06-02-22 | Cardinals v. Cubs -102 | 5-7 | Win | 100 | 9 h 35 m | Show
A rivalry continues with a five-game set between the St Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs. They will play a doubleheader on Saturday. The Cardinals are in 2nd place in the NL Central with a 29-21 record. The Cubs are in fourth with a 21-29 record. The Cardinals will start Matthew Liberatore today, making his third start of the season. Liberatore had a rough first start, allowing seven hits and four runs to the Pirates. However, he followed that with a very good start vs the Brewers, allowing just two hits and no runs over five innings for his first win. The Cubs have won two straight games, as they split their four-game series with the Brewers. Keegan Thompson will start today for the Cubs. Thompson is 2-0 in his three starts with a 1.93 ERA. He's allowed just one run over his last two starts (10 innings) with just one walk and nine KO's. I like Thompson and the Cubs to take game one of this rivalry with the Cardinals. |

06-02-22 | Angels v. Yankees -145 | 1-2 | Win | 100 | 8 h 33 m | Show
Game 2 of the Doubleheader between the Angels and Yankees. The Angels have dropped fast in the AL West after losing six straight games. They now trail 1st place Houston by 5.5-games. Reid Detmers will go in game two here today. Detmers is 2-2 with a 4.65 ERA. He's been worse on the road with a 8.48 ERA in his three away starts. The Yankees are in 1st in the AL East, 5.5-games ahead of the Tampa Bay Rays. The Yankees will start Jameson Taillon today. Taillon is 5-1 in his nine starts with a 2.49 ERA. Tallion has allowed just one run over his last two starts (15 innings). I'll take the Yankees in game 2 here today. |
05-31-22 | Rays v. Rangers -110 | 0-3 | Win | 100 | 8 h 58 m | Show
The Tampa Bay Rays are 28-20 in the AL East and trail the first place Yankees by 5-games. They are coming off a loss to the Rangers in game one of this series on Monday, 5-9. This after taking two of three from the Yankees in the weekend series. Ryan Yarbrough will start today for the Rays with a 0-1 record in his four starts and a 4.41 ERA. Yarbrough has yet to have a quality start in any of his four outings. The Rangers can get to .500 with a win tonight over the Rays. That would still keep them in 3rd in the AL West, 7-games back of division leading Houston. The Rangers have won five of their last six games. Martin Perez will start today for the Rangers with a 3-2 record in his nine starts and a very good 1.60 ERA. Perez has allowed either one or no runs in each of his last seven starts. I'll take the Rangers and a very good Perez here tonight. |
05-31-22 | Brewers -124 v. Cubs | 7-8 | Loss | -124 | 8 h 57 m | Show
Rivalry game here today between the Brewers and Cubs. Brewers have taken the first two games of this series with the Cubs, 7-6 in game one and 3-1 in game two in Sunday's doubleheader. Eric Lauer starts here today for the Brewers with a 5-1 record in his eight starts. Lauier has a very good 2.31 ERA this season and allowed over two runs just once in his last seven starts. The Cubs have lost three in a row, including that doubleheader to the Brewers on Sunday. They have also lost five of their last six games. Justin Steele starts today for the Cubs with a 1-5 record in his nine starts and a 5.40 ERA. Steele coming off his worst start of the season where he allowed seven runs over just two innings of work against Cincinnati. I'm taking the Brewers today with the much better starter on the hill. |
05-31-22 | Reds v. Red Sox -132 | 2-1 | Loss | -132 | 7 h 3 m | Show
The NL's Cincinnati Reds travel to Boston today to take on the AL's Reds Sox. Both teams have struggled this year but the Reds have gone through some long losing streaks. The Reds are in last in the NL Central with a 16-31 record. They did win four in a row before losing Sunday's game to the Giants, 4-6. The bullpen has not been very good, especially of late where they have a 5.00 ERA. Luis Castillo starts today for the Reds with a 1-2 record in his four starts with a 4.35 ERA. The Boston Red Sox have struggled most of the season and are within three wins of the .500 mark at 23-26. Michael Wacha will start today for the Sox. Wacha is 3-0 in his seven starts with a 2.83 ERA. He's been even better at home with a 1-0 record in three starts and a 1.17 ERA. I'm going to take the home Red Sox with Wacha today. |
05-30-22 | Braves v. Diamondbacks +109 | 2-6 | Win | 109 | 9 h 29 m | Show
The Atlanta Braves just can't seem to get back to that .500 mark yet. They are close at 23-25 after Sunday's win over Miami, 6-3. They did take two of three from the Marlins so that inched them closer. The Braves will be sending Spencer Strider to the hill today. Strider will be making his first career MLB start. Strider has excelled in the bullpen this year with a 2.22 ERA and 1.03 WHIP with 37 KO's and just 11 Walks. Arizona just got swept at home by the LA Dodgers. That four game losing streak after a stretch that saw t the team go 5-1 the previous six games. Zac Gallen gets the start today. Gallen having a fine season with a 3-0 record in his eight starts and a 2.22 ERA. Gallen is coming off his worst start of the season, allowing seven hits and six runs over 5 1/3 innings to the Royals. I look for Gallen to rebound here today and the D'backs to win this game. |
05-30-22 | Rays -135 v. Rangers | 5-9 | Loss | -135 | 9 h 23 m | Show
Tampa Bay chasing the Yankees in the AL East, now 4.5-games back with a 28-19 record. The Rays took two of three games from the Yankees in their set which ended yesterday. Their pitching held the hard hitting Bronx Bombers to just five runs total over the three-game set. Drew Rasmussen starts for the Rays today with a 5-1 record and 2.68 ERA. Rasmussen allowed three runs in his last start, a win over Miami. However, that was the mot runs he's allowed in a start in his previous six starts. Texas had their four game win streak snapped on Sunday by the A's, 5-6. They are now 22-24 but still 7-games back of 1st place Houston. Glenn Otto will start today for the Rangers with a 2-2 record and 4.91 ERA in his six starts. He's been much worse at home in his two starts with a 0-1 record and 10.80 ERA. I like the Rays here today with Rasmussen on the hill. |
05-28-22 | Marlins +108 v. Braves | Top | 4-1 | Win | 108 | 5 h 25 m | Show |
The Miami Marlins look to snap a 3-game losing streak here today at Atlanta. They were swept by their in-state rivals, Tampa Bay. Sandy Alcantara is the only starter to win a game over the teams last seven outings. He beat these Braves on April 22, 4-3, going nine full innings and allowing no earned runs. Alcantara is 4-2 overall in his nine starts with a nifty 2.11 ERA. The defending champion Braves still trying to get back to the .500 mark at 22-24. They beat Miami in game one of this series on Friday 6-4. Tucker Davidson will start today for the Braves. Davidson is 1-1 in his two starts with a 5.87 ERA. He lasted only 2 2/3 innings in his last start against Philly, allowing four hits and five runs. I'll take the Marlins today with their best pitcher on the hill. |
05-27-22 | Dodgers v. Diamondbacks +137 | 6-4 | Loss | -100 | 10 h 45 m | Show
The LA Dodgers got their 30th win of the season last night with a win over Arizona in the opening game of this set with the D'backs, 14-1. The Dodgers have been dominating both with the bats and on the mound. They lead the NL West by two-games over the Padres. Ryan Pepiot will make his third start of the season here today. Pepiot has no record yet with a 3.86 ERA. He is coming off a start vs their D'backs where he allowed two hits and three runs over his four innings of work for a no decision. Arizona looks to stay above the .500 mark today with a win over the Dodgers. The 23-23 D'backs have won five of their last seven games. Veteran Madison Bumgarner will start today. Bumgarner is 2-2 in his nine starts with a 2.76 ERA. He's been even better at home with a 1.86 ERA in his four starts. Bumgarner should keep the D'backs close here tonight and for me that makes them a live dog. Play Arizona. |
05-26-22 | Dodgers v. Diamondbacks +167 | 14-1 | Loss | -100 | 20 h 0 m | Show
After scoring 19 runs in their first two games at Washington, the Dodgers hit a wall in Wednesday's game three. They scored no runs in a 0-1 loss. That makes LA 29-14 and the Padres remain 1.5-games back with their loss on Wednesday to the Brewers, 1-2. LA now heads all the way back to the West to take on the Diamondbacks in Phoenix. Mike White makes just his second start of the season here tonight. White went just 2 1/3 innings in hi first start vs the Phillies, allowing three hits and three runs. Arizona had Wednesday off after taking two games from Kansas City and also winning five of their last six games. Humberto Castellanos will start for the D'back with a 3-1 record and 4.13 ERA. He's been good, not great, allowing seven runs over his last three starts (16 innings). Dodgers a huge 1.80 favorite here with a very sketchy White on the mound. I like dogs who show value and the D'backs have lots of value tonight. Play Arizona. |
05-25-22 | A's +157 v. Mariners | 4-2 | Win | 157 | 4 h 30 m | Show
The Oakland A's snapped a 3-game losing streak last night with their big dog win over the Mariners, 7-5. That was just their win over their last 10 games. Paul Blackburn will start tonight for the A's and he's been their best pitcher with a 4-0 record in his eight starts. Blackburn has a 1.91 ERA and 0.992 WHIP this year. He's been even better in his five road starts with a 1.37 ERA and the team has won all five of his away starts. The Mariners have also fallen on hard times, losing five of their last six games and dropping to 18-26 in the AL West, just a half game ahead of the A's for last place. Robbie Ray will start today with a 4-4 record in his nine starts and a 4.77 ERA. I'm a little taken aback by the +157 dog price on the A's considering these teams are very equal and the A's have a very good road pitcher in Blackburn on the hill. Lots of value here today with this dog. Play Oakland. |
05-25-22 | Brewers v. Padres -132 | 2-1 | Loss | -132 | 4 h 29 m | Show
Two of the best NL teams meet today as the NL Central leading Milwaukee Brewers take on the NL West 2nd place San Diego Padres. The Brewers are 27-16 overall and lead 2nd place St Louis by 3-games. Aaron Ashby gets his fourth start of the season today. Ashby is 0-1 with a 4.61 ERA. He's coming off a road game at Atlanta where he allowed six hits and six runs in four innings. The Padres have been one of the best road teams in baseball this year, but have struggled at times at home. They won game one vs the Brewers and then lost last night, 1-4. That loss did snap a five-game win streak for the Padres. Yu Darvish gets the start today with a 4-1 record in his eight starts. Darvish has a 3.91 ERA and a 1.37 ERA at home in his three starts. Darvish has been one of the better Padre pitchers and I'll take him tonight. Play San Diego. |
05-23-22 | Blue Jays v. Cardinals -112 | 3-7 | Win | 100 | 5 h 25 m | Show
The Toronto Blue Jays won two of their three over the Reds, losing the last game on Sunday, 2-3. The Jays haven't scored more than three runs in any of their last five games. Joe Berrios gets the start today. Berrios is 3-2 in his eight starts this year, with a 4.83 ERA and 1.488 WHIP. St Louis improved to 23-18 after winning three straight games over the Pirates. They outscored Pittsburgh 28-11 in that set. Miles Mikolas will start today with a 3-2 record and 1.68 ERA. Mikolas hasn't allowed more than two runs in any of his eight starts this year. I like the Cards here tonight. Play St Louis. |
05-21-22 | A's +134 v. Angels | 3-5 | Loss | -100 | 9 h 30 m | Show
The Oakland A's took game one of this series with the Angels on Friday night, 4-2. That improved the A's to 17-24. The A's will turn to Frankie Montas here tonight. Montas is only 2-4 on the season, but still has a nice 3.67 ERA and 1.000 WHIP. Montas pitched very well in his last game, but took the loss to these Angels, 1-4. That loss came despite going six solid innings and allowing two runs and 12 KO's. The Angels have dropped out of 1st place in the AL West thanks to a four-game losing streak. The Houston Astros have taken over the division lead, 1.5 games ahead of the A's. The Angels will start Michael Lorenzen here today. Lorenzen is 5-2 in his six starts with a 3.57 ERA. Both pitchers are about even tonight, but with the Angels in the midst of a losing streak I'll take the live dog here in Oakland. |
05-21-22 | Padres +141 v. Giants | 2-1 | Win | 141 | 4 h 27 m | Show
The San Diego Padres look to extend their two game win streak here today at San Francisco. These two NL West titans are battling it out and the Padres took game one of this series on Friday, 8-7. The Padres have been the best road team in the NL this year at 15-7 away. The Padres will send Joe Musgrove to the hill today. Musgrove is 4-0 in his seven starts with a 2.20 ERA and 0.933 WHIP. Musgrove has not allowed more than two runs in any of his seven starts this year. The Giants dropped to third place in the division with two losses in a row. Carlos Rondon will start today with a 4-2 record in his seven starts and a 3.49 ERA. Rondon coming off his worst start of the year where he allowed 10 hits and eight runs over 3 2/3 innings to the Cardinals. Padres a very live dog here today on the road where they have flourished and with the better pitcher. Play San Diego. |
05-20-22 | Rangers +160 v. Astros | 3-0 | Win | 160 | 7 h 47 m | Show
The Rangers and Astros begin another Lone Star State battle here tonight from Houston. The Rangers are 17-20 and had their four-game win streak snapped by the Astros yesterday, 1-5. Martin Perez starts tonight with a 2-2 record and very nice 2.02 ERA. Perez has started two road games and has yet to allow an earned run. Perez has also not allowed more than one earned run in any of his last four starts. The Astros improved to 25-14 with their win last night and moved into 1st place in the AL West. Cristian Javier starts tonight with a 2-1 record in his three starts. He has a 5.79 ERA and 1.500 WHIP. The Rangers are pretty nice dogs here tonight and are a great value shot with Perez on the mound. I'll take that shot. Play Texas. |
05-18-22 | Astros -133 v. Red Sox | 1-5 | Loss | -133 | 7 h 26 m | Show
The Astros and Red Sox have split their three game series thus far with Boston taking game one on Monday and the Astros taking last night's contest, 13-4. The Astros are just a game back of the Angels in the AL West in that two team division battle. Luis Garcia will start today for Houston with a 3-1 record in his six starts and a 2.94 ERA. He's been even better on the road with a 1.20 ERA in his three away outings. Garcia has also allowed just one run over his last 12 innings of work, winning both games with just four walks and 18 KO's. Meanwhile, the Red Sox are in last place in the AL East. The Sox will turn to Nick Pivetta today who has had his problems with year. Pivetta is 1-4 in seven starts with a 5.08 ERA. He's been even worse at Fenway where he is 0-3 with a 6.75 ERA. I'm taking the Astros here today. |
05-16-22 | Diamondbacks +212 v. Dodgers | 4-5 | Loss | -100 | 12 h 46 m | Show
The LA Dodgers snapped a four-game losing streak and salvaged the final game of their series with a win over the Phillies on Sunday, 5-4. The Dodgers pitching staff has been hit hard in recent games, allowing 33 runs over their last four games. Tony Gonsolin will get the start here today for the Dodgers. Gonsolin is 3-0 in his six starts with a 1.33 ERA. The Arizona Diamondbacks are 18-17 on the season and having a much better season than most had anticipated. The D'backs did lose two of their three games to the Cubs, including the last two games. All three games with the Cubs were decided by one run. Madison Bumgarner will start today for Arizona. Bumgarner has pitched very well this year with a 2-1 record and 1.78 ERA. He has not allowed more two runs in any of his seven starts. In fact, he has allowed one run or no runs in six of those starts. At this huge dog price today, I'll take a shot with a very good pitcher on the hill for Arizona. |
05-15-22 | Red Sox v. Rangers -110 | 1-7 | Win | 100 | 4 h 49 m | Show
The Boston Red Sox look for the sweep here today in Texas. The Sox took game one and game two of this series by a combined 18-4 score. Lefty Austin Davis will get the start today for the Sox. Don't expect Davis to be more than in the role of an opener here today as he's not expected to last much past the 1st inning. Texas looks to salvage the rubber game here today with Martin Perez on the hill. Perez is 1-2 on the season with a 2.10 ERA. Perez has only allowed two earned runs over his last four starts (26 2/3 innings). With the Sox going with an opener that means they will rely on a bullpen that has been mediocre at best this year. I'll take the Rangers here today. |
05-13-22 | Blue Jays v. Rays +115 | 2-5 | Win | 115 | 5 h 53 m | Show
The Toronto Blue Jays look to snap a four-game losing streak here at Tampa Bay tonight. The Jays lost two to the Yankees and three of four to the Guardians. They have now lost five of their last six overall games. Yet, tonight they are the favorite at Tampa Bay. Kevin Gausman will start tonight and he's been very good, posting a 3-1 record in six starts with just a 2.13 ERA. Tampa Bay snapped a three-game losing steak last on Wednesday at the Angels. Even with those three losses, they have won seven of their last 10 games. Drew Rasmussen will start today. He's 3-1 in his starts with a 2.89 ERA. I consider both of these starters pretty equal and with that I'll take the hotter team here today. Play Tampa Bay. |
05-11-22 | Rockies +190 v. Giants | 1-7 | Loss | -100 | 5 h 52 m | Show
The 16-14 Colorado Rockies look to snap a three-game losing streak today at San Francisco. The Rockies also look to salvage the last game of this set with the Giants after losing the first two games. They lost game one 5-8 and last night 2-9. Chad Kuhl is one of their best pitchers with a 3-0 mark and 1.82 ERA. He's been better on the road with a 1-0 record in three starts and 1.65 ERA. The Giants are 18-12 on the season and have won four straight games. This following on the heals of a 5-game losing streak. Alex Cobb starts for the Giants with a 1-1 record and 4.80 ERA in his four starts. Cobb not one of the best Giants pitchers and that means with Kuhl on the hill for the Rocks we have a live dog spot. Play Colorado. |
05-11-22 | Marlins v. Diamondbacks -105 | 11-3 | Loss | -105 | 5 h 48 m | Show
The Miami Marlins struggling to get back to the .500 mark as they sit at 13-17 on the season. The Marlins lost for the third straight game last night at Arizona, 3-9. They look to salvage one game here today in this series. They have lost nine of their last 10 games. Sandy Alcantara gets the nod today with a 2-2 record in his six starts. Alcantara has a 3.03 ERA and 1.318 WHIP. He has struggled a bit of late, allowing seven earned runs over his lastt 10 2/3 innings of work. Despite playing in arguably the best division in baseball, the NL West, the D'backs have held their own going 17-14. They won for the third time in a row last night and the 7th time in their last eight games. Merrill Kelly has been excellent for the D'backs. He has a 3-1 record in his six starts with a 1.22 ERA. Moreover, Kelly has allowed just one run over his lat 15 2/3 innings with 12 walks and just two KO's. I'm taking the hot D'backs here today. |
05-11-22 | Phillies v. Mariners -141 | 4-2 | Loss | -141 | 5 h 47 m | Show
IL action here on Wednesday has the Phillies taking on Seattle. This is the final game of this three-game set with the teams splitting the first two games. Philly won the opener 9-0 before losing yesterday's contest, 4-5. The Phils will call up Bailey Falter to start game three here today. This is because two of the team's starters are currently on the Covid list. Falter was a long reliever when he started the season, but he won't be able to go much past 60 pitches today. Seattle looks to turn its recent fortunes around. The Mariners have won two of their last three games, but lost 12 of their last 14. Logan Gilbert will start his seven game and is one of the best for the M's. He's 4-0 this season with a 1.64 ERA and 1.081 WHIP. The team is 5-1 in his starts also. I'll take the Mariners with a very good starter vs the Phils with an unknown starter. Play Seattle. |
05-10-22 | Marlins v. Diamondbacks +122 | 3-9 | Win | 122 | 10 h 31 m | Show
The Miami Marlins have lost two straight games as they sit at 13-16 overall. In addition, they have lost eight of their last nine games. Jesus Luzardo will start today with a 2-2 record in his five games. He has a 3.08 ERA and 1.063 WHIP. The Diamondbacks are 16-14 after winning two straight games and six of their last seven. Veteran hurley Madison Bumgarner gets the start today. Bumgarner is 1-1 in his six starts with a nifty 1.50 ERA and 1.125 WHIP. Bumgarner is yet to allow more than one earned run in any of his six starts this season. Difficult to believe that the D'backs are home dog with Bumgarner on the hill. That's ok, we'll take it. |
05-07-22 | Blue Jays v. Guardians +124 | 2-8 | Win | 124 | 7 h 11 m | Show
Game 2 : The Toronto Blue Jays lost the opener of this series with the Guardians on Friday, 5-6. That makes them 2-3 over their last five games. Kevin Gausman will start today for the Jays. Guasman is 2-1 in his five starts with a 2.27 ERA and 0.979 WHIP. The Cleveland Guardians can get back to .500 with a win today. The Guardians have won two straight games including last night's opener with the Jays, 6-5. That makes them 5-1 over their last six games. Triston McKenzie starts game 2 here for the Guardians. McKenzie is 1-1 in his four starts with a 2.21 ERA and 0.984 WHIP. He is coming off his best start, 6 1/3 innings vs the A's where he allowed just four hits, no runs and 7 KO's. I'll take the Guardians here in game two of their doubleheader on Saturday. |
05-06-22 | Rays v. Mariners -124 | 8-7 | Loss | -124 | 11 h 59 m | Show
The Tampa Bay Rays have improved to 16-10 after winning four straight games, including last night's opening game with the Mariners, 4-3. The Rays moved into 2nd place in the AL East with the win. Matt Wisler gets the call to the mound today for the Rays. Wisler is one of those pitchers the Rays use as a starter but will only go an inning or two. In his two starts he's gone 1 2/3 and 2 innings with out giving up any runs. The Mariners have dropped to 12-14 after losing four in a row. Moreover, they have lost eight of their last nine games. Logan Gilbert will toe the rubber for the M's today. Gilbert has been one of the best pitchers in baseball this year with a 4-0 record in five starts and a 0.64 ERA and 0.928 WHIP. Gilbert has not allowed more than one run in any of his five starts. I look for Gilbert to get the Mariner's back to winning here tonight. Play Seattle. |
05-06-22 | Brewers +102 v. Braves | 6-3 | Win | 102 | 8 h 41 m | Show
The Milwaukee Brewers are fast becoming one of the best teams in baseball with a 18-8 record. The Brewers have won three straight and eight of their last nine games. The only team close in the NL Central is St Louis, which is 2.5 games back. Eric Lauer starts today with a 2-0 record and 1.93 ERA. He also has a 0.986 WHIP. Lauer opened the season with a rough start, allowing three runs over 4 2/3 innings. Since then he has gone 19 innings and allowed just two runs while striking out 29 and walking just two. The Atlanta Braves snapped a two game losing streak with a win over the Mets in their rubber game of the series, 9-2. The Braves will start Jesse Chavez today. Chavez makes his first start after appearing solely from the bullpen where he was 0-0 with a 2.84 ERA, 13 KO's and two walks. I still like the Brewers here today as they have been hot. Play Milwaukee. |
05-04-22 | Yankees -137 v. Blue Jays | Top | 1-2 | Loss | -137 | 8 h 23 m | Show |
The Yankees continue their blistering attack on the A.L with their 11th win in a row when they beat the Blue Jays for the second straight game, 9-1. The Yankees have also been getting great pitching. One their best has been Nestor Cortes. Cortes starts today with just a 1-0 record in four starts, but a 1.31 ERA and 0.871 WHIP. Nestor has also allowed just three walks on the year to go with his 28 KO's. The Blue Jays look to salvage one game against the Yankees here tonight. Yusei Kikuchi will be the one to try and get that win. He's 0-1 in his four starts with a 5.52 ERA and 1.909 WHIP. Yankees just too hot to go against at this point. I'll lay the price with New York. |
05-02-22 | Rays v. A's +145 | 6-1 | Loss | -100 | 12 h 39 m | Show
The Tampa Bay Rays look to snap a two game losing streak as they travel West to take on the Oakland A's in the start of their series. The Rays lost the last two in their series with the Twins, including Sunday's setback, 3-9. Drew Rasmussen will get the call today. Rasmussen is 1-1 in his four starts with a 3.50 ERA. He's coming off his best start of the season, a six inning outing vs Seattle where he gave up just two hits and not runs to go with 9 KO's and 1 walk. The A's have fallen to 10-12 after losing three straight games to the Guardians. Daulton Jefferies will try to get the team back to winning here today. Jefferies is 1-3 in his four starts with a 3.26 ERA. He has one start at home and that was a 6 inning outing vs the Orioles where he allowed just three hits and no earned runs. I'm a bit surprised at the big home dog the A's are here today considering they matchup well in this game. I'll take the live dog here today. |
04-30-22 | Reds v. Rockies -138 | Top | 3-4 | Win | 100 | 8 h 1 m | Show |
The Cincinnati Reds have firmly established themselves as the worst team in baseball with a 3-17 record. They have lost four straight games and 15 of the last 16 games. They lost game one of this series with the Rockies last night, 4-10. That's 34 runs they have allowed over the last four games. The Reds will try something different today as they start Connor Overton. Overton gets his first start of the season here today as the Reds look for something to change their fortunes. Overton had a 2.84 ERA at Triple A Louisville in 19 innings of work. The Rockies improved to 11-9 and snapped a four game losing streak with the win last night. Chad Kuhl will make his fourth start here today and is 2-0 on the season. Kuhl has been very good with a 1.10 ERA and 0.919 WHIP allowing just two total runs over 16 1/3 innings of work. I'll take the Rockies here today even with new blood on the mound for the Reds. Take Colorado. |
04-29-22 | Reds v. Rockies -113 | 4-10 | Win | 100 | 9 h 26 m | Show
The Cincinnati Reds have dropped to 3-16 after getting swept by the San Diego Padres in a series where they were outscored by a 16-24 margin. The Reds have lost three straight and their only win in the last 14 games was on April 24 in a 4-1 win over St Louis. Today they will send Hunter Greene to the mound who is 1-2 overall in his three starts and has one of the Reds three wins this year. Greene has a 5.27 ERA with a 1.391 WHIP. Greene has been consistent, allowing three runs in each of his starts. The Rockies have dropped to 10-9 after losing their last four games and beings swept by at Philadelphia. They were outscored by the Phillies in that series 9-32. They return home here today and Antonio Senzatela will start with a 1-1 record in his three starts. Senzatela has a 4.73 ERA. However, at home he is 2-0 with a 2.16 ERA. Neither team or pitcher playing all that well, but I have to take the Rockies at home against the worst team in baseball. Play Colorado. |
04-29-22 | Twins +120 v. Rays | 1-6 | Loss | -100 | 8 h 55 m | Show
The Minnesota Twins are 11-8 overall and on a seven game win streak after sweeping the Tigers and White Sox. The pitching has been amazing, they have allowed four runs or fewer in 10 straight games. Dylan Bundy gets the start today and he's been their best pitcher with a 3-0 record, 0.59 ERA, 0.718 WHIP and 12 KO's against just one walk. The Rays have improved to 11-8 after winning two straight games. The Rays will send Corey Kluber to the hill today. Kluber is 0-1 in his three starts with a 3.68 ERA and 1.568 WHIP. Kluber gave up 11 hits in just five innings to go with three run sin his last start against Boston. I get the Twins as a small dog here today with their Ace on the mound and riding a 7-game win streak. yes please. Play Minnesota. |
04-27-22 | A's +157 v. Giants | 1-0 | Win | 157 | 12 h 38 m | Show
Battle by the Bay continues here tonight as the Giants host the A's. The A's look to keep their heads above the .500 mark as they sit at 9-9 overall on the season. The A's lost game one of this series yesterday, 2-8. Fourth game in a row the A's have scored two runs or fewer. Paul Blackburn takes to the hill today for the A's. Blackburn has been excellent this year with a 2-0 record in three starts with a 1.80 ERA and 0.800 WHIP. He has just one walk against his 14 KO's. The Giants took over 1st place in the NL West with their win on Tuesday night as they sit 13-5, a half game ahead of the Dodgers. Sam Long makes his third start of the season for the Giants. Long is one of those relievers who starts and only will go a inning or two. In his two starts he has three innings with three hits and not runs. A's are a excellent live dog here today with Blackburn on the hill. Take Oakland. |
04-27-22 | Astros v. Rangers +105 | 4-3 | Loss | -100 | 10 h 38 m | Show
The Lone Star State battle here between Houston and Texas continues here on Wednesday. The Astros took game one last night, 5-1. Still the Astros have been slumping as they have won two of their last seven games. The Houston Astros are facing a grueling 33 games in 34 days, so they are bringing up Cristian Javier to start today. Javier joins a six-man Astros rotation. Texas dropped to 6-11 after losing last night. The Rangers are 4-2 their last six and playing better. Glenn Otto makes only his second start of the season. Otto went five innings, allowing two hits and five runs in his first start. He also had five KO's to go with just one walk. The Rangers have been playing better and if Otto pitches like he did in his first start they will win here tonight. Play Texas. |
04-27-22 | Marlins -137 v. Nationals | 2-1 | Win | 100 | 7 h 41 m | Show
The Miami Marlins look to get above the .500 mark here tonight after winning their last three games. Their best pitcher is on the mound here today as Pablo Lopez takes to the hill. Lopez is 2-0 in his three starts with a 0.52 ERA and 0.750 WHIP. Lopez has not allowed a run over his last two starts, 12 1/3 innings. The Washington Nationals are in a free fall as they have lost six straight games. They haven't scored more than three runs in any of those losses. Today's starter, Erick Fedde hasn't done well either with a 1-1 record in three starts and a 6.75 ERA. Fedde allowed eight hits and six earned runs over just 3 1/3 inning in his last start against Arizona. I'm taking the Marlins with their best pitcher on the hill. |
04-25-22 | Dodgers v. Diamondbacks +172 | 4-0 | Loss | -100 | 9 h 24 m | Show
The NL West is arguably the best division in baseball with the Dodgers, Giants and Padres all contenders to go to the World Series. The Dodgers and Giants both have 11 wins while the Padres and Rockies have 10. The Diamondbacks, well they have the misfortune of being in this division and have just six wins. The Dodgers once again have excellent starters and a great bullpen. They have held their last five opponents and 11 of the last 12 to three runs or fewer each game. Walker Buehler will start today at 1-1 on the season after three starts. Buehler has a 4.02 ERA and 1.468 WHIP. He has yet to allow more than three runs in any of his three starts. The D'backs are not one of the better hitting teams in the league, but they have scraped together six wins. At least three of those wins as +1.50 or higher underdogs. Merrill Kelly starts today and he's pitching great for the D'backs. Kelly has a 1-0 record after three starts with a 0.59 ERA and 1.174 WHIP. Kelly has allowed just one run over 15 1/3 innings with six walks and 18 KO's. For me, Kelly is a nice dog and worth a shot here today against the Dodgers. Play Arizona. |
04-24-22 | Cardinals -133 v. Reds | 1-4 | Loss | -133 | 3 h 9 m | Show
It just goes from bad to worse for the Reds at this time. Their loss to the Cardinals on Saturday dropped them to 2-13 on the season. And, like has happened so often, the offense took the day off. They lost game one to the Cardinals, 2-4 and then lost Saturday, 0-5. That means they have lost 11 in a row and have scored two runs or fewer in their last seven games. The Reds started the season well, scoring five or more runs in four of their first five games. Since then, they haven't scored more than three runs in a game. Their odds don't look much better today as Nick Lodolo starts. Lodolo is 0-2 in his two starts with a 8.00 ERA and 2.00 WHIP. The Cardinals have feasted on the Reds thus far. Today likely won't be any different with Adam Wainwright on the mound. Wainwright is 2-1 in his three starts with a 2.81 ERA and 1.375 WHIP. I'll just keep betting against the Reds until they show some life. Play St Louis. |
04-23-22 | Blue Jays -113 v. Astros | 3-2 | Win | 100 | 2 h 57 m | Show
The Toronto Blue Jays lead the AL East with a 9-5 record after winning three straight games including last night's at Houston, 4-3. The Jays will send Alek Manoah to the hill having won both his first starts this year. Manoah has a 1.50 ERA and 0.917 WHIP and has 13 KO's though he does have six walks. The Houston Astros have dropped to 6-7 after losing three straight games and four of the last five. The Astros have only scored five total runs over their last three games, all at home. Jose Urquidy will make his third start after a 1-1 record. However, he has a high ERA of 7.00 and a WHIP of 1.444. I'm going to take the Jays here today on the road with Manoah. Play Toronto. |
04-23-22 | Cardinals +105 v. Reds | Top | 5-0 | Win | 105 | 2 h 56 m | Show |
The Cincinnati Reds continue their slide as they are now just 2-12 on the year. THey have also lost 10 straight games after yesterday's setback to the Cardinals, 2-4. And, yesterday marked the seventh straight game of scoring two runs or fewer. Tim Mahle has one of the team's two wins this year. Mahle has a 5.68 ERA and 1.579 WHIP. The Cardinals improved to 8-4 on the season with their win yesterday. They have won three of the last four and five of the last seven. Dakota Hudson starts today with a 0-1 record and 7.71 ERA in his two starts. This could be the best shot for the Reds to win a game, but I'm still not convinced. I'll stick with the Cardinals. |
04-23-22 | Rangers v. A's -125 | 2-0 | Loss | -125 | 2 h 53 m | Show
The Texas Rangers have improved to 4-9 on the season after a pair of wins, including last night's opener against the A's, 8-1. Pitching as been an issue for the Rangers with five pitchers who have started all having an ERA of 6.75 or greater. Today's starter, Martin Perez, is one of those. Perez has a 6.75 ERA and 2.000 WHIP in his two starts. He's also walked four against just seven KO's. Oakland dropped to 8-7 with yesterday's loss to the Rangers. They are still looking to put together a nice win streak, with the best so far at just two games. Frankie Montas will start today for the A's with a 2-1 record after three starts. Montas has a nice 3.64 ERA with a 0.923 WHIP. He has just three walks to go with his 17 KO's this year. I like Montas here today. Play the A's. |
04-23-22 | White Sox v. Twins -130 | 2-9 | Win | 100 | 2 h 52 m | Show
The Chicago White Sox hope to put the skids to a five-game losing streak here today in Minnesota. They lost game one last night, 1-2. In fact, they have score just one run in three of their last four games. Vincent Velasquez will start today. He has two starts this year and has a 0-1 record with a 4.15 ERA. The Twins have improved to 6-8 after winning their last two games. The AL Central is al tight with all teams have either five, six or seven wins this year. Dylan Bundy will start today and has a 2-0 record after two starts. He's been the best Twins pitcher, allowing just one run over 10 1/3 innings with one walk and eight KO's. Bundy has been very good and I will stick with him here today. Play Minnesota. |
04-22-22 | Cardinals -117 v. Reds | 4-2 | Win | 100 | 6 h 7 m | Show
The St Louis Cardinals and Cincinnati Reds begin a 3-game set tonight. The Cardinals are coming off a loss to Miami, 0-5. However, they did take two of the three from the Marlins. In fact, the Cardinals have not lost a series yet this season. Steven Matz will start for the Cardinals today. Matz is 1-1 on the season with a 7.27 ERA and 1.499 WHIP. It was his first start of the season against Pittsburgh that did all the damage as he allowed seven runs over three innings. Matz pitched more like what we would expect in his second start against Milwaukee, going 5 2/3 innings and allowing three hits, no runs, no walks and six KO's. The Reds look to be the worst team in baseball right now with just two wins and 11 losses on the season. Moreover, they have dropped nine straight games after their loss to the Padres on Wednesday, 0-6. The offense is almost non existent, scoring three runs or fewer in eight straight games. Hunter Greene will start today with a 1-1 record after two starts, a 4.36 ERA and 1.065 WHIP. Not difficult to take the Cardinals here tonight until we see some life out this Cincinnati team. Play St Louis. |
04-21-22 | Cardinals v. Marlins -125 | 0-5 | Win | 100 | 6 h 46 m | Show
The St Louis Cardinals improved to 7-3 after taking the first two games of this 3-game set with the Marlins. The Cards look for the sweep today and they will send Jordan Hicks to the mound for his first ever MLB start. Hicks has had his fastball clocked at over 105 mph and has plenty of potential. However, Tommy John surgery has kept him on the shelf for most of the last 2 1/2 years. Don't expect Hicks to go past three innings here today as they Cards don't want to overuse him. The Marlins dropped to 4-7 after losing the last two games to St Louis. Pablo Lopez will make his third start of the season after a pair of very nice starts. Lopez has a 0.87 ERA over his 10 1/3 innings of work. I will take the Marlins with Lopez here today to salvage the rubber game of this set. Play Miami. |
04-21-22 | Orioles v. A's -116 | 4-6 | Win | 100 | 3 h 42 m | Show
The Baltimore Orioles are just 4-8 on the season after their first 12 games. They got a win against two losses vs these A's, winning last night 1-0. The O's have scored one run in each of the first three games vs the A's. Tyler Wells will get the start with a 0-1 record after two starts. Well has a 6.35 ERA but pitched well in his second start vs the Yankees. He allowed just three hits over four innings with no runs. The A's dropped to 7-6 with their loss on Wednesday to the O's. They have received very good pitching this year while the hitting has been inconsistent. Paul Blackburn gets the start today with a 1-0 record after two starts. He has gone five innings in each of his starts, allowing just two total runs and posting 10 KO's and one walk. Short line here today for the A's who get the light hitting O's. I'll take Oakland. |
04-21-22 | Giants v. Mets -130 | 2-6 | Win | 100 | 2 h 10 m | Show
Two of the best pitching team and overall teams in baseball meet today in New York as the Mets host the Giants. The Mets have taken two of the first three in this series as they play the final of four here today. Anthony Desclafani will start for the Giants today. Desclafani has no record after two starts with a 4.32 ERA and 1.679 WHIP. The Mets are 9-4 after winning three of the last four games. They did lose last night to the Giants, 2-5. This Mets pitching staff has been excellent thus far. Carlos Carrasco starts for the Mets today. Carrasco is 0-0 in his two start but has pitched great, allowing just one total run over 10 2/3 innings of work with five hits, two walks and 13 KO's. I like the Mets and Carrasco today, they have too much for this Giants team. |
04-20-22 | Phillies v. Rockies +100 | 9-6 | Loss | -100 | 1 h 46 m | Show
The Philadelphia Phillies dropped to 4-8 on the season after losing the first two games of this series in Colorado, including last night's game, 5-6. The Phillies have now lost seven of their last eight games. They will look to Zach Eflin to get the ship back on track today. Eflin is 0-1 after two starts with a 4.50 ERA and 1.375 WHIP. Eflin has got a total of two runs of support in his first two games. He's gone eight innings and allowed eight hits and four runs. Meanwhile, Colorado improved to 8-3 on the season after their two wins. They are also 4-1 their last five games. The Rockies will send German Marquez to the hill today. Marquez has record after two starts with a 3.97 ERA and 1.236 WHIP. Marquez got hit pretty hard in his last start vs the Cubs, giving up 10 hits and four runs over 4 1/3 innings. Still, no way the Phillies should be the favorite here today. I'll take the Rockies as they look for the sweep. |
04-19-22 | Rays v. Cubs +105 | 6-5 | Loss | -100 | 7 h 21 m | Show
The lone Interleague game today has the Tampa Bay Rays heading over tot the Senior Circuit to take on the Chicago Cubs. The Tampa Bay Rays off to a slow start as they look to get back to the .500 mark tonight sitting at 5-6 overall. The Rays have lost five of their last six games including last night's opener with the Cubs, 2-4. They have scored three runs or fewer in five of their last six games. Matt Wisler will make his first start of the season. He's been busy for the Rays in the pen though, making five appearances over 4 2/3 innings with a 1.93 ERA and 0.86 WHIP. Wisler looks to only go two innings max here tonight, a tactic that the Rays use quite often. The Cubs improved to 6-4 on the season after Monday's win. The Cubs have won their last two games. Justin Steele makes his third start of the year for the Cubs. Steele is 1-0 with a 1.93 ERA. He's allowed nine hits and just two earned runs over 9 1/3 innings. I'll take the Cubs here tonight against a struggling Rays club. |
04-18-22 | Phillies v. Rockies +146 | Top | 1-4 | Win | 146 | 8 h 6 m | Show |
Philadelphia heads west for the first time this year as they play the Colorado Rockies. The Phillies are just 4-6 on the season and have lost five of their last six games, including Sunday's loss to the Marlins, 3-11. Aaron Nola will start for the third time this year. Nola is 1-1 with a 6.75 ERA and 1.072 WHIP thus far. Nolan went just 3 1/3 innings in his last start against the Mets, allowing three hits and three runs. The Rockies are off to a nice start at 6-3. But they still play in the NL West where four teams have at least six wins already. Chad Kuhl will start today. Kuhl went 4 1/3 innings in his first start against Texas, allowing two hits and one run. Not sure why the Phillies a fairly good sized favorite today. They have not played well and Nolan hasn't pitched all that well. Colorado is home, playing better and has the better starter on the hill. Ok, I'll take the dog price at home with Colorado. |
04-16-22 | Phillies v. Marlins -111 | 10-3 | Loss | -111 | 7 h 32 m | Show
The Phillies have struggled out of the gate this year, posting a 3-5 record thus far. After winning three of their first four games they have now lost four straight, including both to the Marlins. The Phils lost yesterday's game to Miami, 1-7. They will turn to Ranger Suarez today to get the ship back on track. Suarez went just 2 2/3 innings in his first start against the Mets, allowing five hits and three runs for a no decision. The Marlins lost four of their first five games before winning the last two. The pitching has been solid while the hitting suspect at times. Trevor Rogers toes the rubber today with a loss in his first start to the Giants, 2-3. Rogers went five innings and allowed six hits and two earned runs. I like the pitching staff of the Marlins much more here today plus I give the starting pitching edge to Miami. I'll take the Marlins. |
04-16-22 | Tigers +111 v. Royals | 1-3 | Loss | -100 | 5 h 33 m | Show
Inner Circle Insider: The Detroit Tigers are right at the .500 mark with a 4-4 record after winning two straight over the KC Royals. They beat the Royals on Thursday 4-2 and then won yesterday's game 2-1, getting excellent pitching in both games. Matt Manning will look to make it three straight today as he gets the start. Manning had a very good initial start against the Red Sox, going six strong innings and allowing just one hit and one run on a solo home run. The Royals started the season with hopes, as they won their first two games of the year. But things have gone South and fast as they have lost five straight games, getting outscored 18-39 in the process. Kris Bubic looks to do better than that horrific start in his first game. Bubic went just 2/3 of the first inning before getting pulled after allowing three hits and five runs with two walks. I'm taking the Tigers who look much better at this stage. Play Detroit. |
04-16-22 | A's +198 v. Blue Jays | 7-5 | Win | 198 | 3 h 30 m | Show
Dog Shocker: The Oakland A's can climb back above the .500 mark today with a win. They lost the opener to the Blue Jays on Friday, 1-4. That snapped a modest two game win streak. Paul Blackburn gets the nod on the hill today for the A's. Blackburn won his first start over the Rays, 13-2. Blackburn went five solid innings and allowed just three hits with seven KO's. The Blue Jays improved to 5-3 after their win over the A's on Friday. They alternated wins and losses since they opened the season 2-0. Hyun-Jin Ryu will get the start today. Ryu got a no decision in his opening game, going just 3 1/3 innings and allowing five hits and six runs. I'm a bit surprised to see the A's such a big dog. They have a excellent pitcher on the mound and Ryu looked very bad in his 1st start. I'll take the big money here today with the A's. |
04-14-22 | Tigers v. Royals -120 | Top | 4-2 | Loss | -120 | 9 h 27 m | Show |
The 2-4 Detroit Tigers make their way to Kansas City to face the Royals tonight. This is the opener of a four game series with the Royals. The Tigers have lost two straight games to the Red Sox after losing two of three to the White Sox. Casey Mize will make his second start of the season tonight Mize opened against the White Sox, going five innings and allowing seven hits and four runs. The Royals opened the season with a pair of wins over the Guardians, but have since dropped three straight games. Zack Grienke returned to KC this year and makes his second start of the season. Grienke pitched well in his first game back, going 5 2/3 innings, allowing just five hits and one run in the win over the Guardians. I'll take Zack here tonight since he looks in fine form already. Play Kansas City. |
04-14-22 | Angels -140 v. Rangers | 5-10 | Loss | -140 | 9 h 23 m | Show
One of the late games on the schedule today has the LA Angels playing at Texas. The Angels lost three of their first four games of the season at home to the Astros. However, they bounced back taking both of their games from the Marlins, evening their record at 3-3. The Angels return to opening day starter Shohei Ohtani. Ohtani is 0-1 with a 1.93 ERA. He pitched well in the opener, going 4 2/3 innings, allowing just four hits and one run. Most impressive though were his nine KO's in under five innings with just one walk. The Rangers are off to a slow 1-4 start. They lost two of three to the Blue Jays in their opening set and then dropped both games at home to Colorado. They looks to get back on the winning track today with Dane Dunning. Dunning got no decision in his opening start against the Blue Jays, going five innings and allowing five hits and three runs. I like Ohtani tonight who looked great in his opening call. Play LA Angels. |
04-14-22 | Cardinals +130 v. Brewers | 1-5 | Loss | -100 | 7 h 32 m | Show
The early game on the board today has the St Louis Cardinals taking on the Milwaukee Brewers in the opening game of a four game set. The Cardinals are 3-1 to start the season, taking two of three from the Pittsburgh Pirates and then their one game set over KC, 6-5 on Tuesday. Adam Wainwright look great as he took the mound on opening day, going six strong innings, scattering five hits and allowing no runs. He also struck out six and allowed no walks. The Brewers lost three of their first four games but have rebounded with two straight wins over the Orioles. Brandon Woodruff got roughed-up in his opening start, going 3 2/3 innings and allowing seven earned runs to the Cubs. I like the way the Cards and Wainwright have looked early. I'll take them as a nice dog here today. |
04-13-22 | Brewers v. Orioles +161 | 4-2 | Loss | -100 | 7 h 32 m | Show
The Brewers off to a slow start this season at 1-3 after dropping two of three at the Cubs and then losing their opening at Baltimore, 0-2. The Brewers have been shut out in two of their four games thus far. The Brewers will return to their Ace here today in Corbin Burnes. Burnes has one start this year and he has no record with a 5.40 ERA in the team's opening game against the Cubs. Burnes went five innings and allowed four hits and three runs with three walks - not a performance we have been accustomed to from Burnes. Baltimore got its first win of the season in this opener against the Brewers. The O's got swept at Tampa Bay in the three game series, scoring a total of four runs. John Means will start today. Means had a very good start vs the Rays, going four innings and allowing just one run with five KO's and one walk. Burnes too big a favorite after his start to the season. Means pitched a great game and should have his team in this one. Play Baltimore. |
04-12-22 | Blue Jays +112 v. Yankees | 0-4 | Loss | -100 | 5 h 2 m | Show
A pair of AL East teams meet here tonight as the Yankees host the Blue Jays as they play game two of their series. The Jays opened with a shut-out win on Monday over the Yankees, 3-0. That makes the Jays 3-1 on the season after a 2-1 series win over the Rangers to open the season. Yusei Kikuchi will start for the Jays. He was 7-9 last year with a 4.41 ERA and 1.32 WHIP and makes his first start of this season. The Yankees are 2-2 after their first four games, taking two of three in the Boston series before losing game one here to the Jays. Nestor Cortes takes the hill for the Yankees. Cortes was 2-3 with a 2.90 ERA last season. Toronto is a small dog here tonight and I like them even as a favorite in this one. Play Toronto. |
04-12-22 | Mets +140 v. Phillies | 2-0 | Win | 140 | 5 h 42 m | Show
The New York Mets started the season 3-0 after taking their first three games against the Nationals. Then the Nationals took game four, 4-2, and the Phillies came from behind last night for the 5-4 win. The Mets look to snap that two game losing streak here tonight with Trylor Megill. Megill opened the season with a nice win over the Nationals, going five innings and allowing just three hits and no runs. He also struck out six and walked non. The Phillies are 3-1 to start the season with a pair of wins at home over Oakland and then winning game one here yesterday, 5-4. Zach Wheeler will toe the rubber for the Phillies. Wheeler gets his first start of the season after a 14-10 2021 campaing with a 2.78 ERA. The Mets are a pretty good sized dog here tonight and I like them in that live dog role as they stay close and hopefully beat the Phillies. |
04-12-22 | Indians +100 v. Reds | 10-5 | Win | 100 | 2 h 6 m | Show
The battle for Ohio rivalry gets underway again as Cleveland travels to Cincinnati for Ohio bragging rights. The Indians just wrapped-up a four game set at Kansas City. They lost the first two games, scoring a combined 1-run in the two games. However, the bats awakened in games three and four as they took those games by a combined 27-10 score. Shane Bieber will take the hill for the Guardians here today. Beiber is 0-0 in his only start this year with a 1.93 ERA and a 0.64 WHIP. Cincinnati also just complete a four-game set at Atlanta where they split the four games, winning the first and fourth games of the set. Tyler Mahle will start today for the Reds. Mahle is 1-0 this year with a 0.00 ERA and 1.00 WHIP. Mahle went five innings against the Braves, allowing one unearned run while striking out seven and walking just two. Two excellent pitchers here today, but I'll take the Guardians in this one. |
04-11-22 | Mariners +118 v. Twins | 0-4 | Loss | -100 | 6 h 26 m | Show
The Seattle Mariners and Minnesota Twins conclude their four game series here today. The Mariners have taken two of the last three games, though they lost on Sunday, 4-10. Christ Flexen will start today for the M's. Flexen was 14-6 last year with a 3.61 ERA. Flexen had just 40 walks and 125 KO's last year. Flexen was 7-1 on the road with a 4.06 ERA. The Twins will start Dylan Bundy. Bundy had a very poor season last year with a 2-9 record and 6.06 ERA in his 23 games. The Mariners look to be the better team in this first week of the season and they definitely have the better pitcher on the hill today. Play Seattle. |
04-09-22 | Astros -105 v. Angels | 0-2 | Loss | -105 | 9 h 9 m | Show
The Houston Astros look to go 3-0 on the season here tonight at the LA Angels. The Astros took game one 3-1 and then Friday's contest 13-6. Justin Verlander returns to the Astros this season in a one-year deal. Verlander hasn't pitched a full season since the 2018 season when he won the Cy Young. He hopes to get back to those winning days starting tonight. The Angels look to get that first win and they look to Noah Syndergaard who left the Mets for the Angels this year. Both these pitchers are returning from Tommy John surgery and it should be interesting to see if they are anything near their old selves here tonight. For me, the Astros already have showed they have a ton of hitting and I'll take them again here tonight. Play Houston. |
04-09-22 | Marlins +133 v. Giants | 2-1 | Win | 133 | 4 h 7 m | Show
The Marlins play game two of their series here today from San Francisco. The Giants took the opener on Friday, 6-5 in 10 innings in a come-from-behind win. Miami finished in fourth place last year in the NL East with a 67-95 record. The Giants seemed to pick up right where they left off last year with another comeback win. The Marlins led last night's game for six innings before the Giants came back. Pablo Lopez toes the rubber for the Marlins. Lopez was 5-5 in his 20 starts last year. Lopez struck out 10.08 batters per 9 innings and pitched very well in his lone start vs the Giants. The Giants won a franchise record 107 games last year. Buster Posey retired and starting pitcher Kevin Guasman left in free agency. Rondon makes his first start for his new team after a 13-5 record last year. Rondon didn't make it through the entire 2021 season so the Giants are hoping he stays healthy this year. I believe the Marlins are a sleeper play here in game two as a nice dog. Don't expect Rondon to stick around long as the Giants don't want to over work him. I'll take the Marlins as my dog. |
04-08-22 | White Sox -131 v. Tigers | 4-5 | Loss | -131 | 1 h 14 m | Show
Game one of a three game series here in Detroit today. The Sox looking to defend their AL Central Division Championship, winning 93 games last year. The White Sox just picked up AJ Pollack from the Dodgers for reliever Craig Kimbrel. Pollack should add a lot of hitting to this club. Lucas Giolito is the Ace of this staff and gets the start here today. Giolito is coming of a 12-9 season last year. Detroit hasn't made the playoffs since 2014 and made some big moves in the offseason to stop that trend. The White Sox are favorites for a reason, they have great hitting and pitching. I expect the Tigers to be better this year, but not right away. Take Chicago. |
04-07-22 | Indians v. Royals +115 | 1-3 | Win | 115 | 6 h 51 m | Show
Not a lot to go on with all the teams having their opening games. Still, you know me, I love to find love dogs and I believe I have found one here tonight with the Royals. They will be starting newly acquired Zack Grienke. Cleveland begins their era as the Cleveland Guardians here tonight. I'm going to take the Royals here tonight with Grienke as a very small dog and look for that opening night home win for KC. |
11-02-21 | Braves v. Astros -120 | 7-0 | Loss | -120 | 30 h 53 m | Show
Didn't look like we would have a games six on Sunday as the Braves jumped out to a 4-0 lead in game five. But, the Astros came back and won the game 9-5 to force the series back to Houston and a game six here on Tuesday. Max Fried will toe the rubber today for the Braves. Fried has one start in the World Series and that was five innings and he gave up seven hits and six runs in a 2-7 loss. That's two poor starts in a row in the postseason, as he's allowed 11 runs over his last 9 2/3 innings of postseason work. Luis Garcia will make his second WS start. Garcia went 3 2/3 innings in game three vs the Braves. He allowed one run and three hits. I believe the Braves lose here tonight as they should have won game five and finished this. Now they have to play games they don't want to. Look for a Houston win here in game six. |
10-31-21 | Astros -112 v. Braves | 9-5 | Win | 100 | 9 h 5 m | Show
The final game of the World Series in Atlanta goes here tonight and the Braves can wrap things up after winning last night 3-2 and taking a 3-1 lead in this best of seven series. The Braves trailed a good part of last night's game, but chipped away and finally took a 3-2 lead late for the win. Tonight, the Braves are once again undecided on who they will start. With the loss of Charlie Morton they have been forced to go the route of openers here late but we could see Max Fried again here tonight. The Astros are going with game one starter, Framber Valdez. Valdez only went two innings in that start and gave up eight hits and five runs. For me, I really don't care what the Braves do for a starter here tonight. This is the game I am looking at Houston to win and force a game six back in Texas next week. Play Houston |
10-29-21 | Astros v. Braves -109 | 0-2 | Win | 100 | 10 h 36 m | Show
The Atlanta Braves left Houston with what they wanted, a split in the first two games. However, they left with something they didn't want, the loss of Pitcher Charlie Morton to a broken leg. Morton could have started three games and now they will have to replace him. Luis Garcia starts here on Friday in game three for Houston. Garcia had a excellent outing vs Boston in his second ALCS start, going 5 2/3 innings with just one hit allowed and no runs. That came after a pair of postseason starts where he allowed 10 runs over just 3 2/3 innings. Ian Anderson starts tonight for the Braves. Anderson has been very good, allowing just three earned runs in his three postseason starts (12 innings). I still believe the Braves have the better pitching, even without Morton. I'll take Atlanta here in game three. |
10-17-21 | Dodgers -166 v. Braves | 4-5 | Loss | -166 | 5 h 28 m | Show
The Dodgers dropped game one of this NLCS Best of seven on Saturday, 2-3. I had the Braves mainly because of the traveling the Dodgers had to do plus the emotional win over the Giants. I thought this was the best chance the Braves had with their Ace on the mound. Still, it took a walk off hit in the bottom of the 9th to win it. Plus, a base running blunder by Taylor in the top half of the inning might have changed everything had he not got into a run down between 2nd and 3rd. The Dodgers played much better then I thought they would. Which is why today I'm on the Dodgers. Now that they got that game out of their system and they have Ace Max Scherzer on the hill, I look for the to return to LA tied at 1-1. |
10-16-21 | Dodgers v. Braves +115 | 2-3 | Win | 115 | 20 h 30 m | Show
Dodgers and Braves open the NLCS here today in this best of seven series. The Dodgers just finished up one of their most emotional series ever against their long time rivals the Giants. Too bad one of those teams had to be done as both had won 109 games before the Dodgers took game five, 2-1. Yes, there was a controversial half swing call to end the game, but realistically the Dodgers likely would have won since there were two outs and a running only on first. Still, hate to see the game end that way for a great team like the Giants had. Now the Dodgers will have to turn those emotions to this series with the Braves. The Braves will start Max Fried here in game one. Fried is my favorite pitcher on this staff and he catches the Dodgers in what could easily be a letdown sport for them. Max Scherzer was expected to start here today, but he came in to close the game in the bottom of the 9th for the Dodgers. So, at this point it's still up in the air. For me, I don't care who they start. I'm looking for a flat Dodgers response here on Saturday and a great shot for the Braves to get game one. Play Atlanta. |
10-15-21 | Red Sox v. Astros -134 | 4-5 | Win | 100 | 9 h 55 m | Show
The Boston Red Sox shocked everyone with a win in the ALDS over the team with the best record in the A.L. this year, Tampa Bay. After losing game one of the ALDS to the Rays, 0-5, they reeled-off three straight wins, scoring 26 runs in the process. Houston advances to the ALCS after beating the White Sox in four games. They also had a big hitting series with 31 runs over their four wins. Houston starts Framber Valdez here tonight in game one. Valdez was 11-6 this season with a 3.30 ERA. He's been slightly worse of late, going 3-2 with a 4.17 ERA over his last seven starts. Chris Sale gets the start for the Red Sox. Sale was 5-1 in his 10 starts with a 4.12 ERA. He wasn't very good in his four road starts where he went 0-1 with a 7.37 ERA. He allowed four hits and five runs to the Rays in the ALDS, going just one inning. I like the home team here in game one of the ALCS. Take Houston. |
10-14-21 | Dodgers v. Giants -110 | 2-1 | Loss | -110 | 6 h 36 m | Show
The Dodgers stayed alive and forced a decisive game five here in San Francisco on Thursday with their win in game four at home. The Dodgers made a late change on Thursday from Urias to Knebel. This seems strange to me since Urias has been so good and won 21 games. But, the Dodgers might be pulling a page from Tampa Bay and using Knebel as an opener for a few innings and then going to Urias. Still, I'm not happy about the move. Logan Webb has been impressive and he didn't disappoint in game one of this series, winning 4-0 and allowing just five hits over 7 2/3 innings with no runs. Webb is 7-0 at home this year with a 1.80 ERA. Webb has also owned the Dodgers. He's young and that's my only issue as to whether the pressure might get to him here tonight. This pitching change for the Dodgers just made up my mind for me. I'll take the Giants. |
10-12-21 | Brewers v. Braves -148 | 4-5 | Win | 100 | 4 h 7 m | Show
The Atlanta Braves have used a great pitching performances to take a 2-1 lead in this best of five series over the Milwaukee Brewers. After losing game one, 1-2, the Braves won games two and three by the same score, 3-0. Tonight, the Braves throw another excellent pitcher at the anemic hitting Brewers. Charlie Morton is 14-7 with a 3.29 ERA on the year. Morton lost the opener to Milwaukee, but pitched excellent, going six innings and allowing just three hits and two runs. He struck out nine. That makes 30 KO's over the last four starts. Eric Lauer starts for the Brewers tonight with a 7-5 record and 2.87 ERA. He's been slightly worse on the road with a 2-2 record and 3.32 ERA. Should be another low scoring game, but I give the hitting edge to the Braves. Take Atlanta. |
10-11-21 | Giants v. Dodgers -197 | 1-0 | Loss | -197 | 8 h 32 m | Show
I really would like to play the Dodgers on the money line here, but 2.00 favorite is more than I will lay. The Dodgers came away from San Francisco with a 1-1 series and can take a commanding lead with their Ace on the hill today in Max Scherzer. However, Scherzer hasn't looked the Ace part recently, allowing 10 runs in his last two regular season games. In the Wild Card game vs the Cardinals he allowed just one run and three hits over 4 1/3 innings. However, anyone that watched the game saw he didn't have his best stuff. He allowed three walks, something he hadn't done since July. He was also visibly upset when Roberts removed him from the game in the 5th inning. However, I understood that move. Roberts gave the game over to his great bullpen and wanted to save Scherzer's arm for this game. Instead of 100+ pitches, he threw only around 80. Alex Wood has been very good for the Giants, going 10-4 with a 3.83 ERA. He wasn't quite as good on the road with a 3-2 record and 4.20 ERA. Big number here today on the Dodgers, but Scherzer has not lost at Dodgers Stadium since he was acquired by LA. I'll lay the big number with Max and LA. |
10-10-21 | Rays v. Red Sox -114 | 4-6 | Win | 100 | 3 h 54 m | Show
Boston got even this series with the Rays as they won game two at Tampa Bay, 14-6. Today the Rays look to regain home field advantage with a win at Boston. Drew Rasmussen will start for the Rays with a 3-0 record in his 10 starts this season. Rasmussen has a 1.93 ERA and has allowed just 5 total runs over his last seven starts. In fact, he has allowed more than one run in just two of his starts and both those were two run efforts. In three games against Boston he's allowed 10 hits and three total runs over 13 innings. Nathan Eovaldi makes his first start since winning the Wild Card match. Eovaldi is 12-9 with a 3.64 ERA this season. Tough matchup today with both pitchers hot. Eovaldi comes up big in big games. I look for Eovaldi to show up the hero again today. Play Boston. |
10-09-21 | Braves +114 v. Brewers | 3-0 | Win | 114 | 6 h 55 m | Show
The Atlanta Braves came so close to stealing game one of their series with the Brewers on Friday, losing 1-2. Today, they look to get that game as they send Max Fried to the hill. Fried is 14-7 on the season and the team has won his last five starts. Fried has a 3.10 ERA and he's been even better of late with a 3-0 mark (team 6-1) in his last seven starts with a 1.91 ERA. Fried has allowed just one run over his last three starts (23 innings). Milwaukee has Brandon Woodruff going today with a 9-10 record and 2.56 ERA. As good as his ERA has been this year, the team has lost his last four starts. Woodruff is also just 2-4 over his last seven starts with a 3.92 ERA. This looks the perfect pickins for the Braves to steal a game and take home advantage. Play Atlanta. |
10-08-21 | Dodgers v. Giants +109 | 0-4 | Win | 109 | 21 h 23 m | Show
The matchup most of us wanted to see is here as the top two teams in baseball this year meet here as the Giants host the Dodgers. Not only are these two teams hated rivals, but they have never in their storied histories met in the playoffs. So we are in for a dandy here in this series. The Dodgers needed a walk off home run from Taylor in the bottom of the 9th inning to get past a red-hot Cardinals team. They used up Max Scherzer in that game so tonight they turn to Walker Buehler who is 16-4 on the season with a 2.47 ERA. Buehler has been one of their top three this year and has given up just one run over his last 12 innings. He will face Logan Webb tonight. Webb is 11-3 with a 2.99 ERA and a 6-0 home record and 1.99 home ERA. Huge win for the Dodgers on Wednesday and I see them with a bit of a letdown here tonight. It's going to be a close game, but I'll take the Giants as a home dog in game one. |
10-07-21 | Red Sox v. Rays -147 | 0-5 | Win | 100 | 7 h 19 m | Show
Boston won an emotional Wild Card game on Wednesday over their hated rivals, the New York Yankees, 6-2. Now they travel South to face the Tampa Bay Rays. I have to wonder if they won't be in for a letdown here in game one after that big win. Eduardo Rodriquez will get the start tonight with his 12-8 record and 4.77 ERA. Rodrquez has bee pretty good over his last seven starts with a 3-1 record and 3.41 ERA. He will face off against Shane McClanahan who is 10-6 on the season with a 3.36 ERA. McClanahan has a 3-2 record and 2.65 ERA over his last seven starts. And, if you look at his last four starts, he's allowed just two total runs over 18 innings. I'm taking the Rays here tonight as they catch the Red Sox on the rebound from their big Wild Card win. Play Tampa Bay. |
10-07-21 | White Sox v. Astros -130 | 1-6 | Win | 100 | 3 h 19 m | Show
The Houston Astros and Chicago White Sox open their playoff series here tonight in Texas. The White Sox look to Lancy Lynn to steal a road game here tonight. Lynn has a 11-6 overall record on the season with a 2.69 ERA. He hasn't been very good of late though, going 1-3 over his last seven starts with a 4.10 ERA. He's had two very bad starts out of his last five outings. Lance McCullers will look to get the win for Houston. McCullers was 13-5 overall on the season with a 3.16 ERA. He's been slightly better of late, going 3-1 in his last seven starts with a 3.02 ERA. Unlike Lynn, McCullers has put together much more consistent starts of late. I like the Astros here in game one. Play Houston. |
10-06-21 | Cardinals +210 v. Dodgers | 1-3 | Loss | -100 | 9 h 18 m | Show
It seems a shame that a team that wins 106 regular season games is related to playing and one and done Wild Card game. But, that's what the Dodgers are doing after falling one game short of the Giants in the NL West. Now they also have to face the hottest team down the stretch in the Cardinals. St Louis won 17 straight games before losing a few at the end. Adam Wainwright, today's starter, was also a benefactor of that hot streak as the team has won his last eight starts and 13 of the last 14. Wainwright is 17-7 on the season with a 3.05 ERA. As for LA, they are forced to go with their best pitcher today in Max Scherzer. Scherzer was 15-4 on the season with a 2.46 ERA. However, he did falter in his last two starts, allowing 10 runs over 10 1/3 innings. So will he come out today the Scherzer who went five straight start without giving up a run, or the one who just gave up 10 runs in 10 1/3 innings? The price is high, over two dollars on Scherzer. I believe there is value in the underdog Cardinals today. At this +1.90 price how can you pass on a hot team with their best pitcher going. Take St Louis. |
10-05-21 | Yankees v. Red Sox +115 | Top | 2-6 | Win | 115 | 8 h 19 m | Show |
Don't get much better rivalries then the Yankees and Red Sox. And today we get the one and done AL Wild Card game. The Yankees needed a win in their last game to secure their playoff spot. They did lose three of of their last five games. And there is some concern about today's starter, Gerrit Cole. Cole did have an excellent season with a 16-8 record, but he also slumped in his final three starts. He allowed 15 runs over his last 17 2/3 innings of work. The Red Sox closed the season by sweeping the Washington Nationals. Though their last meeting with the Yankees in September they got swept. Nathan Eovaldi will start today's playoff game. Eovaldi is 11-9 on the season with a 3.70 ERA. He's been slightly better at home this season with a 6-4 record in his 19 home starts with a 3.39 ERA. Tough game here tonight, but I'll take the slight home dog here as I'm not sure about Cole and his recent play. Take the Red Sox. |
10-01-21 | Angels v. Mariners -150 | 2-1 | Loss | -150 | 10 h 34 m | Show
Who would have thought back in April that if you were talking the final weekend of the season that the Seattle Mariners are in position to grab a Wild Card spot would even be a topic. But they are tied with Boston for that 2nd spot right now, with Toronto one-game back. The M's have a great shot too as they host the Angels for this final weekend. Tonight, they will send Marco Gonzales to the hill. Gonzales is 10-5 on the season with a solid 3.80 ERA. He's 5-0 with a 3.35 ERA over his last seven starts with the team winning six of those seven. The Angels will start Jose Suarez who is 4-7 on the season with a 4.50 ERA. Suarez has been ok, not great. But for me, the Mariners with Gonzales are worth laying the price. |
09-30-21 | Rays v. Astros -145 | 2-3 | Win | 100 | 4 h 35 m | Show
Tampa Bay has the AL East locked up at this point. That means they can afford to use more of the players they brought up from the minors. Houston hasn't locked up the West yet, but they could do so tonight against the Rays. Houston has a 3.5 game lead over Seattle. Realistically, the Mariners have a better shot at the AL Wild Card at this point as they are just a half game back of that playoff spot. Tampa starts Collin Mchugh who has no record in six starts. He hasn't gone post 2 1/3 innings in any start so he won't be around long tonight. The Astros will start Lance McCullers, who is 12-5 on the season with a 3.17 ERA. McCullers has been very consistent this year both on the road and at home. He's slightly better of late with a 3-1 record and 3.02 ERA. I'll take Houston tonight and see if they can wrap up the division. Play Houston. |
09-28-21 | Brewers v. Cardinals +106 | Top | 2-6 | Win | 106 | 7 h 36 m | Show |
The St Louis Cardinals have won 16 straight games and unless they lose out the rest of the way, they should have the 2nd Wild Card spot locked-up. Today, they face the division leader in Milwaukee who has won three straight games. Brandon Woodruff will start today for the Brewers. Woodruff is 9-10 on the season with a 2.52 ERA. He's been worse of late, going 2-4 with a 3.55 ERA over his last seven starts. The Cardinals top pitcher goes today in Adam Wainwright. Wainwright is 16-7 on the season with a 3.05 ERA. He's been very good of late with a 5-0 record and team record of 7-0 in his last seven starts with a 2.37 ERA. Not sure why the Cardinals are a small dog here today, but I'll take it. Sure, they have to lose sometime, but until they do I'll take a shot on them at home as a dog. Play St Louis. |
09-22-21 | Cardinals +120 v. Brewers | 10-2 | Win | 120 | 6 h 22 m | Show
The St Louis Cardinals hold a 4-game lead over the Cincinnati Reds and a 4.5-game lead over the Philadelphia Phillies for the 2nd and last NL Wildcard spot. The Cards have been hot, winning 10 straight games and 12 of their last 13 games. The Brewers have the NL Central locked-up with a 9.5-game lead over the Cardinals. Miles Mikolas will start for the Cardinals. Mikolas is 1-2 in his seven starts with a 4.50 ERA. He is coming off his best start though, allowing just three hits and no runs over 5 2/3 innings against the Padres. He will face the Brewers' Brett Anderson who is 4-8 with a 4.18 ERA. Cardinals are red-hot and I'm sticking with that here tonight. Play St Louis. |
09-20-21 | Blue Jays -128 v. Rays | 4-6 | Loss | -128 | 5 h 53 m | Show
Tampa Bay has a fairly sizeable lead in the AL East of 6.5 games and doesn't look like that will be in trouble. Tonight they take on the third place AL East Toronto Blue Jays who are 7.5 games back. More import though is that the Jays hold that 2nd Wild Card spot right now with a 1 1/2-game lead over the Yankees. Robbie Ray will start tonight for the Jays with a 12-5 record and 2.64 ERA. Ray has been even better of late with a 3-0 record and 1.91 ERA in his last seven starts. The Rays will start their No. 1 prospect in Shane Baz, who last played for the USA in the Tokoyo Olympics and helped his team to a Silver Medal. Baz has been impressive in the minors. Baz is 5-4, 2.06 overall this season with Montgomery and Durham, striking out 113 in 78 2/3 innings and walking only 13. At Triple-A, he is 3-0. 1.76 in 10 games, with 69 strikeouts and 11 walks in 46 innings. I have to take a wait and see for the Rays starter, but Ray I know and will take a chance with. Play Toronto. |
09-18-21 | Padres v. Cardinals -114 | 2-3 | Win | 100 | 8 h 53 m | Show
Huge wild card series here as the Padres and Cardinals both fighting for that last playoff spot. First round goes to the Cardinals as they won last night over the Padres, 8-2. The Cardinals now lead the Reds by 1-games and the Padres by 1.5-games for that final spot. I'm sure we'll lots of movement in this are in these final games of the regular season. Yu Darvish starts today for the Padres. He's 8-10 on the season with a 4.32 ERA. He's been much worse of late, going 1-5 with a 7.86 ERA over his last seven starts. The Cards will send Adam Wainwright to the hill. Wainwright is 16-7 with a 2.88 ERA. Unlike Darvish, he's improved lately with a 6-1 record and 1.24 ERA over his last seven starts. I look for the Cardinals to take today's game and increase their Wildcard lead. Play St Louis |
09-13-21 | Cardinals -105 v. Mets | Top | 7-0 | Win | 100 | 4 h 33 m | Show |
The St Louis Cardinals closed out their series with the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday with a 2-0 win. Meanwhile, the Mets finished their Subway series with the Yankees. Both teams are still in the race for that final NL Wild Card slot. The Dodgers have the top spot locked at this point with a 16-game lead over the pack. The Padres and Reds are tied for the 2nd spot with the Cardinals one game back and the Mets 3.5-games back. The Cardinals start their best pitcher tonight in Adam Wainwright. Wainwright is 15-7 with a 2.98 ERA on the season. He's been even better recently, going 6-1 with a 1.57 ERA over his last seven starts. The Mets will start Rich Hill who is 6-6 on the season. Hill has a 3.71 overall ERA and slightly worse 4.01 home ERA. I like Wainwright and the Cardinals tonight who can get one step close to that Wild Card spot with a win. |
09-10-21 | Reds v. Cardinals +112 | Top | 4-2 | Loss | -100 | 9 h 48 m | Show |
The Cincinnati Reds have been slumping. They just lost two of three games to the Cubs and are now 3-7 in their last 10 games. Their road trip continues here tonight in St Louis. The Cardinals are in third place right behind the Reds, but both teams are double digits back in the race for the AL Central. The Card have won two straight games. They send veteran leftie Jon Lester to the hill tonight. Lester is 5-6 on the season with a 4.89 ERA. He's pitched well of late, allowing just one run in each of his last three starts and four of his last five starts. The Reds start Tyler Mahler who is 11-5 with a 3.70 ERA. Mahler is the Reds best pitcher, but consider Lester's good run and the Reds recent troubles, I'll take the home dog in this one. Play St Louis. |
09-08-21 | Reds v. Cubs +105 | Top | 1-4 | Win | 105 | 4 h 58 m | Show |
Cincinnati and Chicago have split the first two games of their series with the Cubs winning on Monday and the Reds on Tuesday, 4-3. The Reds have lost seven of their last 10 games while the Cubs have won eight of their last 10 games. Vladimir Gutierrez starts today for the Reds with a 9-6 record and 4.17 ERA. Alec Mills will toe the rubber for the Cubs with a 4-6 record and 3.57 ERA. The Cubs a small dog here tonight and they are even in pitching and are the hotter team. Play the Cubs. |
09-06-21 | Tigers -128 v. Pirates | 3-6 | Loss | -128 | 13 h 41 m | Show
Interleague action here today as the Detroit Tigers take on the Pittsburgh Pirates on this Labor Day Monday. The Tigers are coming off series at Cincinnati where they took two of three from the Reds. The Twins scored 26 runs over the three games to just 10 by the Reds. The Tigers will start Tarik Skubal today who is 8-11 with a 4.31 ERA. Skubal is coming off a poor start, allowing six runs to the A's over five innings. However, prior to that game he had allowed just four runs over his previous four starts (22 2/3 innings). The Pirates will start Bryse Wilson. Wilson is 2-6 on the season with a 4.61 ERA. He's worse of late, going 0-4 with a 4.78 ERA over his last sevens starts. Take the Tigers here on Monday. |

09-03-21 | Braves v. Rockies +125 | 3-4 | Win | 125 | 8 h 40 m | Show
The Colorado Rockies came up a bit short at home last night against Atlanta, losing 5-6 despite leading early in the game. The Rockies still have one of the top home team records in baseball at 43-23. The Braves are in first place in the NL East. They have lost six of their last 10 games on a difficult West Coast trip that has included the Giants and Dodgers. The Braves were swept by the Dodgers but took two of three from the Giants. The Braves start Huascar Ynoa tonight who is 4-4 on the season with a 2.95 ERA. The Rockies start Antonio Senzatela who is 3-9 overall with a 4.18 ERA. However at home that drops to 3.89 ERA and over his last seven starts it drops to 3.09 ERA. Senzatela has been very good of late and at home he's worth the dog price shot here. Play Colorado. |

09-01-21 | Red Sox v. Rays -112 | 3-2 | Loss | -112 | 5 h 27 m | Show
The Red Sox are in some Covid trouble right now, with eight members of their team having tested positive. That doesn't include the other two who are in quarantine for close contact. Kike Hernandez didn't play on Tuesday due to Covid along with four members of the bullpen. Xander Bogaerts was pulled after one inning after his latest test came back positive. And after all that the Red Sox lost 5-8. Now they have to play the first place Rays again tonight. They are already shorthanded. For me, doesn't matter who pitches in this game, a team can't be handcuffed like that and beat a first place team like Tampa Bay. Take the Rays. |

09-01-21 | Rockies -125 v. Rangers | Top | 9-5 | Win | 100 | 13 h 21 m | Show |
Colorado has lost back-to-back games to the Texas Rangers by the same score, 3-4. The Rockies will try to take the third game of this set that goes early here on Wednesday. The Rockies will send Kyle Freeland to the mound today. Freeland is 5-6 with a 4.17 ERA. He's been better of late, going 4-2 over his last seven starts with a 2.79 ERA. Freeland has given up two runs or fewers in six of his last seven games and has won five straight decisions. The Rangers will send Kohei Arihara to the hill. Arihara is 2-3 on the season with a lofty 6.59 ERA. He is 0-2 in his three home stars with a 11.32 ERA and 2.031 WHIP. Colorado is a very good home team, not so good on the road, but this is spot I can play them on the road. Take the Rockies. |

08-30-21 | Red Sox v. Rays -135 | Top | 1-6 | Win | 100 | 4 h 48 m | Show |
The first place Tampa Bay Rays have baseball's current longest win streak at seven games. Despite the Yankees being red-hot, the Rays have kept them at bay by winning nine of their last 10 games and 12 of their last 13. Unfortunately the Red Sox are stuck in the same division with the Rays and Yankees and therefore are 8-games back in the division. Boston starts Nick Pivetta here today. Pivetta is 9-6 on the season with a 4.57 ERA. He's been slightly worse of late with a 2-2 record and 5.34 ERA over his last seven starts. Luis Patino will toe the rubber for the Rays. Patino is 2-3 in his 10 starts this year with a 4.82 ERA. He's been better at home going 2-2 with a 2.28 ERA. I'm sticking with the red-hot Rays here on Monday. Play Tampa Bay. |
08-26-21 | Dodgers -127 v. Padres | Top | 4-0 | Win | 100 | 10 h 52 m | Show |
The Dodgers and Padres played the longest game of the season in baseball, a 16-inning contest the Dodgers won on A.J. Pollock's 2-run home run in the top of the 16th to win the game for LA, 5-3. The Padres found themselves without any position players early in extra innings and it cost them dearly. The Dodgers remained 2.5-games back of the Giants for 1st place in the NL West while the Padres dropped to 15-games back. The Padres have also lost three straight games and eight of their last 10. Max Scherzer starts for the Dodgers with a 11-4 record on the season and 2.65 ERA. Scherzer hasn't allowed more than two runs in his last five games. The Padres start Yu Darvish. Darvish had a good start to the season but has fallen on hard times. He's 7-7 on the season, but 0-5 in his his last seven starts with a 7.13 ERA. I'll take the Dodgers again here on Thursday. |
08-26-21 | Giants -114 v. Mets | 3-2 | Win | 100 | 8 h 53 m | Show
The Mets keep finding ways to lose these days. They led the Giants on Wednesday 2-1 going into the 7th inning before the Giants rallied for the win 3-2. The Giants held their 2.5 game lead in the NL West over the Dodgers. The Mets have fallen to 7-games back in the NL East after losing eight of their last 10 games. Alex Wood starts for the Giants today. Wood is 10-4 on the season with a 4.11 ERA. Wood has allowed just two earned runs in each of his last two starts. The Mets will turn to Carlos Carrasco today. Carrasco is 0-2 in five starts with a 8.82 ERA. The Mets woes will continue tonight. Take the Giants. |
08-25-21 | Dodgers -138 v. Padres | Top | 5-3 | Win | 100 | 10 h 21 m | Show |
The Dodgers are inching closer to NL West leader San Francisco. The Dodgers have won nine of their last 10 games and now trail the Giants by just 2.5-games in the NL West. The Padres are pretty much out of the race in the NL West, now 14-games back after losing eight of their last 10 games. The Dodgers start Walker Buehler tonight with his 13-2 record and 2.11 ERA and 0.930 WHIP. The Padres will start Yu Darvish or Snell tonight. Either starter will have a tough go tonight. Darvish is just 7-7 with a 3.70 ERA. Darvish is 0-5 in his last seven starts with a 7.13 ERA. No matter who the Padres start, I will take the Dodgers here on Wednesday. |

08-25-21 | Rays +126 v. Phillies | 7-4 | Win | 126 | 7 h 16 m | Show
Tampa Bay continues to hold onto that first place lead in the AL East, now 4-games ahead of the surging Yankees. With the Yankees having won 11-straight games they have closed the gap in a hurry. The Phillies have lost seven of their last 10 games and dropped to 4.5-games back of 1st place Atlanta Braves. The Rays will start Ryan Yarbrough today. Yarbrough is 4-4 on the season with a 4.91 ERA. Zack Wheeler will start for the Phillies. Wheeler is 10-8 with a 2.77 ERA. He's been slightly worse of late, going 4-3 with a 4.04 ERA over his last seven games. I'll take the Rays here today against a struggling Phillies team. |
08-24-21 | Yankees v. Braves -132 | Top | 5-4 | Loss | -132 | 9 h 5 m | Show |
The Yankees are 6.5-games back in the AL East after splitting their last 10 games. They opened this IL series with the Braves with a win on Monday, 5-1. The Braves lost their first game in their last 10 with that loss last night to the Yankees. Still, they are 9-1 over their last 10 and have increased their lead in the NL East to 4.5-games over the Phillies. The Yankees start Andrew Heaney tonight, who is 8-8 on the season with a 5.51 ERA. Charlie Morton will start for the Braves. Morton is 12-4 with a 3.41 ERA. I look for the Braves to rebound here tonight. Play Atlanta. |
08-24-21 | Rays -116 v. Phillies | 3-1 | Win | 100 | 9 h 50 m | Show
Another IL contest here today on Tuesday has the 1st place AL East Tampa Bay Rays taking on the 2nd Place NL East Philadelphia Phillies. The Rays have won two straight games and seven of their last 10-games as they opened up a 4-game lead on the Yankees. Philadelphia has lost six of its last 10 games and dropped to 4.5-games back of the Braves. Drew Rasmussen will start for the Rays. Rasmussen makes just his fifth start with no record and a 2.77 ERA. Ranger Suarez starts for the Phillies with a 0-1 record in his four starts this year. Suarez has a 2.45 ERA. Both starters have small resumes, but the Rays are the better team right now. Play Tampa Bay. |
08-23-21 | Rockies v. Cubs -122 | Top | 4-6 | Win | 100 | 6 h 31 m | Show |
The Rockies are a excellent home team, however, they are not good on the road. Away from Coor's the Rockies are just 14-45 with the fewest road wins in baseball. The Cubs are not good since they traded away most of their high priced talent. They have lost three straight and eight of their last 10 games. The one bright spot is tonight's starter, Kyle Hendricks. Henricks is 14-5 on the season with a 4.04 ERA. He's coming off an excellent outing at Cincinnati where he allowed just one run and three hits over six innings for the win. With the Rockies so bad on the road and the Cubs best pitcher on the hill, I'll take Chicago tonight. |
