The Houston Nutt era begins Saturday for the Ole Miss Rebels and they are hoping he can get their program turned around in a hurry.  Ole Miss has a chance to get off to a fast start as they have the Memphis Tigers coming into town for a 7 PM kickoff on Saturday.

Latest JustBet Betting Odds have Mississippi -7.5 over Memphis with a total of 53.5

Let’s take a look at some key betting trends regarding the two teams and this matchup:

Memphis has covered just two of their last six games, but they have won five of their last seven straight up.
The Tigers have won SU and ATS four of their last six when on the road, also playing UNDER the total in seven of their last ten as a visitor.

Ole MIss has lost five of their last six overall and five of their last seven at home, but have managed to cover five of their last six games.

Between the two teams, Memphis is 4-1 ATS in their last five meetings, while Ole MIss has won six of the last eight outright.

The cupboard is pretty bare for Nutt, but cleaning house might not be such a bad thing as badly as this program has struggled here recently.  Jevan Sneed will take over at quarterback, after transferring from Texas after realizing he wasn’t going to see the field behind Colt McCoy.

The loss of Benjarvis Green-Ellis will hurt the ground game, and now the Rebels have a couple of freshman who will handle the duties.  They might have trouble getting any sort of rushing attack going against Memphis.

On defense Ole Miss will be without their top two defensive lineman, which will hurt since there isn’t a lot of depth in the unit.

Memphis will turn the ball over to juco transfer Arkelon Hall and with six receivers returning who put up 244 catches a year ago, we think he’ll be able to come in and perform well right away.  Defensively though this team could struggle, giving up more than 5 ypc a year ago.

These two teams aren’t going to be among the best in college football this year, but the games between the two have been competitive in recent years.  This normally means that you should lean towards taking the underdog, but if you want to see what our expert college football picks are this weekend then you will have to join us on the premium side.
