2007 Buffalo Bills Predictions & Season Preview

Our 2007 Bills predictions show Buffalo once again missing the playoffs which will extend an NFL worst streak to eight straight seasons. The team has lost a lot of big names on defense from a year ago, and they lost Willis McGahee to the Ravens. To improve the team went out and spent a lot of money to try and solidify their offensive line in order to improve on one of the worst offenses in the league from a year ago. The fans feel like this team is ready to make a leap to a winning record, but we are not so sure.

JP Losman was one of the most improved quarterbacks in the game last year as he improved his completion percentage to 62.5% and his passer rating to 84.9. The Bills are now confident this is their man to guide the team into the future. This year he should have more protection which hopefully will turn into deeper throws and more yardage. Marshawn Lynch is a tough runner who has speed. They let go of McGahee and are confident this kid will be even better, largely because they can also utilize his skills in the passing game. At receiver the team could possibly be pretty stacked. Lee Evans is a Pro Bowl talent and racked up almost 1300 yards a year ago. Peerless Price, Josh Reed, and Roscoe Perish are also more than capable of holding their own and moving chains.

The defensive front four is pretty talented at rushing the passer, but not against stopping the run. Aaron Schobel took down the opposing quarterback 14 times last year and was a Pro Bowler. Larry Tripplett was disappointing after coming over from the Colts a year ago, and LSU’s Kyle Williams will get plenty of time as well. The Bills lost Takeo Spikes and London Fletcher at linebacker, but still have Angelo Crowell who is talented and now has bigger shoes to fill. Two youngsters in Keith Ellison and Paul Posluszny will have to perform up to their talent level and learn quickly. A huge hole was left in the secondary when Nate Clements departed for San Francisso. Terrence McGee is solid but who is going to start at corner opposite of him is a big question mark. The safeties are young and talented in Ko Simpson and Donte Whitner who will need to make more big plays without giving up any.

The Bills have been under 6 wins only one time in the last five years and that was when they gathered five wins in 2005. I don’t expect them to do much better than 6 wins this year, but chances are they will be better than 5-11, so let’s go with the OVER. However, forget about them with your other futures wagers as there is better value out there.
