2007 Atlanta Falcons Season Preview & Predictions from our staff!

This season will depend on Mike Vick’s health and how far his legs can take the 2006 Atlanta Falcons.  We are going to go against the sportsbook grain with our prediction on the Falcons by taking the over 8.5 win total.  You can find the odds on over 8.5 wins at Bodog at -110, with the under at -120.  Pinnacle has the Falcons win total listed at 8, with the over going at -134 and the under at +124.  If you feel they are really going to under produce then we recommend placing your wagers at Pinnacle.

Vick can single handedly keep this team in playoff contention with his cannon for an arm and lightening bolts flashing around the field that he calls legs.  He does need to develop as a passer so he can remain in the pocket and still make plays which should lead to him staying healthy for the entire year.  This team did lead the league in rushing last season and should be ranked highly again this year with Warrick Dunn and Vick.  Defensively the needed to improve and did when they brought in Lawyer Milloy, Chris Crocker and John Abraham.  If someone besides Crumpler can become a threat in the passing game then this team could ride hide, move past the Panthers and make a deep run in the playoffs.

Offensively the team is a force with a strong offensive line that helps the team move the ball on the ground with the best in the league.  Vick makes plays unlike anyone else in the league, but another injury last year limited him to close the season.  Dunn is a force even though he is 31, but he isn’t slowing down yet.  Crumpler is the only force they have to catch any of Vick’s sometimes errant throws with Roddy White and Michael Jenkins both young and needing to get caught up quickly.

The 2006 Atlanta Falcons will be able to get to the passer as long as guys like Patrick Kearney can keep double teams off of new Falcon John Abraham.  He is a force at the end position and was a steal in a trade with the Jets.  The linebackers are deep and lead by Keith Brooking, who has sideline to sideline tackling ability and makes big plays.  The team’s secondary will be improved significantly over last season with Crocker and Milloy joining DeAngelo Hall and Jason Webster.  Another Virginia Tech boy in Jimmy Williams will prove to be a great nickel back for the team.
