Best Buy 400 NASCAR Predictions & Odds to Win in 2008
What better way to get the month of June started than with a quality NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race, as the Best Buy 400 will get underway this Sunday June 1st at the Dover, Delaware. The Monster Mile is home a favorite for many of the drivers heading there this weekend, as 6 drivers have will head to Dover International Speedway with at least 2 wins on the track in their career. It is also worth noting that this race will be benefiting Student Clubs for Autism Speaks. Last year’s winner Martin Truex Jr. will look to repeat and join the group of multiple wins here, but he will have a tough time doing so against a stacked field. Kasey Kahne was able to back up his win at the NASCAR Sprint All-Star race with another win at the Coca-Cola 600 for back-to-back wins at Lowe’s Motor Speedway. Lets take a look at our 1-2-3 predictions for the Best Buy 400.
1. Jimmie Johnson 8-1 odds at Sportsbook.com
While we just as easily could of taken teammates Jeff Gordon or Dale Earnhardt Jr, we decided to go with the two-time defending points champion Jimmie Johnson this week. Johnson is one of the drivers that has multiple wins on this track, as he has taken home the checkered flag here 3 times in his career. Johnson has fallen to 9th in the point standings, and could really use a big finish this week, and we feel that is exactly what he is going to get.
2. Denny Hamlin 8-1 odds at Sportsbook.com
Hamlin doesn’t have the success as a lot of the other drivers this weekend, but we have a good feeling that this will be the start of a new trend here for Hamlin. He is coming off a 4th place finish in his last race on this track, and has been one of the most solid drivers all season. He currently sits in the 4th in the point standings and will be looking to add to his 1 victory and 4 top 5 finishes. We think that the shorter distance this week will help out Hamlin, as he seemed to struggle last week finishing 24th at the Coca-Cola 600. If you are picking the top 3, Hamlin is a good bet to cash in.
3. Tony Stewart 8-1 odds at Sportsbook.com
Stewart is one of many big time names that have yet to win this season, and though we aren’t so sure that this will be his week, we do feel that he is going to have a solid race here at Dover. Stewart has finished 1st here twice in his career and has 13 top 10 finishes, making him a legit threat to maybe come through with a win this weekend. While Stewart hasn’t done so hot on winning races, he does have 6 top 10 finishes, and its only a matter of time before this guy gets it going this season. Look for Stewart to get back on track with a big showing at the Best Buy 400.
