2007 Baltimore Ravens NFL Predictions & Preview
June 5, 2008
With our 2007 Ravens predictions we see a team that has a sense of urgency. The team isn’t getting any younger with Ray Lewis, Steve McNair, and Jonathan Ogden getting up there in years. If the team doesn’t make a run this year they might not have enough gas left in the tank to do so again in years to come. The only big loss was Adalius Thomas on a team that went 13-3 last year before losing to the eventual Super Champions. With such a talented offense coupling up with the best defense in the league, expect Baltimore to make a run this year.

The quarterback position is pretty much shored up with McNair. He proved he still had what it took last season by having his best season since 2003 when he was the league’s co-MVP. When he goes down with an injury, which seems to be a yearly problem, Kyle Boller proved he could step in last season by throwing 5 TDs in two starts. The team also hopes to develop Troy Smith for the future. Jamal Lewis is gone to Cleveland and will be replaced by Willis McGahee. McGahee should be a nice addition and will provide speed as the Ravens struggled to get things going last year on the ground. Mike Anderson is a bruiser that call spell McGahee. The team has a nice stable of pass catchers for McNair led by Mark Clayton, Derrick Mason, and Demetrius Williams. The top target from a year ago was tight end Todd Heap. Offensively this team should be improved from a year ago.
It’s tough to improve a defense that ranked no. 1 a year ago, and with the loss of Thomas Baltimore is hoping to just maintain. The line was awesome last season and has tons of talent with Kelly Gregg, Haloti Ngata, and Trevor Pryce. All of these guys were forces last season and should be ready to do it again in 2007. Ray Lewis still leads one of the best linebacking groups in the league. Bart Scott is the future of the defense and will start in the middle with Lewis. Terrell Suggs has become more than just one of the best pass rushers in the game, and Jarret Johnson will be the other starter on the outside, replacing Thomas. The secondary has a couple of Pro-Bowl type guys in Chris McAllister and Ed Reed. Dawan Landry filled in nicely as a fifth-round pick out of Georgia Tech and should be a force. The team is expecting a little more out of Samari Rolle.
The expectations are pretty high for this team and they should be. We see Baltimore winning more than 9 games, so we are going with the OVER win total. This is the team we think has the best shot at winning the AFC North and we think they are going to take out the rest of the competition. The value they are showing to win the Super Bowl and AFC is intriguing. They are a little behind the Pats and Chargers to start out the season, but at the 12-1 value provided for the AFC and 25-1 for the Super Bowl, we think this is possibly worth a wager.
