Food City 500 NASCAR Predictions & Odds To Win in 2008
June 8, 2008
This week drivers are heading to Tennessee to Bristol Motor Speedway for the Food City 500. Bristol is one of the driver’s most popular stops on the racing season as it marks the first short track the drivers get to race on. This will mark 48th running of this event, but it didn’t adopt the name Food City 500 until 1992. While the short track takes away some of the faster speeds you would see on a regular track, Bristol is the fastest of all the short tracks. To show just how much people like this track it is considered the 2nd hardest ticket to find in all of sports. There are a few that don’t like the short track and the bunched up driving, but they need to sit back and relax and get ready for one of NASCAR’s best races of the year. Kyle Busch will not only be entering Bristol as the last years winner, but he also last weeks winner after he took home the checkered flag at the Kobalt Tools 500. With that said here is our 1-2-3 finish for the Food City 500 set to get underway Sunday March 16th.
1. Dale Earnheardt Jr. 7-1 at Sportsbook.com
Dale Earnheardt Jr. has been pretty impressive this year even though he has yet to enter victory lane this season. In he first season as a member of the Hendricks Motorsports team, he might arguably be the best driver of the star filled team that includes Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson. Earnheardt has had some success at Bristol winning on the track back in August of 2004 at the Sharpie 500 that takes place towards the end of the season on this very same track. Past success plays a big role on short tracks and especially here at Bristol. Earnheardt is almost always around the top 10, and we think that this week will mark the first of many victories in the 88 car.
2. Carl Edwards 6-1 at Sportsbook.com
While Carl Edwards back-to-back victories took a little hit with the trouble Edwards got in over his car and not passing inspections. The thing is you can’t argue with how well this guy is racing this season, as he seems to always be in the mix. Like Earnheardt Jr. Edwards also has a victory here at Bristol back in the latter of the two races on this track in 2007. So with the most recent victory on this track should favor for another top 3 finish for one of this seasons best drivers.
3. Kyle Busch 7-1 at Sportsbook.com
Its hard to pick against this guy and not have him winning the race as he has been one of the most consistent driver so far this season through the first 4 races. While Kyle Busch is the defending champion here at the Food City 500, his brother Kurt Busch has also had success on this track, winning 4 times in the last 6 years. While we have Busch to finish 3rd we wouldn’t be surprised if these three drivers swiped spots by the time the race came to an end, but you can’t get upset with yet another top finish if our standings come true.
