01-20-23 | Villanova +4 v. St. John's | Top | 57-49 | Win | 100 | 9 h 35 m | Show |
Two weeks ago, St. John's was encouraged by its performance in a close loss at Providence, and now the Red Storm are feeling even more positive about recent results. Coming off a double-digit win at No. 15 UConn, the Red Storm seek a third straight victory Friday night when they host Villanova at Madison Square Garden. Starting with a 78-63 defeat at Villanova on Dec. 21, the Red Storm (13-6, 3-5 Big East) lost five straight, falling to Xavier, Seton Hall, Marquette and Providence. In the 83-80 setback to the Friars, St. John's rallied to tie twice in the second half after facing an eight-point deficit and coach Mike Anderson liked the energy. Anderson had plenty to enjoy in the subsequent two games, a 16-point home win over Butler on Jan. 10 and Sunday's 85-74 win against the Huskies in Hartford, Conn. On Sunday, the Red Storm outscored UConn 47-36 in the second half, shot 51.7 percent for the game, allowed 41.8 percent shooting and forced 21 turnovers. As usual, St. John's received a big game from NCAA double-doubles leader Joel Soriano, who collected 19 points and 13 rebounds for his 16th double-double. |

01-18-23 | Pacers +4.5 v. Thunder | 106-126 | Loss | -110 | 10 h 7 m | Show
After playing much of the last two seasons firmly in the shadow of Oklahoma City Thunder teammate Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Josh Giddey is starting to find some time in the spotlight. Heading into Wednesday's matchup with the visiting Indiana Pacers, Giddey is playing the best basketball of his young career. The second-year guard has scored 20 or more points in three consecutive games, including a 28-point performance in Sunday's win at Brooklyn, which matches a career-high. Giddey has scored at least 20 points in eight of his last 12 contests. "Josh has been really good," Gilgeous-Alexander said. "He's being aggressive, he's making the right play, he's playing super-efficient basketball. The kid works hard and he has the mental (game), for sure." Over the last nine games, Giddey is shooting 52.7 percent from the floor, raising his season percentage to 47.9 after shooting just under 42 percent as a rookie. |

01-17-23 | Penn State +4 v. Wisconsin | 60-63 | Win | 100 | 8 h 49 m | Show
The Penn State Nittany Lions will be out to end decades of road futility against Wisconsin on Tuesday, while the Badgers have lost three straight without their injured leading scorer. Wisconsin (11-5, 3-3 Big Ten) has won 21 straight at home vs. Penn State, including 51-49 last season when the Badgers erased a 40-36 deficit with a 13-0 run. The Nittany Lions have not won in Madison, Wis., since a since a 78-67 win on Jan. 26, 1995, at the old UW Field House. Penn State (12-5, 3-3 Big Ten) is coming off an 85-66 win at home over Indiana, tying a school record by draining 18 3-pointers in its largest-ever victory over the Hoosiers. The Badgers lost 63-45 at Indiana on Saturday after trailing by just one at the half. It was Wisconsin's third consecutive loss without forward Tyler Wahl, out with an ankle injury. The preseason all-Big Ten pick leads the team with 13.2 points per game and is second in rebounding with 6.4, but more importantly his senior leadership. Wahl has shown improvement, but his status for Penn State has not been determined. |

01-17-23 | Texas v. Iowa State -2 | 67-78 | Win | 100 | 8 h 42 m | Show
Expect defense to be at the forefront and intensity to be elevated when No. 12 Iowa State hosts No. 7 Texas on Tuesday in a Big 12 Conference dustup in Ames, Iowa. The teams are tied for second place in conference play five games into the brutal Big 12 gauntlet. The Longhorns (15-2, 4-1 Big 12) head north after another gritty come-from-behind win, this one 72-70 at home against Texas Tech on Saturday. Texas has won three straight after getting walloped at home by Kansas State on Jan. 3, two of those when they were down by at least nine points at halftime. Marcus Carr led the Longhorns with 20 points and Sir'Jabari Rice added 18, including five free throws in the final 21 seconds to carry Texas to the finish line. Timmy Allen added 17 points for the Longhorns, who are 8-1 under interim coach Rodney Terry. Rice made pairs of free throws with 20.6 and 14 seconds remaining, respectively, and was fouled again with five seconds left and Texas up by two points. He went 1 of 2, keeping the margin at three points, but the Longhorns immediately fouled to eliminate the chance for a game-tying 3-pointer and were able to hold on. The second-half charge came after Terry got his team's attention with a halftime speech that served as a wake-up call. After the break, the Longhorns made 52 percent of their shots, 13 of their 15 free throws and allowed Texas Tech just eight points in the paint. |

01-17-23 | Houston v. Tulane +11 | Top | 80-60 | Loss | -110 | 7 h 45 m | Show |
No. 1 Houston welcomed a weekend off in the middle of the season. The short-handed Cougars defeated visiting South Florida 83-77 on Wednesday, their third game in seven days. Then they had five days without a game but will be back in action on Tuesday night when they meet with Tulane in New Orleans. "We got a little break here, so hopefully we can get some bodies back, get healthy, heal the wounded, feed the sick and do all that stuff and move on to the next one," Houston coach Kelvin Sampson said. "This has been a tough stretch. ... We've got so many guys out." The Cougars (17-1, 5-0 American Athletic Conference) played without second-leading scorer Jarace Walker (10.4 points per game) and key reserve Ramon Walker Jr. (15.1 minutes per game) against South Florida because of a variety of ailments. Sampson is hoping the Cougars are at full strength or close to it against Tulane. Leading scorer Marcus Sasser led the way against the Bulls by scoring a career-high 31 points, and fellow guard Jamal Shead added 20. The Cougars allowed a season-high in points to USF and trailed 53-48 with 13:40 left before going on a 20-4 run to take control. |

01-16-23 | Rockets +5.5 v. Lakers | Top | 132-140 | Loss | -110 | 11 h 52 m | Show |
After reaching a major milestone Sunday, Lakers star LeBron James will set his sights on one of the NBA's most storied records as soon as Monday when Los Angeles hosts the Houston Rockets. James reached the 38,000-point plateau in Sunday's 113-112 loss to the visiting Philadelphia 76ers and will begin to take aim at Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's record of 38,387 points as he tracks down a historic moment that figures to come next month. While Abdul-Jabbar saw a major scoring decline in his later seasons, including a 10.1 points-per-game mark in his final season of 1988-89, James is as productive as ever in his advancing age. James has averaged 29.2 points in 33 games this season after turning 38 late last month. More productivity came against the Sixers, as James scored his 12th point of the game on a jump shot from the top of the key with 5:43 remaining in the first quarter to reach 38,001 for his career. He had 16 of his 35 points in the first quarter. James has been bothered by a sore ankle as of late and was listed as probable going into Sunday's game, leaving a chance he could rest on the second night of a back-to-back. The Lakers lost their third consecutive game but have been far more competitive recently with a five-game winning streak through the first week of the month. |

01-16-23 | Celtics v. Hornets +8.5 | 130-118 | Loss | -115 | 2 h 47 m | Show
The Boston Celtics own the best record in the NBA. Now, they seem to be unleashing even more productive resources. Malcolm Brogdon has turned out to be a fine addition to the roster this season. He could be pressed into more extensive duty when the Celtics take on the Hornets on Monday afternoon in Charlotte, N.C. "I think that's what makes our team so special," Boston standout Jayson Tatum said. "We've got guys like that who are sacrificing." This will be a rematch of Boston's 122-106 victory on the same court Saturday night. The Celtics have won six in a row, with Tatum leading the team in scoring in five of those games. Yet without Jaylen Brown, the Celtics' backcourt barely missed a beat. That's because Brogdon poured in a season-high 30 points. That was the most points allowed by Charlotte to a player coming off the bench this season. |

01-15-23 | Thunder v. Nets -5 | 112-102 | Loss | -110 | 7 h 29 m | Show
In their first game without Kevin Durant for at least two weeks, the Brooklyn Nets struggled to find offense, especially down the stretch against the Boston Celtics. After producing one of their lowest-scoring games of the season, the Nets play their second game without Durant when they host the improving Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday night. Brooklyn is dealing with a knee injury to Durant for the second straight season. Sunday marks the one-year anniversary of a sprained left knee that cost him 21 games and saw the Nets lose 15 times. In their first game since Durant sprained his left knee in a collision with Jimmy Butler a week ago in Miami, the Nets were held to 16 points in the fourth quarter and could not keep pace with the NBA's best team in a 109-98 loss Thursday night. The Nets were held under 100 points for the sixth time and shot 45.2 percent after shooting at least 50 percent in 11 of their previous 15. Brooklyn also fell to 14-2 in its past 16 games and is hoping to avoid consecutive losses for the first time since Nov. 13-15, when consecutive road losses to the Los Angeles Lakers and Sacramento Kings dropped its record to 6-9. The Nets are also hoping for a more efficient showing from Kyrie Irving. Irving led Brooklyn with 24 points but also shot 9-of-24, including a 3-of-10 showing in the fourth quarter. |

01-15-23 | Memphis v. Temple +6 | Top | 61-59 | Win | 100 | 4 h 26 m | Show |
Temple will be counting on another strong performance from the team’s leading scorer Khalif Battle who is averaging 18.06 points per game for the Owls. Battle is also important to the team’s ability to score on the perimeter. So far, he leads the team in 3-point shots made. Also key to the Owls’ offensive game plan is the play of Damian Dunn who has hit 45.2% of his field goal attempts on his way to averaging 14.35 points per game. |

01-15-23 | Siena -4.5 v. Canisius | Top | 62-66 | Loss | -110 | 2 h 45 m | Show |
Canisius has not shot well collectively, shooting an awful 40% overall, one of the lowest percentages in the country. Senior guard and leading scorer Jordan Henderson (13.5 PPG) is questionable for today's game, and considering he's missed the past three games with an upper-body injury, there's a good chance he'll sit out again. The Golden Griffins have been bad defensively, letting opponents shoot 47.3% from the field and 38.4% from downtown. They're only 2-4 at home, and will be in trouble today if they can't get consistent stops. |

01-14-23 | Mavs v. Blazers -1.5 | Top | 119-136 | Win | 100 | 11 h 41 m | Show |
Luka Doncic just prevailed in a duel with LeBron James and now he has back-to-back shootouts with Damian Lillard on the slate. Two of the most dangerous shooters in the NBA will be firing away this weekend, beginning Saturday night when the Doncic-led Dallas Mavericks visit Lillard and the Portland Trail Blazers. Dallas has beaten Portland six straight times by an average of 25 points entering the two-game set. The finale is Sunday, also in Portland. Doncic leads the NBA in scoring at 34.3 points per game and has tallied 40 or more points on nine occasions, including outings of 50, 51 and his career-best 60. Lillard ranks ninth in scoring at 28.2 points and is coming off a 50-point effort in a 119-113 home loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers. It was his 13th career 50-point output during the regular season. Yet the Trail Blazers have lost a season-worst five straight games and 10 of their past 13. But somehow, Portland is the small favorite. We're not falling into this trap. |

01-14-23 | Stanford v. Washington State -6.5 | 59-60 | Loss | -110 | 6 h 53 m | Show
Washington State seeks to increase its winning streak to a season-best three games when it hosts struggling Stanford on Saturday night in Pacific-12 Conference action in Pullman, Wash. The Cougars (8-10, 3-4) recaptured their defensive magic from four days earlier when they shut down visiting Cal in the second half of a 66-51 victory Wednesday. Washington State's offense rebounded from a 3-for-10 effort on 3-pointers in the first 20 minutes and scorched the visitors in the second half with a 6-of-7 shooting stretch from long range, blowing open a game that had been just 31-30 in its favor at halftime. The Cougars were equally effective on defense in the second half, holding the Golden Bears without a 3-pointer in 11 attempts after Cal had connected on 5-of-9 in the first half. The most impressive part of the win, according to coach Kyle Smith, was that his team didn't overlook Cal after stunning then-No. 5 Arizona on the road last Saturday. |

James is also important to the team’s ability to score on the perimeter. So far, he leads the team in 3-point shots made. Also key to the Blue Hose’s offensive game plan is the play of Marquis Barnett who has hit 41.3% of his field goal attempts on his way to averaging 8.5 points per game. |

01-14-23 | Notre Dame v. Syracuse -5.5 | 73-78 | Loss | -107 | 5 h 13 m | Show
Syracuse is coming off a notable performance. Notre Dame finally won an Atlantic Coast Conference game. One team will end up with consecutive victories when they meet Saturday night in Syracuse, N.Y. Syracuse (11-6, 4-2 ACC) has a chance to stay in the upper part of the league standings if it can pull off a season sweep of the Irish. Yet it hasn't been smooth for the Orange along the way. "We've got to get a lot better," coach Jim Boeheim said. "We're a long ways away." Notre Dame (9-8, 1-5) snapped a three-game losing streak by winning 73-72 in overtime earlier this week at home vs. Georgia Tech. "We've still got 14 more games to prove it and get back on tr |

01-14-23 | Jackson State +4.5 v. Prairie View A&M | Top | 50-59 | Loss | -115 | 5 h 24 m | Show |
Offensive production has been hard to come by for Prairie View A&M this season, as they are currently ranked 252nd in college basketball at 69.5 points per game. A major reason for low-scoring totals is the fact that they have played at a below-average pace, and have struggled to knock down outside shots. As a team, the Panthers’ 3-point shooting percentage sits at just 34.7%, placing them 201st in the NCAA. |

Alabama (14-2, 4-0 SEC) faced its biggest conference test to date when it visited No. 15 Arkansas on Wednesday night and prevailed 84-69. "Tough road win," Alabama coach Nate Oats said. "Our guys showed that they've got some toughness, character and some grit. "Couldn't be more proud of them. Continue to get better every game. We've just got to keep getting a little bit better every game, staying in this hunt for the SEC championship." The victory was Alabama's third on the road against a ranked team, joining wins against No. 1 Houston and then-No. 21 Mississippi State. |

01-14-23 | Arkansas v. Vanderbilt +3.5 | Top | 84-97 | Win | 100 | 3 h 56 m | Show |
When they meet for the first time this season Saturday afternoon in Nashville, Tenn., No. 15 Arkansas and Vanderbilt need to turn their young Southeastern Conference campaigns around. For Arkansas (12-4, 1-3 SEC), a team that had high hopes, that need is immediate. After winning 12 of their first 14 games and getting mentioned in a group of early SEC favorites as a possible Final Four contender, the Razorbacks have lost their last two games against ranked opponents. The team's current stumbles can be traced back to a pair of unfortunate occurrences earlier in the season. Freshman sensation Nick Smith Jr. was sidelined early in the campaign with soreness in his right knee. That led to more missed games and an update from soreness to "right knee management." The ailment currently persists for the talented 6-foot-5 guard -- a five-star talent who can create his own shot and run the offense through him. |

01-14-23 | Georgia +6 v. Ole Miss | Top | 62-58 | Win | 100 | 2 h 2 m | Show |

The Bulldogs (12-4, 2-1) are coming off a 58-50 win over Mississippi State on Wednesday, while the Rebels (8-8, 0-4) dropped their fifth straight game with an 82-73 loss at home to No. 21 Auburn on Tuesday. Georgia, which has already doubled its win total from last season when it went 6-26, scored its final 14 points from the free-throw line to secure its first win in six meetings against Mississippi State. |

01-14-23 | West Virginia v. Oklahoma -3.5 | 76-77 | Loss | -103 | 1 h 7 m | Show
Saturday's game is West Virginia's first since the firing of associate head coach Larry Harrison. Harrison had been on Huggins' staff since Huggins arrived at West Virginia in 2007 and had coached under Huggins for eight seasons at Cincinnati. On his weekly radio show Thursday, Huggins said he "wasn't as involved as it's being portrayed I was" in the decision to dismiss Harrison. The Mountaineers (10-6, 0-4 Big 12) are looking to avoid just their second 0-5 start since joining the league. To do that, West Virginia would have to snap a seven-game regular-season losing streak to Oklahoma, its longest current streak in the conference. The Sooners (10-6, 1-3) have dropped three conference games by a combined eight points, including Tuesday's 79-75 loss at No. 2 Kansas. |

01-13-23 | Rockets +9.5 v. Kings | Top | 114-139 | Loss | -110 | 10 h 0 m | Show |
Houston Rockets big man Alperen Sengun gets a rare encore performance on the road when he and his mates duel the host Sacramento Kings in a rematch Friday night. While most in attendance were watching Sacramento's Domantas Sabonis pursue a 22nd career triple-double, Sengun snatched a very first of his own with 10 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in the Rockets' 135-115 loss in the California capital on Wednesday. Sabonis failed on his bid to triple-up, going for 25 points, 14 rebounds and nine assists, but joined with Sacramento's own surprise contributor -- Trey Lyles -- to rally the Kings from a fourth-quarter deficit to a win not nearly as one-sided as the final score might indicate. Paced by Sengun, the Rockets led by as many as eight and 101-100 with 8:44 to go before Lyles had 12 points in the Kings' 35-14, game-ending flurry. While the defeat went down simply as an eighth straight for the Rockets, it proved historic for Sengun, who at age 20 became the youngest in franchise history to record a triple-double. He also was the first Rockets center to post a triple-double since Hakeem Olajuwon in 1997. |

01-13-23 | Warriors -8.5 v. Spurs | 144-113 | Win | 100 | 8 h 34 m | Show
The San Antonio Spurs and Golden State Warriors will participate in a history-making game on Friday in the Alamo City. The game will be played in the Alamodome in a game expected to break the NBA regular-season attendance record. As of Wednesday, the Spurs had sold more than 63,000 tickets, which eclipses the standing record of 62,046 that watched the Bulls and Hawks play in 1998 in the Georgia Dome. The stated capacity for the Alamodome for Friday's game is 68,000, which would include standing-room tickets. The previous record for an NBA game at the stadium, which was the home of the Spurs from 1993-2002, is 39,554 for San Antonio's Game 2 win against the Knicks in the 1999 NBA Finals. The largest crowd in NBA history was established in 2010 when 108,713 fans saw the All-Star Game at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. |

Through 16 games, they have only hit 34.0% of their 3-point field goal attempts. For the season, 45.57% of their shots have come from beyond the arc. |

01-12-23 | Northern Colorado v. CS Sacramento -3.5 | Top | 64-72 | Win | 100 | 8 h 3 m | Show |

|||||||
01-12-23 | Stephen F Austin -2.5 v. Utah Tech | 85-72 | Win | 100 | 8 h 38 m | Show
Offensive production has been hard to come by for Utah Tech this season, as they are currently ranked 163rd in college basketball at 72.5 points per game. A major reason for low scoring totals is the fact that they have played at a below average pace, and have struggled to knock down outside shots. As a team, the Trailblazers’ 3-point shooting percentage sits at just 31.4%, placing them 391st in the NCAA. |
|||||||
01-12-23 | North Dakota State v. Denver | Top | 90-70 | Win | 100 | 8 h 54 m | Show |
North Dakota State comes into the game looking to control the pace of play, as they are just 434th in possessions per game. Even with their preference to slow the game down, the Bison’s are scoring at a rate similar to the NCAA average at 74.8 points per game. So far, 37.33% of their shots have come from beyond the arc, where they have connected at a rate of 35.8%. |
|||||||
01-12-23 | Northern Kentucky v. Wisc-Milwaukee | 75-80 | Win | 100 | 7 h 17 m | Show
On the road, the Norse have a sub 500 record, going 1-2. In terms of the spread, the team has yet to beat it on the road, going 0-3. Currently ranked 2nd in the division, Northern Kentucky averages 66.8 points per game, shooting 42.6% from the field, and 33% from deep. Meanwhile, they allow opposing offenses to total 64.2 points per game on average, consisting of them shooting 43.1% from the field, and 39% from three. The Norse have failed to cover in their past three games. |

01-12-23 | Drexel -4.5 v. Stony Brook | 66-67 | Loss | -110 | 7 h 42 m | Show

01-11-23 | Spurs v. Grizzlies -13.5 | Top | 129-135 | Loss | -110 | 6 h 1 m | Show |
Two days after a 121-113 win over San Antonio, the Memphis Grizzlies host the Spurs again Wednesday night planning to welcome Ja Morant back to the lineup and gunning for their eighth consecutive victory. Despite playing without Morant (right thigh), the Grizzlies had seven players score in double figures Monday. Tyus Jones had a team-high 24 points and dished out six assists in the comeback win. It was his second straight game starting in place of Morant and his second straight 20-plus point outing. Steven Adams added a double-double (13 points, 15 rebounds) in his return from a one-game absence (illness). Jaren Jackson Jr. had 16 points and five blocks, while Dillon Brooks and Desmond Bane added 15 points apiece in the win. Santi Aldama and Ziaire Williams added 13 and 11 points, respectively, off the bench. The Grizzlies led for three quarters until an 11-1 run to open the fourth quarter gave the Spurs a 103-98 lead with less than nine to play. But a key steal by Brooks late in the fourth quarter, which led to Bane making a 3-pointer, helped Memphis to a 116-109 lead with 4:29 to play in the game. The Grizzlies never trailed the rest of the way. |

01-11-23 | Wolves v. Pistons +6.5 | 118-135 | Win | 100 | 5 h 14 m | Show
The Minnesota Timberwolves have gotten hot since an embarrassing home loss to the Detroit Pistons to end 2022. They'll be looking for a little revenge when they visit Detroit on Wednesday. Detroit won the first meeting 116-104 on New Year's Eve by outscoring Minnesota 66-40 in the second half. That was the Timberwolves' sixth straight loss, but they've turned things around in January. Minnesota is 4-0 this month, including a 104-96 victory at Houston on Sunday. The victory didn't come easy, though. The Timberwolves trailed by as many as 20 in the first half and were still down by four entering the fourth quarter. Then they held the Rockets to 15 points in the final 12 minutes while scoring 27 of their own to win it. "It was literally a matter of whenever we were going to sit down and start guarding people, we'd get back in the game, no matter what the deficit was," Minnesota coach Chris Finch said. D'Angelo Russell had a team-high 22 points in the game and backcourt partner Anthony Edwards added 21 despite left-hip soreness. |
|||||||
01-11-23 | Bulls v. Wizards -1 | 97-100 | Win | 100 | 5 h 10 m | Show
A tough road loss isn't about to discourage the Chicago Bulls, who appear to be on the upswing at the season's midway point. And they will look to return to the win column when they visit the Washington Wizards on Wednesday. Chicago had won eight of 11 games before it came out on the losing end of a 107-99 decision against the Boston Celtics on Monday. Zach LaVine led Chicago with 27 points, including 15 in the fourth quarter. Nikola Vucevic added 21 points and 13 rebounds. The loss snapped a three-game winning streak for Chicago, which trailed by two points with two minutes remaining against the Eastern Conference-leading Celtics. |

01-11-23 | Alabama +1.5 v. Arkansas | 84-69 | Win | 100 | 6 h 23 m | Show
With a trio of convincing double-digit victories to open SEC play, No. 4 Alabama soars into a matchup against No. 15 Arkansas on Wednesday at Fayetteville, Ark. Inching back up in the rankings after they were No. 4 a mere four weeks ago, the Crimson Tide (13-2, 3-0 SEC) regained their top-four status after a convincing 78-52 victory at home over Kentucky on Saturday. Freshman Brandon Miller scored 19 points with seven rebounds, Mark Sears had 16 points with six rebounds, six steals and four assists, while Jahvon Quinerly had 12 points. In shooting 48.1 percent from the field, and 51.6 percent in the second half, Alabama handed Kentucky its largest true road loss since February 2013. |
|||||||
01-11-23 | Memphis v. UCF -1 | 104-107 | Win | 100 | 6 h 37 m | Show
Many feel as if this is the Tigers' easy winner, but they've failed to cover five straight games and the Knights seem to handle bad road teams at home. |
|||||||
01-11-23 | High Point v. Charleston Southern +2 | Top | 69-106 | Win | 100 | 6 h 26 m | Show |
Offensive production has been hard to come by for High Point this season, as they are currently ranked 251st in college basketball at 69.5 points per game. A major reason for low-scoring totals is the fact that they have played at a below-average pace, and have struggled to knock down outside shots. As a team, the Panthers’ 3-point shooting percentage sits at just 33.5%, placing them 283rd in the NCAA. |
|||||||
01-11-23 | Monmouth v. Hofstra -18.5 | Top | 57-77 | Win | 100 | 6 h 6 m | Show |
The Monmouth Hawks had a terrible game offensively last time out as they were only able to score 35 points on 13-of-48 (27.1 percent) from the floor and 2-of-12 (16.7 percent) from beyond the arc. I'm not backing that stat line with my money tonight. |
|||||||
01-10-23 | VCU -3 v. Loyola-Chicago | 78-64 | Win | 100 | 7 h 31 m | Show
If you've been following Loyola this season, you know that they're not who you want your money behind after failing to cover 13 of their last 16 games. |
|||||||
01-10-23 | Michigan State v. Wisconsin | Top | 69-65 | Win | 100 | 6 h 10 m | Show |
No. 18 Wisconsin will try to bounce back from its first conference loss when it hosts Michigan State in a Big Ten matchup Tuesday night in Madison, Wis., but much rides on the status of Badgers forward Tyler Wahl. Wisconsin (11-3, 3-1 Big Ten) lost 79-69 at Illinois on Saturday without Wahl, the team's leading scorer (13.2 ppg) and second-leading rebounder (6.4), who injured his right ankle in the previous game. The Badgers are a different team without the preseason all-Big Ten pick. Michigan State (11-4, 3-1) won at home, 59-53, over arch-rival Michigan on Saturday, the Spartans' sixth consecutive victory. Wisconsin went into Illinois allowing just 61.2 points per contest but allowed the Illini to shoot 10 of 19 from 3-point range |
|||||||
01-09-23 | Prairie View A&M v. Arkansas-Pine Bluff +3.5 | 55-63 | Win | 100 | 9 h 2 m | Show
The Golden Lions have covered five of their last seven games at home and five of seven against teams playing under .400 ball on the season. I'll take the plus points here. |
|||||||
01-08-23 | Jazz +7.5 v. Grizzlies | 118-123 | Win | 100 | 8 h 36 m | Show
Despite trading their three-time All-Stars in Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert this past offseason, the Jazz has been bolstered by the much-improved Lauri Markkanen, who continues to play at an All-Star level. The Finnish big man had 49 points Thursday in a 131-114 win in Houston, and he dropped in 28 during a rough 126-118 loss at Chicago on Saturday. Markkanen has improved remarkably in the two seasons since his four-year tenure at Chicago ended. He spent the 2021-22 season with the Cleveland Cavaliers. |
|||||||
01-08-23 | Rider v. Siena -4.5 | 63-68 | Win | 100 | 4 h 35 m | Show
The Rider Broncs are 219th and the nation in scoring with an average of 70.1 points per game. Rider has a 43.4% field goal shooting percentage and a 32.0 percent 3-point shooting percentage. I don't see the Broncs being able to stay with the Saints for 40 minutes. |
|||||||
01-08-23 | Niagara -3 v. Manhattan | 59-64 | Loss | -105 | 4 h 32 m | Show
The Purple Eagles are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games overall ATS and 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games following a straight-up win. Jaspers are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 home games vs. a team with a losing road record |
|||||||
01-08-23 | Loyola Maryland v. Holy Cross -1.5 | 55-63 | Win | 100 | 3 h 40 m | Show
Offensive production has been hard to come by for Loyola Maryland this season, as they are currently ranked 353rd in college basketball at 66.1 points per game. A major reason for low-scoring totals is the fact that they have played at a below-average pace, and have struggled to knock down outside shots. As a team, the Greyhounds’ 3-point shooting percentage sits at just 31.9%, placing them 369th in the NCAA. |
|||||||
01-08-23 | Northwestern +6.5 v. Indiana | 84-83 | Win | 100 | 2 h 42 m | Show
There's never a good time to be without two key starters who boast over 6,000 minutes of college basketball experience, but No. 15 Indiana could be particularly affected in a meeting with visiting Northwestern on Sunday at Bloomington. Indiana point guard Xavier Johnson has missed the last two games, including Thursday's 91-89 loss to Iowa, and doesn't appear to be returning any time soon due to a foot injury. Hoosiers forward Race Thompson injured his right leg Thursday and is expected to miss multiple games. Indiana (10-4, 1-2 Big Ten) starts a stretch of three games in seven days against Northwestern (11-3, 2-1), which is coming off an impressive 73-60 victory at home over Illinois. The Wildcats will be the team that can lean into its experience. Their lineup features three seniors -- Chase Audige, Boo Buie and Robbie Beran -- who have combined for over 7,000 career minutes. |
|||||||
01-07-23 | Lakers v. Kings -8 | 136-134 | Loss | -110 | 11 h 56 m | Show
The Los Angeles Lakers will attempt to stretch their season-best winning streak to five games when they visit the Sacramento Kings on Saturday night. Los Angeles has been trying to dig out of an early season 2-10 hole and has yet to reach the .500 mark this season. But the recent run, which includes a 130-114 home victory over the Atlanta Hawks on Friday, has Los Angeles sitting at 18-21. LeBron James is encouraged after the team's recent performances, which have come without fellow star Anthony Davis (foot). "We're playing some good basketball," James said after the Friday victory. "We've got to continue to keep stacking quarters, keep stacking halves and keep stacking games because we're a team that gets a little confidence and then we want to keep going." James sat out the Lakers' 112-109 home win over the Miami Heat on Wednesday due to an illness. He returned to have a solid all-around game against the Hawks with 25 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds. The 38-year-old veteran has scored 30 or more points in nine of his past 12 appearances. |
|||||||
01-06-23 | Blazers +1.5 v. Pacers | 99-108 | Loss | -110 | 10 h 42 m | Show
The Trail Blazers were ready for the Pacers in the teams' previous encounter on Dec. 4. Jerami Grant scored 28 points and Damian Lillard added 21 in his first game in over two weeks due to a calf strain. While Portland was victorious on that night, it has lost five of its last seven games overall. The Trail Blazers began their three-game road trip with a 113-106 setback to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday. "I think we're just really inconsistent right now," Lillard said. "Not only from game to game but from quarter to quarter. We're just not able to sustain that level of focus, that level of urgency, the energy." Lillard scored 27 points and Grant added 26, despite being hobbled with a left quad contusion. Those performances notwithstanding, Portland coach Chauncey Billups took issue with the team's approach right out of the chute. The Trail Blazers committed 18 turnovers that led to 22 points by the Timberwolves. |

01-05-23 | Purdue v. Ohio State -1.5 | 71-69 | Loss | -110 | 14 h 49 m | Show
Top-ranked Purdue enters uncharted territory when it plays No. 24 Ohio State on Thursday in Columbus, Ohio. The Boilermakers (13-1, 2-1 Big Ten) will be looking to rebound from their first loss of the season, a 65-64 setback against visiting Rutgers on Monday. "Worry about the next one. It's 10 weeks," Purdue coach Matt Painter said. "You guys (the media) follow it, but you don't live it. You can get yourself on a roller coaster if you want. I'm not a big fan of roller coasters. "You've got to get back to what you do well. We've got to take better shots. We've got to get some perimeter guys that are consistent shooters. That would be a great start for us." While the Boilermakers stumbled in their latest outing, the Buckeyes (10-3, 2-0) should be full of confidence following a 73-57 win at Northwestern on Sunday. Ohio State limited the Wildcats, who missed 24 of their first 27 shots, to 19-of-67 shooting (28.4 percent) from the floor for the game. |
|||||||
01-05-23 | Stony Brook -1.5 v. Monmouth | 67-56 | Win | 100 | 10 h 46 m | Show
Stony Brook has played slightly better on the road over their last several games, they beat Northeastern in their last road game, and they lost to Wager by just 3 on the road several weeks ago. Stony Brook's only recent double digit loss on the road was to a tough West Viriginia team that beat them by 11. |
|||||||
01-05-23 | Maryland v. Rutgers -5.5 | 50-64 | Win | 100 | 14 h 52 m | Show
Giant-killer Rutgers is drawing attention again. Just over a year after the Scarlet Knights toppled No. 1 Purdue, they pulled off another stunning upset of the No. 1 Boilermakers on Monday, handing the Big Ten Conference foe their first loss for the second straight year. With a sellout crowd set to greet the conquering heroes Thursday in Piscataway, N.J., Rutgers (10-4, 2-1 Big Ten) tries to continue its roll against visiting Maryland (10-4, 1-2). The Scarlet Knights enter on a high following their 65-64 win at Purdue. Paul Mulcahy scored 16 points with eight rebounds, six assists, four steals, and zero turnovers. He scored nine of his points in the final six minutes. The Scarlet Knights' Cam Spencer added 14 points and knocked down the game-winning 3-pointer with 14 seconds left. It was the fourth straight win for Rutgers, which has been led this season by 6-foot-11 Cliff Omoruyi, who averages 14.8 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks, all team highs. Omoruyi could present problems for Maryland, which has a small front court and has gotten inconsistent play from 6-9 forward Julian Reese, who has been slowed by a shoulder injury and foul problems. |

01-04-23 | Connecticut v. Providence +5 | Top | 61-73 | Win | 100 | 11 h 48 m | Show |
Two of the elite teams in the Big East Conference meet Wednesday when fourth-ranked UConn goes on the road to play Providence. The Friars (12-3, 4-0 Big East) opened Big East play with four consecutive wins for the first time in the program's history by prevailing 74-59 over DePaul on Sunday in Chicago. Providence and Xavier (12-3, 4-0) are tied for first place and are the only unbeaten teams in the conference. Providence sophomore Devin Carter, a transfer from South Carolina, tied his career high by scoring 22 points against the Blue Demons. He also had five steals and four blocked shots. The Friars received 18 points from Jared Bynum, and 12 points and eight rebounds from Bryce Hopkins. Hopkins owns team-best averages of 15.7 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. |
|||||||
01-04-23 | Evansville v. Missouri State -14 | 62-85 | Win | 100 | 10 h 21 m | Show
The Bears rank 46th nationally -- and tops in the MVC -- in bench points per game (27.36). Missouri State's 55 bench points at Oral Roberts on Dec. 16 matched the most points ever by MSU's reserves (also done on 3/7/20 vs. Valpo) and set a club record for most bench points in a road game. MSU also ranks 6th nationally in bench minutes (43.2 pct.) per game with Bear reserves scoring at least 20 points in 11-of-14 games this season and combining for 30 points on 5 occasions.

|||||||
01-04-23 | New Mexico State v. Stephen F Austin -2.5 | 60-69 | Win | 100 | 10 h 1 m | Show
The Aggies will have to contend with one of the nation’s top pressure defenses as the Lumberjacks rank sixth in the nation in turnovers forced and 24th in the country in steals per game. Additionally, while they don’t shoot the ball often (ranked 327th in three-point attempts per game), SFA does shoot the long ball efficiently (ranked 15th in the country in three-point percentage). |
|||||||
01-04-23 | Tulsa v. Tulane -13 | 77-93 | Win | 100 | 10 h 46 m | Show
Tulsa has covered just one game all season long, so there's no reason to go against that trend and streak that has reached 10 straight games. Tulane isn't exactly going to give you a tremendous amount of confidence but I can't bet a team that has failed to cover 21 of their last 27 dating back to last season. |
|||||||
01-03-23 | Wizards v. Bucks -7.5 | 113-123 | Win | 100 | 11 h 46 m | Show
The Washington Wizards can claim their sixth consecutive win and second against the host Milwaukee Bucks in three days when the two teams meet again on Tuesday. Washington extended its ongoing run to five games and six of the last seven on Sunday with a 118-95 rout in Milwaukee. The Wizards were without Bradley Beal, who missed his third consecutive game with a hamstring injury, but successfully capitalized on the Bucks playing without two-time league MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo. Washington attacked the interior with Kristaps Porzingis going for 22 points and Rui Hachimura delivering 26 points off the bench. Sunday marked Hachimura's fifth consecutive double-figure-scoring effort since returning to the lineup, including his third game of 21 points or more. It bumped his average over the last six to 19 points per game. |
|||||||
01-02-23 | Nuggets v. Wolves +2.5 | 111-124 | Win | 100 | 10 h 58 m | Show
When the Minnesota Timberwolves acquired Rudy Gobert from Utah this offseason, it looked like he might be the final piece they needed to become a contender. But with a new calendar year upon it, Minnesota is far from the top and searching for answers. The Timberwolves have lost six in a row, the last a demoralizing home loss to the Detroit Pistons on Saturday night, and now face the top team in the Western Conference when the Denver Nuggets come to Minneapolis on Monday night. Minnesota is five games under .500 and sits 11th in the Western Conference. Center Karl-Anthony Towns has not played since Nov. 28 due to a right calf strain but should be returning shortly, but he won't play against Denver, which makes the task of defending two-time MVP Nikola Jokic that much tougher. Minnesota is 6-10 since Towns went out with the injury. Gobert has faced Jokic many times when he was with the Jazz, and Monday should be another challenge for him. |
|||||||
01-02-23 | West Virginia +3 v. Oklahoma State | 60-67 | Loss | -105 | 10 h 35 m | Show
No. 24 West Virginia and Oklahoma State are in the same boat going into Monday night's Big 12 Conference contest in Stillwater, Okla. Both teams built double-digit first-half leads on the road Saturday, but then both coughed up those leads with stretches of bad basketball. The Mountaineers led 17-3 at Kansas State but fell 82-76 in overtime, while the Cowboys surrendered a 15-point halftime advantage in a 69-67 defeat at No. 4 Kansas. Instead of enjoying a solid road win in West Virginia's case, or scoring a signature road win in Oklahoma State's case, both have little time to lick their wounds. |
|||||||
01-02-23 | Rutgers v. Purdue -8.5 | 65-64 | Loss | -105 | 9 h 25 m | Show
Last season, the Purdue Boilermakers were ranked No. 1 for the first time when they traveled to Rutgers, and a dramatic loss made their stay at the top of the poll a short one. The Boilermakers could be No. 1 for the fourth straight week and are hoping to avoid another loss to Rutgers when the teams get together Monday night in West Lafayette, Ind. Purdue (13-0, 2-0 Big Ten) was off to an 8-0 start when it was elevated to No. 1 in the Dec. 6, 2021 poll. On Dec. 9, the Scarlet Knights earned a 70-68 win in the raucous setting of Piscataway, N.J., when Ron Harper Jr. heaved in a halfcourt 3-pointer at the buzzer. This year, Harper is on a two-way contract with the Toronto Raptors and the Boilermakers are off to their first 13-0 start since opening 14-0 in 2009-10, which matched the 1993-94 school record for an unbeaten start. Purdue began this season unranked, climbed to fourth, and was elevated to the top spot after its 65-62 overtime win at Nebraska on Dec. 10. As a top-ranked team, Purdue is 3-0, having followed up an eight-point win over Davidson with blowouts over New Orleans and Florida A&M. |
|||||||
01-01-23 | Kings +5 v. Grizzlies | 108-118 | Loss | -110 | 14 h 53 m | Show
One game was agonizing enough for Domantas Sabonis to sit out with a right thumb injury, and his past two performances contributed to two electrifying wins for the Sacramento Kings, who describe the forward as a walking double-double. Sabonis and the Kings look to usher in 2023 with a third straight win when the surprising Pacific Division leaders visit the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday night. At 19-15, the Kings are six percentage points ahead of the Los Angeles Clippers for the division lead after getting one-point home wins over the Denver Nuggets and Utah Jazz. Sabonis sat out Tuesday's 113-106 loss to Denver with an avulsion fracture of his ulnar collateral ligament after being hurt in the fourth quarter against the Washington Wizards on Dec. 23. In Sacramento's past two wins, Sabonis continued to rack up double-doubles. On Friday, he totaled 28 points and 11 rebounds for his 12th straight double-double and 25th overall. Sabonis joined DeMarcus Cousins and LaSalle Thompson as the only players in franchise history with double-doubles in 12 straight games or more. |
|||||||
01-01-23 | Tulsa +8.5 v. SMU | Top | 67-92 | Loss | -110 | 10 h 50 m | Show |
Most will run away from Tulsa after failing to cover 9 straight games, but the number has risen to a level that I'm not willing to lay. The Mustangs aren't exactly cashing tickets consistently with a 5-8 ATS record. The road team in this series has covered 20 of their last 28 meetings. |
|||||||
12-31-22 | Loyola Marymount v. Pacific +4.5 | Top | 72-78 | Win | 100 | 6 h 21 m | Show |
Offensive production has been hard to come by for Loyola Marymount this season, as they are currently ranked 257th in college basketball at 69.3 points per game. A major reason for low-scoring totals is the fact that they have played at a below-average pace, and have struggled to knock down outside shots. As a team, the Lions’ 3-point shooting percentage sits at just 34.4%, placing them 218th in the NCAA. |
|||||||
12-31-22 | San Jose State v. Colorado State -8 | Top | 78-70 | Loss | -115 | 6 h 42 m | Show |
Four Rams players are averaging double-digit points on the year. Isaiah Stevens had made up for lost time after missing the early part of the season. He debuted on November 30th and in the seven games, he has played the senior guard has averaged 17.1 points on 50% shooting from the field. He has scored in double digits in all games played and has logged three games of 20 or more points. He also averages six assists and two rebounds per game. |
|||||||
12-31-22 | New Mexico v. Wyoming +3.5 | Top | 76-75 | Win | 100 | 6 h 34 m | Show |
Wyoming (5-8, 0-1) rallied from 18 points down at Fresno State on Wednesday before falling 58-53. The Cowboys held Fresno State to 1-of-23 shooting from the field in one stretch of the second half to rally back. "Hopefully, this is a game we can build off of by the way we played defensively in the second half," Wyoming coach Jeff Linder said. "You can't spot a team an 18-point lead. But that's when we had the sense of urgency to guard." Noah Reynolds gave the Cowboys their first lead of the second half, 51-49, on a layup with 3:11 left. He made another layup with 1:36 remaining that put Wyoming ahead, 53-51, but that ended the scoring for the Cowboys. Jemarl Baker hit a go-ahead 3-pointer off an offensive rebound with 1:01 left and the Bulldogs tacked on four free throws to cement the win. Reynolds leads the Cowboys with 14.8 points per game on 53.5 percent shooting from the field. |

12-30-22 | North Carolina -5.5 v. Pittsburgh | Top | 74-76 | Loss | -110 | 3 h 21 m | Show |
There have been signs that No. 25 North Carolina is getting into a groove, and now after a more than a week layoff, the Tar Heels have another chance to show their improvement. North Carolina will begin the sizable portion of its Atlantic Coast Conference schedule by visiting Pittsburgh on Friday afternoon. "I feel like we're in a great situation and our group is definitely battle-tested," Tar Heels guard Caleb Love said. "It's good for us when our back is against the wall and how we fight back. Anything thrown at us, we're going to overcome it." North Carolina (9-4, 1-1 ACC) has won four games in a row. Pittsburgh (9-4, 2-0) will be playing its ACC home opener. The Tar Heels have displayed a more intense nature in recent games. |

12-29-22 | Colorado +2.5 v. Stanford | Top | 73-70 | Win | 100 | 13 h 22 m | Show |
Colorado and Stanford hope to display new-and-improved editions when they meet Thursday night in Palo Alto, Calif., in a renewal of the Pac-12 men's basketball schedule. Neither team recorded a win in conference play in two opportunities each earlier this month, with the Buffaloes (8-5, 0-2) falling at home to Arizona State and at Washington, while the Cardinal (5-7, 0-2) were beaten at home by UCLA and at Arizona State. Colorado has made the most of four home dates since its 73-63 loss at Washington on Dec. 4, beating Colorado State, North Alabama, Northern Colorado, and Southern Utah by a total of 71 points. The Buffaloes not only used the time away from Pac-12 play to improve emotionally but also physically, with forwards Luke O'Brien and Lawson Lovering now ready to return to action. |

12-29-22 | Tulane +4.5 v. Cincinnati | Top | 77-88 | Loss | -110 | 12 h 36 m | Show |
Tulane will be counting on another strong performance from the team’s leading scorer Jaylen Forbes who is averaging 16.82 points per game for the Green Wave. Forbes is also important to the team’s ability to score on the perimeter. So far, he leads the team in 3-point shots made. Also key to the Green Wave’s offensive game plan is the play of Kevin Cross who has hit 51.3% of his field goal attempts on his way to averaging 14.18 points per game. On offense, Tulane comes into the game looking to control the pace of play, as they are just 392nd in possessions per game. Even with their preference to slow the game down, the Green Wave’s scoring at a rate similar to the NCAA average of 73.1 points per game. So far, 38.63% of their shots have come from beyond the arc, where they have connected at a rate of 36.4%. |

12-29-22 | Providence v. Butler -1.5 | Top | 72-52 | Loss | -110 | 10 h 47 m | Show |
It's likely going to take a lot more than a Christmas break to slow down Providence. The Friars have rattled off five straight wins and will find out if their momentum stuck around through the holiday hiatus when they travel to Indianapolis for a meeting with Butler on Thursday night. Providence (10-3, 2-0 Big East) made sure to keep itself off the naughty list, heading into Christmas on the heels of a thrilling 103-98 double-overtime victory against then-No. 24 Marquette on Dec. 20. Bryce Hopkins led the Friars with 29 points and 23 rebounds, both career highs. Devin Carter and Ed Croswell added 20 points apiece and Jared Bynum supplied 16 points and eight rebounds. Although the team will be back in action, classes still will be on hold for nearly three more weeks, meaning basketball becomes the sole focus -- something that the team is relishing. Despite all that, the number suggests a Bulldogs upset. |

12-28-22 | Air Force v. San Diego State -16 | Top | 55-71 | Push | 0 | 13 h 58 m | Show |
The Falcons have covered seven straight games while the Aztecs are coming off a less-than-impressive performance against UCSD. The bookmakers are laying another trap, begging you to take the Falcons, we're not falling for that as the Aztecs crush Air Force to give us one last win on the night. |

12-28-22 | Arkansas v. LSU +4.5 | Top | 57-60 | Win | 100 | 11 h 12 m | Show |
A pair of one-loss Southeastern Conference foes open the league season with a showdown on Wednesday night when No. 9 Arkansas battles LSU at Baton Rouge, La. The Razorbacks (11-1) have won seven straight games and are playing their first true road game of the season. LSU (11-1) owns a six-game winning streak and is 8-0 at home. Arkansas was predicted to bring a lofty record into SEC play after reaching the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament in each of the past two seasons. LSU's early season success wasn't a guarantee with former Murray State coach Matt McMahon taking over after the end of the controversial Will Wade tenure. But McMahon's rebuilding process received a boost when two of his key Murray State players elected to follow him -- big man KJ Williams and guard Justice Hill. |

12-28-22 | Wolves +6.5 v. Pelicans | Top | 118-119 | Win | 100 | 10 h 48 m | Show |
The New Orleans Pelicans just played one of their better games of the season while short-handed. They expect to be stronger when they host the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday night. On Monday night, the Pelicans defeated the visiting Indiana Pacers 113-93 despite the absence of their top two scorers: Zion Williamson (illness) and Brandon Ingram (toe). In addition, another starter, Herbert Jones Jr., was sidelined due to health and safety protocol. Two more key rotation players, Trey Murphy III and Dyson Daniels, also were out, both because of non-COVID illnesses. Williamson, who has missed the past three games, said after practice Tuesday that he would play against the Wolves, and coach Willie Green said Murphy and Daniels are probable. Ingram will miss the Wednesday contest, and Jones was listed as questionable. New Orleans gave at least 17 minutes to all nine players that were available Monday and all but one scored. |

12-28-22 | Mercer v. Samford -1.5 | 69-78 | Win | 100 | 10 h 37 m | Show
Samford is scoring a rate similar to the NCAA average at 74.7 points per game. This figure has come despite struggling to knock down shots from outside. Through 13 games, they have only hit 33.5% of their 3-point field goal attempts. For the season, 42.61% of their shots have come from beyond the arc. |

12-28-22 | Kentucky -3 v. Missouri | Top | 75-89 | Loss | -105 | 9 h 21 m | Show |
Kentucky coach John Calipari is bringing a lengthy to-do list as the No. 19 Wildcats begin Southeastern Conference play at Missouri on Wednesday night. The Wildcats (8-3) have lost to Michigan State, Gonzaga, and UCLA. They most recently defeated Florida A&M 88-68 last Wednesday, but they led by just seven points with 5:35 left and Calipari was vexed by his team's defense. "We've got work to do now. We do," Calipari said after the game. "We didn't defend today like we've been defending. It's crazy. I mean, the one thing that we could rely on is that we would really, really guard. Well, they beat us on the bounce, they beat us shooting threes, they beat us offensive rebounding." Now Kentucky must travel to Columbia, Mo., to face the tough Tigers (11-1, 0-0 SEC) as Missouri comes off a 93-71 neutral-court upset of then-No. 16 Illinois on Thursday. |

12-27-22 | Lakers +3.5 v. Magic | Top | 129-110 | Win | 100 | 10 h 38 m | Show |
Two teams trending in opposite directions will meet when the Orlando Magic host the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday night. While Orlando has won eight of its last nine, Los Angeles has lost four in a row. The Lakers began a five-game trip with a 124-115 loss to the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday. After taking a nine-point lead into halftime, Los Angeles was outscored 51-21 during a disastrous third quarter. "We have to know that it's a 48-minute game; it's not a 24-minute game," Los Angeles coach Darvin Ham said. "We kind of took our foot off the pedal defensively. To give up a 51-point third quarter is just unacceptable. It's completely unacceptable. That's not who we are. That's not who we're going to be." Lakers star LeBron James scored 38 points in the loss. His seven-game streak of at least 30 points is the longest active streak in the league. Los Angeles is being forced to rely on James minus center Anthony Davis, who is out indefinitely with a stress injury in his right foot. The line is telling us that the Lakers are to break the Orlando cover streak here. |

12-27-22 | Jacksonville v. Notre Dame -7.5 | Top | 43-59 | Win | 100 | 9 h 16 m | Show |
Notre Dame will look to snap a three-game losing streak on Tuesday night when it hosts Jacksonville in its final nonconference game of the season at South Bend, Ind. Notre Dame (7-5) won its lone previous matchup against Jacksonville (7-3) in 2018. The Fighting Irish, who have dropped four of their past five overall, including falling into an 0-2 hole to start Atlantic Coast Conference play, need a win before jumping back into conference action with a difficult test on Friday against No. 14 Miami, which currently sits atop the ACC. Notre Dame appeared ready to correct its course last week before blowing an 11-point lead and losing 73-72 to Florida State on Wednesday. One of the Fighting Irish's strengths this season has been their 3-point shooting, averaging 8.9 made triples per game thanks in large part to Dane Goodwin (46.2 percent from deep), Cormac Ryan (45.6 percent) and Nate Laszewski (42.9 percent). |

12-26-22 | Hornets v. Blazers -6 | Top | 113-124 | Win | 100 | 25 h 23 m | Show |
The Charlotte Hornets experience nothing but trouble in Portland and they aim to end a 14-game skid in the Rose City when they visit the Trail Blazers on Monday night. Charlotte last won in Portland on March 29, 2008 when the team was known as the Bobcats and Emeka Okafor was the squad's high scorer with 21 points. Trail Blazers icon Damian Lillard was a high school senior. The Hornets will take another shot at ending the skid during the fifth contest of a six-game road trip that ends Tuesday against the Golden State Warriors. Charlotte is 2-2 on the excursion after outlasting Los Angeles Lakers 134-130 on Friday. The Hornets have won two of their last three games after losing their previous eight contests. Gordon Hayward scored the tiebreaking points with 6.3 seconds left and P.J. Washington added two free throws to seal it. |

12-25-22 | Suns +3.5 v. Nuggets | 125-128 | Win | 100 | 11 h 35 m | Show
Last year the Denver Nuggets had the reigning MVP but were left off the NBA's Christmas Day schedule, which some viewed as a snub. Nikola Jokic winning the MVP for a second straight year was too much for the NBA to ignore, so Denver is anchoring the daylong slate of Sunday games. The Nuggets will host the Phoenix Suns in the late matchup, but they won't have their full complement of players. Forward Jeff Green suffered a sprained left finger and a hand fracture in Friday's game and will miss at least four weeks, so he will not be on the primetime Christmas showdown. "I love a TV game. Don't ever turn it down but I don't worry too much about it," Jamal Murray said. "Either I'm playing on Christmas or I'm spending a day with the family." Denver enters Sunday on a three-game winning streak and tied with Memphis for first place in the Western Conference. The Nuggets beat the Grizzlies on Tuesday without Murray, who was resting his sore left knee, and Michael Porter Jr. Porter missed 13 games with a left heel strain but returned Friday night against Portland. He scored 18 points in 27 minutes. |

12-23-22 | George Washington +3.5 v. Pepperdine | Top | 70-81 | Loss | -115 | 11 h 19 m | Show |
The George Washington Colonials were just three seconds away from an opening-round upset win over the Washington State Cougars on Thursday night. Unfortunately, a three-point field goal from the Cougars turned a 64-63 lead into a 66-64 loss. The game was back and forth throughout with Washington State holding a two-point lead at halftime before the two teams battled back and forth in the second half. George Washington had five players in double figures for the game, led by Brendan Adams 17 points. The Colonials shot 49% from the field |

12-23-22 | SMU +13 v. Utah State | 77-74 | Win | 100 | 9 h 40 m | Show
The Mustangs snapped their four-game losing streak with a surprise win over the Gaels as big underdogs. They will try to keep the momentum going with a win over the Aggies, which will give them their second win in a row and a spot in the championship game. SMU is averaging 66.8 points per game. They scored 85 points in their last game, making 60 percent of their field goals and 46.2 percent of their three-pointers. |
|||||||
12-22-22 | Kent State v. UTEP +7.5 | 47-46 | Win | 100 | 10 h 52 m | Show
UTEP has covered five of their last six home games. This number seems to be begging the public to take the Golden Flashes. |
|||||||
12-22-22 | New Mexico State v. North Carolina A&T +11.5 | 85-76 | Win | 100 | 7 h 11 m | Show
New Mexico State’s bench did not come through in their opening, scoring a combined four points in the loss. They won the rebounding battle 37-34 despite being ranked 284th in the country in rebounds per game. They will look to regain their shooting form, 40% from 3pt range, against a North Carolina A&T that has a marginal 3pt defense but good enough to cover this number. |
|||||||
12-22-22 | Charlotte v. UAB -10.5 | 68-76 | Loss | -110 | 7 h 5 m | Show
The Blazers are certainly living up to their name on the offensive end this season, ranked third in the KenPom tempo ratings and 27th in offensive efficiency. They are scoring 87.9 points per game, the fifth-highest-scoring team in the county. They are knocking down 31.2 field goals per game (11th best) and shooting 48.2% (50th) from the field and 35.5% from beyond the arc. They are also pulling down 42.6 rebounds per game, the sixth most in the country. |
|||||||
12-22-22 | Marist v. Rider -6.5 | 71-77 | Loss | -115 | 7 h 31 m | Show
Offensive production has been hard to come by for Marist this season, as they are currently ranked 277th in college basketball at 68.8 points per game. A major reason for low scoring totals is the fact that that have played at a below average pace, and have struggled to knock down outside shots. As a team, the Red Foxes’ 3-point shooting percentage sits at just 34.4%, placing them 219th in the NCAA. |
