We already saw these two meet back in October when Indiana walked into Eugene and took a 30-20 win. That game was closer than the score looked, but Indiana’s defensive front was the difference. They notched six sacks and forced Dante Moore into two costly interceptions. The market is leaning toward the undefeated Hoosiers here, but the value is on the Ducks. Indiana is 14-0 and coming off a 38-3 blowout of Alabama in the Rose Bowl. They are the hottest team in the country and have the Heisman winner in Fernando Mendoza. However, Oregon’s defense is playing at an elite level right now. They just shut out Texas Tech in the Orange Bowl and have held opponents to 81 rushing yards or fewer in their biggest games this season. Oregon’s offense has evolved since the first meeting. Dante Moore is protecting the ball better, and the ground game with Noah Whittington is averaging over 200 yards over the last month. Indiana’s defense has been impenetrable, but they are dealing with some depth issues following the Rose Bowl. This is a neutral site game in Atlanta, but the Ducks are being treated like a significant underdog. Oregon has covered in four of their last five games and historically thrives in the underdog role under Dan Lanning. Indiana is the #1 team for a reason, but beating a high-caliber team like Oregon twice in one season is a brutal task. Expect a tight, one-possession game that comes down to the final drive.
