For those of you who love pro football this weekend marks the start of the 2008 NFL playoff betting and we know you are as excited as we are here at Info Plays.  Even if the team that is favored to win it all is taking the weekend to rest up for their first game next weekend, it still should be an interesting set of football games.  Of course when we talk about the favorites we are talking about New England, who ended the season at 16-0, which made them a big -180 favorite to win the Super Bowl.  Tom Brady and his fellow Patriots are also a -275 favorite to win the AFC and while those aren’t very lucrative odds, what else did you expect from the team that dominated the rest of the league this year.

The next three teams on the list are the Indianapolis Colts, Dallas Cowboys, and Green Bay Packers, and all three of those teams have byes this week as well, showing just how important it is to take that week up to get healthy.  Both Peyton’s bunch and Romo’s boys are listed at +500 odds, with Favre’s Packers showing value for some at +1000.  The Colts are listed at +350 to win the AFC, while the Cowboys at -175 and the Packers at +225 are the NFC leaders.

What about the teams playing this weekend?  Well the leader of that bunch are the Jacksonville Jaguars, who were two games behind the Colts in the South but still had the third-most wins in the AFC.  They head into Pittsburgh this weekend to take on the Steelers and are getting +1400 odds to win it all.  Their AFC championship odds are pegged at +900.

The next team on the list are the San Diego Chargers coming in with a six-game winning streak and an 11-5 record.  The Chargers play the Titans this weekend and are getting +1800 odds to win Super Bowl XLII and +1000 to bring home the AFC title.

Tennessee heads to San Diego this weekend, but the sportsbooks have written this team off for the most part.  The Titans have the worst odds of any postseason team and are listed at +10000, and also a steep longshot to even get to the title game with +5500 odds to win the AFC.

On the other side of the league the Seattle Seahawks follow the Cowboys and Packers on the list of contenders.  This team cruised to the NFC West title but is getting no respect with their +3000 Super Bowl odds, but there isn’t as much value in them winning the NFC at +800.

The Bucs may  have won the NFC South, but with +5000 odds to win the Super Bowl they aren’t getting much love.  The Wild Card teams are long shots as well coming in at +6000 odds.  The conference title odds are longshots too with the Bucs at +1400, Giants +1800, and Redskins at +2000.
