2007 MLB Predictions & Baseball Season Preview

Let me take a moment to fill you in on how this season will play out from my prospective. This season should bring some fun and excitement when making my 2007 MLB predictions to see how this year will unfold. I won’t be biased when making my premium picks or free baseball picks in relation to my MLB predictions because making winning MLB picks against the money line on a daily basis has nothing to do with which teams I believe will make the postseason. With that said here are my predictions for the 2007 season.

In the American League the Champion will definitely come out of the AL East or the AL Central. In the AL East you have New York, Boston, and Toronto with the only chances to make postseason births. I think Toronto will be there to the wire with the ability to score runs at will with the Yankees and Red Sox. The Jays will end up in a close 3rd behind the Red Sox in this divison. The Yankees run away with it because their line-up will finally stay healthy all season long. New York easily finishes with over 100 wins and makes it all the way to the AL Championship Series.

The AL Central sees Detroit, Chicago, Minnesota, and Cleveland in the race through July. I feel that Minnesota will get left out of the hunt finally this season with Cleveland taking their place as a contender. The White Sox just missed out on a postseason birth and will be hungry to get back to their 2005 World Series form with nearly the same line-up and pitching staff. The Detroit Tigers will win the division with the best pitching staff in all of baseball. Chicago and Cleveland fight until the last game of the season to decide which team makes the postseason. Chicago comes out of the AL Central with the Wild Card spot due to their experience.

The AL West isn’t worth talking about because this Division is awful. The Angels make it to the postseason but that’s where the line is drawn. The Yankees meet the Wild Card White Sox team in the A.L Division Series and Detroit takes on the L.A. Angels. Chicago gets swept in 3 games and Detroit nails a 4-game series with the Angels. The Yankees will then get their revenge against the Tigers with a 4-1 thrashing of Detroit and finally a spot in the World Series for ARod and company.

The National League not as clear cut in which teams will make it to the postseason. The New York Mets will not run away with the NL East because there is simply too much potential here. Washington is the only team out of the playoff hunt come July. Florida will shock the baseball world with their young talent finally gaining the experience needed to get over the hump and contend in this Division. Philadelphia will finish second to last here. The Braves and Marlins will be in a close second behind the Mets all season long. Florida and Atlanta are the clear cut favorites for the Wild Card position here in my book. The Marlins get the job done in 2007 and follow the Mets into postseason play.

The NL Central will be won in a landslide by the Chicago Cubs. St. Louis will not be as fortunate as they were a year ago. The Cubs will be the only team above .500 at the end of the season here. Revamped line-up will produce more runs on average than the Cubs have seen in 10 years. Pitching will only be average but their sticks carry them to over 85 wins in 2007. Cubs’ fans finally have a reason to celebrate, but their postseason ghost still lingers.

The NL West has been the laugh of the Major League’s over the last 5 years. It has been proven that the winner of this division only needs a .500 record to make the postseason. That won’t be the case this year. San Diego and Los Angeles will both finish with over 85 wins this season as well. San Francisco has no offensive firepower to compete and gets overtaken by Arizona for the 3rd spot in this division. The D’Backs have great young talent and Randy Johnson has his best season in the last 3 years by far as a starter. Colorado needs to start looking outside of their farm squad for players. This group just isn’t going to cut it. The Dodgers fight with the Padres at the end of the season with Los Angeles getting the nod by a couple games with their run producing abilities. The Padres have a great pitching staff but no run support.

The New York Mets take on the Los Angeles Dodgers in a tough NL Division Series. The Mets come out on top, closing out this series in 4 games. The Cubs get the Marlins and fight until the death. This series goes to Game 5 and the Cubs get over the hump with the support of the World on their side. The Mets will be hungrier than they were a year ago after getting beat by a lesser Cardinals team in the NL Championship Series. The Cubs fans go down in disappointment again, falling short of a World Series birth. The Mets win this series in 6 games.

The city rivalry is on for the 2007 World Series. Both New York teams have the money to spend and it will finally pay off this season. The Yankees will come through for Steinbrenner with a long awaited title. The Yankee faithful will praise Alex Rodriquez in an MVP season and a World Series ring. ARod will have the monkey off his back as a “choke artist” and will flourish the rest of his career because of it. Yankees win in 5 games.
