Odds to Win the 2007 Pocono 500
June 5, 2008
The Pocono 500 odds have been set by linesmakers at Bodog Sportsbook. Now it is time to make your Pocono 500 predictions for 2007. First, you have to understand how the odds work and what odds you will receive on the driver of your choice. The Pocono 500 offers a unique track with the Pocono Raceway that is triangle-shaped and offer many different angles on bankings in 3 corners of this journey. A long straightaway gives drivers their opportunity to pass one another, but passing won’t come easily without the help of teammates.

Bodog has Denny Hamlin listed as the favorite to win with Pocono 500 odds at 4/1. This means a $100 bet would win you $400 on Hamlin. Denny Hamlin is obviously the favorite because he has captured the checkered flag in each of the last 2 races at Pocono. Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson are next in line with 5/1 Pocono 500 odds. Gordon and Johnson have been two of the most consistent drivers in NASCAR so we wouldn’t be surprised if either driver ends up in the winner’s circle.
Tony Stewart hasn’t made much noise in the 2007 Nextel Cup standings, but he is fourth in line with 7/1 odds to win. Stewart has run well, but just can’t close the deal this season to earn his first Nextel Cup win. You can never count a guy with Stewart’s credentials out though. Stewart has 1 win, 4 Top 5’s and 11 Top 10’s in his career at Pocono. Stewart has come close in each of his last 3 races at Pocono, finishing 3rd with two 7 th place finishes in his last 3 runs at this track respectively. 2007 could be his year.
Bodog has 33 drivers listed with Pocono 500 odds to win. That means there are 14 other drivers that aren’t even listed. This would be called a “field bet” if you think that one of these 14 drivers will win the Pocono 500. The Field Bet is listed with 50/1 odds to win at Pocono in 2007. This bet might not be a bad idea to throw a small wager with considering two first-time winners have been crowned in the last two Nextel Cup races. Casey Mears earned his first win in at Lowe’s Motor Speedway two weeks ago and Martin Truex Jr. captured his first Cup win at Dover International Speedway last season.
With a Field wager, a $10 bet would win you $250. This is a tempting bet and you would be justified by placing a wager on the Field at 50/1 with Bodog’s Pocono 500 odds. Obviously the linesmakers don’t give these drivers who are listed in the Field a chance. But nobody gave Casey Mears or Martin Truex Jr. a chance in the last two Nextel Cup races. Maybe give someone else a shot at winning the Pocono 500 that the linemakers are overlooking and bet the Field at 50/1 in 2007.
