Tiger is around a two-to-one favorite to win this event, but due to the timing of the birth of his first child, he is one player we would recommend waiting on before placing your wager. He is showing good value at those odds, but you’ll have to keep a close eye on the news.
Ernie Els is once again our best value top pick. He’s coming into this event at around 12-to-1, which would be a nice payoff. He placed in their last year behind Tiger Woods, was 2nd in 2004, won in 2002, third in 2001, second in 2000, oh you get the picture. The guy is good and always competes well in the Open.
The long shot we are going with is Justin Rose. You won’t see this guy near the top of the odds to win the tournament, so we are talking about a real dark horse here. He hasn’t even qualified for the event since 2003, when he missed the cut. However, he is coming off a Mastercard Masters win on the European Tour and is playing pretty good golf heading into the new year. Keep tabs on this guy, because he could be a good value bet.
