When you go about making your Belmont Stakes predictions there are a few things that we recommend you taking a look at in order to make sure your picks are the best that they can be.  This is the final race of the Triple Crown season and is the longest of the three races, a real test of endurance for all of the horses involved.  There are going to be around ten horses in this race and there are not going to be a lot of the same ponies that were in Derby and Preakness.

When making Belmont Stakes predictions remember to take into account how this is a different race than the first two major horse races of the year due to the mile and a half distance.  There have been plenty of contenders who have faltered down the stretch after leading towards the end of the race, and if you don’t want your horse letting you down in this way then the key factor to look for is stamina and ability to close late.  The best way to look for these factors are to look into the horse’s lineage and family history.  The parents are the most important to look at, but you can also go back to grandparents or further to see what the horse is made of.

The horse’s training is also very important to the horse’s endurance and thus, is something you are going to have to look at before making your Belmont Stakes predictions.  The trainer is the most important human involved, sure jockeys ride the horse during the race and are in control, but the trainer is the one who puts the horse into shape and gets him ready to run the longer distance.  It’s nearly impossible to keep the horse at peak condition for the five weeks of the Triple Crown season, so that is one reason you won’t see a Triple Crown winner any time soon.  If a horse is coming into this race with two jewels under his belt, they’ll have the toughest test yet with the Belmont.
