |
07-03-22 | Rangers +128 v. Mets | Top | 1-4 | Loss | -100 | 2 h 23 m | Show |
The Texas Rangers look to take this three game set with the Mets today. The Rangers won on Saturday as a nice little dog with Perez, 7-3. Today they send Jon Gray to the hill. Gray is 4-3 in his 13 starts with a 3.89 ERA. Gray has been very good, allowing two runs or fewer in four straight games and five of his last six games. He has also won three straight starts, allowing three total runs over 19 2/3 innings. The Mets dropped to 48-30 with their loss on Saturday and have the NL's second best record behind the Dodgers. Carlos Carrasco will start today with a 8-4 record in 15 starts and a 4.74 ERA. Carrasco coming off a pair of bad starts where he allowed six runs in 4 2/3 innings to the Astros and five runs in 2 1/3 innings to the Astros. I look at Gray as a very live dog here today in New York. Play Texas. |
07-02-22 | Rangers +120 v. Mets | 7-3 | Win | 120 | 5 h 36 m | Show
The Texas Rangers lost game one of this series with the NY Mets on Friday, 3-4. The loss dropped the Rangers to 36-39 and while in 2nd place in the AL West, they are 12.5-games back of the Astros for 1st place. The Rangers have done well in IL games, particularly against the NL East where they are 22-9 their last 31 games. Martin Perez makes the start today for the Rangers with a 6-2 record and 2.22 ERA in 15 starts. He has done well for the most part, though he has the occasional bad start. In his 15 starts he's allowed two runs or fewer in 11 of those games, three runs in two and more than 3 runs just twice. At one time the NY Mets had a nice lead in the AL East. However, that has dwindled to just 3.5 games over 2nd place St Louis. Trevor Williams will get the start today with a 1-3 record in his six starts and a 4.88 ERA. I like to find dogs with value and the Rangers have good value today with a very good pitcher on the hill. Take the Rangers. |
07-01-22 | Angels v. Astros -160 | 1-8 | Win | 100 | 9 h 41 m | Show
The LA Angels at one time contended for the AL West lead with the Astros. But after a disastrous June that saw their head coach being fired, they now are 12.5 games back of the Astros. The Angels have won of late, going 3-1 in their last four games. Michael Lorenzen gets the start tonight for the Halos. Lorenzez is 6-5 in his 12 starts with a 4.24 ERA. He's been worse on the road with a 2-3 record in five starts and a 6.14 ERA. The Houston Astros look to have little competition in the West, with the Angels and Mariners the closest behind them. Cristian Javier is 5-3 in his 10 starts with a 3.33 ERA. He's been better at home with a 3-2 record in five starts and a 2.45 ERA. Javier has allowed two runs or fewer in six of his last seven starts. I'll take the Astros at home here tonight. |
07-01-22 | Cardinals -135 v. Phillies | 3-5 | Loss | -135 | 7 h 35 m | Show
The St Louis Cardinals have closed the gap in the NL Central to just 1-game behind division leading Milwaukee. The Cardinals begin a tough stretch of games with three at Philly, four at Atlanta and then three at home vs Philly. Miles Mikolas starts today for the Cardinals with a 5-5 record in his 15 starts with a 2.57 ERA. Mikolas has allowed two runs or fewer in each of his last four starts. Philly has lost two of their last three games and six of their last 10 games. Bailey Falter makes only his fourth start of the season here tonight. Falter is 0-1 with a 4.26 ERA. The Cardinals do well vs lefties, now 21-7 in their last 28 vs the southpaws. I like Mikolas here today for the Cardinals. Play St Louis. |
06-30-22 | Yankees v. Astros +120 | 1-2 | Win | 120 | 7 h 52 m | Show
The New York Yankees bring a four game win streak into today's game at Houston as the two best AL teams clash. The Yankees are coming off a sweep of the Oakland A's as they play Houston just one time here tonight before heading to Cleveland tomorrow. Luis Severino will get the start tonight for the Yankees. Severino is 4-2 in his 13 starts with a 3.38 ERA. He's been slightly worse on the road where he is 3-2 in his five starts with a 4.61 ERA. The Astros have won two straight games and four of their last five. They just got done with a four game split with the Yankees last week. Luis Garcia will start today with a 5-5 record and 3.55 ERA. Garcia didn't get a start against the Yankees last week. The Astros have done well vs the Yankees, taking 13 of the last 19 games in Houston. I'll take them as a small dog here today. |
06-28-22 | Astros -115 v. Mets | 9-1 | Win | 100 | 6 h 55 m | Show
A Couple of first place teams meet here on Tuesday as the Houston Astros and Mets face off from New York. The Astros are 45-27 and 11-games in front of 2nd place LA Angels. Framber Valdez gets the start today and he's been excellent this season with a 7-3 record in 14 games with a 2.90 ERA. He's been even better on the road with a 4-1 record and 1.95 ERA. The Mets have seen their lead in the NL East shrink to just 5-games over the Atlanta Braves. Carlos Carrasco will start today with a 8-3 record and 4.31 ERA. He's been hit pretty hard of late, allowing 13 runs over his last three starts (13 1/3 innings). The Astros are 8-1 in their last nine road games vs righties. The Astros have also won the last five games in this series. Take Houston today. |
06-27-22 | Rangers -132 v. Royals | Top | 10-4 | Win | 100 | 8 h 4 m | Show |
The Texas Rangers lost two of their three games to the Washington Nationals. The Rangers keep getting close to the .500 mark, but can't quite get there at 34-37. Martin Perez will try and get them a game close tonight. Perez has been one of the best Rangers' pitchers with a 5-2 record in his 14 starts and a 1.96 ERA. He's been even better on the road with a 1-0 record in six starts (all won by the Rangers) and a 1.76 ERA. The Royals are 19 games under the .500 mark at 26-45 on the season. The Royals have lost their last two games to the A's. Kris Bubic will try and get them back in the win column tonight with his 1-4 record over nine starts and a 7.37 ERA. Doesn't look like the odds favor the Royals wit Bubic on the hill. I'll lay the small price on the road with a very good Rangers pitcher in Perez. |
06-26-22 | Mariners +127 v. Angels | 1-2 | Loss | -100 | 5 h 35 m | Show
Seattle Mariners bring a 5-game win streak into today's final game of their series with the LA Angels. They have taken the first two games in this series, 4-3 on Friday and 5-3 on Saturday. Today, Marco Gonzales will look to make it a sweep as he takes to the hill for the M's. Gonzales is 4-7 in his 14 starts with a nice 3.33 ERA. He's allowed two runs or fewer in four of his last five starts and three runs in the other start. The Angels dropped to 34-40 after losing two straight to Seattle. Jose Suarez will make his seventh start of the season for the Halos and is 0-2 with a 5.13 ERA. Not sure why the Angels are such a big favorite here. They play a hot team and their starter isn't as good. I like the value on this Seattle dog today. Play Seattle. |
06-25-22 | Tigers v. Diamondbacks -142 | 6-3 | Loss | -142 | 12 h 47 m | Show
The Detroit Tigers have been slumping recently, despite their win over Arizona on Friday, 5-1. The Tigers are 3-9 in their last 12 games. Alex Faedo will get the start today for Detroit with a 1-4 record in his nine starts and a 4.67 ERA. Faedo has been hit hard in his last two games, allowing 11 runs over his last 7 1/3 innings. Meanwhile, the D'backs will look to break a four game losing skid today. They will turn to Zach Davies who is 2-4 with a 3.96 ERA. Davies has been decent of late, allowing seven runs over his last four starts (26 2/3 innings). I look for the D'backs to break their losing streak today and get back in the WIN column with Davies. Play Arizona. |
06-25-22 | Blue Jays v. Brewers -167 | Top | 4-5 | Win | 100 | 6 h 47 m | Show |
Interleague action here today has the Toronto Blue Jays taking on the Milwaukee Brewers. Toronto took the opening game of this three-game set on Friday, 9-4. Still, the Blue Jays trying to rebound from a 3-5 stretch their last eight games. Toronto is fighting with Boston in the AL East for 2nd place, as both teams tied right now. Yusei Kikuchi will start for the Jays with a 2-3 record in his 13 starts and a 4.94 ERA. Kikuchi hasn't been great in recent starts, but nothing horrible either. He's allowed either three runs or four runs in each of his last four starts. Milwaukee once held a comfortable lead in the NL Central, but now finds itself tied with St Louis for first place at 40-33. The Brewers have lost three of their last four games, including two of three to the Cardinals. Corbin Burnes will toe the rubber today with a 5-4 record but outstanding 2.31 ERA. Burnes has allowed just two runs over his last two starts (13 innings) with 18 KO's and just two walks. Burnes looks to be back into his form from last year and with that I'll take the Brewers here today. |
06-24-22 | Phillies -122 v. Padres | 0-1 | Loss | -122 | 9 h 46 m | Show
The Philadelphia Phillies opened their four game set with the Padres by winning on Thursday, 6-2. That snapped a Phillies three-game losing streak. The Phillies will have Aaron Nola on the hill tonight with a 4-4 record in his 14 starts and a 3.11 ERA. He's been even better on the road with a 2-3 record in seven starts and a 2.25 ERA. Nola has allowed just two total runs over his last three starts (22 Innings). The San Diego Padres are 1/2 game back of the Dodgers in the NL West. Mackenzie Gore will start for the Padres tonight. Gore is 4-3 in his 10 starts with a 3.86 ERA. Gore has been hard in his last two starts, allowing 14 runs and 14 hits over his last 6 2/3 innings. I'll take the road team here tonight. Play Philadelphia. |
06-24-22 | Red Sox -118 v. Guardians | 6-3 | Win | 100 | 6 h 16 m | Show
The Boston Red Sox look for their fifth straight win as they had to Cleveland tonight for a three-game series. The Red Sox are still way back of the Yankees in the AL East. However, they are just a half game from second place. Nick Pivetta will start today for the Sox with a 7-5 mark in his 14 starts and a 3.31 ERA. He's pitched well of late, allowing two total runs in three of those four starts. The Cleveland Guardians are have closed to within three-games of first place Minnesota. Cal Quantrill will start today for the Guardians. Quantrill is 4-4 in his 12 starts with a 3.77 ERA. Quantrill got hit hard last start, allowing five runs and 10 hits over five innings. I'll take the Red Sox here today. |
06-23-22 | Phillies v. Padres -145 | Top | 6-2 | Loss | -145 | 11 h 48 m | Show |
The Philadelphia Phillies open their series tonight with the Padres after losing three straight games. They were also outscored in those games, 5-20. The Phils are now just two games above the .500 mark at 36-34, 8.5-games back of the Mets. Ranger Suarez will start today for the Phillies. Suaraz is 5-4 in his 13 starts with a 4.43 ERA. The Padres remained two-games in first in the NL West after winning three games in a row. The Padres Ace so far will get the start tonight in Joe Musgrove. Musgrove is 8-0 in his 12 starts with a 1.59 ERA. He has allowed just two runs over his last three starts (21 innings). In fact, in all 12 starts this year Musgrove has allowed two runs or fewer. Another great spot for Musgrove to work toward that NL Cy Young tonight. Play The Padres. |
06-22-22 | Tigers v. Red Sox -126 | 2-6 | Win | 100 | 8 h 55 m | Show
The Detroit Tigers look to snap their two-game losing streak here today against the Red Sox. The Sox took game one by a 5-2 mark and game two by a 5-4 mark. The Tigers have lost eight of the last 10 games. Tarik Skubal will toe the rubber today for Detroit with a 5-4 record in his 13 starts and a 2.89 ERA. Skubal has been hit pretty hard his last two outings, giving up nine runs over nine innings and losing both games as the Tigers got zero total runs of support for him. Boston continues to move up in the AL East. What once looked like a disaster has now turned into a 38-31 season as they sit in second place in the division, a 1/2 game ahead of Tampa Bay Rays. The Sox have won three straight games and seven of their last nine games. Michael Wacha will start today for the Sox. Wacha is 5-1 in his 11 starts with a 2.28 ERA. He's been even better at home with a 2-1 record in five starts and a 1.03 ERA. I'll take Boston today as they continue to improve on the season. |
06-22-22 | Blue Jays -110 v. White Sox | Top | 9-5 | Win | 100 | 4 h 54 m | Show |
The Toronto Blue Jays look to salvage game three of this series finale with the White Sox here today. The Jays have lost the first two games, each by a run, 7-8 on Monday and 6-7 on Tuesday. Ross Stripling will look to change that here today. Stripling is 2-2 in his eight starts with a 3.03 ERA. He's been excellent of late, allowing just two runs over his last three starts (14 2/3 innings). The White Sox and Guardians both making moves in the AL Central on what looked like a Twins runaway. The Sox are at .500 with a 33-33 record after winning six of their last eight games. Lucas Giolito will start today with a 4-3 record in his 11 starts and a 4.78 ERA. Giolito got roughed-up in his last start, allowing seven hits and eight runs over five innings of work. That makes 14 runs allowed over his last three starts (16 innings). I'll take the Jays here today as I look for them to avoid the sweep. |
06-20-22 | Cardinals +158 v. Brewers | 0-2 | Loss | -100 | 9 h 21 m | Show
The St Louis Cardinals have caught the Milwaukee Brewers in the NL Central as both teams now 38-30. They begin a pivotal four-game set here today in Milwaukee. St Louis will send Miles Mikolas to the hill today. Mikolas is 5-4 in his 13 starts with a 2.62 ERA. He's coming off an excellent start against Pittsburgh, allowing one hit over 8 2/3 innings with no earned runs and just one walk and six KO's. Milwaukee is fresh off their sweep of Cincinnati. They will send Corbin Burnes to the mound today. While Burnes record is just 4-4, he has pitched well overall with a 2.52 ERA. Occasionally this season, Burnes will have some bad outings like he did on June 3 vs the Padres where he allowed five runs over 3 2/3 innings. Both these pitchers have the ability to go out and shut out the other team. However, getting the Cardinals at this nice dog price is too much for me to pass on today. Play St Louis. |
06-20-22 | Yankees v. Rays +118 | Top | 4-2 | Loss | -100 | 9 h 8 m | Show |
The NY Yankees finally had their winning streak snapped at nine games in the last 10 and 16 of the last 17 with a loss to Toronto on Sunday, 9-10. Now the Yankees head to Tampa Bay to face the Rays. Gerrit Cole gets the start today for the Yankees with a 6-1 record in his 13 starts. Cole has a 3.33 ERA and is coming off a five hit, no run outing vs the Rays on June 14th where he got the win, 2-0. Cole has not been consistent though, he's had two of his last three games where he allowed no runs but in between he gave up seven runs to the Twins. Tampa Bay lost two of their three games at Baltimore over the weekend. They are now 1-5 in their last six games and 2-7 in their last nine games. Shane McClanahan has been their best starter with a 7-3 record in his 13 starts and a 1.84 ERA. He has allowed two runs or fewer in eight straight starts. He also has excellent control with just eight walks over his last eight starts. This is one pitcher who should be able to keep the big hitting Yankees in check. I'll take a shot with the live home dog and better pitcher. Take Tampa Bay. |
06-19-22 | Angels v. Mariners -156 | Top | 4-0 | Loss | -156 | 6 h 8 m | Show |
The LA Angels have taken three of the first four games in this series with the Mariners after Saturday's win. 3-0. The Angels are still 8.5 games back of the Astros in the NL West. The Angels will call up Kenny Rosenberg today to get his first start of the season in the majors. He has made one bullpen appearance this year with the Angels. In his five starts at Triple-A Salt Lake, he has a 1.73 ERA. Seattle has two straight games and four of their last five games. The M's best pitcher, Logan Gilbert, gets the start today. Gilbert is 7-2 in his 13 starts with a 2.34 ERA. Gilbert has a big edge for the M's on the hill today. I'll lay the steep price with Seattle and Gilbert. |

06-19-22 | Royals -140 v. A's | 0-4 | Loss | -140 | 6 h 4 m | Show
The Royals looking for the sweep here in Oakland today. KC took the first two games of this series, holding the A's to just one total run. Brady Singer will start today for the Royals with a 3-1 record in his six start and a 3.89 ERA. He has pitched very well in five of his six starts, allowing three runs or fewer. It's just the one start on June 3 vs the Astros where he gave up seven runs over five innings that has hurt his ERA. The Oakland A's continue to flounder, losing their 2nd game in row last night and their 15th loss in their last 17 games. Jared Koenig makes his third start of the season today for Oakland. Koenig is 0-2 with a 11.25 ERA and has yet to go past four innings in either start. He has also allowed four walks against six KO's. Looks like KC will get the sweep here today as Koenig has yet to look very good. Take Kansas City. |

06-19-22 | Rays -134 v. Orioles | 1-2 | Loss | -134 | 4 h 33 m | Show
The Tampa Bay Rays snapped a four game losing streak on Friday with their win over Baltimore, 7-6. The Rays are dropping fast in the AL East, now 13-games back of the Yankees and 2-games back of 2nd place Toronto. Corey Kluber will get the start for the Rays. Kluber is 3-3 in his 12 starts with a 3.50 ERA. He's pitched very well of late, allowing three runs or fewer in each of his last six starts. The Orioles won't be going anywhere this year, but they have played better of late. The O's have won five of their last eight games. Jordan Lyles will start today with a 4-5 record in his 13 starts and a 5.10 ERA. Lyles has been hit pretty hard of late, allowing 14 runs over his last 15 1/3 innings of work. I'll take Tampa Bay here today. |

06-15-22 | Rays +130 v. Yankees | 3-4 | Loss | -100 | 9 h 47 m | Show
The Tampa Bay Rays can make up some ground in the AL East over the 1st place Yankees as they begin a 3-game series here tonight in New York. The Rays are 35-26, but still trail NY by 10-games. They also have to think about Wild Card too at this point and they trail 2nd place Toronto by just 1-game. The Rays most successful pitcher will go today in Shane McClanahan who is 7-2 in his 12 starts with a nifty 1.87 ERA. He's been even better on the road with a 2-1 record in his three starts and a 1.47 ERA. McClanahan has won five straight starts! The Yankees bring a 5-game win streak into tonight's contest. New York will start Nestor Cortes who is 5-2 in his 11 starts with a 1.96 ERA. Cortes had one of his worst starts last time out, allowing seven hits and four runs over 4 1/3 innings to the Twins in a loss. Good live dog here today with the Rays who should be motivated to get this win with their best on the hill Play Tampa Bay. |

06-14-22 | Padres -128 v. Cubs | 12-5 | Win | 100 | 10 h 58 m | Show
The Padres have pulled back to a tied in 1st place in the NL West with the LA Dodgers. The Padres have won seven of their last 10 while the Dodgers are just 4-6 during the same span. The Padres still boast the best road record in baseball with a 21-11 mark. Sean Manaea will toe the rubber today for the Padres with a 3-3 record in his 11 starts and a 3.52 ERA. Manaea has been very good of late, allowing just two total runs over his last two starts (13 innings). The Cubs have been in free fall, losing seven straight games to drop to 23-37 on the season. Kyle Hendricks will start today for the Cubs with a 2-5 record in his 11 starts and a 5.22 ERA. Hendricks not having near the kind of season we are used to seeing from him in recent years. I'll be on the Padres today again. |

06-14-22 | Marlins v. Phillies -141 | Top | 11-9 | Loss | -141 | 9 h 58 m | Show |
The Miami Marlins look to snap a recent 2-game losing streak here today in game two of their set with the Phillies. They lost on Monday with their best pitcher on the mound, 2-3. Now they will send Trevor Rogers to the hill today. Rogers is 3-5 in his 11 starts with a 5.58 ERA. He's allowed seven earned runs over his last 8 2/3 innings of work. The Philadelphia Phillies finally got back over the .500 mark as they have won as they have won 10 of their last 11 games. Zach Eflin is just 2-4 with a 4.09 ERA but has won his last two starts with just one earned run allowed over 12 innings. Eflin has been very good at home too, going 2-1 in his five starts with a 1.16 ERA. I'll take the hot Phils today with a equally hot Eflin on the hill. |

06-13-22 | Marlins +120 v. Phillies | 2-3 | Loss | -100 | 8 h 55 m | Show
The Miami Marlins had their five game win streak snapped on Sunday by the Houston Astros, 9-4. The Marlins have improved to 27-31 in the NL East, still way behind the NY Mets. One of, it not the best, pitcher for the Marlins goes today in Sandy Alcantara. Alcantara is 6-2 in his 12 starts this year with a very good 1.61 ERA and 0.944 WHIP. Alcantara has not allowed a run over his last two starts (16 innings) and just three runs over his last six starts. The Phillies dropped back to the .500 mark with a loss on Sunday. They are still 9-games back of the Mets in the NL East. That loss on Sunday snapped a nine-game win streak for the Phillies. Aaron Nola will start today with a 4-4 record in his 12 starts and a 3.50 ERA. Nola rebounded from a poor 5-run performance vs the Giants with a nice eight inning, no runs outing vs the Brewers last start. I like Alcantara, he's very consistent and very good. Play Miami. |

06-12-22 | Rays -113 v. Twins | Top | 6-0 | Win | 100 | 5 h 3 m | Show |
The Tampa Bay Rays have lost the first two games of this series with the Twins, 4-9 on Friday and 5-6 on Sunday. That drops them to 34-25 overall and a 1/2 game back of the Blue Jays for 2nd in the AL East. Before the two losses, the Rays had won six of the previous eight games. Jeffrey Springs will get the start today with a 1-2 record in his seven starts. Springs has a very nifty 2.12 ERA and 1.000 WHIP. He's allowed two runs or fewer in each of his last six starts since his opening start of three runs. Minnesota will look to Cole Sands to help them take the sweep here today. That might be a tough task though since Sands only has two starts and neither was any good. He allowed four runs over four innings to the Tigers and four runs over 3 2/3 innings to the Yankees for a 9.39 ERA. In addition, his WHIP is a very high 2.477. Tampa Bay is too good with too good of a pitcher today to get swept. Take Tampa Bay. |

06-12-22 | Blue Jays v. Tigers +124 | 6-0 | Loss | -100 | 5 h 33 m | Show
The Toronto Blue Jays are 10-games above the .500 mark at 34-24, however they still trail the NY Yankees in the AL East by 8.5 games. They will need a winning streak if they hope to get back close to the Yankees by the All-Star break. They have split the first two games with the Tigers, taking game one, 10-1, and then losing last night 1-3. Ross Stripling will get the start today for the Jays. Stripling is 1-1 in his six starts with a 3.46 ERA. Stripling has been good, but aslo has hit some rough patches. While the Tigers are 10-games under .500 with a 24-34 record, they might be one of the scrappiest teams in baseball. They have won three of their last four games including last night's win. They have their best pitcher on the mound here today in Tarik Skubal. Skubal is 5-2 in his 11 starts with a 2.06 ERA. The team is 4-1 in his five home starts with a 2.10 ERA. Skubal is going to have his team in the game and a s decent dog price here today, the Tigers are too much to pass on. Play Detroit. |

06-11-22 | Red Sox +117 v. Mariners | 6-7 | Loss | -100 | 10 h 20 m | Show
The Boston Red Sox had their seven game win streak snapped by the Angels on Thursday, 2-5. They came right back on Friday with a win in game one of this series with the Mariners, 4-3. Michael Wacha will start today for the Sox with a 4-1 record in his nine starts and a nifty 1.99 ERA. Wacha has not allowed a run over his last two starts (14 2/3 innings) with nine KO's and just one walk. The dropped to 26-32 with last night's loss to Boston. George Kirby will look to get back to winning ways today. Kirby is 1-1 in his six starts with a 3.38 ERA. I like the way Wacha has pitched over his last few games and I will take the visiting Boston club tonight. |

06-11-22 | Mets -122 v. Angels | Top | 6-11 | Loss | -122 | 20 h 39 m | Show |
The LA Angels snapped their 14-game losing streak by finally beating the Boston Red Sox in the final game of their set on Thursday, 5-2. That win streak was short lived though, as the Angels dropped game one of their series with the Mets on Friday, 7-3. Meanwhile, the Mets have a comfortable lead in the NL East at 39-21 and a 6.5-game lead over 2nd place Atlanta. The Mets will start Carlos Carrasco today who has been very good for the Mets. Carrasco is 7-1 in his 11 games for the Mets with a 3.37 ERA. The Angels will start Michael Lorenzen who is 5-3 in his nine starts and has a 3.69 ERA. Lorenzen has been roughed-up a bit of late, allowing eight runs over his last two starts (13 2/3 innings). I'm sticking with one of the best teams in the NL in the Mets here today against a slumping Angels team. Play New York. |

06-11-22 | A's v. Guardians -109 | 10-5 | Loss | -109 | 14 h 42 m | Show
The Oakland A's slide continues as questions surrounding their move to Las Vegas might gain momentum with attendance below that of even minor league teams. The A's lost to the Guardians on Friday, 2-3, making it 10-straight losses. Frankie Montas will try and get the team back in the win column today. Montas is 2-6 in his 12 starts with a 2.93 ERA. Montas hasn't been quite as good on the road where he is 1-2 in three starts with a 4.15 ERA. The Cleveland Guardians have won three straight games. They have also won nine of their last 11 games. Zach Plesac will start today for the Guardians. Plesac is 2-4 in his 10 starts with a 4.72 ERA. He's been better at home with a 3.10 ERA in his five starts. Even though Montas is the better pitcher, I will stay with Cleveland here today. |
