2006 Buffalo Bills Predictions & Season Preview
2007 Buffalo Bills Season Preview & Predictions from our staff!
With 80-year-old Marv Levy returning to the team, the 2006 Buffalo Bills are hoping he can bring back the old glory. The sportsbooks are sure disagreeing with the decision, as the Bills win total is being set at 6.5. Pinnacle is doubting they’ll get to 7 as the over 6.5 juice is set at +123 while the under is a big favorite at -133. Bodog doesn’t feel strongly about the Bills either, with over 6.5 at +100 and the under at -130. Bet the Under at Bodog if you feel as strongly as we do that the Bills are the worst team in the AFC East.
The Bills have not been in the playoffs in the new millennium and once again they decided to clean house. This time the team is going with 80-year-old Marv Levy to come in as general manager and return the team to mid-90′s glory when they lost four straight Super Bowls. The team’s owner Ralph Wilson made gripes this off-season about how his small-market team can’t compete with the high profile teams, and as a result the team was not active in the free agent market. The team has a lot of problems and is doomed for another year in the basement of the AFC East.
The problems started last year when the team named J.P. Loseman as the starter and Kelly Holcomb was held as the backup. The team knew that there were going to be pains early and that’s what happened when the team lost 3 of their first 4, their sole win was against Houston. The passing game ranked 29th in the NFL and know Loseman is going to have to fight off Holcomb for the starting position. Don’t plan on him doing so as Holcomb has proved capable more than once. McGahee is above average for NFL running backs as long as he can get someone who can pass and take some of the heat off him. If he sees more lines stacked against him he’ll keep having games where he rushes for less than 100 yards. It’s hard to believe that the team is going to be better passing with the loss of Eric Moulds, but they do have a nice volume of guys in Lee Evans, Andre Davis, Peerless Price, Josh Reed, and Roscoe Parrish. The legs should be fresh as there aren’t any in this group that can really stand out so rotation will be the way to go.
The 2006 Buffalo Bills need to improve on their 29th rated defense and 31st rated defense against the run. The line was a big problem, and the team let some big names go and drafted John McCargo out of North Carolina State in the hopes that he can be a stuffer. This linebacking group is not going to be the freshest in the league with 30+ year-olds Jeff Posey and London Fletcher coupling with Takeo Spikes, who is coming off a season-ending Achilles injury last season. Nate Clements is a solid corner and the safety spot is secure with Troy Vincent and Donte Whitner, but there aren’t going to be any teams passing if the rush defense doesn’t improve.
