There is always a lot of excitement when August rolls around the and pre-season kicks off.  People everyone are overly optimistic about how their team’s chances are going to be this season and the improvements that were made.  Here is our take on thing’s being as unbiased as possible with only winning you money in mind.

Quick handicap on who is going to win the NFC – All odds are going to be taken from Pinnacle Sportsbook.

The favorite is the Dallas Cowboys at +487.  The team made a major addition with Terrell Owens, has the best coach in the NFC with Bill Parcells, and is tough defensively.  Are the best team in the NFC, maybe, but they are weighted a little too heavily here for our liking.

Seattle is the 2nd highest rated team by Pinnacle Sportsbook.  They are sitting at +513 but bettors need to remember that the team that lost the Super Bowl the year before has missed the playoffs now five straight seasons.  Keep that in mind even though they are probably the most overall talented team in the NFC.

Carolina has become the favorite selection of all the experts and we hate to say it but we have to agree.  They are showing a strong value at +578, and they are the team we are going to be going with.  They made some key additions to the passing game so Steve Smith isn’t going to have to do it all, and there is no way they will be at their 4th string running back some December, but everyone will be targeting them this season.  It just isn’t going to matter as they make the big dance this year.

Here is our quick analysis of the AFC, which is becoming the NFL’s power conference.

The favorite to come out of this side of the league is the Indianapolis Colts, but if they didn’t do it last year why is there any reason to believe this year will be different.  The team is losing it’s star runner in Edgerrin James, and this is going to cause havoc because he was a great blocker for Manning, and he set up the passing game with the play action.  Too big of loss and no value at +316.

The public has fallen in love with the New England Patriots and that is why they are the second favorite at +520.  Can they get home field advantage with the tough schedule that they are going to be playing?  We never like doubting Belichick and Brady, but Miami is coming on in their division and this team’s last five years have been exceptional, just when does it come crashing down.

Our favorite is the Denver Broncos at +884.  This team is returning a lot of big names and upgraded in positions where they lost players.  The team gets to play a rather soft schedule that should allow them to have home field advantage and if Plummer could have had one more game before reverting to his old self then he would have carried this team to the Super Bowl.  Watch out for the Broncos this season.
