Here are our early 2007 World Series predictions as the regular season is about 75% of the way complete.  This should be another exiting chase down the rest of the regular season, and there stand to be some great teams battling it out in both leagues for the chance to win baseball’s title.  While the list that we have is still just a best guess of how we think the season is going to play out, and then which of the playoff teams has the best chance of making it all the way to the end, if you plan on betting on any of the MLB futures then you will want to take a read at what we have to say.

We’ll get started with the American League, where in our opinion it’s going to be the Boston Red Sox, the New York Yankees, the Cleveland Indians, and the Anaheim Angels.  The Detroit Tigers have a good shot at creeping in there and taking either the Wild Card away from the Yankees or else the Central away from the Indians, but we think they are going to be on the outside looking in.  Which is a shame since they had a good run last year and were off to a good start this year, seemingly a shoe-in to make the playoffs again until New York kicked itself into gear right before the All-Star break.

So which team is going to come out of that mess?  Well we think the teams with the best shot are the Red Sox and Yankees.  Boston has the best record in baseball and has held that title for almost the entire year.  They have a quality balance through their lineup with the big names complimenting some fine role players.  The pitching staff is what make this team so great though as three starters have really emerged as number one type guys, and that is almost all you need in the post-season to make a run.  New York has a dangerous lineup, and they have some big arms as well.  The key for them will be how some of these young players will do come playoff time.  Most likely they will see some time in the bullpen as well, which will be an interesting role to take on.  All-in-all, Boston is still the team to beat but New York will make it interesting.

Now let’s head over to the National League where the New York Mets and the Arizona Cardinals are pulling away in their divisions, leaving a tough wild card race and an interesting Central race.  The Chicago Cubs in our opinion have the best all-around team out of the bunch, so we are predicting they walk away with the division crown.  That leaves the Brewers fighting it out with the Padres, Dodgers, Braves, Cardinals, and Phillies for the final spot.  The Cardinals have been coming on strong, but the Padres have been around all season long and have plenty of experience themselves to pull it through.  When you have a team matching up against Chris Young and Jake Peavy come playoff team then this is going to be one tough squad to beat.  The Mets don’t seem to have the pitching, and Arizona is still a little young.  I like the Padres and Cubs.  We are going to go with Chicago in what would have been a dream match-up a few years ago if the Red Sox hadn’t put an end to their curse.

The Red Sox are the better team, as the American League has a bunch of squads that are much more complete than you will find in the National League.  Ride Boston to the World Series title with your futures wagers and you’ll end up a winner.
