UFC 86 Picks & Odds
June 23, 2008
If you are a fan of the UFC than you won’t want to miss one, as the UFC heads to Las Vegas’s Mandalay Bay Events Center for UFC 86 on Saturday July 5th. While there are 5 fights scheduled to air on pay-per-view, there is one fight far above the rest. Quinton Jackson will put his Light Heavyweight title up for grabs against Forrest Griffin. These two fighters should be pretty familiar with one another after spending much of the year as coaches for the 7th season of UFC’s Ultimate Fighter. The other four fights are going to be entertaining so there is no reason not to make a night of it. With the fight only a couple weeks away its time to make our UFC 86 Predictions.
Quinton “Rampage” Jackson Vs. Forrest Griffin
For those of who plan on watching fireworks during this great holiday weekend, you can get a little extra excitement if you take the time to watch two of the best fighters the UFC has to offer. Jackson is your Light Heavyweight champion after he took the belt from Chuck Liddell. Jackson defended his belt against Dan Henderson at UFC 75. Griffin is coming off a big win over Mauricio Ruo by a choke submission. Both fighters have great stand up but the edge would likely go to the power of Jackson, but if the fight goes to the ground, than its right in Griffin’s wheel house. We got Rampage winning this thing by knock out in round 3.
Winner:
Quinton Jackson - 260 at Bodoglife.com
Patrick “The Predator” Cote Vs. Ricardo “Big Dog” Almeida
There is plenty to like in this fight as well, as its the next best thing to Jackson vs. Griffin. Cote is a very powerful striker and can land a knock out punch at anytime, as he did in his last two fights against Kendall Grove and Drew McFedries. Almeida is a much better fighter on the ground and both his wins in the UFC have game by submission, with the last coming against Rob Yundt by choke out. We got Cote by way of knock out.
Winner:
Patrick Cote - 105 at Bodoglife.com
Joe “Daddy” Stevenson Vs. Gleison Tibau
This fight is probably one of the more one sided fights you will see all night. Stevenson has an excellent ground game, but also has the ability to knock his opponent out. If Tibau is going to win this fight he is going to have to land a big punch early, or catch Stevenson off guard on the ground.
Winner:
Joe Stevenson -215 at Bodoglife.com
Josh “Kos” Koscheck Vs. Chris “Lights Out” Lytle
Koscheck is not only a good wrestler he is a great athlete as well. He has looked pretty good in his fights in the UFC and is coming off his second knock out win in the UFC over Dustin Hazelett. Lytle is a big underdog coming into the fight, but we feel it will be much closer than many expect. Lytle has fought some good competition in his career, and is also coming off a knock out win at UFC 81 over Kyle Bradley.
Winner:
Josh Koscheck -315 at Bodoglife.com
Tyson Griffin Vs. Marcus “Maximus” Aurelio
Griffin brings in a lot of hype with his great record, and his excellent ability to ground and pound his opponents, but we think he is a little overrated coming into this fight against Aurelio. The guy they call “Maximus” has plenty to prove in this one, and we think he is going to humble Griffin with a submission victory either late in round 2 or early in the 3rd round.
Winner:
Marcus Aurelio +280 at Bodoglife.com
