Get ready NASCAR fans as we get ready for the 2008 Allstate 400 at The Brickyard this weekend, its been a long two weeks off from the sprint cup series and drivers are likely ready to get back in action. With only 7 races left in the Sprint Cup season drivers are doing whatever it takes to get in the top 12, for the race for the cup. Last year Tony Stewart was able to win the much important, and one of the fans favorite events of the year. With so few races left Jason Lowry is going to break down this weekends race into the favorites, guys in the middle of the pack, and the long shots, plus he is going to let you know just who needs to do well, and who can take things a little less stressful this weekend.

Favorites: Kyle Busch +600, Jimmie Johnson +700, Kasey Kahne +700, Tony Stewart +700,and Carl Edwards +800
Busch has simply been the best driver of the season, as he picked up his 7th win of the season in the last race at the Lifelock.com. Busch has yet to win here at the Brickyard, but we wouldn’t be surprised if he pulls it out this weekend. Johnson and Edwards are both out of harms way this weekend as they are both in the top 5, but Stewart and Kahne need to have good performances, as they are less than 100 points from being out of the top 12.

Middle of the Pack: Matt Kenseth +1000, Denny Hamlin +1000, Dale Earnhardt Jr +1200, Greg Biffle +1500, Jeff Gordon +1500, and Brian Vickers +1800
Hamlin is the current cut off as he holds down the No. 12 spot by a slight 12 points over Clint Bowyer. Guys like Gordon, Earnhardt Jr, and Biffle are all pretty safe for now, but there is no reason to let up on any weekend. If we had to pick one guy out of this group to take charge this weekend, we would have to go with Hamlin this weekend.

Long Shots: Kevin Harvick +2000, Jeff Burton +2500, Mark Martin +2500, Clint Bower +3000, David Ragan +3000, Ryan Newman +5000, and Bobby Labonte +10000
This group has plenty of talent, but just hasn’t had the greatest success on this track. Labonte gets in this group as he won this event back in 2003, but guys like Harvick, Bowyer, and Ragan a solid race this weekend could go a long way in making the top 12 at seasons end. We go with Harvick to be the guy out of this group as he has done well here, including a win here back in 2003.
