06-15-19 | Yankees -150 v. White Sox | Top | 8-4 | Win | 100 | 9 h 59 m | Show |
My biggest play on Friday was against these Yankees, but it was really because I liked Giolito so much for the Sox and he didn't disappoint with a blowout win for my AL Situational Game of the Year winner. Today, I'm switching over to the visiting Yankees. The Yanks have lost three straight and will turn to Chad Green to stop that streak. Green is 0-0 in his four starts with a 4.76 ERA and 1.587 WHIP. Green is one of those relievers who's asked to start and go a couple of innings, like the Rays do with Stanek. Green has held his last two opponents to no runs, so maybe it will work for the Yankees too. In face, the Yankees have won all four games they have put Green on the mound to start. The White Sox will counter with Reynaldo Lopez. Lopez is 4-6 in his 14 starts with a 6.21 ERA and 1.606 WHIP. Lopez had a decent start last time out, but prior to that one he allowed 19 runs over 13 2/3 innings. I'll take the Yankees here today as they look to their pen to win this one for them. Take NY Yankees. |
06-15-19 | Rangers +106 v. Reds | 4-3 | Win | 106 | 18 h 54 m | Show
The Texas Rangers took Friday's Interleague game with the Cincinnati Reds, 7-1. The win snapped a two-game losing streak for the Rangers. Texas is in 2nd place in the AL West, however they are nine games back of the Astros for the division lead. Mike Minor will get the start today for the Rangers. Minor is 5-4 in his 14 start with a nifty 2.52 ERA and 1.175 WHIP. Minor has been very consistent, allowing three runs or fewer in nine straight starts. In addition, he's allowed just two runs over his last 13 2/3 innings with four walks and 13 KO's. The Reds have now lost five of their last seven games and seven of their last 10. The Reds will send Tanner Roark to the hill tonight. Roark is 4-5 in his 13 starts with just two quality outings. Roark has a 3.74 ERA and 1.411 WHIP. In addition, Roark has allowed eight runs over his last 11 innings of work. I like the visitor here tonight. Take Texas. |
06-15-19 | Brewers v. Giants +102 | 7-8 | Win | 102 | 5 h 24 m | Show
The Giants won their third game in a row on Saturday with their win over the Brewers, 5-3. However, the Giants are still in last in the NL West, some 17 games back of the Dodgers. Today, they will try for four straight wins with Madison Bumgarner on the hill. Bumgarner is 3-6 on the season with a 3.72 ERA and 1.161 WHIP. Bumgarner has pitched well, allowing three runs or fewer in seven of his last eight starts. The Brewers lost for just the second time in their last seven games last night. They will turn to Jimmy Nelson today. Nelson only has one start under his belt this year, going three innings and allowing five runs along with three walks and two KO's. Despite not having started this year, Nelson was installed as a 2.50 favorite in that game and lost to the Marlins. 3-8. Now, here he is again, a road favorite over the Giants. I'm not sold on Nelson who's only start was less than even average. I'll take the Giants here as a small dog. Play San Francisco. |
06-14-19 | Brewers -139 v. Giants | 3-5 | Loss | -139 | 9 h 5 m | Show
Milwaukee holds a one-game lead over the Cubs for the NL Central lead. The 39-29 Brewers start a 3-game series at San Francisco after two games at Houston that they split. Zach Davies will start tonight with a 7-0 record and 2.41 ERA. Davies has been very good for this club as the team is 9-4 in his 13 starts. The Giants will counter with Drew Pomeranz. Pomeranz is 1-6 in his 11 starts with a very poor 7.16 ERA and 1.750 WHIP. This game looks like a no-brainer to me. I'm taking Milwaukee. |
06-14-19 | Yankees v. White Sox -110 | Top | 2-10 | Win | 100 | 21 h 28 m | Show |
The White Sox keep fighting to get back to the .500 mark and they are so close. Tjhe Good news is that they have their Ace and maybe the best pitcher in baseball right now in Lucas Giolito on the hill. What I love about tonight's situation is that I can get this awesome pitcher at just a 1.10 price as of right now. Giolito is 9-1 in his 12 starts this season with a nifty 2.28 ERA and 0.920 WHIP. Giolito has struck out 30 batters in his last three starts (23 innings) with just three walks. This is a huge reason that WHIP is so low. Plus, the White Sox have won his last eight starts with Giolito winning seven of those. I can't give enough accolades to this starter tonight, yet here he is just a 1.10 favorite at home. The reason? Well, he's facing the Yankees. CC Sabathia will start this game for the Yanks. Sabathia is 3-3 in his 10 starts, but he has just two quality starts during that time. Sabathia has allowed 11 runs over his last 16 innings and the Yankees have lost his last two starts. I will be jumping all over the Sox tonight with Giolito on the hill. Play Chicago. |
06-14-19 | Pirates v. Marlins -115 | 11-0 | Loss | -115 | 6 h 60 m | Show
Pittsburgh has fallen on hard times as they bring a 7-game losing streak into tonight's game at Miami. The Pirates just got swept on the road by both Atlanta and Milwaukee. Now the road trip continues to Miami. Steven Brault will start with a 1-0 record in his five starts. Brault has a 4.24 ERA and 1.586 WHIP. His Whip is high because he walks a lot of batters. Miami will start Trevor Richards. Richards is only 3-6, but has a decent 3.31 ERA. Richards has been very good of late, allowing just three runs in his last four starts (24 2/3 innings). The way Richards is pitching and the Pirates are playing, I'm on Miami here tonight. Play Miami. |
06-13-19 | Diamondbacks -116 v. Nationals | Top | 5-0 | Win | 100 | 7 h 52 m | Show |
The Arizona Diamondbacks just trying to stay in the rear view mirror of the NL West leading Dodgers. The D'backs are now 36-33 after yesterday's win over Philly, 2-0. Arizona has now won six of their last seven games. They start their Ace today, Zach Greinke. Greinke is 7-2 in his 14 starts with 12 quality starts under his belt. Greinke has a nice 2.87 ERA and 0.935 WHIP. Greinke has allowed 1 run or fewer in three of his last five games. Washington will counter with Erick Fedde. Fedde is 1-0 in his four starts with just one quality start. Fedde has a 2.70 ERA, but has walked six batters in his last 15 innings. Jury still out on Fedde until he gets more starts under his belt. But with Greinke we know we get a quality starter who has put together lots of quality starts this season. I'm making a big play today on Arizona. |
06-12-19 | Reds v. Indians -130 | Top | 7-2 | Loss | -130 | 3 h 47 m | Show |
Another rivalry game here today as the NL's Cincinnati Reds take on the AL's Cleveland Indians. The Reds are in last place in the NL Central with a 29-36 record. They will look to Anthony Desclafini today. Desclafini is 2-3 in his 12 starts with a 4.70 ERA and 1.348 WHIP. Desclafini had one of his best starts last time out, going 5-innings with just one earned run allowed. However, Desclafini has not received any run support, getting 2 runs or less in three of his last four starts. The Indians are in 2nd place in the AL Central, but they trail Minnesota by 10 1/2 games. They will start Zach Plesac today with a 1-1 record in his three starts. Pleasac returned to the starting lineup in late May and has pitched very well with a 1.89 ERA and 0.879 WHIP. Plesac looks very good and we only have a small line to fade here today. I'm taking the Indians early today. |
06-11-19 | Pirates +136 v. Braves | 5-7 | Loss | -100 | 7 h 59 m | Show
The Pittsburgh Pirates bring a 4-game losing streak into tonight's contest at Atlanta. The Bucs have fallen to 30-25 with this losing streak. They will turn to Chris Archer to break that streak tonight. Archer is 3-5 in his 10 starts with a 5.20 ERA and 1.453 WHIP. However, Archer is coming off his best start of the season where he went six innings vs these Braves, allowed six hits and just one run. The Braves have won four straight as they look for their fifth here tonight. The Braves will send Mike Foltynewicz to the hill. Foltynewicz has a 1-5 record with a 5.89 ERA and 1.263 WHIP. Foltynewicz faced these Bucs and Archer in his last start, going six innings and allowing three runs as he suffered the loss 1-6. Rematch here tonight of the matchup last Thursday and I look for the same outcome as last time. Take Pittsburgh as a nice dog. |
06-11-19 | A's v. Rays -150 | Top | 4-3 | Loss | -150 | 7 h 48 m | Show |
Tampa Bay has one of the best records in baseball at 41-24. Tonight they face the 33-34 Oakland A's. The Rays will do their relief pitcher starting as Ryan Stankek will once again toe the rubber. Stankek has 18 starts, all two innings or fewer. Stankek has a 1.84 ERA and 0.955 WHIP. The Rays are also 12-6 in the game Stanek has started. The A's will counter with Michael Fiers. Fiers has a 5-3 record, but a bit high on the ERA of 4.78. Fiers is a solid starter, but I'm taking the Rays here tonight and their starting pitcher by relieve. Play Tampa Bay. |
06-11-19 | Mets +182 v. Yankees | 10-4 | Win | 182 | 7 h 43 m | Show
The Mets and Yankees renew their Subway series here today in the Bronx. The Mets bring a 2-game win streak into tonight's rivalry while the Yankees carry a one-game win streak. The Mets will start Jason Vargas tonight. Vargas is 2-3 on the season with a very respectable 2.84 ERA and 1.286 WHIP. Vargas has allowed just two total runs over his last three starts (21 innings) including a complete game shut-out of the Giants last time out. James Paxton will toe the rubber tonight for the Yankees. Paxton is 3-2 in his nine starts with a 3.11 ERA. Paxton is coming off a loss at Toronto, allowing four runs over 4 2/3 innings of work. Not only do we get the hotter pitcher tonight in game 2, but we get a huge dog price too. Take the Mets tonight. |
06-09-19 | Cardinals v. Cubs -159 | Top | 1-5 | Win | 100 | 9 h 48 m | Show |
The Cubs staked St Louis to four runs in the top of the first inning yesterday and shut them down after that, rallying for nine unanswered runs for the win. It was the Cubs 2nd win in a row over the Cardinals and the team's fifth win in the last six games. Today, they send Kyle Hendricks to the hill. Hendricks is 6-4 in his 12 starts with a 3.16 ERA and 1.104 WHIP. Hendricks has been a solid pitcher with the team winning six of his last seven starts. That coming after Hendricks started the season losing his first three games and four of his first five. The Cardinals dropped to 31-31 on the season with the loss yesterday and can fall under .500 with another today. Adam Wainwright will try to keep that from happening today. Wainwright is 5-5 in his 12 starts with a 4.21 ERA and 1.372 WHIP. Wainwright had his best start of the season last time out against these Cubs, allowing no runs and just two hits over eight innings. Can he do it back-to-back? I don't think so. I look for the Cubs to take to sweep this series here today at home. Play Chicago. |
06-08-19 | Cardinals v. Cubs +104 | 4-9 | Win | 104 | 9 h 59 m | Show
The Chicago Cubs took game one of this series with their rival St Louis Cardinals, 3-1 on Friday. The win was their fourth in the last five games. Today, they start veteran Jon Lester. Lester is 4-4 in his 11 starts with a respectable 3.32 ERA and 1.307 WHIP. Lester had an excellent start last time out, going seven strong innings with just four hits and one run to the Angels. The Cardinals are in 3rd place in the NL Central with a 31-30 record. Jack Flaherty will start today with a 4-3 record in his 12 starts. Flaherty has a 3.76 ERA and 1.144 WHIP. These pitchers are very evenly matched here today, but I give the edge to the home club. I'm taking the Cubs at an excellent price. Play Chicago. |
06-08-19 | White Sox -129 v. Royals | Top | 2-0 | Win | 100 | 14 h 4 m | Show |
The White Sox losing streak was extended to 3-games with the loss to the Royals on Friday night, 4-6. The Royals snapped their 6-game losing streak with the win. The Sox will start their Ace of the staff today in Lucas Giolito. Giolito is 8-1 in his 11 starts with a 2.54 ERA and 0.951 WHIP. Giolio has been excellent, allowing three runs or fewer in each of his last eight starts. In fact, in six of those eight he allowed one or no runs. The Royals will counter with Brad Keller who is 3-7 in his 13 starts. Keller has a 4.50 ERA with a 1.449 WHIP. Keller has not been near as successful as Gioloto has been this season and with that I expect the White Sox to take game 2 here on Saturday. Play Chicago White Sox. |
06-07-19 | White Sox +112 v. Royals | 4-6 | Loss | -100 | 9 h 4 m | Show
Two teams both in need of a win meet here today as the Royals host the White Sox to start their series. The Sox come in with a 2-game losing streak while the Royals are riding a 6-game losing streak. The Royals have one of the worst records in baseball this year at just 19-43. Homer Bailey will start today for the Royals with a 4-6 record and 6.05 WHIP. The Royals have lost Bailey's last four starts. The White Sox will counter with Ivan Nova who is 3-5 on the season with a 6.24 ERA and 1.643 WHIP. However, Nova has a couple of decent starts to build on, going 12 innings and allowing just four earned runs. Neither pitcher all that great, but the Royals aren't the worst team in baseball for no reason. Take Chicago here today. |
06-06-19 | Braves -117 v. Pirates | 1-6 | Loss | -117 | 2 h 13 m | Show
The Braves and Pirates have split the first two games of this series with the rubber game today. The Braves lost last night 4-7 but won on Tuesday, 12-5. Mike Foltynewicz today. Foltynewicz is having a down season with a 1-4 record and 6.10 ERA this season. Folty has shown flashes of his 2018 brilliance though. The Pirates snapped a three-game losing streak with yesterday's win. The Pirates have not put back-to-back wins together since Mid-May! Chris Archer will try and change that today for the Bucs. Archer is 2-5 on the season with a 5.66 ERA and 1.468 WHIP. Archer, like Folty, has also struggled this year as he's allowed four runs or more in four of his last five starts. I like the Braves here early on Thursday. Take Atlanta. |
06-04-19 | Reds -120 v. Cardinals | 4-1 | Win | 100 | 10 h 7 m | Show
The St Louis Cardinals have won four straight games and now trail first place Milwaukee by just three games in the NL Central. The Reds sit in last place in the division, however they are just 6 1/2 games back in what is the closest division race in the NL. The Reds will start their Ace today in Luis Castillo. Castillo is 5-1 in his 12 starts this season with a 2.45 ERA and 1.105 WHIP. Castillo has the most wins on the staff and the best ERA by far. St Louis will give Genesis Cabrera his second start of the season. In his first, he went just 3 2/3 innings, allowed five hits and five runs and took the loos by the Phillies. The Reds are a small road favorite here today, but that's fine as their is a big difference in pitching today. I like the Reds with their Ace on the hill. Play Cincinnati. |
06-04-19 | Twins +129 v. Indians | Top | 2-5 | Loss | -100 | 23 h 49 m | Show |
The Minnesota Twins are running away with the AL Central, now 11 1/2 games ahead of the White Sox and the Indians. The Twins have won three straight games and average 6.0 runs per game. Devin Smeltzer makes just his second start of the season today. Smeltzer went six innings in his only previous outing, allowing three hits and no runs. He also struck out seven and walked none. The Indians can't afford to lose these games or they will be out of both the division and Wildcard races. Shane Bieber will toe the rubber today for the Tribe. Bieber is 4-2 in his 11 starts with a 3.65 ERA and 1.080 WHIP. Bieber did get hit hard in his last start at Boston, allowing eight hits and six runs over five innings. Even though Smeltzer has only one start, that was an excellent one and I am going to take him again here today. Play Minnesota. |
06-02-19 | Red Sox v. Yankees +110 | Top | 8-5 | Loss | -100 | 8 h 37 m | Show |
Sunday Night action here on Sunday has two old rivals set to continue their battle. The Yankees are in first place in the AL East with a 28-19 record, 2 1/2 games ahead of Tampa Bay and 9 1/2 ahead of the Red Sox. The Sox are just .500 on the season at 29-29 and have now lost four straight games. David Prices starts for the Red Sox with a 2-2 mark on the season and a 2.83 ERA and 1.03 WHIP. The Yankees will counter with CC Sabathia. Sabathia is 3-1 this season and has a 3.48 ERA with 1.26 WHIP. Both these pitchers are veterans with lots of experience against the other. However, it's no doubt the Yankees are the better team right now. I'm taking the Yankees tonight. |
06-02-19 | Indians v. White Sox -110 | 0-2 | Win | 100 | 3 h 43 m | Show
The Cleveland Indians and Chicago White Sox had better get it in gear or the AL Central will be out of their reach by the All Star Game. The Minnesota Twins lead the Indians by 10 1/2 games and the White Sox by 11 1/2 games. The Indians will start Zach Plesac today. Plesac has one start and that was at Boston where he went 5 1/3 innings and allowed four hits and one run. The Sox will counter with Lucas Giolito who is 7-1 on the season with a 2.85 ERA and 0.98 WHIP. Plesac might be the real deal, but one start doesn't tell us a lot. However, Giolito is the real deal as he's been the best starter for the Sox this year. I'm taking Chicago here on Sunday. |
06-01-19 | Astros -150 v. A's | Top | 5-1 | Win | 100 | 10 h 22 m | Show |
Houston improved to 38-20 with their win on Friday over the A's. The Astros are running away with the AL West as the next team is Oakland with a 29-28 record. Today's starter, Justin Verlander, has been as hot as any pitcher and right now a leading candidate for the AL Cy Young. Verlander is 9-2 in his 12 starts with 10 quality starts. Verlander has a 2.38 ERA and 0.744 WHIP. In addition, Verlander has allowed five earned runs over his last four starts (29 innings) with just five walks and 35 KO's. The Oakland A's have lost three straight games and will have a tough time today against the Astros. The A's will start Brett Anderson who has pitched well with a 6-3 record in his 11 starts with a 3.86 ERA. The only reason the line is as reasonable on the Astros as it is, is because of Anderson for the A's. Still, the Astros with Verlander is a lethal combination. Take Houston. |
05-31-19 | Twins v. Rays -125 | 5-3 | Loss | -125 | 6 h 3 m | Show
Tampa Bay brings a 6-game win streak into today's contest with the Twins. Both clubs are having fine seasons thus far with Minnesota at 37-18 and the Rays at 35-19. The Twins in first place in the AL Central and really are looking to run away with this division as the nearest team are the Indians at 28-28. Jose Berrios starts today with a 7-2 mark in his 11 starts with a 3.20 ERA and 1.151 WHIP. The Rays have one of the best pitching staffs in baseball and during the last nine games (8-1 record) they have allowed three runs or less in each contest. Ryan Stanek gets the start today and as usual, he'll go one or two innings at most. The Rays are 11-4 when they start Stanek and the hard throwing righty has allowed a run just twice in his 15 starts. I like this system they use to start Stanek as it's worked all season long. Take Tampa Bay here on Friday. |
05-31-19 | Brewers -115 v. Pirates | Top | 4-9 | Loss | -115 | 9 h 5 m | Show |
Milwaukee took game one of this series with the Pirates on Thursday, 11-5. It was the third win in four nights for the NL Central leading Brewers. The NL Central has all five teams with at least 26 wins, so the Brewers can't let their guard down in this division. Today, they start Jhoulys Chacin. Chacin is just 3-6 on the season with a 4.88 ERA and 1.374 WHIP. Chacin has lost three straight games and looks to snap his personal losing streak tonight. Chacin hasn't pitched poorly, allowing eight earned runs over his last three starts (16 innings). Meanwhile, the Pirates have lost eight of their last 11 games to fall to 27-28. They will counter with Chris Archer. Archer is 1-5 in his eight starts and the team is just 1-7 in his starts. Archer has a 5.75 ERA and 1.549 WHIP. Walks have been a big issue for Archer with 12 free passes in his last 13 2/3 innings. Both these pitchers have had their struggles, but the Brewers are the better team with the better pitcher. I like the Brewers a lot here tonight. Play Milwaukee. |
05-30-19 | Brewers -120 v. Pirates | Top | 11-5 | Win | 100 | 14 h 1 m | Show |
Pittsburgh snapped a two-game losing streak with a win at Cincinnati on Wednesday, 7-2. The win evened the Bucs season record at 27-27. Joe Musgrove will start today for the Bucs with a 3-5 record in his 10 starts. Musgrove has a 4.74 ERA and 1.211 WHIP and is coming off one of his worst starts. Musgrove allowed six runs over five innings last start to the Dodgers in a loss. The Brewers had Wednesday off after a two-game series split against the Twins. The Brewers are holding onto first place in the NL Central, just ahead of the surging Cubs. Chase Anderson starts today for the Brewers. Anderson is 1-0 in his four starts with a 2.55 ERA and 1.302 WHIP. Anderson has had two starts where's allowed no runs this season and the other two he's allowed four and three runs. The Brewers are a small favorite here on Thursday and I like them in this spot with Anderson on the hill. Play Milwaukee |
05-29-19 | Pirates +140 v. Reds | 7-2 | Win | 140 | 4 h 13 m | Show
The Pirates lost at the Reds yesterday, 6-11. The Reds are up 2-1 in this series with the final game today. So far these teams are 2-0-1 O/U/P. This morning I'm looking at the OVER between these two teams. The Pirates have gone over in seven of the last eight with one push and are 10-1-1 O/U/P their last 12 games. Steven Brault gets only his third start of the season. Brault has a 9.39 ERA with a 2.086 WHIP thus far. The Reds have also been a good over team with two straight overs and a 6-0-1 O/U/P record their last seven. Anthony Descalfani starts today with a 4.99 ERA and 1.315 WHIP. Neither of these pitchers are all that good and both teams have been great over plays of late. I'm making my play on the OVER here this morning. |
05-29-19 | Padres +125 v. Yankees | Top | 0-7 | Loss | -100 | 3 h 34 m | Show |
Interleague action this morning has the Padres playing at the Yankees. San Diego lost game one of this series and then took game two yesterday, 5-4. The Padres are now 29-26 on the season and in 2nd place in the NL West. Chris Paddack will start this morning with a 4-2 record and a 1.93 ERA. Paddack also has a great WHIP of just 0.760. Paddack has not allowed more than three runs in any of his nine starts this season and the Padres are now 7-2 in his starts. The Yankees will counter with James Paxton. Paxton is 3-2 in his seven starts with a 3.11 ERA and 1.195 WHIP. Paxton is coming off just a three-inning outing where he gave up 2 hits and no runs but had three walks. Paxton was forced from the game with a sore knee. This is an ongoing problem he's had all season. Still, Paxton will get the start today. I can't pass on the Padres as a nice dog here today with a very good Paddack on the hill. Especially since I'm not sure how healthy Paxton will be today. Take San Diego. |
05-28-19 | Pirates +106 v. Reds | 6-11 | Loss | -100 | 8 h 25 m | Show
The Pittsburgh Pirates dropped by to the .500 mark with their loss on Monday. Good news is that they have one of the hottest pitchers in baseball on the mound today in Jordan Lyles. Lyles is 5-1 in his nine starts with a nifty 2.80 ERA and 1.091 WHIP. The Pirates do great with Lyles on the hill, going 8-1 and a perfect 4-0 on the road. In fact, Lyles has been even better on the road with a 1.96 ERA and 0.913 WHIP. The Reds lost on Monday to the Pirates, 5-8 and will look to Lucas Sims to debut in the rotation today. Sims is in the emergency starter role with Castillo and Gray both pitching on Monday's doubleheader. I like the Pirates here who have been almost perfect with Lyles on the hill. Play Pittsburgh. |
05-27-19 | Angels v. A's -140 | Top | 5-8 | Win | 100 | 5 h 26 m | Show |
The Angels took their last two games of the series from the Rangers, including Sunday 7-6. The Rangers will go for three in a row today with Trevor Cahill. Cahill is 2-4 on the season with a 6.43 ERA and 1.327 WHIP. Cahill has not been consistent this season but will look to build on a good last outing where he allowed just one run over five innings. Meanwhile Oakland has now won 9-straight games after sweeps of Detroit, Cleveland and Seattle. The A's pitching has been outstanding while their bats have provided plenty of punch during the streak. Chris Bassitt will start today with a 2-1 record and 2.48 ERA. Bassitt has been consistent in his six starts, allowing three runs or less in each. The line has dropped from over 165 to a respectable 140's now and I'm going to take the A's at that price. Play Oakland. |
05-26-19 | Diamondbacks -113 v. Giants | Top | 6-2 | Win | 100 | 6 h 33 m | Show |
Arizona is looking for the sweep today over the Giants. But, not only a sweep, but a total domination. The Diamiondbacks took game one, 18-2 and then yesterday exploded again for a 10-4 win. That's a 28-6 domination through the first two games. Luke Weaver gets the nod today for the D'backs with his 3-3 record in his 10 starts. Weaver has a very respectable 3.14 ERA and 1.064 WHIP. In fact, Weaver has not allowed more than three earned runs in any of his last nine starts. The Giants continue to have a horrid year at 21-30 and last place in the NL West. The Giants have lost four straight and six of their last nine games. Shaun Anderson gets the start today. Anderson has no record in his two starts for the Giants with a 3.80 ERA and 1.300 WHIP. Anderson has pitched well enough, but has yet to go past five innings of work. Still, the D'back just too good at this point for me to pass on here today. Play Arizona. |

05-26-19 | Rays +104 v. Indians | 6-3 | Win | 104 | 3 h 37 m | Show
Tampa Bay has taken two of three from the Indians in this series after yesterday's win, 6-2. Now they start reliever Ryan Stanek today. Stanek has started 13 games this season and has gone from one to two innings. The Rays are now 9-4 in the games he's started. Stanek has allowed runs in just two of his 13 starts. The Indians look for the split here today. They also look to turn around a stretch that has seen the club lose five of their last six games. Trevor Bauer will get the start today. Bauer has a 4-3 record with a 3.95 ERA and 1.174 WHIP. Bauer has been hit hard of late, allowing 11 earned runs over his last two starts (11 innings). I like Stanek in these spots and today we get him and the Rays as a short dog price. Play Tampa Bay. |
05-25-19 | Rangers +118 v. Angels | 2-3 | Loss | -100 | 12 h 55 m | Show
The Rangers have now improved to 25-23 thanks to a 5-game win streak. The Rangers swept the Mariners and now have taken game one of this series with the Angels, 4-3. Mike Minor will start game two here tonight for the Rangers. Minor is 5-3 in his 10 starts with a nifty 2.64 ERA and 1.129 WHIP. Minor has won two straight starts, allowing three earned runs over 11 innings with three walks and 14 KO's. The Angels have dropped to 22-28 and have lost five straight games and seven of the last nine. Tyler Skaggs will start tonight for the Halos. Skaggs is 4-4 in his eight starts with a 5.01 ERA and 1.403 WHIP. Skags has allowed 14 runs over his last 15 2/3 innings and yet here he is a favorite tonight. Now sure how that is when the Rangers are not only hot, but have a much better starter on the hill. I like dogs, but I think the line has the wrong favorite here tonight. Take Texas. |
05-25-19 | Braves -112 v. Cardinals | Top | 3-6 | Loss | -112 | 18 h 53 m | Show |
The Atlanta Braves improved to 29-23 and brings a 3-game win streak into tonight's contest at St Louis. The Braves will start Mike Soroka with a 5-1 record in his last seven starts. Soroka has been very good this season with just a 1.01 ERA and 0.873 WHIP. Soroka has been so good this year that he has yet to allow over one earned run in any of his starts. The Cardinals will turn to Dakota Hudson tonight who is 3-3 in his 9-starts with a 4.47 ERA and 1.705 WHIP. Walks have been an issue this season for Hudson, allowing at least two in each of his last three starts. The Braves have been brilliant with Soroka on the hill and this is a small price to pay with such a strong pitcher. Take Atlanta. |
05-24-19 | Rays -133 v. Indians | 1-3 | Loss | -133 | 4 h 3 m | Show
Tampa Bay pushed back Blake Snell to today's contest and started Yarbourough in his place on Thursday. The Rays easily beat the Indians in game one of their four-game series, 7-2. Snell will get the start today in game two. Snell is only 3-4 in his nine starts, but has a solid 3.31 ERA and 1.000 WHIP. Snell has been very good of late, allowing just three total runs over his last three starts (17 2/3 innings). The Indians look to snap their 4-game losing streak here this evening behind Shane Bieber. Beiber is 3-2 in his nine starts with a 3.18 ERA and 0.988 WHIP. Beiber is coming off his best start of the season, a complete game shutout of the Orioles, scattering five hits over nine innings and striking out 15! It's hard to pass on such a quality pitcher like Snell in this kind of spot. I'm going to take him again here on Friday. Play Tampa Bay. |
05-24-19 | Marlins +128 v. Nationals | 10-12 | Loss | -100 | 4 h 57 m | Show
The Miami Marlins all of a sudden have been winning. Yes, they are still 16-31 on the season, but they have also won six straight games and really are just three fewer wins then the Nationals tonight who are 19-31. Pablo Lopez will start tonight for the Marlins with a 3-5 record in his nine starts. Lopez has a 5.06 ERA but looks to build on his fine outing last time. Lopez when seven innings and allowed just one hit and no runs to the Mets his last time out. Lopez is a all or nothing kind of guy right now. The Nationals look to snap their five-game losing streak tonight. The pitching has been terrible, allowing 29 runs during that span. The Nats are spot starting Kyle McGowin tonight. With both Sanchez and Hellickson on the DL, the Nats have had to go to the farm system for tonight's starter. McGowin has a 4.32 ERA and 1.30 WHIP in his eight Triple-A starts this year. I like the Marlins here tonight. They are a dog and Lopez has shown he can put together great starts. Play Miami. |
05-23-19 | Twins -133 v. Angels | Top | 16-7 | Win | 100 | 5 h 22 m | Show |
This matchup was postponed from yesterday, so both pitchers got an extra day rest for this game. The first place Minnesota Twins bring a 2-game win streak into today's contest at the Angels. The Twins took last Tuesday's contest with LA, 8-3 and have taken the first two of this series. The Twins start Martin Perez tonight. Perez is 5-1 in his seven starts and has been amazing this season with a 2.01 ERA and 1.052 WHIP. Perez has allowed just four total earned runs over his last four starts (26 2/3 innings). The Angels continue to struggle, losing three straight and six of their last nine games. They will turn to veteran Matt Harvey tonight. Harvey has also struggled this year, posting a 2-3 record with a lofty 6.35 ERA and 1.434 WHIP. No contest for me here tonight. The first place Twins with a very good pitcher on the hill against a struggling Angels and Harvey. I'm all over the Twins tonight. |
05-23-19 | Phillies v. Cubs -119 | 9-7 | Loss | -119 | 4 h 42 m | Show
Philadelphia looks to snap their modest 2-game losing streak today as they face their Chicago Cubs. The Phillies are 28-21 and will turn to Aaron Nola today. Nola is 4-0 in his 10 starts with a 4.47 ERA and 1.548 WHIP. Nola has pitched well of late, allowing just one run in each of four of five recent starts. The Cubs have a 2-game win streak heading into this game. Veteran Jon Lester will toe the rubber today. Lester is 3-2 in his eight starts with a 2.09 ERA and 1.256 WHIP. Lester had been brilliant until his last start where he was roughed-up for 10 hits and five runs over 4 1/3 innings by the Nationals. I look for Lester to rebound here today and get us the WIN! Play the Cubs. |
05-23-19 | Rockies +130 v. Pirates | 6-14 | Loss | -100 | 11 h 3 m | Show
Colorado took game one of this series on Wednesday, 9-3. The Rockies win snapped a four-game losing streak as the Rocks improved to 22-25 on the season. The Rockies will start Antonio Senzatela here this morning. Senzatela has a 3-3 record in his seven starts with a 4.89 ERA and 1.448 WHIP. Pittsburgh will counter with Jordan Lyles who is 4-1 in his eight starts. The Pirates are 7-1 when Lyles has started this season. Lyles has a nifty 1.97 ERA with a 1.051 WHIP. In addition, Lyles has allowed just three total runs over his last three starts (19 2/3 innings). I like Lyles a lot here today as the Bucs win when he starts. Play Pittsburgh. |
05-22-19 | Reds v. Brewers -101 | 9-11 | Win | 100 | 3 h 50 m | Show
Early action on the diamond today has the Reds at the Brewers. The Reds took last night's contest from the Brewers, 3-0 behind a fine performance by Sonny Gray. The Reds turn to their Ace tonight in Luis Castillo. Castillo is 5-1 in his 10 starts with a 1.90 ERA and 0.957 WHIP. The Brewers will counter with Zach Davies. Davies also having a fine season with a 5-0 record, 1.54 ERA and 1.177 WHIP. Davies has not allowed more than two runs in a start this season. I expect a great pitcher's duel here today. I think the bullpens will decide this one and that goes to the Brewers. Take Milwaukee. |
05-21-19 | Reds v. Brewers -133 | Top | 3-0 | Loss | -133 | 9 h 39 m | Show |
Platinum Club : The Reds are off a three-game set at the Dodgers where they lost two of three in Los Angeles. The Reds dropped to 21-26 and are in last place in the NL Central. Today, they face the first place team in the division, the Brewers. Sonny Gray will toe the rubber today for the Reds. Gray is 0-4 in his nine st arts with a 4.09 ERA and 1.182 WHIP. Gray has pitched well enough to earn some wins, allowing three earned runs or less in each of his last nine starts, but he has received poor run support. The first place Brewers lost two of three at Atlanta and return home tonight after a 10-game road trip. The Brewers will start Gio Gonzalez who is 2-0 in his four starts with a 1.69 ERA and 1.078 WHIP. Gonzalez has pitched well since his first start at the end of April, allowing 1 run or less in each of his last three starts. The Brewers have also won his last three starts. I like the Brewers here tonight. Play Milwaukee. |
05-21-19 | Marlins -102 v. Tigers | 5-4 | Win | 100 | 18 h 42 m | Show
Both the Marlins and Tigers had yesterday off, the Tigers with two days off after a postponement. These clubs are having seasons they would like to forget thus far, with Miami at 13-31 and Detroit at 18-26. Miami can build on the fact that they have won three straight after sweeping the Mets. Today, the Marlins will start their best pitcher in Caleb Smith. Smith is 3-1 in his eight starts and has a nifty 2.25 ERA and 0.917 WHIP. The Tigers bring a six game losing streak into tonight's contest. The Tigers will start Spencer Turnbull. Turnbull is 2-3 in his nine starts with a 2.40 ERA and 1.253 WHIP. Both these pitchers have been good, but the Marlins look like winners with Smith on the hill. I'm taking the Marlins. |
05-21-19 | A's +120 v. Indians | 5-3 | Win | 120 | 7 h 8 m | Show
Inner Circle : The Oakland A's bring a 4-game win streak into this evening's contest at the Indians. The A's are just two games away from getting back to .500 and will look to Chris Bassitt tonight to get them a game closer. Bassitt is 2-1 in his five starts with a 1.93 ERA and 0.918 WHIP. Bassitt is off a fine start where he went 8-innings, allowed just four hits and no runs. Bassitt has not allowed over three runs in nay of his five starts this season. The Indians are in 2nd place in the AL Central behind the streaking Minnesota Twins. The Indians will start Trevor Bauer here tonight. Bauer is 4-2 in his 10 starts with a 3.76 ERA and 1.160 WHIP. Bauer is a quality starter, but there is lots of value with the dog here today and a very good pitcher on the hill. I'm taking the dog, play Oakland. |
05-17-19 | Cardinals -164 v. Rangers | Top | 3-7 | Loss | -164 | 10 h 53 m | Show |
The Cardinals and Rangers begin a Interleague series tonight. The Cardinals lost their second straight contest after yesterday's setback to the Braves, 2-10. Miles Mikolas is tied for most wins on the staff with four. Mikolas has a 3.83 ERA in his nine starts with a 1.056 WHIP. Mikolas has been very good of late, allowing just three total runs over his last three starts (20 innings) with just two walks and 16 KO's. The Rangers have won two straight games after a blowout win yesterday over the Royals, 16-1. Jose Leclerc will make his first appearance for the Rangers in the starter role. The Rangers are pulling a page from the Rays playbook and starting a closer who likely will go one, maybe two innings at most. Following Leclerc will be Adrian Sampson and then Areil Jurado, who will be the primary pitchers in the game. This technique works well for the Rays, we'll see if the Rangers can pull it off here on Friday. Still, I like the Cardinals in this spot. Play St Louis. |
05-15-19 | Rays -173 v. Marlins | 1-0 | Win | 100 | 8 h 38 m | Show
Tampa Bay took game one of this rivalry series with Miami on Tuesday, 4-0. Today, they will look to continue their domination with reliever Ryan Stanek getting the short start. This is something the Rays have done all season, start Stanek and look to get 1 or 2 innings out of the hard thrower. Stanek has sstarted 10 games and given up runs in only one of those starts. The Rays are 7-3 in the games Stanek has started. Miami has just 10 wins on the season and started their best in their loss on Tuesday. Tonight they turn to Jose Urena who is 1-5 on the season with a 4.63 ERA and 1.478 WHIP. Miami has the short end all the way around in this series and I like the road team here a lot. Play Tampa Bay. |
05-14-19 | Pirates v. Diamondbacks -142 | 6-2 | Loss | -142 | 10 h 30 m | Show
Arizona snapped a three-game losing streak last night with a win over the Pirates, 9-3. The D'backs improved to 23-19 and 2nd place in the NL West behind the 27-16 Dodgers. Arizona will start Luke Weaver tonight. Weaver is 3-1 on the season with a nifty 2.98 ERA and 1.059 WHIP. Weaver has been very good in his last two starts, allowing just two total runs over 14 innings. The Pirates will counter with Joe Musgrove tonight. Musgrove is 1-4 on the season with a 4.89 ERA and 1.319 WHIP. Musgrove has been hit hard lately, allowing eight earned runs over three innings in his last start at St Louis. Moreover, he's allowed 13 earned runs over his last two starts, 5 2/3 innings with seven walks. I will be all over the host in this one. Take Arizona. |
05-14-19 | Rays -129 v. Marlins | 4-0 | Win | 100 | 8 h 0 m | Show
Bragging rights on the line tonight as Florida teams Tampa Bay and Miami square off. The Rays having the much better season at 24-15, while the Marlins have struggled to a 10-29 record. In addition, the Marlins come into this contest riding a five-game losing streak. The Rays will start Charlie Morton tonight. Morton is 3-0 in his eight starts with a nice 2.64 ERA and 1.218 WHIP. Morton has allowed just three total runs over his last three starts (17 2/3 innings). The Marlins have lost eight of their last nine games and will look to Caleb Smith tonight. Smith is their one really decent starter who has 30% of the teams wins with a 3-0 record in his seven starts. Smith also has a 2.11 ERA with a 0.891 WHIP. Smith is good, but he plays for a bad team and the Rays just too good right now to pass on this low price. Take Tampa Bay. |
05-14-19 | Brewers v. Phillies +102 | Top | 6-1 | Loss | -100 | 17 h 59 m | Show |
Milwaukee and Philadelphia play game two of their series after the Phillies took game one on Monday, 7-4. The Brewers have lost three straight now while the Phillies have won three straight. The Brewers start Brandon Woodruff tonight who is 5-1 on the season with a 4.25 ERA and 1.370 WHIP. Woodruff has pitched well of late, allowing one run in each of his last three starts (16 innings). The Phillies start Jerad Eickhoff tonight who is 2-1 in his four starts with a very nice 1.73 ERA and 1.00 WHIP. After a somewhat shaky first start of the season, Eickhoff has gone 20 innings and allowed just one earned run in three straight Philly wins. Eickhoff has been nearly perfect of late and even though Woodruff has been good, he hasn't been this good. I'm taking Philadelphia tonight. |
05-13-19 | A's v. Mariners -110 | Top | 5-6 | Win | 100 | 12 h 43 m | Show |
Two teams both looking for a much needed win today face off as the Mariners host the A's. The M's will turn to Yusei Kukuchi today who is 2-1 on the season through nine starts with a 3.54 ERA and 1.055 WHIP. Kukuchi has been very good of late, allowing just two earned runs over his last two starts (14 2/3 innings) with just two walks and 13 KO's. The A's pushed Michael Fiers back a day and he's set to pitch tonight. Fiers has a 3-3 mark in his nine starts with a 5.48 ERA and 1.239 WHIP. I'm taking the Mariners here tonight as Kikuchi has been very good of late. Play Seattle. |
05-13-19 | Astros v. Tigers +146 | 8-1 | Loss | -100 | 9 h 43 m | Show
The Houston Astros begin a three-game set at Detroit tonight and bring a five-game win streak into this contest. The Astros will send Brad Peacock to the hill tonight with a 2-2 record in his six starts. Peacock has a 4.59 overall ERA, but a 6.96 road ERA in his two away starts. Detroit is 18-20 after a win on Sunday as they near the .500 mark for the season. Matt Boyd has been their most consistent starter this year with a 4-2 record in his eight starts. Boyd has a 2.86 ERA and 0.934 WHIP. The Tigers have won three of Boyd's four starts at home this season. Tonight Boyd is a nice dog at home where he has done well. Lots of value here with the home dog tonight. Play Detroit with Boyd. |
05-12-19 | Brewers v. Cubs -133 | Top | 1-4 | Win | 100 | 18 h 35 m | Show |
Sunday evening's contest has two old rivals matchup up as neighbors Milwaukee take on their rivals to the South, Chicago Cubs. The teams had to go 15 innings on Saturday to decide a winner, as the Cubs prevailed in the extra inning contest, 2-1. The loss by the Brewers snapped a 7-game win streak. Jhoulys Chacin will start today for the Brewers with a 3-3 record in his eight starts. Chacin has a lofty 5.04 ERA with a 1.272 WHIP. Chacin has pitched better of late, going 11 innings in his last two starts and allowing just two earned runs. Veteran Jon Lester will toe the rubber for the Cubs. Lester is 2-1 in his six starts with a 1.41 ERA and 1.031 WHIP. Lester has pitched excellent this season, allowing two runs or fewer in each of his six starts. I like Lester here today as I look for the Cubs to take their second in a row against the Brewers. Play the Cubs on Sunday evening. |
05-11-19 | Reds -129 v. Giants | Top | 5-4 | Win | 100 | 11 h 31 m | Show |
Both of these teams have struggled this season, with the Reds taking yesterday's game and improving to 17-22 while the Giants are 16-21 and losers of two straight. The Reds start Anthony Desclafani today. Desclafani is 2-1 in his seven starts with a 3.65 ERA and 1.135 W:HIP. Desclafani has been even better on the road, posting a 3.27 ERA and 1.000 WHIP in his four starts and the team winning three of those outings. Desclafani's last start was against these Giants where he went six innings allowed four hits and three runs for the 12-4 WIN. The Giants most consistent starter gets the nod today in Jeff Samardzija. Samardzija is 2-1 on the season and has a 3.16 ERA and 1.054 WHIP. Samardzija is coming off a five inning, five hit and four run performance last time out against these Reds. Both these pitchers are pretty equal, but I give a nod right now to the visitor as the Giants just can't seem to get out of their own way these days. Take Cincinnati. |
05-11-19 | Pirates +165 v. Cardinals | 2-1 | Win | 165 | 7 h 36 m | Show
The Pirates snapped their two-game losing streak on Friday with a win over the Cardinals. The Pirates improved to 18-17 while the Cardinals dropped to 22-17. The Bucs will turn to Jordan Lyles today. He's coming off a nice 6 2/3 effort vs Oakland, where he allowed just five hits and one run. The Cardinals turns to Miles Mikolas. Mikolas is 4-2 in his eight starts with a 4.02 ERA and 1.128 WHIP. Mikolas has allowed just one run over his last 13 innings of work with one walk and nine KO's. The Pirates are a huge dog here today and that's with a very good pitcher on the hill. I look for value on dogs and this one has value written all over it. I'm taking Pittsburgh today. |
05-10-19 | Braves v. Diamondbacks -130 | Top | 2-1 | Loss | -130 | 10 h 58 m | Show |
Atlanta still trying to make it to the .500 mark after losing four straight games. The Braves got swept by the Dodgers and have now lost game one of this series with the Diamondbacks. Julio Teherean will start today for the Braves. Teheran is 2-4 in his eight starts this season with a 4.63 ERA and 1.343 WHIP. Teheran has been very inconsistent, throwing a good start followed by a poor start. Arizona has won two straight games to improve to 22-16. The Diamondbacks will start veteran Zack Greinke today. Greinke is 5-1 in his eight starts with seven quality outings. In fact, since his opening day poor start, he's had seven excellent starts. Greinke has allowed just four total runs over his last four starts (26 2/3 innings). Moreover, his control has been very good, walking just four during that span to go with his 22 KO's. This is a very good price to lay with a hot Greinke on the hill. I'm taking Arizona. |
05-07-19 | Angels v. Tigers +120 | Top | 5-2 | Loss | -100 | 4 h 4 m | Show |
The LA Angels and Detroit Tigers begin a three-game series tonight from Detroit. The Tigers took two of three in their recent series with the Royals and can improve to .500 tonight with a win. Daniel Norris gets the nod tonight for the Tigers. Norris is 1-0 in his three starts with a 3.00 ERA and 1.40 WHIP. Norris is coming off a nice start where he went 5 innings and allowed five hits and one run. The Angels, losers of two straight, will turn to Griffin Canning tonight. Canning has one start under his belt this year and that was a 4 1/3 inning performance vs the Blue Jays where he allowed four hits and three runs. I like the Tigers tonight with a very good Norris on the hill. Play Detroit with Norris. |
05-06-19 | Twins +100 v. Blue Jays | Top | 8-0 | Win | 100 | 17 h 44 m | Show |
The Twins are quietly one of the best teams in the American League with a 20-12 record. The Twins lost a 7-inning game on Sunday to the Yankees, 1-4. Toronto also had a loss on Sunday at Texas 2-10. Martin Perez will start today for the Twins. Perez is 3-0 on the season in his four starts. Perez has a excellent 2.08 ERA with a 1.077 WHIP. Marcus Stroman toes the rubber today for the Blue Jays. Stroman is 1-4 in his seven starts with a 2.20 ERA and 1.195 WHIP. The Yankees have been one of the hotter teams in baseball, winning 10 of their last 14 games. They will send their most successful starter to the mound today in Domningo German. German is 4-1 in his five starts with a 2.73 ERA and 0.910 WHIP. German has won his last two starts, allowing four earned runs over 12 2/3 innings with just two walks and nine KO's. I like the Yankees to conclude this series with the Twins with a win. They have their best pitcher on the hill and they have been a hot team. Play the Yankees. |

They will turn to Brett Anderson here tonight. Anderson is 3-2 with a 4.35 ERA and 1.484 WHIP. Anderson is coming off his worst start of the season, going just 4 1/3 innings against the Blue Jays and allowing 10 hits and six runs. The Pirates have finally reached the .500 mark thanks to two-straight wins. Joe Musgrove will toe the rubber tonight with a 1-2 record. Musgrove has a nifty 2.18 ERA and 0.970 WHIP. Musgrove has been very consistent this season, not allowing more than three earned runs in any of hist five starts. Musgrove has been even better at home with a 1-0 record, 2.08 ERA and 0.846 WHIP. The Cincinnati Reds improved to 12-16 on the season with their win on Monday over the Mets, 5-4. The Reds have now won seven of their last 11 games. Luis Castillo is the ace of this staff right now with a 3-1 record and 1.23 ERA. Castillo has allowed just one run over his last 12 innings with 11 KO's and just one walk. The Mets dropped to .500 after yesterday's loss. Jason Vargas will toe the rubber today for the Mets. Vargas has a 1-1 record in his four starts with a 5.14 ERA and 1.786 WHIP. Walks have been an issue for Vargas with nine free passes in just 14 innings and nine KO's. I like the Reds today. We get a very good price with their Ace on the hill while Vargas has struggled with his control this year. Take Cincinnati |

04-28-19 | Rays +141 v. Red Sox | 5-2 | Win | 141 | 12 h 41 m | Show
Tampa Bay and Boston have just a short 2-game series here with the Rays taking Saturday's game 2-1. The Rays improved to 17-9 on the season. Tyler Glasnow will start today and brings a 4-0 record into this contest. Glasnow has been excellent as he's got a 1.53 ERA and 0.921 WHIP in his five starts. Boston dropped to 11-16 after having their two-game win streak snapped. Chris Sale will toe the rubber for the Red Sox. Sale has not had a smooth start to this season at 0-4 with a 7.43 ERA and 1.522 WHIP. Sale has had only one quality start in five outings. Still, somehow the oddsmakers installed Sale and the Sox as a 1.45 or better favorite. I'm taking the Rays here today with a very good Glasnow on the hill against a struggling Sale. Play Tampa Bay. |
04-27-19 | A's v. Blue Jays -102 | 1-7 | Win | 100 | 4 h 26 m | Show
Oakland dropped game one of this series with the Jays on Friday night, 2-4. The loss snapped a modest 3-game win streak for the A's and dropped them to 14-14 overall on the season. Brett Anderson gets the start today for the A's with a 3-1 record in his five starts. Anderson has pitched well with three quality starts out of his five outings. Anderson has a 3.04 ERA and 1.275 WHIP. The Jays improved to 12-14 on the season with their win last night. The Jays have won seven of their last 10 games. Aaron Sanchez will toe the rubber tonight for the Jays. Sanchez is 2-1 in his five starts with a 2.77 ERA and 1.246 WHIP. Anderson is coming off a four inning, two hit and one run performance against these A's last time out. Sanchez only has one start at home this year and that was a five inning outing where he allowed no runs and just three hits. I like Sanchez here tonight and the Jays have played much better their last 10 games. Play Toronto. |
04-26-19 | A's v. Blue Jays -128 | 2-4 | Win | 100 | 8 h 23 m | Show
Oakland has improved to 14-13 on the season with their 3-game win streak. The A's are coming off a sweep of the Texas Rangers. Today they travel to Toronto to take on the Blue Jays. The Jays are 11-14 on the season and have lost two straight after a nice 6-1 run. Marcus Stroman will start today for the Blue Jays. Stroman is 1-3 in his five starts but has pitched very well. Stroman has a 1.76 ERA and 1.239 WHIP and is coming off a 8-inning performance at Oakland where he allowed just one run. Stroman has now gone 12 inning and allowed just one run. The A's will turn to Michael Fiers today. Fiers is 2-2 in his six starts with a 8.28 ERA and 1.720 WHIP. Fiers has been consistently bad, especially recently where he's allowed 18 runs over his last three starts (10 innings total). That being said, I like the Blue Jays here today. They have played better lately and have the much better starter on the hill. Play Toronto. |
04-25-19 | Yankees -110 v. Angels | Top | 5-11 | Loss | -110 | 19 h 25 m | Show |
The Yankees extended their win streak to 6-games with a come-from-behind win on Wednesday night at LA Angels. The Yanks got down 0-5 and clawed their way back before scoring the go ahead run in the top of the 9th to win 6-5. Today, the 14-10 Yankees look to continue their winning streak with Masahiro Tanaka on the hill. Tanaka is 2-1 in his five starts with a nice 2.76 ERA and 1.227 WHIP. Tanaka is coming off an excellent start where he went 7 innings and allowed just four hits and one run to the Royals in a 9-2 win. The Angels dropped to 9-16 on the season with their loss on Wednesday. The Halos will send Trevor Cahill to the mound tonight. The Angels are just 1-4 in Cahill's five starts while Cahill is 1-2. Cahill has a 5.47 ERA and 1.177 WHIP. Cahill has gotten hit hard his last couple of outings, allowing 11 hits and nine earned runs over just 8 1/3 innings. I like the Yanks to extend their win streak here tonight with Tanaka on the mound. Play New York. |
04-24-19 | Dodgers v. Cubs +105 | 6-7 | Win | 105 | 9 h 1 m | Show
The Chicago Cubs took game one of this series with the Dodgers on Tuesday, 7-2. It was the club's second win in a row and sixth in their last seven games. The Cubs will send Cole Hamels to the hill tonight. Hamels is 3-0 in his four starts with a nifty 2.77 ERA and 0.846 WHIP. Hamels has been very good, going 15 innings in his last two starts, allowing just seven hits and one earned run. In addition, he has no walks in any of his last three starts (21 innings) with 19 KO's. The Dodgers are 15-10 on the season. They will send Walker Buehler to the mound tonight. Buehler has a 2-0 record, but a fairly high 5.40 ERA and 1.200 WHIP. Buehler is coming off his best start of the season, allowing just three hits and no earned runs over 6 1/3 innings to the Reds. Still, hard to pass on the Cubs here tonight with a very good Hamels on the mound and the Cubs a slight dog play. I'm taking Chicago tonight. |
04-24-19 | White Sox v. Orioles -118 | Top | 3-4 | Win | 100 | 8 h 1 m | Show |
Two teams with nine wins each meet here this evening as the Baltimore Orioles host the Chicago White Sox. The White Sox are off a loss last night to these Orioles, 1-9. The teams have split the first two games of this series. Ervin Santana starts tonight for the Sox with a 0-1 record in his two starts. Santana has a lofty 10.38 ERA and 2.191 WHIP. Santana has gone just 8 2/3 total innings and has allowed 13 hits and 10 runs. Walks have also been an issue with six free passes and just four KO's. The O's snapped a four-game losings streak with a win last night. John Means is 0-2 in his two starts, but unlike Santana he has a good 2.25 ERA and 1.250 WHIP. Means has gone eight total innings and allowed eight hits and two total runs. I like the O's here tonight as Santana has yet to find any groove and Means has been decent. Play Baltimore. |
04-23-19 | Braves -107 v. Reds | 6-7 | Loss | -107 | 6 h 40 m | Show
The Atlanta Braves have won two-straight games and improved to 11-10 on the season. The Braves have scored well, averaging 5.4 runs per game. It's their pitching that has been suspect, allowing 4.9 runs per game. Kevin Gausman will start today for the Braves with a 1-1 record. Gausman has a nice 2.75 ERA and very good 0.763 WHIP in his previous three starts. Gausman also has 22 KO's in just 19 2/3 innings with just six walks. The Reds had yesterday off after losing on Sunday to the Padres 3-4. The loss snapped a 3-game win streak for Cincinnati. Sonny Gray will toe the rubber today for the Reds. Gray is 0-3 in his four starts with a 2.79 ERA and 0.931 WHIP. Gray has received just seven total runs of support in his four starts and twice he received no runs of support. Gray isn't the problem here, it's the Reds lack of offense. Don't expect that to improve either against a very good Gausman today. Take Atlanta. |
04-22-19 | Rangers +133 v. A's | Top | 1-6 | Loss | -100 | 9 h 3 m | Show |
The Texas Rangers improved to 12-8 on the season with two straight wins over the weekend. The Rangers have averaged 5.8 runs per game this season. Today they are nice little dog here at Oakland who is just 11-13 on the season and on a three-game losing streak. Mike Minor will start for the Rangers. Minor is 2-1 in four starts with a nifty 2.60 ERA and very good 0.940 WHIP. Minor is coming off a complete game shutout win over the Angels where he allowed just three hits and struck out seven. The A's will try and snap a 3-game losing streak with Chris Bassitt making his first start of the season. Bassitt was called up from Triple-A Las Vegas to replace Marco Estrada who went on the DL with a lumbar strain. Don't expect to see a lot of Bassitt today as he will be on a pitch count. The Rangers with a solid pitcher and a dog price is too much for me to pass on here today. Take Texas with Minor. |
04-21-19 | Reds +134 v. Padres | 3-4 | Loss | -100 | 4 h 13 m | Show
The Cincinnati Reds continue to play better as they have now won three straight games, all from the Padres as they wrap up this four-game series today. The Reds once again shut down the Padres offense, limiting them to just two-runs again on Saturday for the win. That means they have held San Diego to just five total runs in this series. Tyler Mahle is 0-1 in his three starts, but has pitched well. Mahle has a 2.65 ERA and 1.294 WHIP in his 17 innings of work. Mahler has walked just four and struck out 15 so far. The Padres have lost six straight games and fallen to .500 at 11-11 after starting the season 11-5. The Padres haven't scored more than two runs in any of their last five games. Joey Lucchesi will toe the rubber today for the Padres. Lucchesi is 2-2 in his four starts with a 5.06 ERA and 1.313 WHIP. Lucchesi has got hit hard in his last two starts, going just 11 innings, allowing 14 hits and 12 runs. Until the Padres get their act back together I'll keep playing these live dogs against them. Play the Reds. |
04-20-19 | Reds -110 v. Padres | 4-2 | Win | 100 | 10 h 41 m | Show
The Cincinnati Reds started the season horribly, winning just one time in their first nine games. Then they won four straight and again lost four straight. Now they have won two straight over the host team San Diego, winning the opener 4-1 and then yesterday 3-2, both as dogs. Luis Castillo gets the start today for the Reds with a 1-1 record in his four starts. Castillo has a nifty 1.46 ERA with an impressive 0.892 WHIP. Castillo has not allowed over two runs in any of his four starts this season. The Padres have now lost five straight games to drop to 11-10 on the season. Eric Lauer will toe the rubber today for the Padres. Lauer is 2-2 in his four starts with a 4.91 ERA and 1.364 WHIP. Lauer has been ok, but nothing spectacular. And against today's starter in Castillo, Lauer will have to better then he has. This game basically a pick'em and I like the red-hot Castillo here. Play Cincinnati. |
04-20-19 | Phillies v. Rockies +106 | 8-5 | Loss | -100 | 9 h 11 m | Show
The Colorado Rockies had a rocky start to the season with a 4-12 beginning. However, they seem to have turned things around of late, winning five-straight games. The Rockies have taken two straight from the Phillies, outscoring Philly 10-5 in the process. The pitching has been excellent during this five-game stretch, allowing less than 2-runs per game average. Antonio Senzatela will start today for the Rockies. Senzatela has a fine 1.35 ERA in his only start, allowing just one run over 6 2/3 innings to the Padres to get the win. Philly started the season 11-6 before losing its last two games to Colorado and dropping to 11-8. Aaron Nola gets the start today for Philly and is 1-0 in his four starts this year. Nola has a lofty 7.45 ERA and 1.655 WHIP. Nola has also had control issues, walking 11 batters in just 19 1/3 innings. The Rockies are hot and they have a very good pitcher on the hill today. I am taking Colorado tonight. |
04-20-19 | Blue Jays +129 v. A's | 10-1 | Win | 129 | 15 h 17 m | Show
The Blue Jays beat the A's on Friday evening, 5-1. The win improved the Jays to 9-12 on the season and winners of two straight. The A's loss on Friday dropped them to .500 at 11-11. The Jays will start Matt Shoemaker today. Shoemaker is 3-0 in his four starts with a nifty 1.75 ERA and 0.857 WHIP on the season. In addition, Shoemaker has 23 KO's to nine walks. Michael Fiers starts today for Oakland. Fiers is 2-1 in his five starts with a 7.06 ERA and 1.569 WHIP. Fiers has been hit hard in his last two starts, allowing 12 runs and 14 hits over just 6 2/3 innings. Hard to pass on the Blue Jays as a nice dog here today with a very hot Shoemaker on the hill and Fiers struggling very badly in his last two starts. Play Toronto. |
04-19-19 | Red Sox v. Rays -113 | Top | 6-4 | Loss | -113 | 7 h 56 m | Show |
Tampa Bay continues their red-hot start to the season with a 14-5 record, though they did lose last night to the Orioles, 5-6. The Rays have won eight of their last 10 games as they prepare for the defending champs. The Rays have perfected this starter by bullpen that we have seen dating back to last year. Once again Ryan Stanek will start and go his one or two innings. This really gets the Rays off to a good start as Stanek has pitched six innings in his four starts, but allowed just two hits and no runs with no walks and 11 KO's. Stanek then hands the ball over to a very good bullpen. This has resulted in a 3-1 record so far for the Rays. The Red Sox have not had a good start to the season at 6-13 and losers of three straight. The pitching has been poor, allowing 6.3 runs per game this season. Eduardo Rodriquez starts today for Boston with a 1-2 record in his three starts. Rodriquez has a lofty 7.98 ERA with a 1.704 WHIP. The Rays look for real this year and against a struggling Red Sox team, I like this play a lot tonight on the Rays. Take Tampa Bay. |
04-18-19 | Dodgers v. Brewers +101 | Top | 3-1 | Loss | -100 | 9 h 10 m | Show |
Both these clubs have won 12 games so far on the young season. The Dodgers have won four straight games while the Brewers have lost one in a row. Both teams are scoring well, with LA averaging 6.1 rpg and the Brewers averaging 5.2 rpg. The Dodgers will start Julio Urias today with a 0-1 record in his three starts. Urias has a lofty 5.27 ERA and 1.317 WHIP. Urias not pitching as well as expected after a solid preseason. Urias has walked five and struck out just 13. Urias allowed six runs over five innings in his last start against these same Brewers. Zach Davies will toe the rubber today for Milwaukee. Davies is 2-0 in his three starts with a fine 1.53 ERA and 1.302 WHIP. Davies has allowed just three earned runs over 17 2/3 innings, yet he and the Brewers are a +1.00 even money bet here today. Urias has not been all that good and the Brewers have already seen him and hit him hard. I'll take Milwaukee at home with this excellent price today. Play Milwaukee. |
04-18-19 | Blue Jays +164 v. Twins | 7-4 | Win | 164 | 2 h 10 m | Show
The Blue Jays are off to a 7-12 record this season after losing game three of this series on Wednesday, 1-4. The Jays look to take three of four in this series today with Clay Buchholz on the mound. Buchholz is 0-0 on the season after just one start. His lone start was very good, going six inning allowing six hits and just one run. The Jays took that game over Tampa Bay 3-1 as a +1.90 dog. The Twins are 9-6 on the young season and look to split the series with the Jays today. Michael Pineda has also been solid so far this year with a 2-0 record in three starts. Pineda has gone 15 total innings, allowed 13 hits, five runs and just two walks with 15 KO's. I see the Jays as a solid value here as the big dog. They did it once already with Buchholz on the hill, I see them doing it again today. Take Toronto. |
04-17-19 | Angels v. Rangers -122 | Top | 4-5 | Win | 100 | 9 h 1 m | Show |
These two clubs have started about the same this year with the LA Angels at 8-9 and the Texas Rangers at 9-7. The Rangers bring a three-game win streak into today's contest while the Halos bring a two-game losing streak. The Angels also average just 3.9 runs per game compared to the Rangers 5.6 runs per game. Matt Harvey starts for the Angels today. Harvey has been hit hard since coming over to the A.L. Harvey has a 0-1 record in his three starts with a 10.05 ERA and 1.954 WHIP. Harvey has allowed 14 earned runs in his last 8 1/3 innings with four walks and 10 KO's. Lance Lynn toes the rubber for the Rangers today. Lynn also a longtime Senior circuit pitcher is 1-1 in his three A.L. starts this year. Lynn, unlike Harvey, has been good his last two starts allowing just three runs over 13 innings with three walks and 14 KO's. I like Lynn a lot here tonight as Harvey continues to struggle in the American League. Play Texas. |
04-16-19 | Blue Jays +138 v. Twins | 6-5 | Win | 138 | 8 h 18 m | Show
Toronto enters tonight's contest with a 6-11 record after winning yesterday over the Twins, 5-3. The Blue Jays are averaging 3.6 rpg while allowing 4.1 rpg. Aaron Sanchez gets the start today for the Jays. Sanchez is 1-1 on the season with a 1.69 ERA and 1.375 WHIP. Sanchez has been very good, allowing just three earned runs over his 16 innings with 16 KO's. The Twins are 8-5 on the season and have averaged 5.2 rpg and allow 4.5 rpg. Kyle Gibson will toe the rubber tonight for the Twins. Gibson is 0-0 in his two starts, but has a high 7.71 ERA and 2.034 WHIP. Gibson hasn't made it out of the 4th inning in either of his starts, allowing 14 total his and eight earned runs over 9 1/3 total innings. Jays are a nice dog here tonight with a very good pitcher on the hill. I'm taking Toronto. |
04-16-19 | Pirates v. Tigers +100 | 5-3 | Loss | -100 | 6 h 28 m | Show
Interleague action today has the Pittsburgh Pirates taking on the Detroit Tigers. The Pirates are 8-6 on the season and have won one game in a row. The Pirates have been a under team thus far with a 6-8 O/U record. They are scoring an average of 3.6 rpg and allowing 3.5 rps. Joe Musgrave gets the start today for the Bucs with a 1-1 record in his two starts. Musgrave has not allowed an earned run over 13 1/3 innings of work with just 7 total hits, three walks and 14 KO's. Detroit has also been a very good under team at 4-11 O/U. The Tigers average just 2.7 rpg and allow 3.3 rpg. Matt Boyd is 1-1 for the Tigers and will start today. Boyd has a 2.60 ERA in his three starts with a 1.154 WHIP. Boyd has allowed just two earned runs over his last 12 1/3 innings with five walks and 19 KO's. Detroit is a small home dog here and with a very good Boyd on the hill there is excellent value in the Tigers. Take Detroit. |
04-15-19 | Reds +142 v. Dodgers | 3-4 | Loss | -100 | 11 h 52 m | Show
The 5-9 Cincinnati Reds take on the 9-8 LA Dodgers here in the first game of a three games series. The Reds saw their four game win streak snapped on Sunday by the Cardinals, 5-9. Still, they finally got some wins under their belt after a terrible start to the season. Luis Castillo starts today for the Reds. Castillo is 1-1 after his first three starts with a excellent 0.92 ERA and 0.661 WHIP. Castillo has really been brilliant, allowing 2 total runs over 19 2/3 innings with just 5 hits, 8 walks and 25 KO's. The Dodgers snapped a six-game losing streak on Sunday with a win over the Brewers, 7-1. The Dodgers started the season hot at 8-2 before their losing streak. Clayton Kershaw makes his first start of the season tonight. Kershaw has been battling a shoulder issue. Kershaw has now missed time in four straight seasons. Last season saw one of the worst statistically for Kershaw and a big drop in the velocity of his fast ball. Today we find Kershaw as a 150+ favorite, which I find hard to believe against Castillo who has been on fire. I just don't have faith in this version of Kershaw after what I saw last year. I'll take the live dog here in the Reds with a very good Castillo on the hill. Play Cincinnati. |
04-15-19 | Cubs v. Marlins +132 | 7-2 | Loss | -100 | 8 h 52 m | Show
Both these clubs off to slow starts in 2019 with the Cubs at 5-9 and the Marlins at 4-12. The Cubs have seen an improvement of late, winning four of their last seven games. Yu Darvish starts today for the Cubs. Darvish is 0-2 in his three starts, with a lofty 7.50 ERA and 1.917 WHIP. Darvish has gone 2 2/3, 4 and 5 1/3 innings in his three starts. He's allowed 12 hits, 11 runs and 11 walks. Miami still looking for a winning grove. They beat the Phillies on Saturday 10-3 and then lost on Sunday, 1-3. Trevor Richards will toe the rubber tonight for the Marlins. Richards is 0-1 in his three starts with a 2.00 ERA and 1.11 WHIP. Richards has been solid for the Marlins with only four walks and 10 KO's. Richards is coming off his best start of the season, going six innings and allowing just one hit and no runs to the Reds in his last start. Marlins at home as a nice dog is too much for me to pass on here tonight. I like the pitching matchup in our favor. Take the Marlins. |
04-14-19 | Rockies v. Giants +100 | Top | 4-0 | Loss | -100 | 4 h 16 m | Show |
The San Francisco Giants look for the sweep of the Rockies today. The Giants have taken the first three-games in this series by a 9-4 run margin. The Rockies have lost eight straight games now and average just 2.8 runs per game. German Marquez starts today for the Rockies. Marquez is 1-1 in his three starts and is coming off a loss vs Atlanta. Marquez allowed five runs over five innings in the loss. The Giants three-game win streak have improved the club to 7-9 on the season. Derek Holland gets the start today. Holland is 1-1 in his three starts with a 3.38 ERA and 1.250 WHIP. Holland is coming off a very solid start, allowing just one run and five hits over seven innings for the win against the Padres. The Rockies just haven't found any rhythm yet and with the Giants playing well, I'll take San Francisco to sweep this series here today. Play the Giants. |
04-13-19 | Indians -111 v. Royals | Top | 0-3 | Loss | -111 | 8 h 12 m | Show |
The Indians and Royals matchup here today in a late Saturday game. The Indians lost on Friday to the Royals, 1-8. That was just their second loss in their last eight games. The Tribe are still 8-5 on the season. The Royals are off to a 3-10 start and had lost 10 straight games before yesterday's win. Jefry Rodriguez starts today for the Indians. It will be his first start of the season. Rodriquez makes the start for Clevinger. Rodriquez had a 5.71 ERA for the Nationals last season in limited use. Homer Bailey starts for the Royals. Bailey is 0-1 with a 9.00 ERA in his two starts. Bailey gave up seven runs over five innings his last start to Seattle. The Royals have really struggled and Bailey isn't the answer I'm afraid. I'm taking the Indians with Rodriquez here tonight. |
04-13-19 | Rockies v. Giants -111 | 2-5 | Win | 100 | 5 h 3 m | Show
Two teams that have struggled out of the gate are the Colorado Rockies and San Francisco Giants. The Rockies are just 3-11 and have lost seven games. The Giants have improved to 6-9 with a pair of wins over the Rockies. Both teams are not scoring much, Colorado averaging 2.9 runs per game and the Giants at 2.8. But at least the Giants pitching staff is decent with a 3.3 rpg average. Not so for the Rocks, who are allowing 5.2 runs this season. Kyle Freeland starts today for the Rockies. Freeland is 1-2 in his three starts with a 5.40 ERA and 1.260 WHIP. Freeland is coming off a bad outing vs Atlanta where he allowed seven hits and seven runs over five innings. Madison Bumgarner is 0-2 in his three starts. However, Bumgarner hasn't pitched poorly with his 3.32 ERA and excellent 0.947 WHIP. The Giants are the better team here today with the better pitcher. Nice price too here with the home Giants. I'll take the Giants today with Bumgarner. |
04-09-19 | Mariners -109 v. Royals | 6-3 | Win | 100 | 10 h 37 m | Show
Two teams that have had directly different starts to the 2019 season. The Mariners are off to a great start at 10-2 and have won three straight games. They are averaging 8.2 runs per game and allowing 5.1 runs per game. Marco Gonzales is 3-0 already on the season with a 3.20 ERA and 1.170 WHIP. Gonzales is coming off a very good start where he allowed just one run and four hits over 8 1/3 innings to the Angels. The Royals are off to a terrible start. KC won it's first two games of the season and since has gone on a 0-7 run. They are allowing 6.1 runs per game thus far too. Jake Junis is 1-0 after two starts with a 4.63 ERA and 1.371 WHIP. Easy call for me here today in this game. The M's are red-hot and have a very good pitcher on the mound against a struggling Royals team. Play Seattle. |
04-09-19 | Indians v. Tigers +145 | 8-2 | Loss | -100 | 13 h 35 m | Show
Both of these clubs off to very nice starts this season with the Cleveland Indians winning six of their first nine games. The Indians are averaging 3.3 runs per game and allowing 3.2 runs per game. Cory Kluber had a lot of trade speculation around him in the off season, but he remains in Cleveland - for now. Kluber has lost his first two starts of the season, with a 5.23 ERA and 1.549 WHIP. Kluber went just 3 1/3 innings his last start, allowing eight hits and six runs. The Tigers are 7-3 to start the season and have won five straight games. The Tigers pitching has been excellent, allowing just 2.6 runs per game. However, the offense hasn't been all that good at just 2.7 runs per game. Jordan Zimmermann starts today for the Tigers. Zim has two starts this season with a 0.66 ERAS and 0.585 WHIP. Zimmerman has gone 13 2/3 innings and has allowed just seven hits and one run. He's struck out 10 and walked just one batter. The Tigers with Zimmermann have been a great combo to start the season and that's what I'm sticking with here early on Tuesday. Play the Tigers with Zimmermann. |
04-08-19 | Mariners -110 v. Royals | Top | 13-5 | Win | 100 | 10 h 50 m | Show |
The Seattle Mariners are off to one of the best starts in baseball with a 9-2 record. They have a two-game win streak that they bring into today's contest. They are averaging a mighty 7.1 runs per game, though the pitching staff has allowed 5.1 runs per game. The Kansas City Royals are just 2-6 to start the season and that was after winning their first two games of the season. They have since gone on a 0-6 losing streak. Their pitching staff has got hit hard also, allowing 5.3 runs per game. Homer Bailey gets the start for the Royals today. Bailey went 5-innings in his first start against Minnesota, allowing five hit and three runs in a no decision. Felix Hernandez will toe the rubber for the M's. King Felix won his first start, going 7-innings against the Angels and allowing just one earned run over 5 1/3 innings. Can't pass up on the red-hot Mariners here tonight, especially against a Royals team that has lost six straight. Play the Mariners. |

04-07-19 | Cubs v. Brewers -105 | 2-4 | Win | 100 | 2 h 20 m | Show
The Chicago Cubs off to a rough start this season at just 2-6, though they did beat the Brewers on Saturday. The Cubs pitching and hitting have both been through the roof. The Cubs are averaging 7.5 runs per game, however, they are allowing 8.4 runs per game. Not surprising that the Cubs are 7-0-1 O/U this season. Kyle Hendricks starts today for the Cubbies. Hendricks is 0-1 in his only start, going just 4 1/3 innings, allowing 10 hits and seven runs. The Brewers picked up right where they left off last season, winning seven of their first nine games. They are allowing 5.4 runs per game and scoring 5.4 runs per game. Zach Davies starts today. Davies is 1-0 after one start, allowing four hits and two runs over five innings to the Reds. The Brewers just playing too good right now to pass on them here. I like Milwaukee today. |
04-06-19 | Reds v. Pirates -125 | Top | 5-6 | Win | 100 | 11 h 13 m | Show |
The Cincinnati Reds off to a bad start to the season as they are just 1-6 on the young season and 0-5 after winning on opening day. The Reds are averaging just 1.8 rpg while allowing 3.2 rpg. Today they start Tanner Roark. Roark went 4 1/3 innings in his first start vs the Brewers, allowing six hits and three runs and taking a no decision. The Pirates are 3-3 on the season and beat the Reds on Friday, 2-0. The Bucs are averaging 3.8 rpg and allowing 3.2 rpg. Trevor Williams makes his second start of the season. Williams went six innings and beat these Reds 5-0 , allowing three hits and no runs. The Reds were shutout 0-2 for the second straight day by Pittsburgh. In fact, it's three straight days that the Reds have been shut out. The Reds are a poor hitting team early in the season and it won't get any easier against today's Pirates starter. Take the Pirates on Saturday. |

04-05-19 | Rays -121 v. Giants | Top | 5-2 | Win | 100 | 3 h 10 m | Show |
Tampa Bay has been one of the best pitching teams thus far in baseball. The Rays have allowed just 1.6 runs per game thus far and have a 5-2 record. Today they take on the San Francisco Giants in an interleague play. The Giants offense has not been good, averaging just 2.4 runs per game and so far they are just 2-5 on the season. The Giants start Dereck Rodriquez, who is 1-0 on the season, going 5-innings and allowing just 4 hits and two runs in his win over the Padres. The Rays start Tyler Glasnow. Glasnow also went 5-innings in his first outing, allowing just six hits and one run in his 3-1 win over the Astros. While both pitchers were very good in their first game, I like the Rays here. They are playing very well and their bullpen has been stellar. Take the Rays. |

04-03-19 | Orioles +140 v. Blue Jays | 3-5 | Loss | -100 | 4 h 60 m | Show
The Baltimore Orioles have won four games in a row and four of five on the season. The O's are coming off a 2-1 win yesterday at Toronto. Nate Karns will get his second start of the season. Karns went just two innings in his first start against the Yankees, allowing one hit and no runs. This has been quite common these days for teams to start a relief pitcher who will only go one or two innings. The Blue Jays are 2-4 on the year and have lost three straight games. The Jays are averaging just 3.0 runs per game, but allowing just 2.3 runs per game. Matt Shoemaker won his first start, going seven solid innings, allowing two hits and no runs against the Tigers. The Jays will need another good outing from Shoemaker the way they are hitting the ball right now. With these two hurlers on the hill, I'm taking the UNDER in this game. Play UNDER |

04-02-19 | Diamondbacks v. Padres -116 | 8-5 | Loss | -116 | 8 h 40 m | Show
The D'backs lost three of their four to start the season to the Dodgers. They rebounded with a win in game one of this series, beating the Padres 10-3 yesterday. Today, they start Zack Greinke, who was beat up by the Dodgers in his initial start. Greinke went just 3 2/3 innings and allowed seven hits and seven runs, including four home runs to the Dodgers. The Padres won the Manny Machado sweepstakes in the off season and they have started the season 3-2. They need to get their run production up though, averaging just 2.8 rpg. Eric Lauer pitched great in his opening start, going six solid innings, allowing four hits and no runs to the Giants in a 2-0 win. The D'backs have been getting hit so far and the Padres have a solid pitching staff. Big edge here to Padres pitching. If they can get the hitting going they will be a leader in the division. Take the Padres. |

04-02-19 | Angels v. Mariners -120 | 1-2 | Win | 100 | 8 h 39 m | Show
The Angels look to snap their three-game losing streak here tonight. The Halos are just 1-4 on the season and averaging a paltry 2.4 runs per game. Meanwhile, Seattle is flying high at 6-1 on the young year and averaging 7.7 runs per game. Marco Gonzales already starting his third game of the season for the M's. Gonzo is 2-0 with a 4.77 ERA. But the way the M's have been hitting he doesn't have to be great so far. The Angels start Trevor Cahill who is 0-1 on the season and allowed four hits and four runs over six innings to the A's in a 0-4 loss. The Angels just not jelling early and the M's are. I'm sticking with the hot team here tonight. Play Seattle. |
04-01-19 | Angels v. Mariners +105 | Top | 3-6 | Win | 105 | 9 h 48 m | Show |
The LA Angels have started slowly to the new season, going 1-3 their last four games and have lost their last two games. Meanwhile, the Mariners have gotten off to a red-hot start, winning five of their six games and have won two straight. The Mariners are averaging eight-runs so far in their six games and allowing 5.8. The Angels are scoring just 2.3 runs per game and allowing 3.0 runs per game. Chris Stratton starts today for the Halos with no record this year and Felix Hernandez will toe the rubber for the M's with no record this season. The Mariners are now a small dog here tonight and I like them a lot seeing they are scoring a lot of runs and the Angels have struggled thus far. Take the hot home team, play Seattle. |
03-30-19 | Tigers v. Blue Jays -122 | 0-3 | Win | 100 | 2 h 59 m | Show
Both Detroit and Toronto have started the season at 1-1 as we head into game three. Toronto lost the opener to the Tigers, 0-2 and then rebounded yesterday with a win, 6-0 behind Matt Shoemaker's solid 7 innings of two-hit baseball. The Tigers offense needs to a bit better than two runs in two games. Spencer Turnbull starts for the Tigers. Aaron Sanchez will toe the rubber for the Blue Jays today. Short price here with the Jays and until I see better offense out of the Tigers I'll stick with Toronto. Play the Blue Jays. |
03-28-19 | Mets +117 v. Nationals | 2-0 | Win | 117 | 13 h 33 m | Show
The start of the MLB season is here and the Mets and Nationals will kick it off in the NL. We can't put a lot into preseason, but the Nationals were 17-12 to finish the Grapefuit league while the Mets were 13-16. The Mets will start Jacob DeGrom who has a lifetime 2.67 ERA and 1.07 WHIP. Max Scherzer will toe the rubber for the Nats. Scherzer has a 3.22 ERA with a 1.10 lifetime WHIP. Basically if I can get deGrom as a dog in any game I know I will be in that game. I'm taking the Mets and the underdog deGrom here on opening day. |
10-26-18 | Red Sox v. Dodgers -150 | 2-3 | Win | 100 | 7 h 51 m | Show
You can make a case for either club here. The Red Sox are playing just like the best team in the majors that there were all season. They are hitting with two outs consistently as we saw that again in game two. Dodgers leading 2-1 and with two outs and no one on base the Red Sox strung together three hits and a walk to take the lead. LA now in that dreaded must win position. No team has gone 0-3 in the World Series and come back to win. The Dodgers know this and they throw rookie Walker Beuhler today. Beuhler is the reason they are here, with his excellent performance in game 7 of the NLCS. This is the best opportunity thus far for the Dodgers to get that first win. Take the Dodgers. |
10-24-18 | Dodgers v. Red Sox -136 | 2-4 | Win | 100 | 6 h 56 m | Show
These teams are pretty evenly matched. They both hit the long ball, both have talented pitching staffs. But really, you need both of those plus more to get to the World Series. What has separated these clubs is that the Dodgers have been striking out a lot. Plus, LA has been hitting right around .200 with Runners in Scoring position. Boston has been hitting over .300 with RISP and make contact, not striking out nearly as much as the Dodgers do. That being said, today it's Ryu vs Price. Price is coming off an excellent start vs Houston in the ALCS, going six innings and allowing just three hits and no runs. Ryu lost at Milwaukee last time out, allowing two runs and six hits over 4 1/3 innings. Both these starters have been solid. LA has been loading their lineup with right handed hitters in an effort to get an advantage vs the lefties. Didn't really see that out of Boston in game one vs Kershaw and it worked for them. I am coming back with the Red Sox here in game two to hold home field advantage and go to the West Coast up 2-0. Play Boston |
10-23-18 | Dodgers +142 v. Red Sox | 4-8 | Loss | -100 | 9 h 46 m | Show
The Red Sox rolled to a fairly easy ALCS win over the Astros. The Dodgers had a much tougher task, having to win a game 7 on the road. The Dodgers were supposed to be the team with the inferior bullpen to the Brewers, but it turned out the LA pen is what carried them to the win. That plus some timely home runs in game seven. Some questionable managing by Brewers HC Counsel. Not sure why we saw Hader so early in game seven. Now we get the Red Sox and Dodgers. It isn't too often that we see Clayton Kershaw a dog, let alone a +1.40 dog. Sure, Kershaw pitched the final inning of game 7 and he's had less then a stellar postseason career. Still, there is lots of value here in game one with Kershaw this big a day. I'm taking LA in game one with their ace on the hill. |
10-19-18 | Dodgers v. Brewers +106 | 2-7 | Win | 106 | 12 h 43 m | Show
The NLCS goes back to Milwaukee with the Brewers down 2-3. Milwaukee will have their full contingent of relievers available here tonight and that gives them a big edge. This series has been all about the pens and Milwaukee has one of the best if not the best in baseball. Wade Miley will start though after his controversial pulling in his last start. Miley went 5 2/3 innings and had given up just hits when pulled by HC Counsel. The Brewers would go on to lose that game, 3-4. Miley also pitched to one batter on Wednesday, walking the one hitter he faced. MIley has pitched very well in the playoffs, allowing no runs over his 10 12/3 innings with just five hits. I like the Brewers here and with their full pen at the ready, they have the distinctive edge. Play Milwaukee. |
10-17-18 | Red Sox v. Astros -142 | 8-6 | Loss | -142 | 8 h 23 m | Show
The Astros are in a must win situation tonight as they can ill afford to go down 1-3 in this series. The defending World Champions have some allegations swirling that they are cheating. We'll see how this pans out in coming days. For now, they need to concentrate on game five here tonight. Houston will send Charlie Morton to the mound with a 15-3 record and 3.18 ERA. Morton has yet to pitch in the postseason, making his last start 18 days ago vs Baltimore. Boston sends Rick Porcello to the hill. Porcello is 18-7 with a 4.22 ERA. Porcello pitched once in the ALDS vs the Yankees, allowing one run on four hits over five innings and getting the Win. The Astros need this game and I look for them to rise to the occasion here tonight and bounce back. Play Houston. |
10-17-18 | Brewers +166 v. Dodgers | 2-5 | Loss | -100 | 5 h 53 m | Show
Marathon game last night in LA went well after midnight on the East coast. Both teams used just about every pitcher they had along with all position players in that 2-1 Dodgers win in 14 innings. LA's Bellinger hit the game winning single with Machado on 2nd base to win it for the Dodgers. It should be interesting to see how both managers are going to use their bullpens that both should be tired. The Dodgers will start their ace Clayton Kershaw. Kershaw beat the Braves in game 2 of the NLDS, 3-0, going eight innings and allowing two hits. Then in the NLCS vs the Brewers he went just three innings, gave up six hits and four earned runs as he was tagged with the loss, 5-6. The Brewers will send Wade MIley to the hill. Miley got pulled in game two after working a very good 5 2/3 innings, allowing just two hits and no runs. The Brewers would lose that game to the Dodgers, 3-4. HC Counsel took some criticism for pulling Miley too soon since he was pretty much cruising at that point. Counsel may need Miley to go further tonight with the status of the pen in the air. Still, the Brewers hit Kershaw pretty hard in Milwaukee and with the high price here tonight, I see lots of value taking the Brewers. Take Milwaukee. |
