2007 New England Patriots NFL Predictions & Season Preview
June 5, 2008
Everyone is making 2007 Patriots predictions that this team will win it all, and I guess why wouldn’t you. The team has a track record of success that is unmatched in this decade, and they got better this year than they have been in maybe any other year so far. The team added two real big-names in Randy Moss and Adalius Thomas. The coaching staff didn’t lose any big names like they have in recent years so the chances are good this team will make their fourth Super Bowl in eight years.

Tom Brady is always up there when it comes to mentioning the best in the business under center, and the scary thing is that this year he should be even better. Not only is he still young at 30, but he hasn’t had any help from real threats at wideout. You can expect improvements on the 24 TDs he had last year and the 3,529 yards he amassed through the air. At running back there is Laurence Maroney and Kevin Faulk. Faulk is a great third down back who can help out on special teams, while Maroney had a nice rookie season despite splitting time with the departed Corey Dillon. Now at wide receiver Brady is going to have a pair of deep threats in Randy Moss and Dante Stallworth, two of the best in the game at going long. Added to the mix will be Wes Welker who led Miami in receiving last year. At tight end the Pats have both Ben Watson and Kyle Brady, so there is a guy who can catch and a great blocker. This team is loaded offensively.
The front of this defense is second-to-none in the league, with big-time playmakers like Richard Seymour, Ty Warren, and Vince Wilfork being able to both get to the passer and stuff opposing runners. This group of linebackers is scary. Mike Vrabel and Adalius Thomas are the most versatile guys in the league, and now Belichick has both to use at his disposal. Roosevelt Colvin and Tedy Bruschi may be getting up there in age, but they are a lot better than average as well. At corner the team will be fine if Asante Samuel decides to actually report to camp and play, otherwise it will be Ellis Hobbs and the old guys Tory James and Chad Scott on the other side. At safety Rodney Harrison has had trouble staying healthy, and he’s been in the league 13 years now.
Everyone and their brother is banking on this team being the one to beat in 2007. When situations like that arise we tend to look for reasons not to ride the public wave. The odds makers want even action with betting, so we are going to go with the UNDER 11.5 wins. As far as to win the division, conference, and Super Bowl, this team has the best shot of winning it all, but it’s tough to take such a steep favorite.
