USC/Oregon State Spread, Odds & Predictions

Southern California crushed Virginia 52-7 in their opener and then went on to beat Ohio State at home 35-3.  After humiliating these non-conference foes, the Trojans enter Pac-10 play on Thursday, September 25th.  USC is coming off a bye week after beating the Buckeyes handily last week.  Folks are starting to compare this team to the ‘04 National Champions that featured Matt Leinart and Reggie Bush.  The Trojans went 7-2 in conference play last season to win its sixth straight Pac-10 title.  Since their league title streak began in 2002, the Trojans are 44-6 in conference play.  Bet the Total of this game with the OVER/UNDER set at 52 at Sportsbook.com!

Last year the Trojans beat Oregon State 24-3 at home on November 3rd.  But their last trip to Corvallis on Oct. 28, 2006 didn’t go so well.  The Trojans were stunned 33-31 by the Beavers, ending the programs’ 38-game regular-season winning streak under Carroll.  QB Mark Sanchez is just another great one in the long line of USC quarterbacks.  He threw for four touchdown passes against Ohio State last week, totaling seven in two games already this season.  Joe McKnight looks to be comparable to Reggie Bush, rushing for 105 yards on only 12 carries last week.  He carried just six times for 60 yards the week prior.  This stud is averaging nearly 10.0 yards/carry already.  Bet USC -25 at BetUs.com!

USC enters this game as the best defense in the country, allowing the fewest points in the nation.  They are second-best in yards allowed at just 197.0/game.  Oregon State will have their troubles moving the ball against this stout defense.  After opening the season with a 36-28 loss at Stanford, Oregon State went on to get throttled by then-No. 19 Penn State 45-14 the following week.  But the Beavers can enter this game with some confidence after beating Hawaii 45-7 in their last game at home.  Wager on Oregon State +25.5 at Sportsbook.com.

Jacquizz Rodgers is explosive, rushing for 110 yards and two touchdowns against the Warriors.   In his last two games, the 5-foot-7 Rodgers has rushed for 209 yards and four scores.  His older brother, sophomore slot back James Rodgers, has 13 catches for 159 yards and a score this season as well.  The Beavers will need big games from this set of brothers to have any chance of competing with USC on Thursday.
