2006 Baltimore Ravens Predictions & Season Preview
2007 Baltimore Ravens Season Preview & Predictions from our staff!
We look for the 2006 Baltimore Ravens team to threaten the rest of the conference now that they have added Steve McNair to the mix. The trade for McNair has caused some problems for Pinnacle as they have left the season win total at 7.5 wins, but the juice has gone all the way up to -203, while the under has major underdog value at +183. Bodog has made an adjustment up to 8 wins with -125 juice for the over and -105 for the under. This team isn’t likely to end up at 7 wins unless a major catastrophe happens, so take the over at Bodog if you want to avoid juice.
The 2006 Baltimore Ravens are going to have a win this year or forever hold our peace kind of attitude. The team has struggled since winning the Super Bowl, and management is getting restless with Brian Billick and company. The team is aging fast with Ray Lewis, Jonathan Ogden, Edwin Mulitalo, and Steve McNair all having their best years most likely behind them. Ray and Jamal Lewis are both coming off of major injuries, as is Ed Reed and Mulitalo. The Ravens have given McNair plenty of different targets which should help him have a good year, but Lewis needs to return to form in order for this offense to click. The defense is aging and the opportunities are closing fast, this is their last ditch effort to bring a ring with the group they have assembled.
The team has never had any offense since Billick came to the team as a proclaimed offensive genius, but that should change this year with the addition of McNair. The problem with McNair is that he has always been prone to injury, and if that’s the case then it’ll be time for Kyle Boller to justify why he was a first round draft choice three years ago. Jamal Lewis is a streaky runner, and he’s due for a big season after a couple of busts in 2004 and 2005. Mike Anderson was brought in just in case he isn’t up to the challenge. This receiving corps is talented as well with Derrick Mason being reunited with his former Titan QB and Mark Clayton should develop into a stud in his second year out of Oklahoma. The team also has a top 5 pass catcher at the tight end spot in Todd Heap, as long as he can avoid the injuries that ruined his season last year.
Ed Reed and Ray Lewis are going to be the leaders on the defensive side of the ball once again for the 2006 Baltimore Ravens. Without these two stars last year the team struggled. The defensive line will be set at end with Terrell Suggs and Trevor Pryce harassing opposing quarterbacks. At linebacker Lewis may have lost a step, but he’s still one of the best in the league and will have Dan Cody to help him make big plays. The secondary is strong with Chris McAllister, Samari Rolle, and Reed. If Suggs and Pryce can put pressure on the thrower, then these defensive backs might get a lot of picks this year.
