June 5, 2008

It’s time for our 2007 NFL predictions from the staff here at Info Plays.  We want to help you get off to the right start this season and we are going to do so by giving you a team-by-team breakdown of who we think is going to be hot and which teams you should be wary of to start the season.  On this page we will give you a general overview of the different outlooks we have for each conference, the playoffs and then for the Super Bowl.

In the AFC everyone is thinking it’s going to be a three-horse race between the Colts, Pats, and Chargers.  At InfoPlays we think that the Colts are going to struggle coming off of last season’s successes.  The team lost a lot on the defensive side of the ball and to compete with the rest of the AFC we think it’s too much to ask for them to keep pace with their offense alone.  Two teams that aren’t necessarily on everyone’s radar are the Bengals and the Broncos.  The Bengals need to get better defensively in order to compete with the best in the conference.  If Cutler can prove to everyone that dumping Plummer in the middle of last season was worth it, then this team can fly pretty high.  Everyone is kind of looking past Denver since San Diego is supposed to win the division, but watch for this team to fly under the radar.

The Bears will have a good chance of returning to the Super Bowl since they are bringing back almost everyone except Thomas Jones.  Good thing they have Cedric Benson to replace him.  If this team stays healthy then the road to the Super Bowl will run through Chicago.  The Saints are being undervalued by some people, but not by us.  We think this is the second best team in the NFC and they’ll continue to improve under Brees and Bush.  The NFC East is going to be tough, and our best bet is that whatever teams come out of their won’t have a good enough record for home field, and they’ll be beat up due to the grueling schedule.

For the playoffs expect the Pats, Chargers, Colts, Ravens, Bengals, and Broncos out of the AFC.  When looking at the NFC we like the Cowboys, Eagles, Bears, Saints, Seahawks, and Panthers.  The 49ers and Steelers would be our odd men left out of the mix.  Conference championships will find Chargers against the Pats and the Bears against the Saints.  Patriots over the Saints in the Super Bowl.
