2007 Green Bay Packers NFL Predictions & Season Preview
Our 2007 Packers predictions show a team on the verge of the NFC Wild-Card. Last year, Green Bay finished 8-8 and was on the outside looking in. We here at Info Plays think that this year is going to be quite similar as the team did nothing spectacular and continues to try and improve themselves through the draft. The offense needed help, but Green Bay is preparing for the post-Favre era by building up a defensive minded squad. If Favre is productive then hopefully the defense can progress fast enough to take this team to the playoffs, but we don’t see it happening.

At quarterback Brett Favre is still the best QB in the NFC North. He may be turning 38 this year, and history shows that 38 is when quarterbacks start to fade, but still has the skills to lead a decent team. The question though is if everyone else is going to be up to the challenge. Since Farve has started 237 straight games it’s unlikely Aaron Rodgers is going to see any significant playing time this season. The loss of Ahman Greene at running back could prove costly. The Packers have Vernand Morency and Brandon Jackson to try and carry the load, but Greene was a solid back that will be tough to replace. The two top receivers are solid in Donald Driver and Greg Jennings. Both of these guys are decent pass catchers who give Favre reliable targets. After those two there isn’t much left, so keeping those two healthy is going to be important to their success.
Green Bay should have a strong group of defensive lineman. Aaron Kampman had a great season at defensive end with 15.5 sacks and 113 tackles while Cullen Jenkins is also tough on the other side. In the middle the team drafted Justin Harrell which could be a difference maker. Ryan Pickett and Corey Williams are two other run stuffers which will make this team tough to run against. The Packers probably aren’t going to be able to complain about their linebackers either. AJ Hawk is going to be a Pro Bowler soon enough as he had 155 tackles in his rookie campaign. Nick Barnett is a solid middle linebacker who coupled with Hawk make a formidable duo. The secondary has two big playmakers in Charles Woodson and Al Harris, but both are aging. The rest of the group is either youthful or coming off injury, but with so many options the team is just hoping a couple of them progress and work out.
The Packers had to win their last four games against the 49ers, Lions, Vikings, and then in a meaningless game against the Bears to get to 8-8. The beginning of the year schedule is tough, which make 8 wins unlikely this year. We are taking a pass on this over under, but if we had to put out a pick it would be to take the under 7.5 wins.
