Scott "The Bulldog" Rickenbach SUPERBOWL *10* (Top Play) San Francisco vs Baltimore @ 6:30 PM ET - The San Francisco 49ers had one of the best defenses in the NFL during the regular season, ranking 4th in average rushing yards allowed, as well as passing yards allowed. They didn't look like one of the best defenses in the NFL against Atlanta though, and they were very fortunate to come away with a win in that game. Matt Ryan threw for 396 yards and three touchdowns, and the Falcons added 80 yards on the ground. The Falcons scored 24 points in the first half, and San Francisco was able to come back, scoring a pair of second half touchdowns to come from behind and win. San Francisco appears to be vulnerable to the deep ball, as Atlanta converted on several big plays in the first half of that game. When it comes to the deep ball, there is no better quarterback the Joe Flacco. Flacco has thrown 10 TDs, and no INTs over his past five games, and he's set an NFL record winning six playoffs games on he road. Colin Kaepernick was just average in the game in Atlanta, and now the rookie will play on the NFL's biggest stage in the big game. He threw an interception on his opening drive in the game before that against the Packers, but he was able to recover. He has looked good so far, but he's still a rookie, and he's facing a cool veteran in Flacco, I have to give the edge to the Ravens. The play is on Baltimore, a 10* Top Play selection.

The play is on the total points scored to go OVER the number, an 8* Regular Play selection.

Scott "The Bulldog" Rickenbach NFL *10* (Top Play) Baltimore vs New England @ 6:30 PM ET - While there are no sure things in the NFL, a lot of people would have told you that the Broncos beating Baltimore last weekend would be as close as it gets to a sure thing. We all know what happened, not only did the Ravens cover the spread, they won the game outright with a long field goal in overtime. So this week they go into New England, and it's the same story, the Patriots are the overwhelming favorite, giving up more than a touchdown at home. New England was a 10 point favorite last week, and only a field goal with just over a minute to play gave the enough points to cover. New England lost TE Rob Gronkowski in the victory over the Texans, as he broke the same forearm while diving to make a catch. They also lost running back Dany Woodhead with a thumb injury, and he is questionable for next week's game. The Ravens defense terrorized Peyton Manning last week, forcing him to fumble twice and throw a pair of interceptions. Ray Rice got a good workout against the Broncos, carrying the ball 30 times for 131 yards and a touchdown. Joe Flacco threw for 331 yards and three touchdowns, without throwing a single interception. Those numbers are almost equal to Tom Brady's numbers against the Texans. The Ravens are playing well on both sides of the ball, and with Ray Lewis retiring at the season's end, Baltimore is inspired. The Ravens will give New England plenty of fight in this game, and I think it's asking a lot for New England to win by more than a TD. The play is on Baltimore as the big underdog, it's a 10* Top Play selection.

Scott "The Bulldog" Rickenbach NFL *8* (Regular Play) San Franscisco vs Atlanta @ 3:00 PM ET - All the talk coming into last week's game between the Falcons and the Seahawks was centered around Seattle's defense versus Atlanta's offense, but it was the Falcons that pitched a shutout in the first half. While excellent defensive play from Atlanta was unexpected, it wasn't the only surprise. Nobody thought that the Falcons would be able to run on Seattle's defense, but Michael Turner was just 2 yards shy of 100, gaining 98 yards on just 14 carries. Backup running back Jaquizz Rodgers added 64 yards on 10 carries, and both backs ran with purpose, taking on defenders head on. The Falcons defense was very effective, limiting Marshawn Lynch to just 46 yards on 16 carries. The Packers really struggled to keep Colin Kaepernick in check, he ran for 181 yards two scores last week. Atlanta may have a little more success, they certainly looked good defending the run against the Seahawks last week. It wasn't all good for Kaepernick though, as he was just 17 of 31 passing, and he threw an interception returned for a touchdown on the opening drive. He was able to recover from a bad start at home in San Francisco, but that might be more challenging on the road in Atlanta. The crowd was a factor last week, forcing the Seahawks offensive line into taking quite a few false start penalties, as the offensive line wasn't able to communicate with all the noise. Atlanta has won it's last four meetings with the 49ers, and they are the underdog getting points at home in this game. The play is on the Falcons, an 8* Regular Play selection

Scott "The Bulldog" Rickenbach NFL *10* (Top Play - Playoff Total of the Year!) San Franscisco vs Atlanta - UNDER @ 3:00 PM ET - All the talk coming into last week's game between the Falcons and the Seahawks was centered around Seattle's defense versus Atlanta's offense, but it was the Falcons that pitched a shutout in the first half. These teams have trended toward low scoring games in past meetings, with five of the last seven games going under the total. The total in this game will be much higher than it was in any of those previous meetings. Last week's game against the Seahawks appeared to be a probable over, as the two teams combined for 34 points through three quarters, but a 21 point explosion in the fourth quarter pushed the total over the number. The 49ers found themselves in a shootout with the Packers last week, and the fact that the Packers completely abandoned their running was part of the reason for that. Green Bay handed tha ball off just 13 times in that game. I expect both teams to focus a lot more on the running game this week, and that will take time off the clock with each offensive possession. The play is on the total to go UNDER, a 10* Playoff Total of the Year, Top Play selection.

Scott "The Bulldog" Rickenbach NFL *10* (Regular Play) Houston vs New England @ 4:30 PM ET - The Texans went into Foxboro on December 10 with an 11-1 record, and they got their butts waxed by the Pats, losing 42-14. New England was a 5 point favorite in that game, and just a month later, the same two teams will play in the same location, and the line is twice as high as it was in the previous meeting. After all, the Patriots won big last time, surely they will do it again on Sunday. If only it were so simple, but in the NFL, and particularly the playoffs, it just doesn't work that way. In the previous game, Arian Foster only had 15 carries for 46 yards, but you can expect him to see a lot more of the football in this game. Foster has played three post-season games in his career, eclipsing the 100 yard mark in each of them. He was a beast against a strong Bengals defense last week, running for 140 yards and a TD, adding 8 receptions for 34 more yards. The Texans dominated on the defensive side of the ball last week as well, limiting the Bengals to fewer than 200 yards of total offense. They were particularly strong against the pass, allowing Andy Dalton to complete less than half of his pass attempts, for just 127 yards and an INT. He was also sacked twice for a loss of nine yards. The Patriots are likely to find things a little tougher against the Texans this week, and both Tom Brady and Bill Belichick are well aware of that. "We've played division games where we've played the same team twice in the division or three times already this year," Belichick said. "Those games don't mean anything." The Pats may have scored 42 points in the last meeting, but this is a new game, and those points don't count for anything here. The play is on the 12-4 Texans getting an incredible amount of points in New England, this is 10* Top Play selection.

Scott "The Bulldog" Rickenbach NFL *8* (Regular Play) Seattle vs Atlanta - OVER @ 1:00 PM ET - The Seahawks are in Atlanta to take on the Falcons on Sunday, and while earlier this season the Seahawks were making noise with their defense, it seems that their offense is now equally as impressive. Seattle is averaging over 38 points per game in their last five games, and they're going up against an Atlanta team that isn't known for great defense. Atlanta really struggles to stop the run, ranking 21st in the NFL, allowing an average of over 130 yards per game. That's a scary thought for Falcons fans, when you consider that the Seahawks ran for over 224 yards against Washington. They rank even worse against the pass, allowing an average of 242 passing yards per game. Seattle shouldn't have any trouble scoring points in Atlanta this week, and the Falcons are going to need to score points in a hurry if they want to keep up. It's not likely that the Falcons will enjoy much success running the ball, Seattle has been very tough against the run all season, and Atlanta's running game has been dreadful. That will put the pressure on Matt Ryan to get it done with the passing game. The last three head to head meetings between these teams resulted in the points going over the total, and that trend holds true in five of the last six previous meetings. The play is on the total to go over the points in Atlanta, this is an 8* Regular Play selection.

Scott "The Bulldog" Rickenbach NFL *10* (Top Play) Green Bay vs San Francisco @ 8 PM ET - Aaron Rodgers is returning home to Northern California, leading the Packers into San Francisco, looking for revenge against the 49ers. San Francisco embarrassed the Packers in their home opener at Lambeau Field, winning 30-22 in a game that wasn't nearly as close as the score would indicate. Things changed throughout the course of the season though, and this Green Bay defense looks nothing like the unit that rolled over for the 49ers in Week 1. Last week against the Vikings, the Green Bay defense recorded three sacks on backup quarterback Joe Webb, and he was only able to complete 11 of 30 attempts for 180 yards, 1 TD and an INT. Not only were they good against the pass, they also contained Adrian Peterson, holding him to 99 yards on 22 carries. San Francisco has looked like the team to beat at times this season, but they have also come out flat on quite a few occasions. The New York Giants had them figured out back in October, when they came into Candlestick Park and steamrolled the Niners, winning 26-3. Since then rookie Quarterback Colin Kaepernick has taken over for Alex Smith, and he's been fairly impressive overall. He's still a rookie though, and he has made some costly mistakes, one that comes to mind was an untimely fumble against the Rams, in a game the Niners went on to lose in OT. The Packers haven't been to San Francisco since 2006, a game that they would win by a score of 30-19. The history between these two teams favors Green Bay, the Packers are 5-1-1 ATS in the last seven meetings. With Aaron Rodgers behind center, and a defense that has really tightened up since getting Clay Mathews and Charles Woodson back, the Packers are going to be tough to beat. The play is on Green Bay, a 10* Top Play selection.

Scott "The Bulldog" Rickenbach NFL *8* (Regular Play) Baltimore vs Denver @ 4:30 PM ET - The Broncos defeated the Ravens by a score of 34-17 on December 16, but perhaps that game wasn't as one-sided as the score would lead you to believe. In fact, the Ravens dominated time of possession 38:34 to 21:26. They kept Peyton Manning in check, allowing the veteran to throw for just over 200 yards and a single touchdown. If the Ravens can contain Peyton to those kind of numbers in this game, you'd have to like their chances of winning outright. Baltimore was also without three key players in that previous matchup, none more significant that Ray Lewis, who will retire after this season. Lewis was all fired up against the Colts last week, providing a spark for fans and teammates, as well as coming up with some big plays on the field. Joe Flacco continued to prove his worth in the post-season, throwing for 282 yards and a pair of TDs against the Colts last week. The Ravens secondary kept Andrew Luck out of the endzone and recorded an interception on the rookie quarterback. Luck was also sacked three times for a loss of 21 yards. Denver is a heavy favorite at home in this game, especially when you consider that Baltimore is 7-2 ATS over the past nine meetings. As good as Peyton and the Broncos are, I'm afraid they are a victim of their own success, overrated and over-hyped. The play is on the Ravens, with an 8* Regular Play selection.

Scott "The Bulldog" Rickenbach NCAAF *10* (Top Play) OVER in Alabama vs Notre Dame @ 8:30 ET - This is a classic contrarian play that Rickenbach is well known for. While most will lean to the under here due to Notre Dame's defense headlining this game (and the fact that the Irish were 10-2 to the under this season), The Bulldog is lined up on the other side of the total. Note that Alabama's dominating offense scored at least 32 points in 11 of their 13 games this season. As for Notre Dame, they scored at least 20 points in 10 of their 12 games this season. Both teams know they can't just sit back and play a conservative game plan and expect to put up a bunch of points on the very respectable defenses they are facing. That said, both teams will not be shy about opening up the playbook here and looking for some big plays down the field. Look for Alabama to improve to 5-0 to the over in their last 5 games as a neutral field favorite of 7.5 to 10 points as this one climbs over the short number. The line value is on the over here with this low total. While both defenses deserve to be respected, both of these offenses are capable of solid outings as well and the low number here provides the value. Play OVER the total in the Championship Game as a *10* Top Play selection.
