I hope there are still some of you out there interested in heavyweight boxing because we are in for a treat this Saturday when heavyweight title holder Shannon Briggs of the United Stated faces off against powerful Russian Sultan Ibagrimov. If you haven’t yet taken a look at the Ibragimov Briggs odds, it’s time you checked them out and started doing some research on the big fight.

The big question surrounding this fight is if the “Cannon” can punch his way to another upset as he tries to maintain his heavyweight title. His power packed punches which earned him his nickname also earned him his title belt as he knocked out Sergei Liakhovich in the 12th and final round back in November in a fight he was getting dominated in. Larry Cook has weighed both sides and his Briggs Ibragimov Predictions will deliver you the winner.

The fact that the heavyweight champ is the underdog in this fight tells you the state of boxing’s heavyweight division as it continues to search for a unified champ. Briggs has held the title once before back in 1998 when he defeated George Foreman in a controversial decision and he regained it last November when he pulled a stunning knockout out of his hat in the final round against Sergei Liakhovich in a fight all 3 judges has Briggs losing on their score cards.

Briggs has plenty of power and good stamina for his age, but he is not the technical boxer anymore that Ibagrimov is. Ibagrimov has also shown some impressive punching ability of his own. These two were scheduled to fight on March 10th but Briggs was sick and did not fight so Ibagrimov fought Javier Mora instead and set a Madison Square Garden record by knocking him out in 46 seconds. The Russian is undefeated at 20-0-1 in his career and looks much fresher than his 32-year-old age might indicate.

Briggs has had a very respectable career, but his days in the ring are all but over. This one likely goes over the total rounds as not many fighters have been able to knockout Briggs, but I feel the Russian Ibagrimov is still up and coming. He is more youthful and there’s no doubt that he wants this more. I anticipate him being the type of fighter who could keep the heavyweight title belt for several years. That’s the kind of a champ that this sport needs. I’m not sure if he can bring back enthusiasm for this sport in the United States the way an unstoppable American champ could, but the boxing community will respect him ability for years to come.

We’ll take Sultan Ibagrimov to win this Saturday’s heavyweight title bout. Make sure you check back for more predictions on upcoming boxing and UFC fights.
