Tennessee at Oklahoma 7:30 ET Soonrs (+) over Volunteers- Probably the best match-up of the day is happening when Tennessee (3-0 ATS 3-0) invades Norman Oklahoma to battle the Sooners (3-0, ATS 2-1). The Volunteers are off of a 71-0 beat down of Kent State and have three crushing victories, one against a weak NC State team 51-10. Tennessee has outscored the opposition 191-13 but will find Saturday’s competition a little tougher. the Sooner talent level is always worth a mention and they can play with most anybody anytime...especial a national game at home. The Chargers Justin Herbert threw for just 140 yards and this LA squad managed just 11 first downs and barely had 300 yards in total offense. Carolina who has now taken over the bottom spot in NFL rating replacing New England as the league worst. But, what happened with the NFL’s lowest rated team last week. The Patriots came up with the outright win and I will not be surprised if the Panthers pull off the same kind of victory. UNLV at Houston 7:00 ET Rebels (+) over Cougars- The question here is...what has happened to these two schools football programs? I recall Houston being a powerful club that would contend for a bowl bit, but things change as last season they were 4-8 where as in 2021 they were 12-2 and ranked as high as No.15. Now, they are barely favored at home against what is now an upstart program in UNLV. Rebels on 9-4 ATS run while the underdog in the last 24 decisions is 18-6 ATS. Take UNLV!

Florida Atlantic and Michigan State 7:00 ET Owls (+) over Spartans- For the most part when the Big Ten (18 teams) plays a school of FAU’s stature they are usually a three touchdown favorite but Michigan State has had issues of late. They cut their losses my removing Mel Tucker from the coaching job and that should help a club that is in the lower half of the conference. Florida Atlantic has gone to Tom Herman and in his second season after going just 4-8 he brought in NIL quarterbacks to upgrade the most important of positions. Last season the Owls were defeated by their Big ten opponent Illinois 23-17. Once again they keep it close. Take FLORIDA ATLANTIC!

Arizona at Denver 4:30 ET Cardinals (+) over Broncos- Arizona quarterback Kyler Murray has a rap that he does not fully prepare for an opponent they way an NFL QB should. Whether he knows the playbook or refuses to follow it he has yet to show the winning attitude needed at this level. But, not to worry because although Murray hasn’t played a down in this preseason he will again sit out which will give Desmond Ridder and Clayton Tone one more chance to lead the offense. Denver under Sean Patton is going with rookie Bo Nix over Zach Wilson and Jason Stidman to start the season but he will be sidelined here. Bronco QB’s other than Nix have one TD pass which wasn’t enough to win Wilson the job. With Nix out the rest of the club just has to look at what’s out there and are thinking...’we got no shot’. Justin Herbert has all the tools but has not measured up to expectations. Enter former Michigan guru and Herbert has yet to play a down. But, you are always live when playing the Dallas Cowboys as America’s team has such a loyal following they bet ‘on’ them under any and all conditions. LA has not scored a touchdown this preseason losing 16-3 to Seattle and 13-9 last week to the Rams with both games being played at home. Now, taking to the road they come up big against the always over-rated Cowboys. Take the L.A. CHARGERS!

Pittsburgh at Detroit 7:10 ET Steelers (-) over Lions- I don’t know who is going to get how much playing time for either team but I am sure one of these clubs will be hiding most of the game while the other has some atoning to do. Pittsburgh is 0-2 and didn’t scored a touchdown against Buffalo in a miserable offensive performance. Justin Fields and Russell Wilson have put up numbers in this league and now they are faced with a duel for the starting quarterbacks job that seems to give Wilson the edge. But, coach Mike Tomlin is not the gayful type and he wants to see progress and results and he will have the Steelers ready. Don’t you think that it is ridiculous for the 0-2 Man-in Black be a TD favorite in Detroit who is the odds on Vegas favorite to rep the NFC in the Super Bowl. Maybe they will, but they couldn't care less about this game and the oddsmakers know it. Barring something totally weird this is a lay-down. Take PITTSBURGH!

That will be the primary attutude of the Fins and they want to enter the year as healthy as possible. With two wins under their belts over Washington and Atlanta they will be playing every player that they plan to release. Tampa Bay has split their two prep game winning as a Power Play 17-14 winner over Cincinnati and dropped last weeks loss at Jacksonville. Indianapolis at Cincinnati 8:00 ET Colts over Bengals- I have had this Cincinnati team clock in both of the preseason games with the belief that their main concern is a healthy Joe Burrow and really not much else. In Week 1 the Bengals opening drive end with a touchdown run by Burrow against Tampa Bay and that’s all they wanted to see. The Buc’s went on to defeat the Bengals who once again laid down at Chicago (Money Game winner) 27-3. I don’t expect Burow to play and once again for Cincy to lay-in-wait for their opener against the Patriots. Indy took down Arizona last week after bowing to Denver 34-30 in week 1. Colts starters are to play most of the first half as they were rested last week. Take INDIANAPOLIS!

Oh, but are they? His radio host quickly supported his position and I have a totally different take on this match-up. To start with the Bears are hungry and have a strong competition going on for the starting quarterbacking job. On the Cincinnati side I think that all they really care about is a healthy Joe Burrow. They saw what they wanted last week when he took them down and scored. The Cats laid down after that like they will here. Line is a huge overlay...take CHICAGO!

So, what has happened here to move the Patriots into the favorites role which is something that just would not happen during the regular season. Boston has been consistent on the offensive end scoring 107, 105 and 106 while allowing 98 and 99 in the past two. With the knowledge that teams down 3-0 are 0-for-176 (or something close to that) in the series Dallas led by Kyrie (Flat World) Irving in what is for the most part a meaningless game. Boston at Dallas 8:30 ET Celtics (+) over Mavericks- Last time out in Game 2 it was universally a ‘push’ with the Celtics winning by seven and if you backed Dallas you should consider yourself lucky. I say this because having posted a Power Play on the Mavericks I stated that their fortunes depended on Kyrie Irving who has yet to playing a winning game against his former teammates. Well, The Celts must still be in the ‘World is flat’ believer because he once again was pitiful against them. Down 0-2 and headed home most will view this as Dallas’ last stand because an 0-3 deficit is too much to overcome. but, if Beantowners are to sweep they of course must win here. Minnesota at Dallas 8:30 ET Timberwolves (+) over Mavericks- The Dallas Mavericks have an opportunity to reach the NBA Finals for just the third time in franchise history when they seek to close out a sweep of the visiting Minnesota Timberwolves. The last time the Mavericks had a 3-0 lead in a playoff series was in 2011 when they finished off the sweep of the Los Angeles Lakers in the West semifinals en route to the title. After being held to 33.3-percent shooting in two home losses, Anthony Edwards broke through for Minnesota with an 11-for-24, 26-point outing in Game 3. All-Star teammate Towns continued to struggle, missing all eight of his 3-point attempts on a night when he totaled 14 points on 5-for-18 shooting. The Timberwolves have trailed 3-0 in a best-of-seven series just one time previously in their history and responded well, forcing the eventual champion Denver Nuggets to a fifth game last year in the first round.
