We will start with the favorite, Jimmie Johnson, listed with 4/1 odds to win the Autism Speaks 400 at Dover International Speedway. He won a race at Dover in 2005 and hasn’t finished worse than 13th in each of his last 5 starts there. This is a big reason why Johnson is the favorite to win, plus he already has 4 wins this year. Johnson started 42nd in the last race at Dover and climbed himself all the way up to the No. 6 spot by races end. A wager on Johnson would be justified, but we will be looking for some of the bigger value bets for our favorites to win the Autism Speaks 400.
Tony Stewart is definitely a guy you are going to want to pass up at 7/1 odds to win. This guy has more Midget Car wins than Nascar wins this year. Jeff Gordon is another guy we are going to have to pass on at 5/1 odds to win. His average finish at Dover is 13.0, a number that’s just not going to get it done consistently. His average finish this season is 6.9 if that tells you anything. He may be racing well in 2007, but our Autism Speaks 400 predictions are not going to be made on Gordon or Stewart.
Ryan Newman getting 12/1 odds is going to be our pick to win this year’s event. Newman has won 3 out of the last 8 races at Dover International Speedway, yet he is still getting overlooked. His average finish at Dover is 9.0 and we feel he will make another run at the winner’s circle with his ability to earn a great starting position. Newman has started in the Top 5 in each of the last 8 races at Dover including 3 pole positions. He flat out flies around this track. Place a wager on Newman against the Autism Speaks 400 odds listed at 12/1 and you can be sure that this guy will be right in it every step of the way.
A couple other notables to look at for your Autism Speaks 400 predictions have to be Denny Hamlin at 7/1, Matt Kenseth at 9/1 and Jeff Burton at 11/1. We fully expect all 3 of these drivers to be in the Top 10 when the race comes down to the wire. Hamlin has 6 Top 10’s in 9 starts this year. Matt Kenseth won the last race at Dover in 2006 and has an average finish of 8.8 this season. Jeff Burton got 1st and 4th in two events last year at Dover International Speedway. These three guys should all be in consideration when making your Autism Speaks 400 predictions. But we are taking Ryan Newman with the best value for this race.
