Let’s get started in the NFC when it appears to us there are two teams above the rest.  The Chicago Bears play in the weakest division in this conference and are probably the best team so we are calling them a sheer lock to make the playoffs again this year.  The New Orleans Saints had plenty of talent last year and with another year in Sean Payton’s system then this could be the first appearance in the big game for the Big Easy.  The NFC East is tough, but we think there are two teams that have a good shot at coming out of this division with the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles both having plenty of talent.  Out West the division has been dominated by the Seattle Seahawks and even though the 49ers, Cardinals, and Rams all will be better, this team remains the cream of the crop for at least one more season.  The other wild card spot we are ready to give to the Carolina Panthers.  This team is loaded with talent and seems to perform well when flying under the radar like they are coming into the 2007 season.

In the AFC there are three solid teams that everyone expects will be in it at the end, and we have to feel pretty good about all three of these teams’s playoff chances.  It all starts with the New England Patriots who have been a juggernaut this millennium and only got better this year with the additions of Randy Moss and Adaluis Thomas.  The AFC East isn’t going to be all that difficult this year either, so expect the Pats to have a high seed.  In the South we again see the Colts breaking through, even though historically teams have faced a slump after winning the NFL title, Manning isn’t going to let that happen.  We also think the Jacksonville Jaguars are a team that has not gotten enough credit as they have a great shot at making the post-season as a wild card.  In the North it’s going to once again be the Baltimore Ravens, even though the Steelers will be better this year and the Cincinnati Bengals will give them a push.  The other wild card spot goes to which of the above two teams can win their individual battles.  In the West the San Diego Chargers are going to be tough once again.  Even though they lost almost all of their coaching staff, we still think when you have as much talent as they do it would be difficult to mess things up.
