The Bill Parcells moulded 2008 Miami Dolphins are improved but, so are the Arizona Cardinals and head coach Ken Whisenhunt, who has impressed out of the gate. A lot of NFL wiseguys have been high on the Cardinals, who on Sunday will be playing in front of an amped home opener crowd. The fish played the Jets tough but, they need more time to jell before they can become a contender. Miami is going to try and handle the Cardinals on the ground with RB’s Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown. The Cardinals are banged up on the defensive front but, Cardinals WLB, Karlos Dansby is a heavy hitter. Chad Pennington managed the Fins efficiently throwing for two TD’s in the opener. Expect Pennington to improve as the season progresses, as he develops a repo ire with his wideouts. Miami TE Anthony Fasano, a Parcells breed, could have a breakout year. The young Dolphins are expected to go through some growing pains as they jell and develop their abilities. The Cardinals were all over the 49ers QB last week for 4 sacks and, this week Pennington could get harassed.
Kurt Warner wants to throw it around the field to his skilled set of wideouts but, the Cardinals want to establish power running. Arizona RB Edgerrin James is on the downslide but, James is still a capable workhorse with good vision. Miami’s tackling and lack off turnovers could hurt them against a Cardinals team loaded with playmakers. Miami had a decent pass-rush last week and they will need to try an force turnover prone Cards QB Warner into some mistakes. Miami has a hammer in the secondary in Safety Yeremiah Bell, who will need to ring Anquan Boldin and Larry Fitzgerald’s bell early, to set the tone for Miami’s defense. Miami’s rush defense is looking steady but, the leaks in the coverage could get exposed deep. The Dolphins, will need a big game from top cover corner Will Allen, who played excellent last week with several pass breakups. The Cardinals have some weapons and should win this game with some big plays late. Miami has some hard nosed players but, they are still an ordinary NFL team.
