05-20-16 | Penguins -140 v. Lightning | Top | 3-4 | Loss | -140 | 33 h 45 m | Show |
This is a 10* GAME OF THE MONTH on the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Lightning steam-rolled their way over the New York Islanders in five games in the last round, as they got some superb goaltending from Ben Bishop, as well as some production from all of its lines to cap off the commanding series victory. Tampa Bay took Game 1 of this series despite being outshot, but has since dropped back-to-back contests to the surging Penguins and all signs point to another letdown tonight. The Lightning are expected to once again be without the services of goaltender Bishop due to injury as well as regular season leading scorer Steven Stamkos (if they do somehow miraculously suit up to play, clearly neither will be at 100% capacity). The Pens depth will be just too much for the wounded Bolts to handle today and with Matt Murray posting a 2.00 GAA in the playoffs, all signs point to the visitors finding a way to get the job done at the end of the night. Note that Pittsburgh is already 4-2 (+1.4) units in the playoffs when leading in a series, while Tampa Bay is just 6-8 (-2.7 units) this season when revenging a home loss vs. an opponent. Play on PITTSBURGH. AAA Sports |

05-17-16 | Sharks +115 v. Blues | Top | 4-0 | Win | 115 | 34 h 44 m | Show |
This is a 10* BLOCKBUSTER on the San Jose Sharks. We played the Blues in Game 1, but we think the Sharks bounce back in Game 2. St. Louis continues to get fantastic goaltending from Brian Elliot, he’d step up big once again in his team’s 2-1 victory in Game 1, but we think he’ll have his hands full with this hungry San Jose team tonight. The Sharks know that history is against them and they’ll be eager to reverse their fortunes as they are 0-5 in series following a seven-game series victory. But after the seven game series win over the Predators, a letdown in Game 1 was not a shocker whatsoever. We think San Jose returns to form tonight. The Sharks actually finished as the best road team in league during the regular season, but that hasn’t been the case in the playoffs so far, as they lost all three in Nashville. San Jose was 0-3 on the power play in Game 1, but note that it had converted on a whopping 30.9 percent of its man advantage chances previous to that and had scored a total of 16 goals in the last four games vs. the Predators. Note that San Jose is 31-15 (+15 units) this year in revenging a loss vs. an opponent, while St. Louis is already just 1-5 (-5.2 units) when leading in a playoff series. Play on the SHARKS. 05-15-16 | Sharks v. Blues -130 | Top | 1-2 | Win | 100 | 57 h 12 m | Show |
This is a 10* BLOCKBUSTER on the St. Louis Blues. Neither team has ever won a Stanley Cup. San Jose was the best road team in the league in the regular season, but so far that’s not been the case in the playoffs as it would lose all three outings away from friendly confines in its extended seven game series vs. the Predators. These teams are very evenly matched, getting balanaced scoring up and down their lines, receiving world class goaltending, while also both possessing some of the best special team’s units in the league. In our opinion, this is a great situational play as St. Louis has had a couple extra days off to prepare and heal up for this one. Note that the Sharks are just 4-5 (-3.4 units) this year after shutting out their opponent, while the Blues are 20-11 (+5 units) after scoring four goals or more in their previous game. We’re banking on ST. LOUIS to find a way to get the job done at the end of the night. AAA Sports |

05-10-16 | Capitals v. Penguins -130 | Top | 3-4 | Win | 100 | 58 h 12 m | Show |
This is a 10* RED DRAGON on the Pittsburgh Penguins. With a chance to finally put away the Capitals, we’re expecting the home side to risk life and limb getting into shooting and passing lanes and to find a way to get the job done at the end of the night. So far it’s been an exciting series as these two teams are very evenly matched. They are both getting superb goaltending and each has been sharp with special teams. Home ice is the difference today though, the Pens have already won two in Pittsburgh in this series and we think they’ll once again ride the wave of emotion. Also note that from a trend based stand point, they don’t get much stronger than this as Pittsburgh is 14-5 (+8.1 units) this season following a loss by two goals or more. In our professional opinion, this is indeed the very definition of “great line value,” play on the PENGUINS. AAA Sports |

05-09-16 | Sharks -105 v. Predators | Top | 3-4 | Loss | -105 | 35 h 22 m | Show |
This is a 10* SIDE OF THE WEEK on the San Jose Sharks. With a chance to put away the pesky Predators and advance to the conference finals for a third time since 2009, we look for the Sharks to continue their strong play and to find a way to get the job done at the end of the night. San Jose averages 2.9 goals per game, while Nashville averages 2.7. The Sharks score on 22.5 percent of their power plays, while the Predators at 19.7. San Jose allows 2.5 GPG, Nashville 2.6. So far home ice has been the difference in this series, but we think that changes tonight. San Jose is 31-11-2 on the road this year, this is a team that knows how to get the job done away from friendly confines. In our professional opinion, this is the very definition of “great line value.” Play on the SHARKS. AAA Sports |

04-30-16 | Islanders +142 v. Lightning | Top | 1-4 | Loss | -100 | 24 h 28 m | Show |
This is a 10* BLOCKBUSTER on the New York Islanders. We had a play on the Isles on the PUCK LINE in Game 1, but would not even need the extra 1.5 goals of insurance in the end as New York would skate away with an easy 5-3 victory. Suffice it to say, we’re expecting a similar type beatdown in Game 2. Ben Bishop failed to make it through a start vs. the Islanders for a second straight time in Wednesday’s opener, giving up four goals on 13 shots. Bishop is now 1-3-0 with a 5.00 GAA in four starts vs. New York this year. The Isles have the Lightning’s number, they’ve won five of the last six in the series and John Tavares has four of his club’s 25 goals in that stretch and four assists: “The team obviously that loses the game, I think always knows how important the next one is and not to lose two in a row," Tavares said. "We obviously expect their best, and we obviously want to raise our game, take it to another level and build off the first one." The value is simply too good to turn down here, play on the ISLANDERS. 04-24-16 | Capitals -150 v. Flyers | Top | 1-0 | Win | 100 | 23 h 30 m | Show |
This is a 10* RED DRAGON on the Washington Capitals. Washington went up 3-0 in this series and then for some reason took the foot off the gas and has allowed the Flyers to steal the next two. With a chance to finish this opening round series though, we think the “better” team finally shows up today and finds a way to get the job done at the end of the afternoon. Philadelphia made a goaltender change after Game 3, benching Steve Mason in favor of Michal Neuvirth, who has been up to the challenge so far, stopping 44 shots in Friday’s 2-0 win. It was a great individual performance, but we don’t expect lightning to strike a third time tonight; note that the Flyers in fact managed only 11 shots in Game 5, the fewest in club history in the regular season and playoffs. After allowing the Rangers to come back from a 3-1 deficit in last year’s playoffs, it’s going to be all hands on deck for the Capitals tonight. Also note, Washington has been getting steady goaltending throughout this series, Braden Holtby has stopped 123 of 128 shots (and further note that Holtby owns a 1.97 GAA in 20 career playoff games on the road). Enough is enough, look for WASHINGTON to finally lay the hammer down in Game 6. AAA Sports |

04-14-16 | Islanders v. Panthers -137 | Top | 5-4 | Loss | -137 | 22 h 55 m | Show |
This is a 10* FIRST ROUND GAME OF THE YEAR on the Florida Panthers. Both teams come in hot, but we feel that home ice advantage will be pivotal in this series and look for the Panthers to find a way to get the job done at the end of the night. John Tavares led New York with 33 goals, with seven others scoring at least ten on the year for New York. The Isles will be without the services of Jaroslav Halak for at least the entire first round, so getting the call between the pipes will Thomas Greiss, who was 9-8 with a 2.51 GAA on the road, but who is just 1-2 with a 3.29 GAA vs. Florida. Note the Greiss has never made a playoff start. After a three year hiatus, the Panthers are back in the postseason thanks in large part to a strong 25-16 showing in front of the home town crowd. Aleksander Barkov led the way in scoring with 28 goals on the year, while Reilly Smith and Vincent Trocheck had 25. Veteran Jaromir Jagr had 27 goals. The Panthers turn to Roberto Luongo in net, he was 21-11 with a 2.48 GAA in front of the home town crowd this season (note that Luongo owns a 2.62 GAA lifetime vs. the Isles). We’re giving Luongo the big nod in net and that’s going to be more than enough to tip the scales in favor of the home side today, play on FLORIDA. AAA Sports |

03-21-16 | Flyers v. Islanders -138 | Top | 4-1 | Loss | -138 | 27 h 41 m | Show |
This is a 10* GAME OF THE WEEK on the New York Islanders. This is a great spot bet, the Isles have lost three straight and five of their last six, including a 3-0 shutout setback to the Stars last time out. The Isles now sit in fourth in their division, despite still being one of the highest scoring teams in the league. To say motivation levels will be high for the Islanders tonight would be a bit of an understatement. New York will also be out to avenge a 4-0 setback to the Flyers at the beginning of January. A date at home is just what the doctor ordered as well as New York has only played two games on Long Island since February 19th, winning both to extend a seven-game point streak there. The Isles still control their playoff destiny, they hold the East’s first wild card spot with 85 points with 12 games remaining, while the Flyers are out of postseason contention right now in ninth spot with 80. Philadelphia had been on quite a role, averaging 3.6 goals over a 10-2-2 stretch, before coming out flat in Saturday’s 4-1 home loss to the Penguins, posting a season-lpw 17 shots. Momentum is extremely difficult to gain and once lost, is even harder to get back. We think this does indeed set up as a classic letdown spot for the visitors. We’ll call the goaltenders a “wash” in this one, but the mountain of situational factors working in favor of the Islanders definitely tips the scales towards the home side. In our professional opinion, this is the very definition of “great line value.” Play on the ISLANDERS. AAA Sports |

03-18-16 | Blackhawks -155 v. Jets | Top | 4-0 | Win | 100 | 29 h 49 m | Show |
This is a 10* WEST-COAST EXPRESS on the Chicago Blackhawks. We don't subscribe to any single handicapping methodology, but instead feel that being flexible with ones approach is the best way to secure profits over the longterm. Sometimes we keep it simple, while other times we'll take into account a bunch of different factors, like motivation, scheduling and significant injuries. Recognizing classic "spot bets" is something we always do as well, IE: the "look ahead" spot, the "let down" spot and the "trap" game. The actual contestants on the field of play rarely enter into our equation when making selections, unless it's a Top 3 player like a LeBron James or Aaron Rodgers etc. One set of criteria which we almost always use when making our decisions are Against The Spread (ATS) statistics. Sometimes these stats can be overrated and other times they help foreshadow the outcome of a contest. This particular play is based on a few different factors: Desperation breeds motivation: The Blackhawks made a bunch of different moves at the trade deadline in hopes to bolster their line-up and make another serious run at the Stanley Cup, but so far they have not paid off as the team comes into this one having lost four straight. Chicago will also be without starting goaltender Corey Crawford tonight. None of this matters in our opinion, the Jets are already looking forward to the offseason and we fully expect the Hawks to risk life and limb today as they try to break the losing streak and get back on track as the playoffs approach.: “We're headed into a stretch here where we've got 11 games left and we've lost four in a row," said Patrick Kane last night. "Obviously, not the stretch we want. I don't want to say it's panic time, but at the same time we have to shore things up before playoffs come into play here." ATS statistics: Note that Chicago is 23-6 (+16.6 units) this season after a non-conference game and 22-10 (+6.8 units) vs. teams with losing records, while Winnipeg is just 10-16 (-4.1 units) vs. division opponents this year and 13-20 (-5.6 units) in trying to revenge a loss vs. an opponent. The bottom line: All things considered, we feel this is an awesome price. Play on the BLACKHAWKS. AAA Sports |

03-14-16 | Panthers v. Islanders -130 | Top | 2-3 | Win | 100 | 30 h 2 m | Show |
This is a 10* SIDE OF THE WEEK on the New York Islanders. This particular play is based on what we feel to be a couple of key common sense factors: Motivation levels: After four straight victories, the Isles have lost two in a row. They also lost to Florida 5-1 on December 15th. With a three-game road trip starting in Pittsburgh tomorrow night, it’s going to be all hands on deck for the Islanders this evening and we’re fully expecting this focus and determination to translate into production on the ice. Florida on the other hand is coming off back-to-back victories at home, including an extremely satisfying come-from-behind 5-4 shootout win over the Flyers on Saturday. With a game tomorrow night in Montreal, not only does this set up as classic “letdown” spot for the visitors, but it’s also a “look-ahead” scenario as well. Advantage New York. ATS statistics: Note that Florida is just 2-6 (-3.4 units) in its last eight following back-to-back home victories in which its scored five goals or more, while the Isles are 6-3 (+2.7 units) in trying to revenge a loss in which they fell by four or more goals. The bottom line: No need to overanalyze this one, strong motivational, situational and trend based factors, along with what we deem to be an extremely reasonable line, all combine to make the ISLANDERS the savvy move in this contest. 03-09-16 | Capitals v. Kings -121 | Top | 3-4 | Win | 100 | 33 h 10 m | Show |
This is a 10* NON-CONFERENCE GAME OF THE YEAR on the LA Kings. This particular play is based on a few different factors: Revenge spot: The Kings will be out to avenge a 3-1 loss in the nation’s capital on February 16th. Formers Kings’ players Justin Williams and Mike Richards were both in the Capitals’ lineup for that victory and they’ll now be back in LA for the first time since signing with Washington. We’re fully expecting the home side to risk life and limb today in trying to even the score. Home sweet home: The Kings have won five straight in this series in front of the home town crowd. LA also comes in with plenty of momentum after winning for the sixth time in eight games with a 5-1 victory over the Canucks on Monday (note that in all six victories in the eight-game run the Kings have given up two or fewer goals). Classic letdown spot: Washington has been among the league’s best all year, but a small letdown after beating the Bruins 2-1 in OT on Saturday and the Ducks in a 2-1 shootout on Monday, would not be shocking in this position. The bottom line: Three great situational factors collide and when coupled with what we feel to be an extremely favorable line, all signs do indeed point to the KINGS as the sharp move in this contest. 02-21-16 | Avalanche v. Canucks -110 | Top | 1-5 | Win | 100 | 31 h 9 m | Show |
This is a 10* NHL GAME OF THE WEEK on the Vancouver Canucks. We don't subscribe to any one single handicapping methodology, but instead feel that being flexible with ones approach is the best way to secure profits over the longterm. This particular play is based on a few different factors: Desperation breeds motivation: The Canucks haven’t been eliminated from postseason contention yet despite having won only twice in their last ten games overall, including six straight in front of the home town crowd. Suffice it to say, it’s going to be all hands on deck for the home side today as it looks to break the string of futility, it’s first game of a five game home stand: "It's going to be huge for us to turn this around," said Canucks rookie Jake Virtanen last night. "We're obviously going to have to step up as a team and the younger guys are going to have to step up and the older guys are going to have to keep on playing hard." Classic letdown spot: No need to overanalyze this angle, the Avs are coming off a hard-fought 3-2 win in Edmonton just last night. Goaltenders a “wash”: Neither team has an advantage in net, the Canucks goaltending has been atrocious during the slide, but note that despite a 1-5-2 record since January 19th, Vancouver starter Ryan Miler has posted a highly respectable 2.49 GAA in the process. Avs’ goalie Semyon Varlamov has a 3.74 GAA over his last three vs. Vancouver. The bottom line: The value is to good to turn down in this one when considering the strong factors listed above, play on the CANUCKS. AAA Sports |

02-19-16 | Canucks v. Flames -140 | Top | 2-5 | Win | 100 | 32 h 50 m | Show |
This is a 10* SITUATIONAL DESTRUCTION on the Calgary Flames. We don't subscribe to any one single handicapping methodology, but instead feel that being flexible with ones approach is the best way to secure profits over the longterm. This particular play is based on what we feel to be a couple of key factors: Both teams struggling mightily, BUT: Both teams are struggling to get victories. The Flames also learned that starting goaltender Karri Ramo is lost for the season due to injury. Vancouver’s goaltending issues aren’t much better with both starter and backup struggling. So with each team continuing to flounder, where’s the advantage here? The difference in our minds is clearly on the offensive end of the ice, where the Flames have averaged at least 3.5 goals over their last six games, compared to the Canucks 1.8 over their last eight. ATS statistics: Note that Vancouver is just 5-6 (-3 units) this season after playing three consecutive home games, while Calgary is 4-2 (+2.4 units) after playing to three or more consecutive losses. The bottom line: Vancouver played and lost just last night, so we definitely believe fatigue will be a factor in this one. All signs do indeed point to the FLAMES as the savvy move in this contest. We don't subscribe to any one single handicapping methodology, but instead feel that being flexible with ones approach is the best way to secure profits over the longterm. Sometimes we keep it simple, while other times we'll take into account a bunch of different factors, like motivation, scheduling and significant injuries. Sometimes these stats can be overrated and other times they help foreshadow the outcome of a contest. This particular play is based on a few different factors: Revenge: LA has lost three of the last four in the series, including a 3-2 setback on January 23rd. A nice first half surprise, BUT …: Arizona is 24-20 and was definitely a nice surprise in the first half, but note that the team did back its way into the break, going 2-4-1 in its last seven. A poor offense is to blame, the Coyotes have gone just 1 for 23 on the power play, while totalling just eight goals over their last six games. Road warriors: The Kings had their fair share of ups and downs in the first half as well, but the team has done very well on the road, going 6-2 their last eight away from friendly confines. ATS statistics: Note that LA is 19-7 (+6.4 units) this season in trying to revenge a loss vs. an opponent, while Arizona is just 14-43 (-19.5 units) the last three years vs. teams with winning records. The bottom line: Revenge is a powerful motivating factor and we expect it to be the difference maker in this one, play on the KINGS. AAA Sports |

This is a 10* BLOCKBUSTER on the Ottawa Senators. I took the Winnipeg Jets in their Game 3 match-up with Anaheim and they were unable to get the job done, ultimately suffering a heart-breaking loss in the overtime period. Ottawa finds itself in an even deeper hole, it’s win or go home for the Senators and I believe the desperation level in which they play with today will ultimatley prove to be the difference in the end. This series has been a lot closer than what the score indicates, a couple of bounces here or there and the Sens could easily be sitting with the series lead. These teams are very evenly matched in every single department, the shots have simply not been going Ottawa’s way. I think that finally changes this evening, note that Ottawa is 17-4 (+17.1 units) this year in revenging a home loss vs. an opponent. In my opionion, this is the very definition of “great line value,” play on the SENATORS. AAA Sports |

02-16-15 | Minnesota Wild v. Vancouver Canucks -128 | Top | 2-3 | Win | 100 | 29 h 60 m | Show |
This is a 10* SITUATIONAL REVENGE DESTRUCTION on the Vancouver Canucks. Vancouver plays with double revenge today after losing both earlier games vs. the Wild this season and suffice it to say, I think the home side finds a way to get the job done at the end of the night. Look for Minnesota to finally have a letdown here, it’s been nearly unbeatable since acquiring goaltender Devan Dubnyk, who is 10-1-1 with a 1.60 GAA since a January 14th trade with the Coyotes. Dubnyk and the usually stout defense has shown some cracks in the armor of late though, most recently coming off a somewhat lackulstre 6-3 win over lowly Carolina on Saturday. Vancouver is waffling through a 5-6-0 stretch and is most recently coming off a 3-2 loss at Calgary on Saturday, but take note that the Canucks are 6-4 (+1.5 units) in their last ten in revenging a home loss vs. an opponent, while Minneosta is just 2-4 (-3.1 units) in its last six after scoring six goals or more. “Revenge” is a powerful motivating factor, in my opinion this is the very definition of “great line value,” play on VANCOUVER. 02-03-15 | Los Angeles Kings v. Washington Capitals -132 | Top | 0-4 | Win | 100 | 24 h 24 m | Show |
This is a 10* NON-CONFERENCE GAME OF THE YEAR on the Washington Capitals. For a number of different reasons I think the home side will find a way to get the job done at the end of the night. Both teams come in struggling and I simply can’t understate how important I believe home ice advantage will be in this one. Washington is coming off a 4-3 home loss to St. Louis: "We just make mistakes that cost us the game," star forward Alexander Ovechkin assessed last night. "We didn't execute the power play, we had a bad change when (Blues winger Alexander) Steen scored their second one. You can't do like that. I'm not going to put a finger on someone. We're going to learn from that, and we're going to move forward." LA is making its second stop on a five-game road trip vs. the Eastern Conference and is coming off a listless 3-1 loss to Boston on Saturday; note that Kings are just 1-5-2 their last eight on the road while averaging just 2.00 goals per game (and note that LA is just 4-6 (-2 units) this year when playing with two days of rest). To say this is a revenge game would be a bit of an understatement as well I think as LA is 7-0-1 in their last nine in Washington, including two shootout victories last year. LA goaltender Jonathan Quick is just 3-8-5 with a 2.84 GAA on the road this year and his counterpart Braden Holtby rested vs. St. Louis and is 8-0-2 with a 1.68 GAA in his last ten home starts. In my opinion, this is the very definition of “great line value,” play on the CAPITALS. AAA Sports |

12-19-14 | Dallas Stars v. Calgary Flames -111 | Top | 2-1 | Loss | -111 | 27 h 21 m | Show |
This is a 10* SITUATIONAL DESTRUCTION on the Calgary Flames. I am a firm believer that desperation breeds motivation and as such, fully expect the home side to come in focused on the task at hand as it looks to break a six game slide. The Flames have been outscored 21-10 in the last six games, but note that they haven’t had a longer losing streak in regulation since dropping eight in a row during the 1998 season; suffice it to say, I’m not expecting the string of futility to get carried over here. "It's so easy when you're winning to go out there and make things happen when things are bouncing your way," said Calgary center Matt Stajan, who had an assist in Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the Rangers. "The real test is when nothing's going your way and you're in a funk like we are. This is where we have to step up." I believe the favorable bounces return for the Flames today, despite being unable to find the back of the net of late, note that Calgary has in fact outshot five of its last six opponents, including a 31-23 edge over New York. And in my opinion, that clearly doesn’t bode well for the Stars who allow a league-worst 3.4 GPG. Note that this sets up as a natural letdown spot for Dallas as well after it’s 2-0 win over Vancouver on Wednesday (and note that the Stars had given up at least five goals seven times over their previous 12 contests). All of the situational and motivational reasons above makes me believe that this is the very definition of great line value; play on CALGARY. AAA Sports |

12-13-14 | NY Rangers v. Vancouver Canucks -133 | Top | 5-1 | Loss | -133 | 26 h 18 m | Show |
This is a 10* NON-CONF GAME OF THE YEAR on the Vancouver Canucks. For a number of different strong situational and trend basesd reasons, I like the home side to find a way to get the job done at the end of the night and in my opinion, this is the very definition of “great line value.” Vancouver lost three straight to end a seven-game road trip, but is back home and rested and I think comes in focused on the task at hand. And to say this is a “revenge” game for the Canucks would be a bit of an understatement I think as Vancouver has lost five straight in the series: “We're definitely excited," goaltender Ryan Miller assessed last night. "A lot of guys are ready to get home. After 14 days, it's just time. We'll regroup." New York has been off even longer than Vancouver, most recently avoiding a third straight loss with a 4-3 OT win over Pittsburgh on Monday. Note, this sets up as a “look ahead” spot for the Rangers though who are in Edmonton tomorrow night and then also a tough game in Calgary before closing with a contest in Carolina on Dcember 20th; the road has not been kind to New York of late which is 1-4-1 in it last six away from friendly confines and just 3-5-1 on the road overall this year. And note that Rangers’ goaltender Henrik Lundqvist has been particularly poor of late in posting a ballooned 3.48 GAA in his last four games. Note that New York is a poor 1-7 (-8.4 units) this year after scoring 4 goals or more in its previous contest, while Vancouver is 6-2 (+4.4 units) after a loss by 2 goals or more in its previous contest. In my opinion, the situation, the numbers and the trends do all indeed point to the CANUCKS as the savvy move here. AAA Sports |

10-26-14 | Washington Capitals v. Vancouver Canucks -130 | Top | 2-4 | Win | 100 | 22 h 27 m | Show |
This is a 10* NON-CONFERENCE GAME OF THE MONTH on the Vancouver Canucks. I think this is great line value and look for the home side to find a way to get the job done at the end of the night. Washington is coming off a satisfying 3-1 win in Calgary just last night while the hungry home side is looking to avoid a fourth loss in its last five outings. If history is any precedence, then the Canucks have to be loving their chances tonight, they’re 12-2-2 in the series since 1998, including 7-0-1 in Vancouver. While the Canucks have struggled a bit of late defensively, note that goaltender Ryan Miller looked dominant in making 31 saves in Thursday’s 4-1 win at St. Louis; and note that Miller is 4-1-0 with a very respectable 2.71 GAA this year and is 15-12 with a 2.50 mark vs. Washington lifetime. The Capitals are expected to start backup Justin Peters who is 1-0-1 with a 1.49 GAA, but note that Washington is a poor 16-24 (-5.4 units) in its last 40 vs. teams with winning records. And note that Vancouver is a superb 10-6 (+4.6 units) in its last 16 after playing three consecutive road games. I often find that “desperation” is a factor that the oddsmakers have a hard time properly quantifying into a line and that’s definitely the case here, in my opinion this is the very definition of great line value; play on VANCOUVER. 10-13-14 | Montreal Canadiens v. Tampa Bay Lightning -131 | Top | 1-7 | Win | 100 | 23 h 55 m | Show |
This is a 10* EAST-COAST EXPRESS on the Tampa Bay Lightning. Montreal is 3-0 and will finish off its grueling four-game season opening road trip tonight; suffice it to say, I think the Habs have a letdown here vs. a determined and revenge-minded home side. Montreal swept the undermanned Lightning in four straight in the Playoffs last year. However, Tampa Bay has to be liking its chances today for a little redemption in sending a healthy Ben Bishop to man the net: “Looking forward to playing them again, it's probably going to be a good gauge for us," Tampa coach Jon Cooper said last night. "Clearly they're setting the bar probably in the Eastern Conference so far. They're kinda the team to beat right now so I guess we'll see where we're at when we play them." Montreal fans have to be feeling pretty lucky to this point, note that the Canadiens have trailed after the first period in all three games and after the second in their last two. In fact, the Habs would go on to win both of those games in shootouts, most recently rallying from a 3-0 deficit in the final 8 minutes of the third period in a 4-3 win at Philadelphia on Saturday. I think the visitors will have a much harder time with Bishop in net, who has given up four goals on 55 shots in two starts for the Lightning so far this year, most recently a 3-2 shootout setback to Ottawa on Saturday. Bishop though is 5-1-2 with a tiny 1.30 GAA in eight starts vs. the Habs, including going 3-0-1 with a minuscule 0.94 GAA in four last year. So far Montreal goaltender Carey Price has been adequate, he’s also enjoyed plenty of success vs. the Lightning in the past, but note that his team is 0 for 10 on the powerplay, while Tampa Bay has killed off all five of its opponents’ man advantages (also note that the Bolts are 4 for 10 on their own power play). It’s been a tough, successful and satisfying opening three games for Montreal, who won’t be able to get caught looking ahead to a two day break before then finally going back home to face the Bruins on Thursday; in my opinion, we’re getting fantastic line value on the LIGHTNING in this spot. 10-10-14 | NY Islanders -105 v. Carolina Hurricanes | Top | 5-3 | Win | 100 | 20 h 9 m | Show |
This is a 10* SCORPION on the New York Islanders. Carolina enters the season injured and I look for the visitors to take full advantage. John Tavares returns for the Islanders and he’s now at full strength after injuring his knee last February which forced him to miss the last 1/4 of the season: “I had a normal offseason, and the injury has been put behind me for a good three months now," Tavares explained last week. I'm really anxious to dive right back into it. The nerves and energy getting ready for the season were there. If I ever lose that feeling, I shouldn't be playing. This is what I love to do. I couldn't be more excited." The Isles were 17th in the league with a 2.63 goals per game average, led by Kyle Okposo’s 69 points and Frans Nielsen who had 25 goals. New York also added Mikhail Grabovski in the offseason, who would score 13 goals for the Capitals last year. All of these men will be chomping at the bit to go against Hurricanes goaltender Cam Ward who posted the fifth-worst GAA average (3.06) among goalies with 25 or more starts. The Hurricanes return almost the identical roster, which is bad news for them as they finished 22nd in the league for overall goals and had the NHL’s third-worst power play. Also note that the team took a major hit when Jordan Staal broke his right fibula in preseason and he’ll be out until at least January. Carolina will also be without the services of top goal scorer Jeff Skinner who suffered a concussion on Sunday. So a team which was already inept at scoring will now have to face a revamped Islanders defense which was boosted by the acquistion of Nick Leddy from Chicago and Johnny Boychuk from Boston. And note that the Isles start a new goaltender tonight in Jaroslav Halak whose 2.25 GAA was the NHL’s eighth-best last year. In my humble opinion, this is the very definition of great line value; play on NEW YORK. AAA Sports |

05-16-14 | Los Angeles Kings +111 v. Anaheim Ducks | Top | 6-2 | Win | 111 | 18 h 59 m | Show |
This is a 10* “BLOCKBUSTER” on the LA Kings. What a series. I took the Kings in Game 6. There’s no question this is an evenly matched series, but for this selection, I’m basing it entirely on the men between the pipes. I think we’re getting great value on Jonathan Quick and the LA Kings. LA is 5-0 in elimination games this year and has more experience in these types of situations and that simply can’t be overlooked in this selection either: “When you have our trust and experience with each other, it puts games like this in perspective," Kings captain Dustin Brown said. "We've been through a lot worse. We know what has to be done." "We just have the mentality that nothing is going to stop us," LA defenseman Drew Doughty echoed. "We're just a close-knit team that wants nothing more than to be another Stanley Cup champion." Note that Ducks’ coach Bruce Boudreau is 1-4 in Game 7’s with Washington and Anaheim, losing four in front of the home town crowd. But as stated above, who would you take in a game of this magnitude if you had one choice: LA’s wily veteran Quick or 20-year old John Gibson for the Ducks? Now imagine getting Quick as the underdog? That’s exactly the situation here. In what will likely be another nail-biter, I think this value is simply too good to turn down; play on the Kings. AAA Sports |

05-08-14 | Anaheim Ducks +125 v. Los Angeles Kings | Top | 3-2 | Push | 0 | 60 h 53 m | Show |
This is a 10* “BLOCKBUSTER” on the Anaheim Ducks. I took the Kings in Games 1 and 2, but look for the Ducks to put together their best effort of this series and to find a way to get the job done at the end of the night. This is a do or die game for Anaheim, a 3-0 hole to LA would be just too much for it to recover from: “The belief and the confidence in this group is pretty high," Ducks’ defenseman Cam Fowler said last night. "We know that a lot of people are counting us out right now, but that only fuels us." Anaheim knows how to beat LA, it just hasn’t in the playoffs yet; note that the Ducks would take four of five from the Kings in the regular season. Anaheim is making adjustments, we can expect to see Kyle Palmieri inserted back into the line-up to help get the Ducks offense untracked (note that Palmieri scored a career best 14 goals in the regular season and had five points in last years first round loss to the Wings/Palmieri has been held out as a healthy scratch the last four games). I think the pucks start bouncing in favor of Anaheim tonight: "We played pretty well in the first two games, and we remind ourselves of that," Ducks’ goaltender Jonas Hiller said yesterday. "I don't think many things need to change. We just need to keep our confidence." No need to overanalyze this selection in my opinion; Anaheim is coming off its best regular season in franchise history and I expect this talented group to respond to adversity. Great line value; play on the Ducks. AAA Sports |

04-30-14 | Los Angeles Kings +125 v. San Jose Sharks | Top | 5-1 | Win | 125 | 25 h 25 m | Show |
This is a 10* “BLOCKBUSTER” on the LA Kings. The momentum has swung in favor of LA and I look for the Kings to pull off the monumental come back in Game 7. San Jose is rattled, it won the first three games of this series but has looked like a deer caught in the headlights ever since, LA has reeled off three straight and has San Jose on the ropes. Not only has LA’s offense been spectacular over the last three games, but star goaltender Jonahthan Quick has completely dominated after stumbling early. LA is the ninth team in league history to force a Game 7 after losing the first three and another quick start will be paramount, San Jose did not have a lead at any point in its three-straight losses. After going up, LA has then been able to clamp down defensively, effectively eliminating any odd-man rushes which the Sharks used to their advantage over the first three games. If you’re betting on this game, you are more than just a casual fan of hockey; the strengths, the weaknesses and the recent history between these clubs is well known to all NHL eficianado’s, for me, this selection comes down to a couple of simple things; I think that LA is currently getting better goaltending at the moment and believe that the momentum that it’s created is a very real thing. I’m on the Kings. AAA Sports |

01-24-14 | Colorado Avalanche -110 v. Florida Panthers | Top | 3-2 | Win | 100 | 26 h 7 m | Show |
This is a 10* "SUPER REVENGE DESTRUCTION" on the Colorado Avalanche.
The Colorado Avalanche (31-13-5) come off a 2-5 loss at home to Toronto. Rookie Nathan MacKinnon scored two goals for the Avalanche in a losing effort and Jean-Sebastien Giguere had 19 saves in relief of Semyon Varlamov. The Florida Panthers (20-23-7) come off a 4-3 win at Buffalo. Ed Jovanoski had a goal and an assist. Veteran goalie Tim Thomas stopped 32 shots, including 15 in the final period to improve to 7-3-2 in his past 12. The Avalanche had won four straight before the big loss to the Leafs so I am expecting a bounce back effort here. The Panthers beat the Avalanche 4-1 in Colorado back in November so revenge is strong on the minds of the Colorado players. Colorado is 12-5 in non-conference games this season while Florida is just 7-12 in the same spot. When playing with a team with a winning record, the Panthers are just 7-14. Lay small juice to get Colorado here. AAA |

01-17-14 | Anaheim Ducks v. Chicago Blackhawks -126 | Top | 2-4 | Win | 100 | 26 h 37 m | Show |
This is a 10* "ART OF THE GAME" on the Chicago Blackhawks.
The Anaheim Ducks (36-8-5) come off a 9-1 beat down at home over Vancouver. Corey Perry had two goals and two assists while Nick Bonino and Teemu Selanne each added two goals in the rout. The Chicago Blackhawks (30-8-11) comes off a 2-3 OT loss at home to Colorado. The Hawks lost despite firing 48 shots on the Avalanche net. Johnny Oduya and Andrew Shaw scored goals for the Hawks. The Ducks have been playing some seriously good hockey of late but this is going to be a tall order to beat a motivated Blackhawks team on the road. The Hawks are 16-3-7 on home ice and I expect the team to show some pride here against the best team in the NHL (record wise) and earn a nice win at home. The Hawks are also revenge minded after losing to the Ducks 2-3 in December. Note that Chicago is 7-5 in these situations. The price is right here as you may never get the Hawks at this value at home again this season. Take Chicago to bump a slump. AAA |

This is a 10* play on the Chicago Blackhawks.
The Chicago Blackhawks (29-8-9) is coming off a 2-3 loss at home to the New York Rangers. A lackluster first period and another subpar offensive effort contributed to the extension of Chicago Blackhawks goaltender Corey Crawford's losing streak. It was Chicago's first regulation loss since it was blown out at Toronto, falling 7-3 on Dec. 14. The Montreal Canadiens (25-15-5) comes off a 1-3 loss at Philadelphia. This is a 10* "ART OF THE GAME" on the New Jersey Devils.
The Dallas Stars (20-15-7) come off a 3-7 loss at the New York Islanders. Dallas built its 2-0 lead on first-period goals by Jamie Benn and Erik Cole, but goaltender Kari Lehtonen couldn't make the margin stick. He allowed seven goals on 43 shots. The New Jersey Devils (17-18-9) comes of a 2-3 SO loss at home to Philadelphia. This is a 10* "INTERCONTINENTAL EXPRESS" on the Colorado Avalanche.
The Philadelphia Flyers (20-16-4) come off a 4-1 win over the Calgary Flames. Brayden Schenn had a goal and two assists while Wayne Simmonds added two assists in the win. Ray Emery made 23 saves in the win. The Colorado Avalanche (24-11-4) come off a 5-3 win at home over Columbus. Matt Duchene had two assists while Semyon Varlamov was very sharp in making 35 saves. Yes the Flyers are on a nice streak here but I expect a bit of letdown in Colorado against a very good team in the Avalanche. The Avs are 13-5-2 on home ice this season. Colorado is 8-3 versus non conference teams this season. Philly is in the midst of a massive western road trip and you have to think there will be a bit of let down here at some points. Philly is just 5-6 versus teams with winning records. The Avs had a bit of rough patch to end the 2013 calendar year but I expect this team sees the new year as a new beginning to start a streak. Lay the extra juice to get the home team here. AAA |

11-09-13 | Chicago Blackhawks -130 v. Dallas Stars | Top | 5-2 | Win | 100 | 30 h 50 m | Show |
This is a 10* "WESTERN CONFERENCE GAME OF THE YEAR" on the Chicago Blackhawks.
The Chicago Blackhawks (10-2-4) come off a 4-1 win over the Winnipeg Jets on Wednesday. Jonathan Toews, Patrick Sharp and Patrick all scored goals for the Hawks who also got two assists from Duncan Keith. Corey Crawford made 24 saves in the win and looked pretty good all night. The Dallas Stars (8-6-2) come off a 4-3 OT win over the Detroit Red Wings. Jamie Benn scored a beauty while Shawn Horcoff and Cody Eatkin added the other goals. Kari Lehtonen made 26 saves and gave his team a chance to win yet again. The Chicago Blackhawks are steamrolling opponents with a high-powered offense led by a red-hot top line. They've won three straight in Dallas and five of six in the series overall, including the three matchups in the 2013 season by a 16-5 margin. It was Chicago's first sweep of the series since 2008-2009. The Stars are feeling pretty good about themselves after a successful road trip but should be shocked back into reality by the defending champs. Take Chicago win as a GOY play. AAA |

11-07-13 | Montreal Canadiens v. Ottawa Senators -115 | Top | 1-4 | Win | 100 | 27 h 35 m | Show |
This is a 10* "CONFERENCE GAME OF THE MONTH" on the Ottawa Senators.
The Habs are 8-7-1, including 4-3 away from friendly confines. Most recently they're coming off a 3-2 shootout loss to the Blues on Tuesday. Carey Price made 30 saves (note that Montreal is just 10-19/-10.5 units vs. division opponents over the last two seasons). The Sens are 5-6-4, including just 1-3-2 at home. To say they've gotten out to a "lacklustre" start would be an understatement I think. Ottawa has shown flashes of brilliance at times this season, but has looked extremely "middle of the pack" in others. The Senators though will be looking to build off a great 4-1 victory in Columbus on Tuesday. Keep your eyes on Erik Karlsson who had two goals. Robin Lehner made 32 saves (note that Ottawa is interestingly 17-13/+4 units in its last 30 after a victory by 2 goals or more). This is an important game for both teams obviously, but in my opinion, more so for the home side. This marks the first game of a five game home stand and with just one victory in Ottawa so far this year, setting a tone early during this stretch becomes paramount for the Sens. Price has had success vs. Ottawa throughout his career but note that he was just 1-2-0 with a poor 3.26 GAA in four games vs. it in the playoffs last season. A great situational play coupled with what I believe to be fantastic line value. Play on the Senators. AAA |

10-26-13 | St. Louis Blues v. Nashville Predators +111 | Top | 6-1 | Loss | -100 | 28 h 10 m | Show |
This is a 10* play on the Nashville Predators.
The visiting St. Louis Blues come off a 3-2 OT loss to the Vancouver Canucks last night. The Blues got goals from Vladamir Sobotka and Alexander Steen. Jaroslav Halak made 18 saves in the loss. The Nashville Predators had last night off and is coming off a 3-2 OT win over Winnipeg at home. Shea Weber, Craig Smith and Patric Hornqvist had the goals for the Preds. Carter Hutton made 34 saves in the win. The Blues are playing the backend of a back-to-back here where the Preds will be waiting at home for the Blues. The Blues have now lost three of its last four coming into this game while the Preds have won five of seven. Take the well rested Nashville team at home to get a victory here as the team. AAA |

10-25-13 | Anaheim Ducks v. Ottawa Senators -110 | Top | 2-1 | Loss | -110 | 26 h 7 m | Show |
This is a 10* "NON-CONFERENCE GAME OF THE YEAR" on the Ottawa Senators.
The Anaheim Ducks come off a 4-1 loss at the Montreal Canadiens last night. Patrick Moroon scored the lone for the Ducks. Jonas Hiller made 21 saves in the loss. The Ducks have now lost two in a row on this Eastern conference road trip. The Ottawa Senators come off an impressive 6-1 road win at Detroit on Tuesday. Bobby Ryan scored twice while Erik Karlsson had two assists in the win as the Sens started off a tough stretch of games on a good note. Bobby Ryan is making his first start with Ottawa against his old team in Anaheim who traded him in the offseason. Expect the Sens players to know this and play a motivational game to support their new star teammate. The Ducks will be a little tired playing their second game on a back to back situation on a tough eastern road trip. Take the Senators in one of my top rated games of the season/year. AAA |

10-21-13 | San Jose Sharks v. Detroit Red Wings +100 | Top | 1-0 | Loss | -100 | 29 h 9 m | Show |
This is a 10* play on the Detroit Red Wings.
The visiting San Jose Sharks come off a 6-3 win over the Calgary Flames. The Sharks got goals from Brent Burns, Patrick Marleau and Logan Couture. Anti Niemi made 16 saves in the game where the Sharks outshot the Flames 35 to 18 in the blowout win. The Sharks come into this game with a 7-0-1 record with only loss coming via shootout to the Dallas Stars. The Detroit Red Wings come off a 5-2 loss to the Phoenix Coyotes. The Wings got goals from Pavel Datsyuk and Todd Bertuzzi while Jimmy Howard made 28 saves in the loss. The Sharks look like the class of the west so far this season but this should be a real test for the team to go out east and play an old rival in the Wings. Detroit is fuming from the embarrassing loss and will looking to come back with a statement game here. The Wings had won four straight before the loss to the Coyotes. These teams know each other pretty well but the Wings have the home ice advantage here. Take the Red Wings at good value on the Money Line. AAA |

This is a 10* "SUPER-BLOWOUT" on the Nashville Predators.
The visiting New York Islanders sit at 2-1-1 after a 3-2 loss on the road in Chicago last night. The Islanders got goals from Josh Bailey and Kyle Okposo. Back-up goalie Kevin Poulin made 25 saves in the loss. It was the first regulation time loss for the upstart Islanders on the season. The Nashville Predators sit at 1-3 after getting shut out by Toronto 0-4 at home on Thursday night. The Predators have won six of the past seven home meetings with the Islanders, including five in a row while outscoring them 14-4. They've also shut them out three times during that winning streak, which is part of a 7-0-1 record in the last eight overall matchups. The Islander should feel it in the legs a little bit here on the back-end-of a back situation. The Preds should be pretty fuming made after getting shut out at home. Take the Predators to win straight up. AAA |

The LA Kings stopped its early mini losing streak early this season with a 4-3 SO win over Ottawa on Wednesday. Jeff Carter scored the game winning goal and added another plus an assist in the win. 10-10-13 | Toronto Maple Leafs v. Nashville Predators -114 | Top | 4-0 | Loss | -114 | 30 h 8 m | Show |
This is a 10* "NON-CONFERENCE GAME OF THE YEAR" on the Nashville Predators.
The Toronto Maple Leafs lost its first game of the season to the Colorado Avalanche at home 2-1 in its last outing to fall to 3-1 on the year. Joffrey Lupul scored the lone goals for the Leafs and the Leafs got 31 saves from goalie Jonathan Bernier in the loss. The Nashville Predators finally got the monkey off its back winning a 3-2 decision over the Wild on Tuesday. The Preds got 32 saves from Pekka Rhine and goals from Colin Wilson, Eric Nystrom and Flip Forsberg. It was not a huge surprise that the Predators lost two games in a row to start the season on the road in San Jose and Colorado, both tough places to play. The Leafs may not have Joffrey Lupul in this game and will play its first game versus a non conference opponent on the road here this season. Lay the juice with Nashville who have a great matchup to go to 2-0 at home here. AAA |

10-09-13 | Ottawa Senators +129 v. Los Angeles Kings | Top | 3-4 | Loss | -100 | 31 h 41 m | Show |
This is a 10* play on the Ottawa Senators.
The Ottawa Senators are 1-0-1 after a shootout loss to rival Ottawa on Saturday. Kyle Turris, Cory Conacher, Jared Cowen and Spezza scored for the Senators. Craig Anderson made 38 saves on 42 shots as the Senators had just one PP all game compared to the Leafs 6. The LA Kings are coming off a 3-1 loss to road tripping New York Rangers and sit at 1-2 early. Jake Muzzin scored the lone goal for the Kings and Jonathan Quick made 23 saves in the loss. The Ottawa Senators are a solid team and in no way should be this much of an underdog, even on the road versus LA. The Kings are a team that have had a recent history of starting slow under Darryl Sutter. I think we are seeing that here this season. We can throw out any sort of history as these have not met in years. . Take the Senators to win with plus money. AAA |

10-09-13 | Chicago Blackhawks v. St. Louis Blues -120 | Top | 2-3 | Win | 100 | 28 h 12 m | Show |
This is a 10* play on the St. Louis Blues.
The Chicago Blackhawks sit at 1-1 after a 3-2 SO loss to Tampa Bay on Saturday. Brandon Saad and Patrick Kane scored goals for the defending champs while Corey Crawford made 14 saves on 16 shots as the Hawks outshot Tampa a ridiculous 39-16 in the loss. The St. Louis Blues are 2-0 after a 7-0 domination of Florida. Newcomer Brandon Morrow had a goal and an assist while Jayden Schwartz had three points as a ton of Blues players got into the action. Jaroslav Halak made 19 saves for the shutout as the Blues have allowed just two goals through the two games to start this season. This is a matchup of two of the best teams in the newly formed Western conference this year. The Blues have a large advantage of having home ice for the first five games of this season and no doubt have this first matchup with the defending cup champions circled on their maps. This will be the Hawks first game on the road and its going to be tough one for them. Lay a little extra juice to get the home team here in St. Louis. AAA |

This is a 10* play on the Calgary Flames.
The Montreal Canadiens sit at 1-1 on the season after a 4-1 over Philadelphia last Saturday night. Center Lars Eller had a goal and an assist on a line with Brendan Gallagher and Alex Galchenyuk that clicked twice in the win. Montreal got 22 saves from Carey Price. The Calgary Flames still have yet to lose in regulation time as its |

10-08-13 | Phoenix Coyotes v. NY Islanders -125 | Top | 1-6 | Win | 100 | 26 h 55 m | Show |
This is a 10* play on the New York Islanders.
The Phoenix Coyotes sit at 1-1 after a loss at San Jose 1-4 on Saturday. Oliver Ekman-Larsson had the lone goal for the Coyotes who got 47 saves from goalie Mike Smith. The Coyotes got outshot 51-23 in the loss. The road game was the first of brutal five game road trip that takes the team out east. The New York Islanders also sit at 1-1 after a 2-3 narrow SO defeat at the hands of Columbus on Saturday. Lubomir Visnosky and Matt Moulson tallied goals for the Islanders in the loss. Evgeni Nabokov made 27 saves on 29 shots in the loss. The Coyotes will be at great disadvantage here playing a game on the east coast with the time change. The Islanders are a very good team this year coming off a playoff experience last season. Look for the Islanders to pull out the win here. Lay the short juice on the Islanders. AAA |

10-07-13 | NY Rangers +134 v. Los Angeles Kings | Top | 3-1 | Win | 134 | 32 h 23 m | Show |
This is a 10* play on the New York Rangers.
The New York Rangers sit at 0-1 after a 4-1 opening season loss to the Phoenix Coyotes. Marc Staal scored the lone goal for the Rangers who were out-shot 32-24 overall in the game. Derek Stepan and Rick Nash added the helpers. Henrik Lundqvist made 28 saves on 34 shots for a pretty lifeless Rangers team playing its first game under new head coach Alain Vigneault. The LA Kings sit at 1-1 after a 5-3 loss to the Winnipeg Jets on the road. Jeff Carter Matt Greene and Justin Williams scored goals for LA while Jonathan Quick made 27 saves in the loss. The Rangers did not play well in their opener but have had three complete days off to think about it here and prepare for a tough road game in LA. Alain Vigneault is no stranger to coaching games against the Kings as his former team Vancouver has many a important tilts with LA. I expect the Rangers to come out flying and get a much needed win on the road. The Kings could very well get caught looking ahead to a division tilt with long time rival San Jose coming up next on their sched. Take the Rangers at plus money here. AAA |

10-06-13 | Vancouver Canucks v. Calgary Flames +134 | Top | 5-4 | Loss | -100 | 30 h 24 m | Show |
This is a 10* play on the Calgary Flames.
The Vancouver Canucks sit at 1-1 after a 6-2 blowout win in its home opener last night against Edmonton. Henrik Sedin had three assists while brother Daniel added a goal and a helper. The Canucks also got a shorthanded goal from new comer Brad Richardson. Roberto Luongo made 21-23 saves in the win. The Calgary Flames is 1-0-1 after a 4-3 road win over Columbus on Friday night. T.J. Galiardi had a goal and an assist while Joey McDonald made 29 saves to get the win. The Flames have now taken point in two straight games both on the road. This game will mark the home opener for Calgary who is not playing with a lot of expectations this season. This matchup looks to be a good one for the young Flames here early as Canucks will be playing the second half of a back-to-back night. Calgary is 3-2 versus the Canucks at home over the past three seasons. The Canucks will likely start Roberto Luongo again as the team has no back-up with any NHL experience. Either way I like the value we are getting with the home team here. Take Calgary. AAA |

10-05-13 | Columbus Blue Jackets v. NY Islanders -125 | Top | 3-2 | Loss | -125 | 29 h 49 m | Show |
This is a 10* play on the New York Islanders.
The Columbus Blue Jackets sit a disappointing 0-1 after home opening loss to a poor Calgary Flames team last night 4-3. Jack Johnson had a goal and an assist while Marian Gaborik also scored in the losing effort. Sergei Bobrovsky made 26 saves of a possible 30 as the Flames somehow got two points on the back end of a back to back on the road. The New York Islanders scored an overtime SO win on the road last night. Michael Grabner scored twice and added an assist in the win. Evgeni Nabakov made 26 saves in the win. I expect the Islanders to make it two wins in a row here as the team will be playing its home opener here. While the Islanders were on the road, it really wasn |

10-04-13 | Ottawa Senators -120 v. Buffalo Sabres | Top | 1-0 | Win | 100 | 28 h 6 m | Show |
This is a 10* play on the Ottawa Senators.
The Ottawa Senators start the season as the NHL early dark horse Stanley Cup favorite. Out is long time Captain Daniel Alfredsson and in is Bobby Ryan. The Senators excelled last season despite a comedy of injuries to star players. The star player are back now this season as Jason Spezza and Erik Karlsson are back and good go. Craig Anderson was a rock last season and is expected to keep it going here. The Buffalo Sabres lost its season opener to the Detroit Red Wings 2-1 on Wednesday on the road. Ryan Miller made 32 saves in the loss and little known Zigmus Girgensons got the lone goal for the Sabres were outshot and out classed for most of the night. I expect that happen quite a bit for a Sabres team that is ripe for a rebuild year. The Senators are the favorite here for a reason and could blowout the Sabres in this one. Lay small extra juice to get Ottawa and an early win for them and you. AAA |

10-03-13 | Vancouver Canucks +120 v. San Jose Sharks | Top | 1-4 | Loss | -100 | 26 h 11 m | Show |
This is a 10* "WEST-COAST EXPRESS" on the Vancouver Canucks.
There are a lot of the same faces on both sides of this matchup. The visiting Vancouver Canucks biggest change coming into this game is new head coach John Tortorella who brings his fiery attitude in after getting dismissed from the New York Rangers last season. The biggest change from a personnel standpoint has to the departure of Cory Schneider. Roberto Luongo is back and will be the starting goaltender for the Canucks. Vancouver |

10-01-13 | Winnipeg Jets +134 v. Edmonton Oilers | Top | 5-4 | Win | 134 | 30 h 53 m | Show |
This is a 10* play on the Winnipeg Jets.
The visiting Jets come into this season opener with a lot of optimism after the teams second year back in Winnipeg. The Jets may not have made the playoffs last season but they did bring in some new talent in Devon Setoguchi and Michael Frolik. The team has a nice nucleus of players in Andrew Ladd, Evander Kane, Blake Wheeler and Dustin Buyfuglien. The Oilers missed the playoffs yet again last season after all the optimism surrounding the young squad. Among the key offseason acquisitions for the Oilers were forward David Perron, who came over from the St. Louis Blues in a trade for Magnus Paajarvi, and defenceman Andrew Ference, signed as a free agent. We have been hearing forever now about how this Edmonton team is going to be the next hotness but its |

10-01-13 | Toronto Maple Leafs +120 v. Montreal Canadiens | Top | 4-3 | Win | 120 | 27 h 14 m | Show |
This is a 10* play on the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The Toronto Maple Leafs enter the 2013 season optimism despite the bad taste in its mouth after a first round loss to the Boston Bruins. The team has made a few positive changes over the offseason adding a member of the Chicago Blackhawks championship team in David Bolland, tough skilled guy in David Clarkson and budding star netminder Jonathan Bernier. The Leafs were young last year but really look to be headed in the right direction with talented forwards and a strong young backend anchored by Dion Phaneuf. The Montreal Canadiens have a bad taste to after a disappointing five game series loss to the Ottawa Senators in the first round last season. The Habs added a good little player in Daniel Briere who should fit right into the culture of French speaking majority. Douglas Murray was added to get some depth on the backend as well. These two storied franchises have spilt the last 10 meetings with each other. This will be in Montreal where it is the home opener for the team. While the atmosphere will be electric, its important to note that the Leafs are 7-3 in the last 10 games played at Montreal. The goaltender for the Habs Carey Price is just 1-4 with a pedestrian 3.86 GAA in his last five outings with Toronto. The Leafs are the better team here and we are getting them at plus money. Take Toronto. AAA |

06-19-13 | Chicago Blackhawks +119 v. Boston Bruins | Top | 6-5 | Win | 119 | 32 h 17 m | Show |
This is a 10* "SITUATIONAL DESTRUCTION" on the Chicago Blackhawks.
Despite being "injured", the return of Marian Hossa to the Blackhawks' lineup is a significant one tonight. Note that Chicago is 16-7 (+6.8 units) in revenging a loss vs. an opponent this year. It's also 9-3 (+5.2 units) after scoring 1 goal or less in its previous contest. And despite its suffocating play of late, note that this is a spot that Boston has struggled in all year, going 4-5 (-1.1 units) after shutting out its opponent in its previous game. Each team has been backed by superb goaltending and both have played well at both ends of the ice. I simply feel that the desperation level that the Blackhawks will be playing with tonight will ultimately prove to be the difference in Game 4; between these two evenly matched clubs, I'm backing the dog.
