UFC 87 Seek and Destroy Picks & Predictions
If you love MMA fighting then you know that on August 9th the UFC is set for another great pay-per-view event, as UFC 87 Seek and Destroy is set to get underway for the Target Center in Minneapolis this upcoming weekend. The main card is packed with great fights, but we are going to take some time to look what many are calling the two biggest fights in Georges St-Pierre vs. Jon Fitch for the Welterweight Championship, and former WWE star Brock Lesnar vs. Heath Herring. Here is a quick breakdown of each fight, plus our picks on who we think comes out on top.
Brock Lesnar (-250) vs. Heath Herring (+180) odds at BetUS.com
There is a lot of hype surrounding this fight, as many think that Lesnar needs to come away with a win in this one if he ever wants to make it as a star in the UFC. Lesnar looked pretty good in his last fight against Frank Mir, where he looked like he was going to use his power to knock him out, but wound up finding himself in a leg lock and it was all over. Lesnar still lacks the experience to know just how to avoid situations like that, and he will likely have his hands full with the much more experienced Heath Herring. Herring has fought many fighters with the same technique and skills as Lesnar, which should give him a big advantage, plus Herring really came out and let everyone know that he is taking things seriously now with a very impressive win over Cheick Kongo in his last fight. There is just to much Lesnar has to do right in this one, and we don’t think he is going to be able hang with Herring in this one.

Georges St-Pierre (-350) vs. Jon Fitch (+250) odds at BetUS.com
If you want to talk about a top notch fighter to go up against in your first title defense, then you have to talk about Jon Fitch, who has ran over everyone since coming over to fight in the UFC. Fitch has won his first 8 fights, that includes wins over guys Diego Sanchez and Chris Wilson in his last two fights. Fitch like Pierre has a great all around fighting style, but he is likely to do the most damage on the ground where he can use his great wrestling skills. He will need everything in the tank if he wants to win as St-Pierre has looked scary good since his loss to Matt Serra. Pierre has ran off wins over Josh Koscheck, Matt Hughes, and most recently over Matt Serra for the Welterweight Championship. Its hard to find a weakness in his game as he is so well rounded that he can win in almost any situation. If Fitch is able to land a big blow and send St-Pierre stumbling like Serra did, then he can win this thing, but we don’t see that happening. We look for St-Pierre to win this one by TKO somewhere in the 2nd round.
