2008 NASCAR Sprint All Star Race Predictions & Odds
This week NASCAR is heading to Charlotte for the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race that is unlike many other sports all-star games. In other sports all-star games are usually played with little intensity and are a much more fun and entertaining atmosphere. When the drivers get ready to race this weekend there won’t be any driver taking the race lightly as there is a $3.3 million purse that pays over $1 million to the winner. The race is setup to allow all the winners of this season and last year to battle it out for the big prize. There is also a qualifying race that allows some of the drivers who don’t fit the criteria to make it into the race. On top of that there is a fan vote to add one additional driver to the field. Last year the Kevin Harvick took the checkered flag and will be looking for a repeat here this week. Kyle Busch was able to take home the victory at the Dodge Challenger 500 and is arguably the hottest driver coming into this week’s race. Here is our weekly 1-2-3 prediction that gives you who we think is going to be the main guys with a chance to win on the final lap of the race.
1. Dale Earnhardt Jr. 7/1 odds at Sportsbook.com
We have a feeling that Earnhardt Jr. is going to take this race to heart, as he really wants to win badly after all that has gone on with him and Kyle Busch. Earnhardt Jr. currently sits in 3rd place in the point standings and would love nothing more than to send Busch out of the race and take the checkered flag at Charlotte. Earnhardt Jr. has yet to win on the season, but has been consistent with quality finishes this year including a 4th place finish last week at Darlington. Jr. won this race as a rookie and we feel its time for him to win it again, look for Earnhardt Jr. to take home the victory this weekend.
2. Denny Hamlin 10/1 odds at Sportsbook.com
Hamlin is currently sitting right behind Jr. in the point standings at 4th, and with a solid finish last week at Darlington, we feel he is ready to have another solid performance this week. Remember if you take out his 24th place finish two weeks ago at Richmond International Speedway this guy has finished in the top 7 each week over the last 8 weeks of racing, including a win at the Goody’s Cool Orange 500. Hamlin is going to be a threat this week and we like his chances of another top 3 finish this week.
3. Kyle Busch 6/1 odds at Sportsbook.com
Busch races with what seems like no fear or care for what the others drivers think. Many drivers and fans all over the country hate him, but that hasn’t stopped him from putting on a show this season. In his last five races he has 2 wins and 2 other top 3 finishes. While it would be great to see Busch and Earnhardt Jr. go head to head on the final lap, we think Busch will use a late run to sneak into the top 3. This could be a risky pick as Busch is due for either causing a big wreck, or maybe someone who is a little pissed off at him to go after him. We don’t think that will happen this week with all the money involved in the race, but Busch better look out in the near future.
