Week 2 NFL Odds, Lines, & Point Spreads

The week 2 NFL lines are now posted and Larry Cook is here to help you beat those odds once again in the second week of the NFL season. As many of you know Larry was the 2006 NFL Handicapping Champion and he is coming off a stellar 5-2-1 week 1 performance last weekend. Week 2 is significant as many teams dive into division play. However, the most compelling matchup this week will take place outside of division play when the San Diego Chargers head to New England to take on the Patriots in what could be an AFC Championship game preview. The Patriots have opened up at home as 3.5 point favorites over the Chargers. Both teams are coming off impressive week 1 wins, but the Chargers’ win over the Bears was more impressive as San Diego forced Chicago into multiple turnovers and won the game despite not getting much on the ground with LaDainian Tomlinson. Perhaps, the Chargers will be in a better position this week having played a more formidable opponent in week 1. If you feel that is the case, taking the 3.5 points has to be looking pretty tempting right now.

The Colts versus the Titans is another matchup of intrigue in week 2 as the Colts defense will have the challenge of corralling Vince Young, the game’s most elusive QB. The Colts, even after their blowout win over New Orleans, are just 7-point favorites on the road in this AFC South matchup. Perhaps the books know something to keep you out of the public’s trap.

The Chiefs versus the Bears is another matchup of interest. The Chiefs, who made the playoffs last season lost their opener to the lowly Houston Texans. Will the Chiefs be able to rebound against the NFC Champion Bears who will be out for a little revenge of their own. The books think the chances are very slim by making the Chiefs 11.5 point underdogs.
