08-01-19 | Reds v. Braves UNDER 9.5 | Top | 1-4 | Push | 0 | 8 h 7 m | Show |
The Reds and Braves begin their four game set tonight from Atlanta. The Reds took two of three in their series with Pittsburgh, including last night's win, 4-1. The Reds will turn to Anthony Desclafani tonight. Desclafani is 6-5 on the season with a 4.01 ERA. Desclafani has been very good of late, allowing three runs or fewer in each of his last five starts and nine of his last 10 starts. The Braves took two of three in their recent series at Washington. Max Fried will toe the rubber tonight for the Braves. Fried is 11-4 on the season with a 4.28 ERA. Both these pitchers having decent success this season. I like this game to go UNDER tonight. Play UNDER. |
07-31-19 | Pirates v. Reds UNDER 9.5 | 1-4 | Win | 100 | 6 h 35 m | Show
The Pittsburgh Pirates finally broke their 9-game losing streak on Tuesday with a win at Cincinnati. The Bucs jumped out to a big lead and never looked back. Still, this club has struggled to a 3-15 record their last 18 games. Dario Agrazal gets the start today for the Bucs with a 2-1 record in his six starts. Agrazal has a nice 3.24 ERA and other than one start has allowed three runs or fewer in the other five outings. The Reds had won six of their last nine games before Tuesday's setback. Good news is that they start their Ace today in Luis Castillo. Castillo is 9-4 on the season with a 2.78 ERA. Castillo got hit hard his last outing, allowing six runs over five innings. Normally consistent, that was Castillo's worst outing of the year. Don't expect this again, he's been very good for the Reds this season. I like today's game to go UNDER the total with two good pitchers on the hill. Play UNDER. |
07-30-19 | Mariners +115 v. Rangers | 8-5 | Win | 115 | 9 h 45 m | Show
The Seattle Mariners put their 5-game win streak on the line tonight at Texas in game one of their short 2-game set. The M's will start Mike Leake here tonight. Leake is 9-8 on the season with a 4.25 ERA. Leake has been good of late, allowing seven total runs over his last four starts. The Rangers dropped back to the .500 mark at 53-53 on the season. Ariel Jurado starts today for the Rangers. Jurado is 5-5 on the season with a 5.67 ERA. A bit surprised the M's are a dog here tonight against this Rangers club. But I'll take it, play the Mariners and take the extra bucks. |
07-30-19 | Diamondbacks v. Yankees OVER 11 | Top | 4-2 | Loss | -114 | 8 h 45 m | Show |
The Yankees salvaged the final game of their four-game series with the Red Sox, taking the fourth game on Sunday, 9-6. The Yankees pitching staff got hit pretty hard, allowing 44 runs over the four-game series. In fact, the Yankees have allowed at least six runs in each of their last eight games. So it's not a far stretch to realize they have gone over in nine straight games. J.A. Happ starts today with a 8-5 record and 5.23 ERA. Happ went only 3 1/3 innings in his last start, allowing six earned runs to the Twins. The Diamondbacks got rocked by the Marlins on Monday, losing 6-11. The Marlins took three of four from the visiting D'Backs. Taylor Clarke starts today for the D'backs. Clarke is 3-3 with a 6.66 ERA ont he season. The D'backs are 7-2-2 Over/Under/Push in his 11 starts this season. The Yankees are one of the best hitting teams and baseball and that doesn't look good here tonight for the visiting D'backs. This one should fly over the total. Play OVER. |
07-29-19 | Diamondbacks v. Marlins -108 | 6-11 | Win | 100 | 7 h 5 m | Show
The Marlins and Diamondbacks conclude their four-game series here tonight at Miami. The Marlins are 2-1 in this series, taking Sunday's game 5-1. The Marlins have now won four of their last five games. The D'backs are 4-6 in their last 10 games. Marlins have won the last four starts of Smith, while the D'backs have lost the last five starts of Kelly. Marlins still playing tough and I'm on them here tonight. Play Miami. |
07-29-19 | Braves v. Nationals -148 | Top | 3-6 | Win | 100 | 7 h 60 m | Show |
The Nationals are chasing the Braves in the NL East so this is a big series for Washington. The Nats are 5.5-games back of the Braves. Washington salvaged the last game of their series with the Dodgers, winning 11-4. The Braves lost on Sunday to the Phillies, but still took two of three from Philadelphia. Today Corbin gives the Nats an edge with the team winning 13 of his 21 starts. Keuchel has been decent for the Braves with a 3.50 ERA, but Atlanta is just 3-4 in his starts. Take the home club here in Washington. |
07-28-19 | Pirates v. Mets -117 | Top | 7-8 | Win | 100 | 10 h 24 m | Show |
The Pittsburgh Pirates fall continued on Saturday at New York with a 0-3 loss to the Mets. It was the Bucs 7th straight loss and 13th in their last 15 games. Chris Archer will try and snap this losing skid for the Bucs. Archer is 3-7 in his 18 starts with a 5.40 ERA. The Pirates have lost the last three starts for Archer and you have to go back to early June for the last time that Archer got a win for a decision. The Mets have won three straight games. Jason Vargas will toe the rubber today for the Mets. Vargas is 5-5 on the season with a 3.59 ERA and 1.221 WHIP. Vargas coming off a nice outing where he allowed no runs over six innings to the Padres for the win. Mets only a -1.20 chalk here today against a horrible Pirates team that just can't find a way to win a game these days. I'm taking the Mets and will continue to make money against the Pirates. Play New York Mets. |
07-27-19 | Yankees v. Red Sox -134 | Top | 5-9 | Win | 100 | 6 h 14 m | Show |
The Red Sox have taken the first two game of this rivalry series with the Yankees and have cut into their AL East lead, now down to 9-games. To say the Red Sox have exploded offensively against the Yankees the last two games is an understatement. Boston has scored 29 runs to 8 in the first two games of this series. Today, the Sox put one of their best on the hill in Eduardo Rodriguez. Rodriguez is 12-4 this season with a 4.10 ERA. Rodriguez has been excellent of late, allowing two runs or fewer in each of his last five games. The Yankees have now lost four of their last six games. C.C. Sabathia gets the start today and is 5-5 this season with a 4.50 ERA. Sabathia got rocked in his last start, going just four innings and allowing six earned runs. Sabathia is a veteran, but he only has six quality starts out of 16 times on the hill. The Red Sox want every game in this series and I think they have a great chance to do just that today. Take Boston. |
07-26-19 | Giants +131 v. Padres | Top | 2-1 | Win | 131 | 12 h 51 m | Show |
The San Francisco Giants have been one of the hottest teams in baseball? Is it too little too late? Not really. The Giants are 16-4 their last 20 games and that has gotten them to one game over the .500 mark. They still trail the division leading Dodgers by 14-games. However, they are now in contention for one of the Wild Card spots. Today, they travel South to take on the Padres. The Padres are 3.5 games back of the Giants in the West. I'm sure with the addition of Machado in the big offseason sweepstakes, the Padres expected much better results this season. The Padres are just 3-9 in their last 12 games. They will turn to Joey Lucchesi tonight. Lucchesi is 7-5 on the season with a 4.27 ERA and is off a 6-run effort vs the Cubs. The Giants counter with Jeff Samardzija. Samardzija is 7-8 on the season with a 4.08 ERA. Two pitchers here who are about even. The Giants are the much hotter team though. So why are the Giants a +1.30 dog? I think this line is a bit off, but that's ok, I'll take the price with a team that I see can win this game easily. Play San Francisco. |
07-25-19 | Yankees v. Red Sox OVER 11 | Top | 3-19 | Win | 100 | 16 h 13 m | Show |
The Yankees took game one of their historic rivalry matchup with the Red Sox on Wednesday, 10-7. The win extended the Yankees win streak to two games while the Red Sox snapped their win streak at 2-games. The Yankees will start Masahiro Tanaka today. Tanaka is 7-5 in his 20 starts with a 4.00 ERA. The Red Sox now trail the Yankees by 12-games in the AL East, but at 56-47 they still are in the run for one of the two Wild Card spots. Rick Porcello will get the start today. Porcello is 8-7 on the season with a lofty 5.61 ERA and 1.464 WHIP. Porcello has been hit hard in his last five starts, allowing 27 runs over 23 innings. The Yankees are one of the best hitting teams in baseball and that doesn't bode well here today for the Red Sox. And with Tanaka not being very consistent, I'm looking to play the OVER here on Thursday. |
07-24-19 | Cardinals -102 v. Pirates | Top | 14-8 | Win | 100 | 10 h 36 m | Show |
: The St Louis Cardinals have been one of the hottest teams in the NL this 2nd half of the season. It doesn't hurt that they are playing Pittsburgh for the 6th time in their last 10 games. The Pirates are snake bit of late as they just keep finding ways to lose games. The Cardinals have taken the first two games of this series, 4-3 and 6-5. Adam Wainwright gets the call today for the Red Birds. Wainwright is 6-7 with a 4.41 ERA. Wainwright is either really good or really bad. The Pirates have lost nine of their last 11 games. Jordan Lyles will toe the rubber tonight for the Bucs. Lyles is 5-6 with a 4.91 ERA and 1.401 WHIP. Lyles, much like Wainwright, has been either really good or really bad. Tonight, I fully expect another St Louis win against a Pittsburgh team that just can't seem to win right now. Play St Louis. |
07-23-19 | Cubs v. Giants +104 | Top | 4-5 | Win | 104 | 11 h 57 m | Show |
The Giants have been red hot in the West, winners of 15 of their past 18 games and they have reached the .500 mark. While they likely will never catch the Dodgers, they do appear back in the NL Wild Card race. Which begs the question, is Madison Bumgarner still on the trading block with the deadline looming? Bumgarner gets the start today and it could quite possibly be his last in a Giants uniform. Bumgarner is only 5-7 on the season, but he has a good 3.58 ERA and he's been great of late. Bumgarner has allowed just three total runs over his last four starts. The NL Central leading Cubs visit San Francisco today. The Cubs lead the Brewers by just 2.5 games. Yu Darvish gets the start today for the Cubs. Darvish has been a major disappointment for the Cubs. In fact, he hasn't really been good in some time. Darvish is just 3-4 with a 4.46 ERA. He's also given up nine runs over his last two starts (9 innings). I like the Giants a lot here on Tuesday as they are red hot and Bumgarner has been on fire. Play San Francisco. |
07-23-19 | Red Sox v. Rays +155 | 5-4 | Loss | -100 | 8 h 21 m | Show
The Red Sox and Rays continue to fight each other for the AL Wild Card spots. Both trail in the AL East, the Sox 9-games back of the Yankees and the Rays 8-games back. Still, both having good seasons. The Rays lost game one of this series on Monday to the Sox, 4-9. Today, they start Yonny Chirinos. Chirinos is 5-5 on the season with a nice 3.12 ERA. The Red Sox counter with Chris Sale. Sale not having a year he will be proud of with a 4-9 record and 4.05 ERA. The oddsmakers still think he's a factor though, making him a 160+ favorite on the road here today. Yes, Sale had a great start last time out, allowing just two hits and no runs over 6-innings to the Blue Jays. However, the three starts prior he allowed 15 earned runs over three starts (16 2/3 innings). I'm sorry, but Sale should not be this big a chalk here today against a good Rays club. I'll take the value dog at home. Play Tampa Bay. |
07-22-19 | Reds v. Brewers UNDER 9 | 6-5 | Loss | -110 | 9 h 19 m | Show
The Reds have lost five of their last six games and nine of their last 12 games. Today, the Reds begin a series at Milwaukee and will send Sonny Gray to the hill. Gray is only 5-6 in his 19 starts, but has a decent 3.31 ERA and 1.132 WHIP. In fact, Gray has been solid in recent starts, allowing five total runs over his last four starts (27 1/3 innings) with just five walks and 35 KO's. Meanwhile, the Brewers have fallen to second place in the NL Central, 2.5-games back of the Cubs. Chase Anderson takes the ball today for the Brewers. Anderson is 4-2 in his 14 starts this season with a 3.88 ERA. Anderson has also been very good of late, allowing two runs or fewer in each of his last five starts. Both these starters today have been excellent lately and while I don't like a side here, I'm playing the UNDER. |
07-22-19 | Yankees -118 v. Twins | Top | 6-8 | Loss | -118 | 9 h 20 m | Show |
The Yankees had their 5-game win streak snapped on Sunday by the Rockies after taking the first two games in the series. The Twins beat the A's on Sunday, 7-6, snapping their 2-game losing streak. The Yankees are 64-34 now in the AL East, some 9-games ahead of the Rays. New York starts C.C. Sabathia today who is 5-4 in his 15 starts. Sabathia has been solid of late thought, allowing three runs or less in each of his last four games. The Twins improved to 60-38 with their win and are 3-games ahead of the Indians for the AL Central. Minnesota sends Martin Perez to the hill today. Perez is 7-3 in his 16 starts with a 3.79 ERA. Sabathia can be a question mark at times, but I like his recent starts and you can't get much better in offense than the Yankees. Play New York. |
07-22-19 | Cardinals -105 v. Pirates | 6-5 | Win | 100 | 8 h 14 m | Show
The St Louis Cardinals continue to move up in the NL Central division, now just 2-games back of 2nd place Milwaukee and 4.5-games back of first place Cubs. The Cardinals have won four of their last five games and seven of their last nine games. Daniel Ponce de Leon makes his 6th start of the season today. While de Leon has no record, he has a nifty 2.49 ERA and 1.066 WHIP in those starts. In addition, the Cardinals have won four of his five starts. Meanwhile, Pittsburgh continues to find ways to lose games. The Bucs lost two of their three to the Phillies over their weekend series and have now lost seven of their last nine games. Trevor Williams gets the start today for Pittsburgh. Williams is 3-3 in his 13 starts with a 5.16 ERA. Williams has been hit hard in recent starts, allowing 13 earned runs over his last two outings and 24 earned runs over his last four starts. I like the Cardinals here today. They have the better starter and have been playing the better ball. Take St Louis. |
07-21-19 | Brewers v. Diamondbacks UNDER 9 | 7-4 | Loss | -110 | 6 h 35 m | Show
The Brewers have dropped to 2nd place in the NL Central, trailing the Cubs by 3-games. The Brewers have won two of three in this series with the Diamondbacks. Today, Brandon Woodruff gets the start. Woodruff has been one of the best this year with an 11-3 record in his 19 starts. Woodruff also has a 3.53 ERA. He's been even better than that of late, allowing three total runs over his last three starts (20 1/3 innings). Arizona, as all other NL West teams, are likely playing for a Wild Card spot with the Dodgers way out in front in the division. Arizona will start Alex Young today. Young has only started three games, but all three have been solid. Young has allowed just two earned runs total in those three starts (16 1/3 innings) with six total his, three walks and 12 KO's. If they can continue to get these kind of starts out of Young, he will prove an excellent addition to the starting staff. I'm taking the UNDER here today with two hot pitchers on the mound. Play UNDER. |
07-21-19 | A's v. Twins UNDER 10.5 | Top | 6-7 | Loss | -105 | 4 h 34 m | Show |
The A's conclude their series with the Twins today in Minnesota. Oakland leads 2-1 after winning on Friday and Saturday. All three games have gone UNDER thus far. The A's are just 5.5 games back of Houston in the AL West now. Daniel Mengden starts today for the A's. Mengden is 5-1 with a 3.35 ERA in his seven starts. The A's lost his first start back on May 12th, but since then they are 6-0 in his starts. Mengden is coming off an excellent start, allowing four hits and one run to the Mariners in a 9-2 win. The Twins lead over the Indians has dropped to 3-games as they look to snap this two-game skid to the A's. Michael Pineda is 6-5 and will start today. Pineda has 4.38 ERA, but has been great of late. Pineda has allowed one earned run in each of his last three starts and five of his last six starts. Both pitchers are hot and as this series gone, I go. Play the UNDER. |
07-19-19 | Phillies -105 v. Pirates | Top | 6-1 | Win | 100 | 8 h 23 m | Show |
The Phillies have to be happy that they split their 4-game series with the MLB's best record team in the Dodgers. Especially after giving the Dodgers 37 runs in a four-game series. I had the Phillies yesterday and talked about how the LA bullpen is their Achilles's Heal. That's exactly what happened as the Dodgers blew another lead on Thursday and the Phils came back to win. Today, Philly plays at the struggling Pirates. The Pirates have lost five of their last six games and seven of their last 10. The Bucs will start Jordan Lyles tonight. Lyles is 5-6 with a 5.16 ERA and has allowed 14 runs over his last 4 2/3 innings. Jake Arrieta starts for the Phils. Arrieta is 8-7 on the season with a 4.54 ERA. Arrieta coming off a good outing where he allowed one run over 5-innings of work. Neither pitcher is great, but the Phils are the better team and Pittsburgh is finding ways to lose. I'm taking the Phillies here at pick'em. Play Philadelphia. |
07-18-19 | Mets v. Giants -112 | 2-3 | Win | 100 | 8 h 9 m | Show
Both these clubs off to hot 2nd half starts with the Mets winning four straight and the Giants five straight. The Mets are still only 44-51 while the Giants are almost back to .500 at 47-49. The Mets will start Noah Syndergaard tonight, who is 7-4 in his 18 starts with a 4.55 ERA. Syndergaard has been one of the better pitchers for the Mets this season. He will face Giants starter Madison Bumgarner. Bumgarner is 5-7 on the season with a 3.78 ERA. However, he's pitched much like his old self here lately, allowing just four total runs over his last four starts (19 innings. The Giants are far back in the West, but they are making a big move with five straight wins and 12 wins in their last 14. I like the Red-Hot Giants a lot here tonight. Play San Francisco. |
07-18-19 | Dodgers v. Phillies +107 | Top | 6-7 | Win | 107 | 2 h 24 m | Show |
Early action here on the diamond for Thursday has baseball's best team (by record), the Dodgers, taking on the Phillies. The Dodgers have a league leading 64 wins this season and did take Wednesday's game with the Phillies, 7-2. LA has now scored 31 runs in the three games with the Phillies and taken two of the three. However, they could easily be up 3-0 in this four-game set. But as good as LA is, their one Achilles's Heal is their bullpen. The middle relief has been sketchy at best and the closer, Jansen, well lets just say he's always a gamble when he takes the mound. LA was leading in the 9th inning on Tuesday night when Jansen came in and gave up four straight hits, including the walk off winning hit by Harper. If there is one area LA needs to improve on before the trade deadline if they want to WIN the World Series and not just go there, that would be a closer. Ross Stipling is 2-2 in his 10 starts with a 3.53 ERA. Stripling has been inconsistent this season. Aaron Nola will oppose him for the Phillies. Nola is 8-2 in his 20 starts with a 3.63 ERA and has been very good of late. Nola has allowed just three total runs over his last five starts (35 2/3 innings). As good as the Dodgers are, Nola is the better starter today. I'm taking the Phillies and hoping they are close in the late innings when the LA bullpen takes to the hill. Play Los Angeles. |
07-17-19 | Pirates v. Cardinals UNDER 9 | Top | 5-6 | Loss | -110 | 12 h 46 m | Show |
The Pirates broke their four-game losing streak on Tuesday with a 3-1 win at St Louis. The loss also snapped a 3-game winning streak for the Cardinals. Today's matchup I'll be looking at the UNDER. These clubs went under for the 2nd time in this series with the four runs on Tuesday and the seven runs on Monday. Chris Archer will start today for the Pirates. Archer is only 3-6 on the season with a 5.42 ERA. However, he's pitched much better of late, allowing just nine total runs over his last four starts (20 innings). During that span the Bucs are 3-1 while Archer has no decisions in each. The Cardinals have been an under team this year with a 38-47-7 O/U/P mark. St Louis has now gone under in six straight games. Daniel Poncedeleon starts today for just his fifth time. While he has no record, he does have a nifty 1.25 ERA and has allowed just three total runs over his 21 2/3 innings. In addition, he has eight walks to go with his 23 KO's. I will look once again for the UNDER here early on Wednesday. Play UNDER. |
07-16-19 | Diamondbacks v. Rangers -157 | Top | 9-2 | Loss | -157 | 10 h 21 m | Show |
Arizona in a four-way fight for 2nd place in the NL West. The Dodgers are running away with the division at 63-33. The D'backs and the rest of the division are all within 2-games with Arizona at 47-47. Arizona has lost two straight games after a modest 4-game win streak. Alex Young makes only his third start of the season here tonight. Young is 2-0 with a 0.82 ERA and 0.455 WHIP. Young has allowed just one run over his 11 innings of work thus far. The Rangers have dropped to 8.5-games back of the Astros in the AL West after losing two straight games. The Rangers will turn to their ACE this year in Lance Lynn. Lynn is having a terrific season at 12-4 with a 3.69 ERA. Lynn has allowed just two runs over his last three starts (22 innings) with three walks and 26 KO's. The way Lynn is pitching, this line should be even higher than it is today. I love the Rangers in this one, even at a buck-fifty or there abouts. Play Texas. |
07-15-19 | Braves -101 v. Brewers | Top | 4-2 | Win | 100 | 9 h 49 m | Show |
The Atlanta Braves bring a 4-game winning streak into today's game at Milwaukee. The Braves are having an outstanding season at 57-37 and in 1st place in the NL East, 7-games ahead of 2nd place Washington. The Braves will send Max Fried to the hill today. Fried is 9-4 in his 18 starts with a 4.36 ERA and 1.412 WHIP. Fried hasn't been great, but he's received a lot of run support this year. And, he has 10 quality starts in his 18 outings. The Brewers have dropped to 48-46 now and 2.5-games back of the Cubs for first place in the NL Central. Milwaukee has lost four of their last five and seven of their last nine games. Adrian Houser starts today for the Brewers with a 0-3 record in his five starts. Houser has a 8.47 ERA and 2.176 WHIP. Houser has yet to have a quality outing and I don't expect one today against a very potent Atlanta offense. Not sure why the Braves are this price here today. The oddsmaker are giving way too much respect to a struggling Milwaukee team. I'll take the Braves here on the road at around pick'em. Play Atlanta. |
07-14-19 | Mets v. Marlins UNDER 7 | 6-2 | Loss | -100 | 3 h 46 m | Show
I'll be looking at the under in this contest today. One big reason is that hurler on the hill for the Mets, Jacob deGrom. deGrom is only 4-7 on the season, but he's been so consistent. In his last nine starts he's allowed two runs or fewer in eight starts and three runs in the other start. deGrom has a nice 2.89 ERA on the road this season. The Marlins will counter with Sandy Alcantara. Alcantara is only 4-8 this year, but he's got a decent 3.82 ERA and he's also allowed two runs or fewer in six of his last nine starts. Don't expect the Marlins to get much of anything here today. If we can get a good start out of Alcantara, this one will go UNDER. |
07-14-19 | Twins v. Indians UNDER 8.5 | Top | 3-4 | Win | 100 | 3 h 45 m | Show |
The Indians showing they might not be good enough to catch the Twins in the AL Central. They Indians have lost the first two games in this critical series, scoring just two runs yesterday and three runs on Friday. Shane Bieber will start today for the Tribe, with a 8-3 record and 3.43 ERA this season. Bieber has been excellent of late, allowing two runs or fewer in six of his last seven starts. The Twins turn to Jose Berrios today. Berrios is 8-5 in his 18 starts. But what impresses me even more is that he's had 14 quality starts in his 18 outings. Berrios has a nifty 3.00 ERA and hasn't allowed more than 3-runs in his last eight starts. I love this one to go UNDER here on Sunday. Play UNDER. |
07-13-19 | Twins v. Indians -136 | Top | 6-2 | Loss | -136 | 8 h 11 m | Show |
Reason: Huge series here for the Indians as they can't afford to lose any more ground in the AL Central race to the division leading Twins. The Indians lost game one of this series on Friday, 3-5 and now are 6.5-games back. The Indians will look to Trevor Bauer today. Bauer is 8-6 with a 3.68 ERA and 1.182 WHIP on the season. Bauer has had a few rough spots lately but has still shown his flashes of brilliance. In his last start, Bauer went seven strong innings, allowed one run for the win over the Reds. The Twins will start Jake Odorizzi. Odorizzi is 10-4 on the season with a 3.15 ERA. Odorizzi got hit hard last time out, going only 3-innings, allowing four hits and five runs to go with three walks. That's nine runs he's allowed over his last 8 1/3 innings. Indians need this one tonight. Play Cleveland. |
07-12-19 | Dodgers v. Red Sox -112 | 1-8 | Win | 100 | 8 h 43 m | Show
: Rematch of the World Series from last season as the Dodgers take on the Red Sox from Fenway park. The Dodgers have the best record in baseball at 60-32 and the Red Sox have played much better of late, now 49-41 on the season and winners of four straight games. LA will start Kenta Maeda today with a 7-5 record in his 17 starts and a 3.76 ERA. Maeda has pitched well all season and has allowed nine total runs over his last four starts (24 innings). The Red Sox have closed to within 2.5-games of 2nd place Tampa Bay and 9-games of 1st place New York. The Sox will start Eduardo Rodriguez today. Rodriguez is 9-4 in his 18 starts with a 4.65 ERA and 1.344 WHIP. This looks to be one of the best games and matchups on the board. I like the host here as the Red Sox are looking much better of late. Play Boston. |
07-12-19 | Rays -138 v. Orioles | Top | 16-4 | Win | 100 | 19 h 45 m | Show |
The Rays being the 2nd half of the MLB season with a 6.5 game deficit in the AL East behind the Yankees. The Yankees having a great season, so the Rays are chasing one of the best this year. Good news is that the Rays are positioned for a Wild Card spot right now. The Rays will send Yonny Chirinos to the hill today. Chirinos is 4-4 with a 2.89 ERA this season. Chirinos has pitched very well in his 12 starts with 9 quality outings. In addition, he's allowed three runs or fewer in 11 of those starts. The Orioles are having a horrible season at 27-62. Dylan Bundy will toe the rubber today for the O's. Bundy is 4-10 on the season with a 4.65 ERA. Bundy is coming off one of his best starts of the season, a three-hit, one-run outing last time at Toronto in a 4-1 Jays win. These are the games the Rays really need to clean up on the rest of the way. And Chirinos has been such a consistent pitcher all season. I'm playing Tampa Bay. |
07-11-19 | Astros v. Rangers +127 | Top | 0-5 | Win | 127 | 17 h 12 m | Show |
Start of the 2nd half of the season today with just this one game between the Astros and the Rangers. Big game for both as the Rangers have closed the gap the in AL West. Yes, they still trail first place Houston by nine-games, but it was a lot more than that five weeks ago. Texas can take a bite out of that lead as they play Houston in seven of their next nine games. The Rangers pitcher with the most wins, Lance Lynn, takes the hill today. Lynn is 11-4 on the season with a 3.91 ERA and 1.217 WHIP. Lynn has won four straight starts and allowed over two runs just once in those wins. The Astros will counter with Framber Valdez. Valdez is 1-2 in his four starts with a 6.52 ERA and 1.397 WHIP. Valdez has allowed 11 runs over his last 6 1/3 innings. The Rangers look like a good start here to the 2nd half with a decisive edge on the hill today. Plus, we get the Rangers as a home dog! Take Texas. |
07-07-19 | Indians -118 v. Reds | Top | 11-1 | Win | 100 | 3 h 55 m | Show |
Intrastate rivalry today between these Ohio teams has the Reds hosting the Indians in this final day of the 1st half of the MLB season. The Indians look to close out this last day of the 1st half of the season with a six game winning streak. The Indians improved to 49-38. They will start Trevor Bauer today. Bauer is 7-6 in his 19 starts with a 3.82 ERA. Bauer has been better on the road with a 6-3 record and 2.56 ERA this season in nine starts. The Reds will counter with Tyler Mahle today. Mahle is 2-8 with a 4.47 ERA in his 16 starts. The Reds have lost four of Mahle's last five starts. I'm taking the road team here in this Ohio rivalry game today. Play Cleveland. |
07-06-19 | Rockies +112 v. Diamondbacks | 2-4 | Loss | -100 | 11 h 17 m | Show
The Rockies and Diamondbacks both looking to finish the first half of the season on a positive note. Both clubs have 44 wins entering today's play. Yet, both trail first place LA Dodgers by double-digits. The Rockies have lost four straight games. They will send Jon Gray to the hill. Gray is 9-5 in his 17 starts and the team is 11-6 in his outings. Gray has a nice 3.86 ERA and the Rocks have won seven of his last eight starts. Arizona will counter with Robbie Ray. Ray is 5-6 in his 18 starts with a 4.10 ERA. The D'backs have lost Ray's last four starts and six of his last seven. I like the visitors today. These are pretty equal teams, but I give the big edge to Gray over Ray here tonight. Play Colorado. |
07-06-19 | Cardinals v. Giants -120 | 4-8 | Win | 100 | 11 h 12 m | Show
The Cardinals look to extend their 3-game win streak tonight at San Francisco after beating the Giants on Friday evening, 9-4. Two more games here this weekend before the All Star break. The Cardinals will send Miles Mikolas to the hill today. Mikolas is 5-8 in his 17 starts with a 4.34 ERA. Mikolas has been up and down all season long. The birds have lost six of his last seven starts. The Giants had their own 4-game win streak snapped last night by the Cards. Madison Bumgarner will toe the rubber tonight for the Giants. Bumgarner is 5-7 in his 18 starts with a 3.94 ERA. Bumgarner has pitched well of late, going 13 total innings, allowing just seven hits and three runs. I like the hosts to rebound here tonight. Play San Francisco. |
07-06-19 | Cubs v. White Sox +100 | Top | 6-3 | Loss | -100 | 18 h 60 m | Show |
The City series picks up from the South side of Chicago as the White Sox host the Cubs. This will be the last series for these clubs before the All Star break. The Cubs are coming off a series loss to the Pirates, 1-3. They did salvage the last game of the series, 11-3. Jon Lester starts today for the Cubs. Lester has been inconsistent all season, evidenced by his 7-6 record in 16 starts. Lester has a 3.89 ERA and 1.307 WHIP. The Sox have won three of their last four games and five of seven. They will send their best pitcher to the mound today, Lucas Giolito. Giolito is 11-2 in his 16 starts with a 2.72 ERA. Giolito is coming off a five-inning outing vs the Twins where he allowed just one hit and no runs. The Sox have won 10 of Giolito's last 12 starts. I like the Sox here tonight with their best on the hill. Play the White Sox. |
07-05-19 | A's -137 v. Mariners | Top | 5-2 | Win | 100 | 13 h 33 m | Show |
The AL West has become a race again since the Astros have cooled off some. Still. the 2nd place A's look to continue closing that 7.5 game gap with Houston here tonight. The A's just took two of three games from the Twins as they head into this final series before the All Star game. The A's will send Brett Anderson to the hill today. Anderson is 8-5 in his 17 starts with a 3.92 ERA. With the exception of one poor outing, Anderson has pitched well in seven of his last eight starts. The Mariners just dropped two of three games to the Cardinals. That makes Seattle 1-6 in their last seven games and drops them to 38-53 on the season. Yusei Kukuchi will toe the rubber today for the M's. Kukuchi is 4-5 with a 5.12 ERA in his 18 starts. Kukuchi has been roughed up a bit of late, allowing five runs or more in five of his last seven starts. I'm sticking with the hotter team and better starter tonight. Play Oakland. |
07-04-19 | Brewers -120 v. Reds | Top | 0-1 | Loss | -120 | 4 h 59 m | Show |
The Brewers look to snap their two-game losing streak to the Reds here on Thursday. Milwaukee took game one 8-6, lost game two 4-5 and lost game three 0-3 yesterday. I had my 1st half of the season Game of the Year winner on the Reds yesterday in that shutout. Today, I'm switching over to the Brewers. Brandon Woodruff will start today with a 10-2 record in his 17 starts. Woodruff has a 3.79 ERA and 1.137 WHIP. The Brewers have won 11 of the last 12 starts by Woodruff. The Reds win yesterday was just their 2nd in the last seven games. They will turn to Luis Castillo today. Castillo is 7-3 in his 17 starts with a 2.56 ERA. Castillo has pitched well, but the Reds have still only won one of his last four starts and two of his last seven. I like the Brewers to bounce back here today and take this final game of the series. Play Milwaukee. |
07-03-19 | Brewers v. Reds -127 | Top | 0-3 | Win | 100 | 9 h 51 m | Show |
These clubs have split the first two games of this 4-game set. The Brewers took game one on Monday, 8-6 and the Reds took game two yesterday, 5-4. The Brewers still holding onto first place in the NL Central with a 46-40 record, one game over the Cubs and the Reds while in last are just 5.5 games back. The Reds will turn to Sonny Gray today. Gray is 4-5 in his 16 starts with a 3.83 ERA. Gray has pitched very well though, allowing over three runs in any start just once in his 16 outings. Gray keeps this Reds team in games and that's important. The Brewers will start Jhoulys Chacin. Chacin is 3-8 and struggled to a 5.60 ERA and 1.521 WHIP this season. Chacin is coming off one of his better starts though, going five innings and allowing just one run to the Pirates. The Brewers have lost six of Chacin's last seven starts. I like the Reds a lot here tonight. Play Cincinnati. |
07-02-19 | Twins v. A's +112 | 6-8 | Win | 112 | 22 h 23 m | Show
Both these clubs had Monday off as they head into this final week before the All-Star break. The Twins hold a comfortable 8-game lead in the AL Central over the Indians and 13 games over the White Sox, though they are just 5-5 in their last 10 games. The A's are 46-39 and 7-games back of Houston in the AL West. The Astros lead has shrunk in recent weeks and now both the Rangers and A's are back in contention. Jake Odorizzi gets the start today for the Twins. Odorizzi is 10-3 with a 2.73 ERA, though he has allowed 11 runs over his last 15 1/3 innings of work. The A's have won three-straight games and will look for four here with Daniel Mengden. Mengden is 2-1 in his four starts with a 2.42 ERA. Mengden gave up four runs in his first start and since has allowed a total of two runs over his next three starts. The A's are a home dog here and Mengden has all it takes to stick with the Odorizzi. I'm taking the home dog. Play Oakland. |
06-30-19 | Twins v. White Sox -114 | Top | 3-4 | Win | 100 | 4 h 2 m | Show |
The Twins snapped their modest 2-game losing streak with a win over the White Sox on Saturday, 10-3. Lewis Thorpe has been called up from Triple-A Rochester to make a spot start here on Sunday. Kyle Gibson, today's starter, had to be used in that marathon 18-inning affair last Thursday. Thorpe has 14 starts in Rochester with a 5.71 ERA and 1.37 WHIP. The White Sox start their best here on Sunday in Lucas Giolito. Giolito is 10-2 in his 15 starts with a 2.87 ERA and 1.066 WHIP. The White Sox have lost Giolito's last two starts after winning nine straight. Still, Giolito is the best the Sox have to offer and I'll be on him here today. Play the White Sox. |
06-30-19 | Rangers +176 v. Rays | 2-6 | Loss | -100 | 12 h 36 m | Show
The Houston Astros have struggled lately and that carried over on Saturday even to their Ace, Justin Verlander. It was a tough outing for their top pitcher, but they did pull out the win over the 35-50 Mariners, 6-5 in 10 Innings. Texas saw their 5-game winning streak snapped on Saturday, 2-5. Still, the Rangers have made the AL West a race having closed the lead to just 5.5 games. The Rangers will start Jesse Chavez today. Chavez is 1-0 in just five starts with a 0.00 ERA. Chavez was only going one inning or so, but lately has gone three and five innings. Still, he's allowed no earned runs and the team is 4-1 in his starts. The win by Tampa on Saturday was just their 2nd in five games and fourth in their last 12 games. Blake Snell starts today's contest. Snell is 4-7 in his 16 starts with a 5.01 ERA and 1.342 WHIP. Snell was hit hard in his last outing, going just 3 1/3 innings and allowing seven runs. The start before that Snell went just 1/3 of an inning and allowed six runs. That means he's gone just 3 2/3 innings his last two starts and allowed 13 earned runs. Not sure what's wrong with Snell, but this is not the same pitcher we saw last year. I'm taking a hot Texas team today. Play Texas. |
06-29-19 | Diamondbacks -138 v. Giants | 4-3 | Win | 100 | 12 h 31 m | Show
Arizona and San Francisco have split the first two games of this four-game series, with the Diamondbacks taking game 1 and the Giants winning on Friday night, 6-3. The D'backs will send their Ace to the hill for Saturday night's contest. Zack Greinke is 8-3 in his 17 starts with a 3.08 ERA and 0.954 WHIP. The D'backs have won four of his last five starts even though Greinke has been hit harder in his last two outings, allowing nine runs over 13 innings. The Giants have had a rough season and lately they have lost four of their last six games. Drew Pmeranz will start today with a 2-8 record and lofty 6.79 ERA and 1.748 WHIP. Pomerance had been on a roll before the last two games. He's allowed nine runs over his last 9 1/3 innings. The Giants have also lost four of his last six starts. Big difference in starters here tonight, the D'backs Ace against a struggling Giants hurler. The price is right too. Play Arizona. |
06-29-19 | Phillies v. Marlins +121 | Top | 6-9 | Win | 121 | 14 h 28 m | Show |
The Phillies had their 4-game winning streak snapped by the Marlins in game one of their series on Friday, 6-2. The Phillies are still in 2nd place in the NL East, while the Marlins are in last place. Miami snapped its three game losing streak with the win on Friday. The Marlins will send Jordan Yamamoto to the hill today with a 3-0 record in his three starts. Yamamoto has been very good, allowing just two total runs for a 0.95 ERA and 0.789 WHIP. Philly will counter with Zach Eflin. Eflin is 7-7 in his 15 starts with a 3.26 ERA. Eflin got rocked his last start, allowing six runs and 11 hits over 5-innings of work. Still, the Phillies won that game, but are still just 2-5 in Eflin's last seven starts. I'm not 100% convinced in Yamamoto yet, but anyone who has had three excellent starts and now is a home dog, is a play for me. I'm taking the Marlins as a live dog here on Saturday. |
06-28-19 | Rangers +130 v. Rays | Top | 5-0 | Win | 130 | 9 h 23 m | Show |
Texas brings a 5-game win streak into today's first game with the Rays. The Rays won yesterday over Minnesota, salvaging one game of that three-game series with the Twins. The Rays have now lost seven of their last 10 games. Yonny Chirinos will start today for the Rays. Chirinos is 4-3 in his 10 starts this season with a nice 2.63 ERA. Even with those good numbers the Rays have lost his last three starts and four of five. The Rangers have quietly broken off what looked to be a insurmountable Houston lead in the AL West to just 4.5-games with a 5-game winning streak. The Rangers will start their top winner today in Lance Lynn. Lynn leads the staff with nine wins and a 4.32 ERA. Rangers are around a +1.30 dog here today. I like teams on a winning streak with one of their best on the mound and a dog. Big series for the Rangers to get back into this race. Take Texas tonight. |
06-27-19 | Diamondbacks v. Giants OVER 8.5 | Top | 5-1 | Loss | -100 | 10 h 21 m | Show |
I'm looking at the OVER in this matchup tonight. Both these clubs have been over teams this year with the D'backs at 41-37-4 O/U/P and the Giants at 40-35-4 O/U/P. The D'backs do it with an offense that averages 5.2 runs per game while allowing 4.6 runs. The Giants only average 3.9 runs, but allow a whopping 5.1 runs per game. The D'backs will start Lefty Alex Young tonight. Young was brought up from Triple-A Reno. Young has a 6.09 ERA in his 20 appearances at Reno this year. The Giants will start Tyler Beede who has a 1-1 record but a lofty 7.08 REA and 1.786 WHIP. Two horrible pitchers here tonight along with two suspect bullpens. I really like this one go to OVER tonight. Play the OVER. |
06-26-19 | Rangers -102 v. Tigers | Top | 4-1 | Win | 100 | 9 h 19 m | Show |
The Texas Rangers won their 3rd game in a row yesterday, while the Tigers lost their 5th in a row. The Rangers took the opener with the Tigers 5-3. Today they will start Mike Minor. Minor is 7-4 for the Rangers in 16 starts with a 2.52 ERA and 1.148 WHIP. Minor has not allowed more than three runs in a start in his last 10 starts. The Tigers not only have lost five straight, but 11 of their last 13 games. Matt Boyd will start today with a 3.61 ERA and 1.109 WHIP. Boyd has been one of their better starters, however he's allowed nine runs over his last 10 innings of work. I'm a bit surprised that we get the Rangers today at just a pick price considering they are playing well while the Tigers are not. Plus we get the better starter by far. This is my June Game of the Month, play Texas. |
06-25-19 | Braves v. Cubs -103 | 3-2 | Loss | -103 | 9 h 23 m | Show
The Braves and Cubs began a four-game set yesterday and the Cubs took game one, 8-3. The Braves are in 1st place in the NL East with a 46-33 record, 5 1/2 games ahead of 2nd place Philadelphia. Max Fried starts today for the Braves with a 8-3 record in his 15 starts. Fried has a 4.11 ERA and 1.346 WHIP. Fried has been inconsistent of late, allowing five runs in two of his last four starts and 2 and 3 runs in the other two starts. Meanwhile, the Cubs have won two straight and four of the last six. Adbert Alzolay will make his first start of the season today as he's been added to what is now a 6-man rotation. Alzolay has appeared in relief, going four inning and not allowing a hit until a walk and home run knocked him from the game. The Cubs expect big things from Alzolay as I do today. I'm taking Chicago. |
06-25-19 | Rangers -139 v. Tigers | Top | 5-3 | Win | 100 | 8 h 28 m | Show |
The Texas Rangers are quietly in 2nd place in the AL West with a 42-36 record. yes, they are still 6.5-games back of the Astros, but they are in it for the Wild Card at this point with a long way to go. The Rangers have won two straight games as they begin this series with the Tigers. Jesse Chavez starts his fifth game today with no record. The Rangers are taking a page from the Rays playbook by starting a relief pitcher. Chavez will go one, maybe two innings at most today. Chavez has yet to allow a run in any of his four starts and the Rangers are 3-1 when they have done this experiment. Obviously the ball gets turned over to the bullpen early. The pen has a 12-6 record this year and a 4.36 ERA. The Tigers have now lost four straight and eight of their last nine games. Jordan Zimmermann starts today. Zimmermann got his first start since April with his last start on June 19th. Zimmerman has a lofty 6.03 ERA and allowed three runs over five innings in his return. I will be on the Rangers here today. The Tigers are struggling and Zimmermann has not been an answer. Take Texas. |
06-24-19 | White Sox v. Red Sox UNDER 9 | 5-6 | Loss | -109 | 8 h 25 m | Show
Two teams with losing streaks enter Monday's opening game of their series as the Red Sox host the White Sox. Boston lost the last two games of their three-game series to the Blue Jays, including Sunday's 1-6 setbacks. Eduardo Rodriguez starts today for Boston. Rodriguez is 8-4 in his 15 starts with a 4.71 ERA. While Rodriguez has a nice record, he's been inconsistent on his runs as he allows four or more one game and then one or two the next. The White Sox lost at Texas on Sunday, 4-7. They will turn to their Ace today to try and get back to winning ways. Lucas Giolito is 10-2 but got hit hard in his last outing by allowing six runs over 4 1/3 innings. That was by far his worst outing of the season. I look for Giolito to rebound today and both of these teams to struggle scoring runs. I'm taking the UNDER. |
06-23-19 | Astros v. Yankees +116 | 9-4 | Loss | -100 | 4 h 49 m | Show
Two streaking teams meet today in the Bronx, as the Astros bring a 7-game losing streak to face the Yankees with a 8-game win streak. The Yankees are putting distance between themselves in the AL East and 2nd place Tampa. J.A. Happ is once against winning games for this team with a 7-3 record in his 15 starts. The Yankees are 11-4 in those 15 games. Happ's ERA could be better at 4.59, but when you play on a hitting machine like the Yankees, you don't have to be perfect. Happ has held his last three opponents to two runs or less though. A 7-game losing streak by the Astros has seen their one time insurmountable AL West lead shrink to 7-games over the A's. Justin Verlander is their best pitcher and will start today. Verlander is 9-3 with a 2.68 ERA on the season. However, even he's been hit with this losing streak bug. Verlander lost last time out to the Reds, 3-4 and the Astros have now lost his last two starts. The Yankees are a dog here at home with a decent pitcher on the mound against a struggling team. That's a dog I think is very live. Play the Yankees. |
06-23-19 | Marlins +165 v. Phillies | 6-4 | Win | 165 | 3 h 49 m | Show
The Marlins bring a modest three-game win streak into today's game, while their host, the Philadelphia Phillies, have a 6-game losing streak. The Marlins can pull off the sweep of the Phillies with a win today. They will look to Jordan Yamamoto to do just that. Yamamoto is 2-0 in his only two starts and has been excellent. He's allowed no runs in either start (14 total inningss) with just four walks and 12 KO's. The struggling Phillies have now dropped 5.5 games back of the NL East leading Braves. Zach Eflin will try and halt their losing streak. Eflin is 6-7 in his 14 starts with a 2.83 ERA and 1.163 WHIP. Eflin has been very good, but has also received thin run support. Yamamoto is a big dog here and I'm going to take another change on a pitcher that has been great in his two starts. Take Miami. |
06-22-19 | Braves v. Nationals -113 | Top | 13-9 | Loss | -113 | 7 h 54 m | Show |
The Washington Nationals look for their sixth straight win today as they host the Braves. After sweeping the Phillies, the Nat have taken game one of this series with the Braves. Anibal Sanchez starts today for the Nats. Sanchez is only 3-6 on the season, but has a nice 3.84 ERA. Sanchez has been excellent of late, with the Nats winning his last five starts. In those starts, Sanchez has allowed two runs or fewer. After an 8-game win streak, the Braves have cooled a bit, going 2-3 their last five games. Mike Foltynewicz will toe the rubber today for the Braves. Foltynewicz is 2-5 on the season with a 5.53 ERA. I like the Nats here today, especially with a hot Sanchez on the hill. Take Washington. |
06-22-19 | Reds +111 v. Brewers | 5-6 | Loss | -100 | 4 h 50 m | Show
The Cincinnati Reds increased their win streak to six-games with another win over the Brewers on Friday, 11-7. It was their second straight win over the Brewers after having swept Houston in the series before this. Today they start one of their best in Luis Castillo. Castillo is 7-1 on the season with a nifty 2.36 ERA and 1.106 WHIP. Castillo has allowed two runs or fewer in each of his last four starts. The Brewers have been slumping, losing five straight and seven of their last eight games. Jhoulys Chasin starts today with a 3-8 record in his 13 starts and a 5.60 ERA. Chacin has been very inconsistent, pitching well at times and then getting hit hard for a few games. Today we get the red-hot Reds as a dog with their best pitcher on the hill. That's the kind of combo I like. Take Cincinnati. |
06-22-19 | Mets +121 v. Cubs | 10-2 | Win | 121 | 2 h 60 m | Show
The NL Central leading Cubs have split their first two games with the Mets, winning the opener and then losing on Friday, 4-5. The Cubs are now 41-34 and 1-game ahead of the Brewers. Jose Quintana will start today for the Cubbies. Quintana is just 4-6 on the season with a 4.07 ERA and 1.305 WHIP. Quintana gave up 8-runs in his opening game of the season. Since that start, he has allowed three runs or fewer in 12 of his 13 games including four straight. The Mets are in next to last in the NL East. The Mets have lost six of their last eight games. Zack Wheeler will toe the rubber today for New York. Wheeler has a 5-5 record in 15 starts with a 4.94 ERA and 1.331 WHIP. Wheeler has allowed nine runs over his last 10 2/3 innings. He's also not allowed UNDER three runs in his last seven starts. Cubs are the much better team and Quintana is a better starter than he appears on paper. Take Chicago. |
06-21-19 | Angels -107 v. Cardinals | Top | 1-5 | Loss | -107 | 8 h 21 m | Show |
Late action on Friday has the Angels playing at the Cardinals in a Interleague contest. The Angels made it back to .500 by winning seven of their last 10 games. The Angels will start Griffin Canning today who is 2-3 on the season with a 3.93 ERA and 0.993 WHIP. Canning has kept the Angels in every one of his nine starts, as as he has not allowed more than four runs in any single outing. The Cardinals are 38-36 on the season but trail both the Cubs and the Brewers in the NL Central. The Redbirds lost on Thursday and split their series with the Marlins. They will turn to Michael Wacha tonight. Wacha is 4-3 on the season with a 5.40 ERA and 1.658 ERA. Unlike Canning, Wacha has a very high WHIP and a much higher ERA. Wacha has been hit hard in two of his last three outings, allowing six runs each in two of those starts. This game is basically a pickem here tonight, but the Angels have been hot and have the more consistent starter on the hill. Take LA Angels. |
06-20-19 | Reds +125 v. Brewers | Top | 7-1 | Win | 125 | 9 h 14 m | Show |
The Cincinnati Reds bring a 4-game win streak into today's contest at Milwaukeee. The Reds just swept the first-place Houston Astros on their Texas swing. The Reds will look to Tanner Roark to continue the winning today. Roark is 4-6 in his 14 starts with a 3.63 ERA and 1.386 WHIP. Roark is coming off a fine start vs the Rangers where he allowed just two runs over seven innings. Roark has been good all year, allowing over three runs just three times in 14 starts (all 4 runs). Meanwhile, the Brewers have lost three straight and five of their last six. The Brewers will turn to Jimmy Nelson today. Nelson only has two starts and has allowed nine runs over seven innings with six walks. Yet, here is Nelson a favorite tonight. I see a lot of value in the dog here as the Brewers are slumping and they have a very unproven starter on the hill. Take the Reds. |
06-20-19 | Indians v. Rangers +105 | 2-4 | Win | 105 | 3 h 9 m | Show
Early game on the schedule has the Indians playing at the Rangers. It hasn't been a bad year for the Indians, but right now they are looking at a Wild-Card run since they trail the AL Central leading Twins by nine-games. Shane Bieber starts today for the Indians with a 6-2 record and 3.90 ERA. It's been hit or miss for Bieber, who has allowed two runs twice in his last four games and then five and six runs in the other two games. The Rangers have an almost identical record at 39-35 on the season and they trail first place Houston by about nine-games too. That means these two clubs will be duking it out the rest of the way for one of the two Wild Card spots. Mike Minor starts today with a 6-4 record with a 2.63 ERA. Minor has not allowed more than three runs in any start but one time in 15 outings. Minor has been good and these teams are pretty evenly matched. I'll take the home team here with the better starter. Play Texas. |

06-19-19 | Rockies v. Diamondbacks -140 | 6-4 | Loss | -140 | 12 h 57 m | Show
Colorado and Arizona are tied in wins with 38 each this season. The D'backs have two more losses, so that puts them one-game back of the Rockies. Colorado took game one of this series on Tuesday, 8-1. They will start Jon Gray tonight. Gray is 6-5 in his 14 starts with a 4.39 ERA and 1.333 WHIP. The Rockies have won four of the last five starts for Gray. The Padres are 12 games back of the Dodgers for the NL lead, so really they look to be fighting for a Wildcard spot at this point. The D'backs will start their Ace in Zack Greinke tonight. Greinke is 8-2 in his 15 starts with a 2.65 ERA and 0.884 WHIP. Grienke has been on top of his game of late too, allowing no runs over his last 13 1/3 innings. Since his opening game, Grienke has allowed more than three runs in a games once (4 runs). I like the D'backs tonight to take game two here with their best on the mound. Play Arizona. |
06-19-19 | White Sox +135 v. Cubs | Top | 3-7 | Loss | -100 | 18 h 24 m | Show |
The Crosstown Classic resumes as the White Sox take the highway North to take on the Cubbies here tonight. The White Sox took the opener on Tuesday evening, 3-1. That snapped a 2-game losing streak for the Sox and increased the Cubs losing streak to two games. One of the best pitchers in baseball goes tonight for the White Sox in Lucas Giolito. Giolito is 10-1 in his 13 starts with a nifty 2.22 ERA and 0.951 WHIP. Giolito has allowed just one run over his last three starts (21 innings) with six walks and 26 KO's. Jon Lester will start for the Cubs. Lester has had an up and down season, more down lately. Lester got shelled last time out, allowing six runs over five innings. He's now allowed 10 runs over his last 11 innings of work. I'm a little stunned that arguably the best pitcher in baseball is a 1.34 dog to a pitcher that is struggling. I'll take it though. Play the White Sox. |
06-18-19 | Brewers -150 v. Padres | 1-4 | Loss | -150 | 12 h 41 m | Show
The Milwaukee Brewers hold a 1/2 game lead over the Cubs in the NL Central. The Brewers have lost three of their last four games including last night to the Padres, 0-2. They will turn to Brandon Woodruff tonight. Woodruff has been one of their best this year with a 8-1 record in his 14 starts. Woodruff has a 3.87 ERA and 1.156 WHIP. Meanwhile, the Padres are 12-games back of the NL West leading Dodgers and could get back to .500 with a win tonight. Prospect Logan Allen is being called up to start for the Padres tonight. Allen is listed as the Padres No 5 prospect and was dealt to San Diego in a trade that send Craig Kimbrel to the Red Sox. Allen had a 5.15 ERA at Triple-A El Paso this season in 57 2/3 innings. I'm going to take the Brewers here tonight to rebound against a pitcher making his first major league start. Play Milwaukee. |
06-18-19 | Astros -1.5 v. Reds | 3-4 | Loss | -103 | 9 h 6 m | Show
The Astros bring a two-game losing streak into tonight's contest while the Reds bring a two-game win streak. Houston lost to the Reds last night, 2-3 and on Sunday to Toronto, 0-12. Tonight they turn to Justin Verlander who is 9-2 in his 15 games this season. Verlander has 13 quality starts to go along with his 2.50 ERA and 0.735 WHIP. Verlander has allowed over three runs in a game just twice in his 14 starts and that was four runs. The Reds will send Anthony Desclafani to the hill. Desclafani is 3-3 in his 13 starts with just 3 quality starts. In addition, Desclafani has a 4.43 ERA and 1.323 WHIP. The Astros are too good to lose three straight, especially with their ACE on the mound tonight. I'm taking the Astros and laying 1.5 runs. Play Houston -1.5 runs. |
06-18-19 | Mets v. Braves +111 | Top | 10-2 | Loss | -100 | 10 h 10 m | Show |
The Braves have won two straight coming into this game with the Mets. The Braves scored 15 runs, a season high on Sunday and then turned around and scored 12 runs on Monday over the Mets. The Mets will start Julio Teheran in this contest. Teheran is 5-4 in his 15 games with a 2.92 ERA and 1.188 WHIP. Teheran has been red-hot of late, allowing one run or no runs in each of his last eight start. That's four total runs in those eight starts. The Mets have lost two straight and four of their last five. The Mets start Jacob deGrom here tonight. deGrom is only 3-6 in his 14 starts with a 3.37 ERA and 1.125 WHIP. But more important, the Mets are 4-10 in his starts this year. Sure, deGrom is one of the best pitchers in baseball, but right now Teheran is just as good if not better and he's playing on a much better team that is pounding the ball right now. Somehow Teheran and the Braves are a home dog here and that's too much for me to pass on. Play the Braves. |
06-17-19 | Mets v. Braves -146 | Top | 3-12 | Win | 100 | 18 h 44 m | Show |
The New York Mets dropped to 34-37 with their loss on Sunday to the Cardinals, 3-4. Meanwhile, the Atlanta Braves increased to 42-30 with a 15-1 blowout of the Phillies on Sunday. It was the most runs the Braves have scored thus far in any game this season. The Braves increased their lead to 1.5 games over the Phillies for the NL Central lead while the Mets are in 3rd place, 6 1/2 games back. Zack Wheeler will start today for the Mets. Wheeler is 5-4 in his 14 starts with a 4.87 ERA and 1.286 WHIP. Wheeler gave up nine runs in his 4 2/3 inning start last timer out at the Yankees. The Braves will start Mike Soroka. Soroka is 7-1 this season with a nifty 1.92 ERA and 0.967 WHIP. Soroka had his worst start of the season last time out, allowing five runs over 5-innings to the Pirates. Prior to that start, Soroka had allowed one run or none in nine of his 10 starts. I like the Braves here today and Soroka to rebound with another great start. Play the Braves. |
06-17-19 | Astros v. Reds UNDER 8.5 | 2-3 | Win | 100 | 18 h 33 m | Show
The Cincinnati Red exploded on Sunday to beat the Texas Rangers, 11-3. It was a rare OVER for the Reds who have gone under in 11 straight prior to Sunday's OVER. Still, this is a very good UNDER team and that's what I'm looking at here today as they faced one of the best staffs in baseball. The Astros did get shelled on Sunday by the Blue Jays, 0-12. A rare home blowout for the 1st place Astros. Houston will turn to Wade Miley today. Miley is 6-3 in 14 starts with a very good 3.14 ERA and 1.158 WHIP. Miley held the Orioles to no runs over six innings in his last start. Miley has also allowed three runs or fewer in every start this year but one (4 runs). The Reds start their Ace, Luis Castillo. Castillo is 6-1 in his 14 starts with a 2.31 ERA. Castillo has allowed one run in each of his last two starts. Two excellent starters here today along with a very good UNDER Reds team. I'm taking this one UNDER. |
06-16-19 | Padres v. Rockies -147 | 14-13 | Loss | -147 | 5 h 38 m | Show
NL West matchup here has the San Diego Padres, Arizona and the Rockies grouped together for what looks like a Wild Card race at this point. The Dodgers are way out in front with 47 wins while the Padres have 34 and the Rockies 37. San Diego has dropped two of the first three in this series and now has lost six of their last seven overall. The Padres will start Nick Margevicius today. Margevicius is 2-6 in his 11 starts with a 5.02 ERA and 1.384 WHIP. Margevicius doesn't go long into games, just three to five innings. The Rocks will start Peter Lambert for just his third start. Lambert has been excellent in his two prior starts, going five and seven innings and allowing just one run in each game. Lambert has a 1.50 ERA and 0.833 WHIP thus far. Rockies are the better team at this juncture and Lambert proving he deserves a starting role. Take Colorado. |
06-16-19 | Rangers v. Reds UNDER 9 | Top | 3-11 | Loss | -110 | 13 h 16 m | Show |
The Rangers ran their win streak to 2-games with a 4-3 win over the Reds on Saturday. The Reds have been a very good under team this year, now a 23-43-2 O/U on the season. The Reds have seen their last 11 games go under the total. Sonny Gray will start today for the Reds with a 2-5 record but a fairly good 3.51 ERA. Gray has seen his last two games go under the total as he's allowed three and two runs in those two games. The Rangers will counter with Ariel Juarado, who is 3-1 on the season with a 3.77 ERA and 1.361 WHIP. Juarado has only five starts, but has not allowed more than three runs in any of hist last four. I'm sticking with the UNDER here early on Sunday. The Reds have been a great under team and I see that continuing here today. PLAY the UNDER. |
06-15-19 | Yankees -150 v. White Sox | Top | 8-4 | Win | 100 | 9 h 59 m | Show |
My biggest play on Friday was against these Yankees, but it was really because I liked Giolito so much for the Sox and he didn't disappoint with a blowout win for my AL Situational Game of the Year winner. Today, I'm switching over to the visiting Yankees. The Yanks have lost three straight and will turn to Chad Green to stop that streak. Green is 0-0 in his four starts with a 4.76 ERA and 1.587 WHIP. Green is one of those relievers who's asked to start and go a couple of innings, like the Rays do with Stanek. Green has held his last two opponents to no runs, so maybe it will work for the Yankees too. In face, the Yankees have won all four games they have put Green on the mound to start. The White Sox will counter with Reynaldo Lopez. Lopez is 4-6 in his 14 starts with a 6.21 ERA and 1.606 WHIP. Lopez had a decent start last time out, but prior to that one he allowed 19 runs over 13 2/3 innings. I'll take the Yankees here today as they look to their pen to win this one for them. Take NY Yankees. |
06-15-19 | Rangers +106 v. Reds | 4-3 | Win | 106 | 18 h 54 m | Show
The Texas Rangers took Friday's Interleague game with the Cincinnati Reds, 7-1. The win snapped a two-game losing streak for the Rangers. Texas is in 2nd place in the AL West, however they are nine games back of the Astros for the division lead. Mike Minor will get the start today for the Rangers. Minor is 5-4 in his 14 start with a nifty 2.52 ERA and 1.175 WHIP. Minor has been very consistent, allowing three runs or fewer in nine straight starts. In addition, he's allowed just two runs over his last 13 2/3 innings with four walks and 13 KO's. The Reds have now lost five of their last seven games and seven of their last 10. The Reds will send Tanner Roark to the hill tonight. Roark is 4-5 in his 13 starts with just two quality outings. Roark has a 3.74 ERA and 1.411 WHIP. In addition, Roark has allowed eight runs over his last 11 innings of work. I like the visitor here tonight. Take Texas. |
06-15-19 | Brewers v. Giants +102 | 7-8 | Win | 102 | 5 h 24 m | Show
The Giants won their third game in a row on Saturday with their win over the Brewers, 5-3. However, the Giants are still in last in the NL West, some 17 games back of the Dodgers. Today, they will try for four straight wins with Madison Bumgarner on the hill. Bumgarner is 3-6 on the season with a 3.72 ERA and 1.161 WHIP. Bumgarner has pitched well, allowing three runs or fewer in seven of his last eight starts. The Brewers lost for just the second time in their last seven games last night. They will turn to Jimmy Nelson today. Nelson only has one start under his belt this year, going three innings and allowing five runs along with three walks and two KO's. Despite not having started this year, Nelson was installed as a 2.50 favorite in that game and lost to the Marlins. 3-8. Now, here he is again, a road favorite over the Giants. I'm not sold on Nelson who's only start was less than even average. I'll take the Giants here as a small dog. Play San Francisco. |
06-14-19 | Brewers -139 v. Giants | 3-5 | Loss | -139 | 9 h 5 m | Show
Milwaukee holds a one-game lead over the Cubs for the NL Central lead. The 39-29 Brewers start a 3-game series at San Francisco after two games at Houston that they split. Zach Davies will start tonight with a 7-0 record and 2.41 ERA. Davies has been very good for this club as the team is 9-4 in his 13 starts. The Giants will counter with Drew Pomeranz. Pomeranz is 1-6 in his 11 starts with a very poor 7.16 ERA and 1.750 WHIP. This game looks like a no-brainer to me. I'm taking Milwaukee. |
06-14-19 | Yankees v. White Sox -110 | Top | 2-10 | Win | 100 | 21 h 28 m | Show |
The White Sox keep fighting to get back to the .500 mark and they are so close. Tjhe Good news is that they have their Ace and maybe the best pitcher in baseball right now in Lucas Giolito on the hill. What I love about tonight's situation is that I can get this awesome pitcher at just a 1.10 price as of right now. Giolito is 9-1 in his 12 starts this season with a nifty 2.28 ERA and 0.920 WHIP. Giolito has struck out 30 batters in his last three starts (23 innings) with just three walks. This is a huge reason that WHIP is so low. Plus, the White Sox have won his last eight starts with Giolito winning seven of those. I can't give enough accolades to this starter tonight, yet here he is just a 1.10 favorite at home. The reason? Well, he's facing the Yankees. CC Sabathia will start this game for the Yanks. Sabathia is 3-3 in his 10 starts, but he has just two quality starts during that time. Sabathia has allowed 11 runs over his last 16 innings and the Yankees have lost his last two starts. I will be jumping all over the Sox tonight with Giolito on the hill. Play Chicago. |
06-14-19 | Pirates v. Marlins -115 | 11-0 | Loss | -115 | 6 h 60 m | Show
Pittsburgh has fallen on hard times as they bring a 7-game losing streak into tonight's game at Miami. The Pirates just got swept on the road by both Atlanta and Milwaukee. Now the road trip continues to Miami. Steven Brault will start with a 1-0 record in his five starts. Brault has a 4.24 ERA and 1.586 WHIP. His Whip is high because he walks a lot of batters. Miami will start Trevor Richards. Richards is only 3-6, but has a decent 3.31 ERA. Richards has been very good of late, allowing just three runs in his last four starts (24 2/3 innings). The way Richards is pitching and the Pirates are playing, I'm on Miami here tonight. Play Miami. |
06-13-19 | Diamondbacks -116 v. Nationals | Top | 5-0 | Win | 100 | 7 h 52 m | Show |
The Arizona Diamondbacks just trying to stay in the rear view mirror of the NL West leading Dodgers. The D'backs are now 36-33 after yesterday's win over Philly, 2-0. Arizona has now won six of their last seven games. They start their Ace today, Zach Greinke. Greinke is 7-2 in his 14 starts with 12 quality starts under his belt. Greinke has a nice 2.87 ERA and 0.935 WHIP. Greinke has allowed 1 run or fewer in three of his last five games. Washington will counter with Erick Fedde. Fedde is 1-0 in his four starts with just one quality start. Fedde has a 2.70 ERA, but has walked six batters in his last 15 innings. Jury still out on Fedde until he gets more starts under his belt. But with Greinke we know we get a quality starter who has put together lots of quality starts this season. I'm making a big play today on Arizona. |
06-12-19 | Brewers v. Astros UNDER 7.5 | 6-3 | Loss | -109 | 8 h 49 m | Show
This IL game looks to be the matchup of the day as a pair of their respective league's best pitchers will matchup here. The Brewers will start Brandon Woodruff today who is 8-1 with a 3.87 ERA and 1.170 WHIP. Woodruff has allowed three runs or fewer in seven of his last eight start. The Astros will counter with their staff Ace in Justin Verlander. Verlander is 9-2 with a 2.40 ERA and 0.747 WHIP. Verlander is a strikeout machine who also has allowed three runs or fewer in six straight outings. If you like pitching, then this is the game of the day. I'm taking the UNDER and enjoying the show. |
06-12-19 | Reds v. Indians -130 | Top | 7-2 | Loss | -130 | 3 h 47 m | Show |
Another rivalry game here today as the NL's Cincinnati Reds take on the AL's Cleveland Indians. The Reds are in last place in the NL Central with a 29-36 record. They will look to Anthony Desclafini today. Desclafini is 2-3 in his 12 starts with a 4.70 ERA and 1.348 WHIP. Desclafini had one of his best starts last time out, going 5-innings with just one earned run allowed. However, Desclafini has not received any run support, getting 2 runs or less in three of his last four starts. The Indians are in 2nd place in the AL Central, but they trail Minnesota by 10 1/2 games. They will start Zach Plesac today with a 1-1 record in his three starts. Pleasac returned to the starting lineup in late May and has pitched very well with a 1.89 ERA and 0.879 WHIP. Plesac looks very good and we only have a small line to fade here today. I'm taking the Indians early today. |
06-11-19 | Pirates +136 v. Braves | 5-7 | Loss | -100 | 7 h 59 m | Show
The Pittsburgh Pirates bring a 4-game losing streak into tonight's contest at Atlanta. The Bucs have fallen to 30-25 with this losing streak. They will turn to Chris Archer to break that streak tonight. Archer is 3-5 in his 10 starts with a 5.20 ERA and 1.453 WHIP. However, Archer is coming off his best start of the season where he went six innings vs these Braves, allowed six hits and just one run. The Braves have won four straight as they look for their fifth here tonight. The Braves will send Mike Foltynewicz to the hill. Foltynewicz has a 1-5 record with a 5.89 ERA and 1.263 WHIP. Foltynewicz faced these Bucs and Archer in his last start, going six innings and allowing three runs as he suffered the loss 1-6. Rematch here tonight of the matchup last Thursday and I look for the same outcome as last time. Take Pittsburgh as a nice dog. |
06-11-19 | A's v. Rays -150 | Top | 4-3 | Loss | -150 | 7 h 48 m | Show |
Tampa Bay has one of the best records in baseball at 41-24. Tonight they face the 33-34 Oakland A's. The Rays will do their relief pitcher starting as Ryan Stankek will once again toe the rubber. Stankek has 18 starts, all two innings or fewer. Stankek has a 1.84 ERA and 0.955 WHIP. The Rays are also 12-6 in the game Stanek has started. The A's will counter with Michael Fiers. Fiers has a 5-3 record, but a bit high on the ERA of 4.78. Fiers is a solid starter, but I'm taking the Rays here tonight and their starting pitcher by relieve. Play Tampa Bay. |
06-11-19 | Mets +182 v. Yankees | 10-4 | Win | 182 | 7 h 43 m | Show
The Mets and Yankees renew their Subway series here today in the Bronx. The Mets bring a 2-game win streak into tonight's rivalry while the Yankees carry a one-game win streak. The Mets will start Jason Vargas tonight. Vargas is 2-3 on the season with a very respectable 2.84 ERA and 1.286 WHIP. Vargas has allowed just two total runs over his last three starts (21 innings) including a complete game shut-out of the Giants last time out. James Paxton will toe the rubber tonight for the Yankees. Paxton is 3-2 in his nine starts with a 3.11 ERA. Paxton is coming off a loss at Toronto, allowing four runs over 4 2/3 innings of work. Not only do we get the hotter pitcher tonight in game 2, but we get a huge dog price too. Take the Mets tonight. |
06-09-19 | Cardinals v. Cubs -159 | Top | 1-5 | Win | 100 | 9 h 48 m | Show |
The Cubs staked St Louis to four runs in the top of the first inning yesterday and shut them down after that, rallying for nine unanswered runs for the win. It was the Cubs 2nd win in a row over the Cardinals and the team's fifth win in the last six games. Today, they send Kyle Hendricks to the hill. Hendricks is 6-4 in his 12 starts with a 3.16 ERA and 1.104 WHIP. Hendricks has been a solid pitcher with the team winning six of his last seven starts. That coming after Hendricks started the season losing his first three games and four of his first five. The Cardinals dropped to 31-31 on the season with the loss yesterday and can fall under .500 with another today. Adam Wainwright will try to keep that from happening today. Wainwright is 5-5 in his 12 starts with a 4.21 ERA and 1.372 WHIP. Wainwright had his best start of the season last time out against these Cubs, allowing no runs and just two hits over eight innings. Can he do it back-to-back? I don't think so. I look for the Cubs to take to sweep this series here today at home. Play Chicago. |
06-08-19 | Cardinals v. Cubs +104 | 4-9 | Win | 104 | 9 h 59 m | Show
The Chicago Cubs took game one of this series with their rival St Louis Cardinals, 3-1 on Friday. The win was their fourth in the last five games. Today, they start veteran Jon Lester. Lester is 4-4 in his 11 starts with a respectable 3.32 ERA and 1.307 WHIP. Lester had an excellent start last time out, going seven strong innings with just four hits and one run to the Angels. The Cardinals are in 3rd place in the NL Central with a 31-30 record. Jack Flaherty will start today with a 4-3 record in his 12 starts. Flaherty has a 3.76 ERA and 1.144 WHIP. These pitchers are very evenly matched here today, but I give the edge to the home club. I'm taking the Cubs at an excellent price. Play Chicago. |
06-08-19 | White Sox -129 v. Royals | Top | 2-0 | Win | 100 | 14 h 4 m | Show |
The White Sox losing streak was extended to 3-games with the loss to the Royals on Friday night, 4-6. The Royals snapped their 6-game losing streak with the win. The Sox will start their Ace of the staff today in Lucas Giolito. Giolito is 8-1 in his 11 starts with a 2.54 ERA and 0.951 WHIP. Giolio has been excellent, allowing three runs or fewer in each of his last eight starts. In fact, in six of those eight he allowed one or no runs. The Royals will counter with Brad Keller who is 3-7 in his 13 starts. Keller has a 4.50 ERA with a 1.449 WHIP. Keller has not been near as successful as Gioloto has been this season and with that I expect the White Sox to take game 2 here on Saturday. Play Chicago White Sox. |
06-07-19 | White Sox +112 v. Royals | 4-6 | Loss | -100 | 9 h 4 m | Show
Two teams both in need of a win meet here today as the Royals host the White Sox to start their series. The Sox come in with a 2-game losing streak while the Royals are riding a 6-game losing streak. The Royals have one of the worst records in baseball this year at just 19-43. Homer Bailey will start today for the Royals with a 4-6 record and 6.05 WHIP. The Royals have lost Bailey's last four starts. The White Sox will counter with Ivan Nova who is 3-5 on the season with a 6.24 ERA and 1.643 WHIP. However, Nova has a couple of decent starts to build on, going 12 innings and allowing just four earned runs. Neither pitcher all that great, but the Royals aren't the worst team in baseball for no reason. Take Chicago here today. |
06-07-19 | Pirates v. Brewers -1.5 | 4-10 | Win | 100 | 20 h 11 m | Show
The Brewers snapped that two game losing streak to the Marlins with a nice comeback win on Thursday, 5-1. The Pirates beat the Braves on Thursday, 6-1 and have now won two-straight games and are just one game from the .500 mark. Rookie Davis makes his first start for the Pirates. Davis missed all of last year with a hip problem. The 6-foot-5, 255 lb Davis is a big presence on the mound. He'll need all that intimidation today. He will have to face the best pitcher so far this year for the Brewers in Brandon Woodruff. Woodruff is 7-1 in his 12 starts with a 3.82 ERA and 1.200 WHIP. Woodruff had a tough start last time out, allowing six runs over just four innings. However, prior to that he allowed five total runs in his previous five starts. Davis still has too many question marks to back here today. Instead, I'll lay the 1.5 runs with the Brewers best in Woodruff. Play Milwaukee -1.5 Runs. |
06-06-19 | Braves -117 v. Pirates | 1-6 | Loss | -117 | 2 h 13 m | Show
The Braves and Pirates have split the first two games of this series with the rubber game today. The Braves lost last night 4-7 but won on Tuesday, 12-5. Mike Foltynewicz today. Foltynewicz is having a down season with a 1-4 record and 6.10 ERA this season. Folty has shown flashes of his 2018 brilliance though. The Pirates snapped a three-game losing streak with yesterday's win. The Pirates have not put back-to-back wins together since Mid-May! Chris Archer will try and change that today for the Bucs. Archer is 2-5 on the season with a 5.66 ERA and 1.468 WHIP. Archer, like Folty, has also struggled this year as he's allowed four runs or more in four of his last five starts. I like the Braves here early on Thursday. Take Atlanta. |
06-05-19 | Yankees -1.5 v. Blue Jays | 7-11 | Loss | -128 | 9 h 21 m | Show
The Yankees look to snap a 2-game losing streak today against Toronto. The Yankees lost game one yesterday, 3-4. Today they send James Paxton to the hill. Paxton is 3-2 in his eight starts with a nifty 2.81 ERA and 1.128 WHIP. Paxton has been red-hot, allowing no earned runs in four of his last five starts (all team wins). The Blues Jays win on Tuesday snapped a six game losing streak as Toronto is now 22-38 and in dead last in the AL East. The Jays will send Trent Thornton to the hill today. Thornton is 1-4 in his 12 starts with a 4.52 ERA and 1.340 WHIP. Paxton has been so perfect of late that it's hard not to take him here today. But he's laying a big price, so I'm going to lay the 1.5 runs. Play New York -1.5 Runs. |
06-04-19 | Dodgers -1.5 v. Diamondbacks | 9-0 | Win | 100 | 10 h 12 m | Show
While the other two NL divisions both have close races, the NL West is being dominated by the LA Dodgers. The Dodgers have opened up a 9 1/2 game lead in the West over the Rockies with the Diamondbacks now 12 games back. The Dodgers have the best record in baseball and have won six straight games. Hyun-Jin Ryu is having a Cy Young type of year for the Dodgers with a 8-1 record, 1.48 ERA and 0.808 WHIP. Ryu has been amazing this year, allowing no runs in four of his last five starts. The D'backs will counter today with Taylor Clarke. Clarke is 1-1 in his three starts with a 6.28 ERA and 1.535 WHIP. Hard to pass on Ryu here today against Clarke. But I'm going to have to lay the 1.5 runs. Take Los Angeles -1.5 Runs. |

06-04-19 | Reds -120 v. Cardinals | 4-1 | Win | 100 | 10 h 7 m | Show
The St Louis Cardinals have won four straight games and now trail first place Milwaukee by just three games in the NL Central. The Reds sit in last place in the division, however they are just 6 1/2 games back in what is the closest division race in the NL. The Reds will start their Ace today in Luis Castillo. Castillo is 5-1 in his 12 starts this season with a 2.45 ERA and 1.105 WHIP. Castillo has the most wins on the staff and the best ERA by far. St Louis will give Genesis Cabrera his second start of the season. In his first, he went just 3 2/3 innings, allowed five hits and five runs and took the loos by the Phillies. The Reds are a small road favorite here today, but that's fine as their is a big difference in pitching today. I like the Reds with their Ace on the hill. Play Cincinnati. |

06-04-19 | Twins +129 v. Indians | Top | 2-5 | Loss | -100 | 23 h 49 m | Show |
The Minnesota Twins are running away with the AL Central, now 11 1/2 games ahead of the White Sox and the Indians. The Twins have won three straight games and average 6.0 runs per game. Devin Smeltzer makes just his second start of the season today. Smeltzer went six innings in his only previous outing, allowing three hits and no runs. He also struck out seven and walked none. The Indians can't afford to lose these games or they will be out of both the division and Wildcard races. Shane Bieber will toe the rubber today for the Tribe. Bieber is 4-2 in his 11 starts with a 3.65 ERA and 1.080 WHIP. Bieber did get hit hard in his last start at Boston, allowing eight hits and six runs over five innings. Even though Smeltzer has only one start, that was an excellent one and I am going to take him again here today. Play Minnesota. |

06-03-19 | Angels v. Cubs -1.5 | Top | 1-8 | Win | 130 | 6 h 11 m | Show |
Very short schedule here on the Monday baseball slate with just four games. I'm going to look at this IL contest between the Angels and the Cubs. The Angels won on Sunday big, beating the Mariners 13-3. Meanwhile, the Cubs lost a tough one on the road to the Cardinals, 1-2. The Angels switched pitchers overnight from Cahill to Cam Bedrosian. Bedrosian is 0-1 in his four starts with a 4.50 ERA and 1.250 WHIP. The Angels pull a page from the Rays playbook today by starting a relief pitcher. Bedrosian won't go more than one inning and in his last two starts he's allowed a run in that inning. The Cubs will send Jon Lester to the hill. Lester is jsut 3-4 in his 10 starts, but has a 3.59 ERA and 1.386 WHIP. Lester got hit hard his last start, but I look for the veteran to rebound here today. Plus the Angels will lose their DH in this one. Take the Cubbies on the Run Line. |

06-02-19 | Red Sox v. Yankees +110 | Top | 8-5 | Loss | -100 | 8 h 37 m | Show |
Sunday Night action here on Sunday has two old rivals set to continue their battle. The Yankees are in first place in the AL East with a 28-19 record, 2 1/2 games ahead of Tampa Bay and 9 1/2 ahead of the Red Sox. The Sox are just .500 on the season at 29-29 and have now lost four straight games. David Prices starts for the Red Sox with a 2-2 mark on the season and a 2.83 ERA and 1.03 WHIP. The Yankees will counter with CC Sabathia. Sabathia is 3-1 this season and has a 3.48 ERA with 1.26 WHIP. Both these pitchers are veterans with lots of experience against the other. However, it's no doubt the Yankees are the better team right now. I'm taking the Yankees tonight. |
06-02-19 | Indians v. White Sox -110 | 0-2 | Win | 100 | 3 h 43 m | Show
The Cleveland Indians and Chicago White Sox had better get it in gear or the AL Central will be out of their reach by the All Star Game. The Minnesota Twins lead the Indians by 10 1/2 games and the White Sox by 11 1/2 games. The Indians will start Zach Plesac today. Plesac has one start and that was at Boston where he went 5 1/3 innings and allowed four hits and one run. The Sox will counter with Lucas Giolito who is 7-1 on the season with a 2.85 ERA and 0.98 WHIP. Plesac might be the real deal, but one start doesn't tell us a lot. However, Giolito is the real deal as he's been the best starter for the Sox this year. I'm taking Chicago here on Sunday. |

06-01-19 | Astros -150 v. A's | Top | 5-1 | Win | 100 | 10 h 22 m | Show |
Houston improved to 38-20 with their win on Friday over the A's. The Astros are running away with the AL West as the next team is Oakland with a 29-28 record. Today's starter, Justin Verlander, has been as hot as any pitcher and right now a leading candidate for the AL Cy Young. Verlander is 9-2 in his 12 starts with 10 quality starts. Verlander has a 2.38 ERA and 0.744 WHIP. In addition, Verlander has allowed five earned runs over his last four starts (29 innings) with just five walks and 35 KO's. The Oakland A's have lost three straight games and will have a tough time today against the Astros. The A's will start Brett Anderson who has pitched well with a 6-3 record in his 11 starts with a 3.86 ERA. The only reason the line is as reasonable on the Astros as it is, is because of Anderson for the A's. Still, the Astros with Verlander is a lethal combination. Take Houston. |

06-01-19 | Royals v. Rangers OVER 10.5 | 2-6 | Loss | -113 | 4 h 20 m | Show
Both these teams are looking for better results after poor starts. The Royals are just 19-38 on the season while the Rangers are a bit better at 28-27. The problem with both clubs has been pitching, as the Royals allow an average of 5.2 runs per game and the Rangers allow 5.3 runs per outing. The Royals start Homer Bailey today. Bailey is one of those struggling hurlers with a 4-5 record in his 11 starts and a 5.79 ERA and 1.481 WHIP. Bailey has allowed 11 runs over his last 10 1/3 innings of work with seven walks. The Rangers turn to Lance Lynn. Lynn is 6-4 on the season with a 4.65 ERA and 1.389 WHIP. Lynn has been decent on the season but is coming off a loss at Seattle where he allowed three runs over six innings. Can't put much trust in either of these pitching staffs. I'm going with the OVER here today. |
06-01-19 | Indians v. White Sox OVER 10 | 5-2 | Loss | -130 | 2 h 26 m | Show
The Indians look to snap a 2-game losing streak today at Chicago. The Indians lost to the White Sox both on Thursday and Friday by a combined 5-16 margin. The Indians have also gone over in five of their last six games, mainly because of poor pitching. Jefry Rodriguez starts today for the Tribe. Rodriguez is 1-5 with a 4.99 ERA and 1.487 WHIP on the season. Rodriguez has allowed 14 runs over his last 15 innings with eight walks. Meanwhile, the White Sox have won five-straight games. They will start Ivan Nova today. Nova is 3-4 in his 11 starts with a 6.52 ERA and 1.719 WHIP. Both these pitchers today have struggled and I expect a high scoring game. Play the OVER. |
05-31-19 | Blue Jays v. Rockies OVER 11.5 | 6-13 | Win | 100 | 8 h 33 m | Show
It's not unusual to see the Colorado Rockies as a good over team. This season the Rockies are 30-22-3 O/U/P. They average 5.4 runs per game and allow 5.3 runs per game. The Toronto Blue Jays have had their issues with pitching, allowing 4.7 runs per game and now make a rare trip to play in the high altitude of Coors Stadium in Denver. Edwin Jackson will start for the Jays with a 0-2 record in his three starts and a high 9.00 ERA and 1.643 WHIP. Jackson has allowed 7, 5 and 2 earned runs in his three starts. In fact, his last two starts the opposing teams have totaled 31 runs. The Rockies will start German Marquez today. Marquez is 5-2 in his 12 starts with a 3.56 ERA and 1.123 WHIP. At home those numbers go up to 5.40 ERA and 1.600 in six starts. Jays will find Coors a tough place, especially with a struggling Jackson on the hill. Expect a lot of scoring in this one tonight. Play OVER. |
05-31-19 | Twins v. Rays -125 | 5-3 | Loss | -125 | 6 h 3 m | Show
Tampa Bay brings a 6-game win streak into today's contest with the Twins. Both clubs are having fine seasons thus far with Minnesota at 37-18 and the Rays at 35-19. The Twins in first place in the AL Central and really are looking to run away with this division as the nearest team are the Indians at 28-28. Jose Berrios starts today with a 7-2 mark in his 11 starts with a 3.20 ERA and 1.151 WHIP. The Rays have one of the best pitching staffs in baseball and during the last nine games (8-1 record) they have allowed three runs or less in each contest. Ryan Stanek gets the start today and as usual, he'll go one or two innings at most. The Rays are 11-4 when they start Stanek and the hard throwing righty has allowed a run just twice in his 15 starts. I like this system they use to start Stanek as it's worked all season long. Take Tampa Bay here on Friday. |

05-31-19 | Brewers -115 v. Pirates | Top | 4-9 | Loss | -115 | 9 h 5 m | Show |
Milwaukee took game one of this series with the Pirates on Thursday, 11-5. It was the third win in four nights for the NL Central leading Brewers. The NL Central has all five teams with at least 26 wins, so the Brewers can't let their guard down in this division. Today, they start Jhoulys Chacin. Chacin is just 3-6 on the season with a 4.88 ERA and 1.374 WHIP. Chacin has lost three straight games and looks to snap his personal losing streak tonight. Chacin hasn't pitched poorly, allowing eight earned runs over his last three starts (16 innings). Meanwhile, the Pirates have lost eight of their last 11 games to fall to 27-28. They will counter with Chris Archer. Archer is 1-5 in his eight starts and the team is just 1-7 in his starts. Archer has a 5.75 ERA and 1.549 WHIP. Walks have been a big issue for Archer with 12 free passes in his last 13 2/3 innings. Both these pitchers have had their struggles, but the Brewers are the better team with the better pitcher. I like the Brewers a lot here tonight. Play Milwaukee. |
05-30-19 | Brewers -120 v. Pirates | Top | 11-5 | Win | 100 | 14 h 1 m | Show |
Pittsburgh snapped a two-game losing streak with a win at Cincinnati on Wednesday, 7-2. The win evened the Bucs season record at 27-27. Joe Musgrove will start today for the Bucs with a 3-5 record in his 10 starts. Musgrove has a 4.74 ERA and 1.211 WHIP and is coming off one of his worst starts. Musgrove allowed six runs over five innings last start to the Dodgers in a loss. The Brewers had Wednesday off after a two-game series split against the Twins. The Brewers are holding onto first place in the NL Central, just ahead of the surging Cubs. Chase Anderson starts today for the Brewers. Anderson is 1-0 in his four starts with a 2.55 ERA and 1.302 WHIP. Anderson has had two starts where's allowed no runs this season and the other two he's allowed four and three runs. The Brewers are a small favorite here on Thursday and I like them in this spot with Anderson on the hill. Play Milwaukee |
05-29-19 | Blue Jays v. Rays -1.5 | 3-4 | Loss | -111 | 14 h 1 m | Show
The Tampa Bay Rays look to win their fourth game tonight after beating the Blue Jays on Tuesday, 3-1. Blake Snell will get the start tonight for the Rays. Snell is 3-4 in his 10 starts with a 3.07 ERA and 1.006 WHIP. Snell has been very good in recent starts, allowing two runs over his last two games and four runs over his last four games. Toronto dropped their second game in a row and fifth in their last six games. Trent Thornton will start tonight for the Blue Jays. Thornton is 1-4 in his 11 starts with a 4.42 ERA and 1.272 WHIP. Thornton is off a decent start, allowing three runs over six innings. The Rays continue to play exceptionally well and with Snell on the hill I look for another one sided win. I'm laying the 1.5 runs here with the Rays tonight. Play Tampa Bay -1.5 |
05-29-19 | Pirates +140 v. Reds | 7-2 | Win | 140 | 4 h 13 m | Show
The Pirates lost at the Reds yesterday, 6-11. The Reds are up 2-1 in this series with the final game today. So far these teams are 2-0-1 O/U/P. This morning I'm looking at the OVER between these two teams. The Pirates have gone over in seven of the last eight with one push and are 10-1-1 O/U/P their last 12 games. Steven Brault gets only his third start of the season. Brault has a 9.39 ERA with a 2.086 WHIP thus far. The Reds have also been a good over team with two straight overs and a 6-0-1 O/U/P record their last seven. Anthony Descalfani starts today with a 4.99 ERA and 1.315 WHIP. Neither of these pitchers are all that good and both teams have been great over plays of late. I'm making my play on the OVER here this morning. |
05-29-19 | Padres +125 v. Yankees | Top | 0-7 | Loss | -100 | 3 h 34 m | Show |
Interleague action this morning has the Padres playing at the Yankees. San Diego lost game one of this series and then took game two yesterday, 5-4. The Padres are now 29-26 on the season and in 2nd place in the NL West. Chris Paddack will start this morning with a 4-2 record and a 1.93 ERA. Paddack also has a great WHIP of just 0.760. Paddack has not allowed more than three runs in any of his nine starts this season and the Padres are now 7-2 in his starts. The Yankees will counter with James Paxton. Paxton is 3-2 in his seven starts with a 3.11 ERA and 1.195 WHIP. Paxton is coming off just a three-inning outing where he gave up 2 hits and no runs but had three walks. Paxton was forced from the game with a sore knee. This is an ongoing problem he's had all season. Still, Paxton will get the start today. I can't pass on the Padres as a nice dog here today with a very good Paddack on the hill. Especially since I'm not sure how healthy Paxton will be today. Take San Diego. |
