Check out the new year with our 2007 NFL Predictions

With our 2006 pro football predictions we are going to look at two quality season win totals in the Patriots and the 49ers.  These two teams are thought by many to be one of the best teams in the league, and the worst.  However, going against the public’s perception in the NFL is normally a good thing, and we are going to go against the grain with both of these squads.

Everyone is banking on the Patriots return to glory despite having one of the highest win totals set at 10.5 victories.  We think that they are going to struggle to get to 11 wins and here is why.  The reason is their schedule, it’s once again one of the toughest in the league with games at home against Denver, Miami, Indianapolis, and Chicago while they go on the road to face the Bengals, Vikings, Dolphins, and Jags.  Those are going to be eight solid games and for a team that won 10 regular season games a year ago, it’s going to be tough to see them taking down eleven wins and beating expectations.  We think that 10 wins is more likely and you’ll see them once again in the playoffs, but take the under here.

The 49ers are terrible.  They had the worst offense last year, but wait a minute, they had the worst defense too.  The team didn’t get a bunch of big names in the free agency market and they took a tight end in the first round of the draft.  So why do we think they can get to six wins and cash this ticket for us?  The schedule they earned as being the worst team last year gives them Philly and Oakland at home, the Vikings and Packers at home and then road games at Detroit, St. Louis, and New Orleans.  Trust us when we say this team is going to be improved if only because Alex Smith has a year under his belt as an NFL starter.  He threw one touchdown and nine interceptions a year ago, but this year those numbers will be closer to one another.  You have to remember that this kid was good enough to be drafted no. 1 only two short years ago, so he has the talent.  They won’t be Super Bowl contenders, but they won’t be the NFL’s worst squad either.
