2008 PGA TOUR RBC Canadian Open Odds

The weekend the PGA Tour says good bye to the British and hello to the Canadians, as this week golfers head to Ontario, Canada for the 2008 RBC Canadian Open as Jim Furyk looks to win his 3rd straight title, but the last two came on different courses, so it will be interesting to see if he can pull it out. Last week Padraig Harrington was able to come through on Sunday to win his 2nd straight British Open championship. While Harrington won’t be in action this week, along with many other top name golfers, there is still a field full of hungry golfers ready to go after the $5,000,000 purse this weekend. To get a good idea at who has a shot this weekend lets breakdown the field into the favorites, middle of the pack, and long shots we think have a chance this weekend.
Favorites:
Jim Furyk +800, Anthony Kim +1000, Mike Weir +1500, and Stephen Ames +1500
There is plenty to like when you look at this group as you have 4 golfers that all played well last week at the British Open. Furyk easily comes in as the favorite after winning the last two, but he is going to have his hands full with Kim, Weir, and Ames. If the Canadian Weir can stay in the hunt on Sunday it will add some much needed excitement to the weekend.
Middle of the Pack:
Retief Goosen +2000, Camilo Villegas +2500, Bubba Watson +3000, Dean Wilson +3000, Ken Duke +3000, and Scott Verplank +3000
This group definitely has the talent to take home the trophy this weekend, just ask Verplank who won it back in 2001. Goosen is always a threat, and Villegas showed flashes of brillance last weekend at the British Open.
Long Shots:
Pat Perez +4000, Carl Pettersson +4000, Ben Curtis +4000, Ryuji Imada +4000, Sean O’Hair +5000, and Bob Tway +8000
Tway is the only golfer of this group that has won this tournament, which he did so back in 2003. There is plenty of talent in this group and we think that guys like Perez, Pettersson, and Curtis have a legit shot at making a run this weekend.
