Week 3 NFL Football Odds, Lines & Point Spreads

The books have a lot of close matchups slated this week. The lines have opened with 11 of 16 matchups having lines of 4.5 or less. 13 of 16 games are slated to be decided by less than a TD, and only one game has a double digit favorite. The matchup that figures to be the biggest toss up of these close games is the Vikings versus the Chiefs as the bookmakers have given this matchup the tightest spread. This game features two run-oriented teams who try to beat you with field positions, ball control, and defense.

The Dallas Cowboys on the road at Soldier Field to take on the Bears looks to be the week’s top matchup and the NFL is pitting it as such by showcasing it on Sunday Night Football’s primetime spot. Based on the first two week’s of the season, this one can be billed as Chicago’s defense versus Dallas’ offense.

The Texans have been the Colts’ punching bags since their inaugural season, but the books have only made the Colts 5.5-point favorites after beating the Titans by only two points last week. Can Houston mimic its strong week 1 performance this week or will the Colts be out for blood after a scare in week 2. We shall watch and see.
