Here’s what Larry is interested in this week. There are two unbeaten teams and there are two winless teams remaining. We will watch to see if 0-7 St. Louis can pick up its first win of the year or if 0-7 Miami can finally get in the win column. Both teams will have the luxury of playing at home to try to get the job done. Oddsmakers are giving the Dolphins virtually no shot at coming up with win number one as they have set the opening number at 9 points against the red hot Giants. On the other hand, linesmakers feel the Rams could have a shot against the Browns. St. Louis is just a field goal underdog at home against 3-3 Cleveland. The fact that the Browns are 0-2 on the road, no doubt, has this one closer than some might have expected.
New England and Indy will try to stay undefeated. The Pats are 16-point favorites at home against Washington. In other words, oddsmakers will be brutally shocked if the Pats were to go down this week. Indy opens as a 6-point road favorite at Carolina. Because the Colts played on Monday Night Football this past week, the books feel that the one less day of preparation, combined with Carolina coming off a bye week, will have this one within a TD. But of the two undefeateds, it’s obvious that the books see the Colts going down first and that has been projected in their lines all season long.
Here are the week 8 NFL opening lines. Make sure you check back all week for up to date numbers.
